Redmi Note 4X Bootloop Problem - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hey all,
My battery drained fast over the last couple of months so I decided to buy a new battery from ebay. However I bought the wrong model for my phone (Seems like there are a few different battery models for the same device). My phone had the BN41 and I bought the BN43 model.
When I opened the back of the phone and tried to connect the plug of the new battery, it couldn't fit in and that's where I realised I had the wrong model.
I connected the old battery and the bootloop started happening. Obviously it was caused because of me forcing the plug of the wrong battery to fit in, right?
Technician already flashed it and that didn't fix the problem.
I would follow this solution here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...K-fq89QZpNzg12hziJoOP9I4xfhQKgyXQJyzg8b8emvHA), but I can't even enter the fastboot mode. Once I press the power and down key, fastboot logo appears and stays there forever.
Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

[Q] Note 2 won't boot unless connected to charger.

The title says it all. My brothers Note 2 will only boot past the Galaxy Note 2 boot screen if it is connected to the charger. It doesn't matter if it is a USB or wall charge. If the phone is connected to a power source it boots into the system fine, however, once you remove it from the power source it turns off. I was wondering if it could be a bad battery but the charge is showing it at almost 80%. Has anyone ran into something like this before? If I try to boot the phone without it being connected, it sits at the Note 2 screen for about 15 seconds and then shuts itself off.
I'm not really sure but it sounds like the internals of the battery are closing up (shorting). Are you able to get another battery to test and see if it is the battery?

Having same issues
Seems it hardware plus software issue.
Running 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
Happened after installing few games .
Goes in constant boot loop
Can start by attaching power cord only to socket.
With USB attached to Laptop .. still goes in loop
Powerbank is workaround.
Seems to reboot when saving to sd card ..
Will keep posted

The problem, after getting a stock image back on the phone, ended up being a bad battery. The phone wouldn't hold a charge even though the charging image showed otherwise. Once you get a working image on there, try replacing the battery. I ordered an eight dollar cheapo battery from Amazon and it worked like a charm.

I second this. My phone went down Saturday. Thought it was something with CyanogenMod 11, but flashing back to stock did nothing. Replaced the battery, haven't had any problems since.

Thats first thing i did .. checked different battery ..
Battery is fine .. its not battery issue .. atleast in my case ..
i checked for SDS .. my phone has no SDS insane bug either .. though symptoms were same .
I have backup phone, using it.
I showed for mobile repair.
Said he will solve it .
So plan to take tomorrow.
I can root and all..
But after this booting dont want to brick it ..
So plan to do it via the mobile repair shop
Had same issue. Solved after replace the battery.
I have the same issue right now as well. I was on stock for awhile and used casual one click method, switched between a few roms. Than it started happening after that. So I flashed back to stock on odin and still have that issue. Havent figured it out yet.

I have had this issue and replacing the battery did the trick. I was having issues with the battery beforehand. once the battery showed as being at 17% the phone would start the reboot cycle and not fully boot until it was plugged in.
Have same problem here.....All these started when I replaced my bulge battery. New battery doesn't hold power below 20%. Phone goes off in boot cycle until plugged in a charger
Try to boot on USB/PC data connection
When connected t PC-system will boot to a point. PC indicates new connection then looses it and Note 2 returns to flash screen. Problem start when using corporate email and encrypted data. Works w/o error connected to wall charger. Disconnect crashes system. Flashes screen forever. No diagnostics. Did all SW reboots. Doubt battery, but will try.

Did you ever test a new battery/figure it out?
Mine is doing the same thing I think. I only boots if connected to a wall charger. If connected to PC with USB it will boot to the [T-Mobile in my case] boot screen, connect to PC for a split second (long enough to make the connection sound in windows, then I can't find it) and it stays on that screen. Without being connected to either, or after pulling plug, it turns off.
Same problem here with mine
can't be just the battery because it will stay on w/o charger when in download/recovery mode or if it gets stuck on the Verizon screen.

Redmi Note 3 won't turn on

Hello, yesterday I got my new Redmi Note 3. After hour or so using it, installing apps, adjusting settings and such I locked it and a minute later it didn't turn on (last time I checked the battery was around 30%). I've tried a lot of things: connecting it to my PC, holding every combination of buttons (just power button, just volume down, just volume up, power+volume down, power+volume up, I haven't tried only the volume up+volume down combination). I've also left it charging over the night using my Galaxy s3 mini charger (I live in Europe so I can't charge it here with provided charger) and still nothing, literally no reaction. Then HonorBuy's suport sent me an email that says I have to remove the sticker from the battery, it wasn't until they realised that the battery is non-removable that I have to close the back cover. Then they told me that I try charging it on the computer for at least an hour. Will that help considering that I've already charged it normally the whole night? Or do you guys maybe have some other idea what might be the problem?
I forgot, that hour or so when the phone actually worked, worked perfectly.
Thank you.
did you manage to get your phone fixed? im having the same problem. phone just died randomly.

Same problem here . any idea?
Can you get into fastboot?
Power button + vol down..
Edit: Sorry, just saw that you have tried that already..
When I had a bad flash a couple a weeks ago my RN3 was totally dead like yours..
I followed this guide wich worked for me: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=221115
Attention! All your data will be lost..
I'm aware that your phones was properly working, but maybe this is a solution?
Charge from PC USB.
Charge from PC USB.
A Quick Fix
I also got the same problem today...but i mamaged to fix it...Firstly hold vol down and power button...the device will boot into fastboot mode ...secondly after entering into fast boot mode...hold volume up + power for 10 seconds....now your phone will reboot ormally...Thats it...No big deal...
I had the same problem right after I connected the phone with an aux- it died and started heating up. I tried all the above suggestions except the reboot because I didn't want any data lost. All I did was put it in rice for 10 minutes, even though I knew rice is meant for phones when they've got wet. After 10 mins, I pressed the power button and it worked!
Hope it works for you,too.
The same problem is happening with me after I tried to restore a TWRP backup.
I can't really enter fastboot as phone is not charging.
I'm having the same issue with my Redmi Note 3 phone. Just opened it from the box, charged a bit and turned it on. Everything worked except when I turned it off again to charge it faster and later tried to turned it on.
The phone is now completely dead, no charging screen, and it's slowly heating up. Is this a manufacturing error or can I do something to fix it?

This happened to me too. I think I factory wiped in twrp and went from cm13 to miui then it stopped charging.
No amount of flashing fixed it. Fast boot, EDL nothing worked and xiaomi won't help.
I came across only few people that had this but they seemed to suggest some partition being corrupted going from CM to miui. I couldn't find details about which partition though, not very substantial claims.
I read somewhere that it could be a bug of the version of a specific TWRP, but without sure.
In my case, I flashed Xiaomi.eu with success on CM, and after that restored again CM.
CM -> Xiaomi.eu -> CM
I sent it to a (unofficial) repair center and they just flashed the ROM on my phone. Probably using pin test or something similar.

I tried all of that. I had about 80% battery when I noticed it's not charging so I had plenty of battery to flash things. I tried anything and everything that was suggested to me in the xiaomi forums but nothing worked.
Did you send it to an official xiaomi service center?
No. I just sent it to a local generic phone service center. I imported mine from China without warranty.

Well that gives me some hope. Where are you? In the UK the phone is rare so I'm worried that they won't know what to do with it.

I'm from Portugal and it is also rare her but they solve it in a few days with just a small price. Try to find a specialized smartphone repair center near you as it looks like a small issue.
I have purchase new redmi note 3 prime. Very first time when I switched it on after charge it start booting and still continue since 8 hour. Nothing happened neither switch off nor restart even hard boot is also not working. Only logo of mi is blinking on screen.

[G850F][Q] My phone continously reboots like a bootloop unless plugged in to AC power

Hi everyone, I was trying to get the Fingerprint sensor going on my phone so I reset the software using Samsung Smart Switch, and now unless it's plugged into my phone charger, the phone gets stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy Alpha powered by Android" screen, like a bootloop. If I have it connected to a wall charger, it will boot and will run for a bit with it unplugged once booted, but doing anything slightly intensive like switching on mobile data or opening a game causes it to reboot when unplugged from power. What confuses me even more is that if I leave it in Recovery Mode it acts fine as if nothing had happened. I have installed a custom recovery, TWRP 2.8.1.1 and I tried installing LineageOS on it to see whether that would fix the issue (it didn't) so I have assumed it is a battery issue, but the bit that still confuses me is that if I'm in Recovery, the phone doesnt reboot and runs fine, the same with Download mode.
Any help would be grateful, the phone is imported and second-hand (the CSC is BTU but my CSC on other phones bought locally is usually TNZ or VNZ for Telecom NZ or Vodafone NZ) so I don't know what I can do about servicing, like whether it needs to go back to Samsung directly or what.
Thanks
Hi, I had a similar problem on my phone a few days ago, I just change the battery and everything is back in order.
I can not guarantee that it is the same for you. Sorry for english i use google.
Try to drain the battery then charge it up to 100% again, if that didn't work, replace your battery. I had that exact problem occurred on my Asus Zenfone 2.
I have ordered a new battery off amazon, it took me a while to find one with decent reviews but I have a decent one coming
If you change the battery please can you post back and let us know if it worked.
I have a galaxy alpha and the phone battery will get really hot and then show 'no sim card' and then it will shutdown and report 0% battery. I thought there was something wrong with the phone internals but if changing the battery fixes this then that would save me a lot of grief.
Like you I have to have the phone plugged in for it to work, i'm currently lugging around a huge battery pack everywhere!
Flash with stock rom. If problem persist. Change your battery.
I bought THIS battery off Amazon, and the one I received appeared to be a legitimate Samsung Battery. It holds a charge and lasts possibly even longer then the original Samsung battery did before it stopped working. If you have this issue, definitely consider buying a new battery. There is a decent one by Mbuynow which had decent reviews on Amazon but I didn't get that due to it not shipping to New Zealand.

Redmi Note 4x 4/64 Mtk - Stuck in the bootloop after battery drainage, cannot charge.

Dear all,
I hope there is someone here, who can help me with my issue. I lost my hope after trying almost everything found in the internet.
So here is the problem: I was using my phone as a navigation in my car. The battery was low, so I used the car charger and kept it plugged, while driving. I observed, that even though I was charging my phone via car charger, the battery continued to get low and finally the phone turned off. After reaching home, I plugged my phone with an original quick charger from Xiaomi. Unfortunately I was not able to charge my phone and it got stuck in a bootloop, with a phone showing Mi Logo, vibrating and switching off repeatedly.
When I connect the phone with the laptop, it is shortly recognized (when it is booting) and then disconnected and again and again. I can go to fastboot mode but I cannot flash my phone using MiFlash, because I get an error: Failed. Low battery.
Does anyone know the solution? I would really appreciate any help.

Are you on miui or a custom rom?
I think I know what problem you are facing, your device's battery is actually drained of all the power, like it empty. So drained that it doesn't even have the energy to turn on the phone to get power. I had a lenovo a560 last year, and it had the same problem, so what i had to do was either leave it for charging and pray that it begins charging (and sometimes after 3 or 4 hours the battery started charging as normal when it got 1% battery), or the second method was that i took the removable battery out and charged it externally using wires. The second method worked since the battery got enough power, to keep the phone on during charging.
Now the problem is that redmi note 4 doesn't have a removable battery, so either you can leave the phone for charging, and actually forget about it for a day, or the only other thing is that you have to visit a service center.
Not joking about the charging process but that is the only thing you can do.

But wait, if the phone is able to stay in fastboot mode, why not charge it there? Like just open fastboot mode, and connect the charger. It will atleast charge some percent.

Hi, i thought about it before, but the phone was staying in fastboot mode for a very short time, to short to charge any resonable amount of power, and kept rebooting quickly. I left the phone for two days without trying to fix it and I tried just now to go into fastboot and try to charge. It stays now for quite a time in fastboot so I will keep my fingers crossed that I will be able to charge. I will update here if it was a success or not. Meanwhile, thank you for all your ideas! Unfortunately, no good results. I kept my phone in fastboot mode multiple times, but I was not able to charge my phone. Turning off fastboot is only causing phone to stuck in bootloop.
I also had an impression, that the phone was not warm at the back, where the battery is. Now I am starting to think that the battery is completely dead and I have to change it. But how is it even possible, that after 8 MONTHS the battery is completely f***ed up?
Can I somehow check the state of the battery? I would like to be sure, that there is no way to bring the battery back to life and I really have to go somewhere to change it. I am really reluctant to have a battery from some unknown company. :crying:

Are you rooted?
This is really a kernel fault man, I had the same issues with mediatek Chipsets before, but you are saying in "8 months", so that means you are well covered in warranty. You can send an e-mail to Xiaomi customer care or visit a service centre with the phone bill. I am pretty sure a faulty battery or such happening can be covered using warranty, plus I would suggest NOT to get the battery changed from a 3rd party store.

Sorry, I actually don't know much about the phones, so I don't know what 'rooted' means. I never did anything with my phone, software or whatever more than required.
With the warranty there is a different problem in my case: I bought my phone in China when I was there for my business trip and I live in Europe (yeah I know, my own fault, I should have bought it at home). I have bill and everything but I guess it will not help. Besides, Xiaomi gives 6 months warranty for battery (in case this is really the battery).

Knowing that you are not rooted is a positive thing when regarding the warranty, ok so here is the thing which you should do. But first of all please stop the battery charging process, since this can now be harmful and can damage the components. Ok so here's what you should do -
[email protected]
Send an email to that address regarding the battery problem. And provide the details including about the drainage of battery, and the methods which you tried. Plus attach the bill also. It doesn't really matter where you bought it, because the bill serves as to give them information that the device you own is actually bought by you, and it contains details about device like IMEI etc. If they respond and say that you can send your device to them, (in this case they will give you an address) you should do that. If they say they cannot help it, then consider getting a repair from a local shop.
I just checked my phone's inside and found out that you cannot externally charge the battery, so this means you need a repair, unfortunately.
Before ending this reply I just wanna clear the fact that,
The battery isn't damaged, it just isn't able to get power,(here it is because of the device) this means that if somehow some energy can be provided to the battery, the battery need not be replaced.
I wish you luck , may you be able to fix your phone again.

I am still waiting for the response from Global Service. If nothing happens, I will go to local 'mi center', where I know they can repair xiaomi phones, but not on warranty.
Apart from that, phone is still dead, but I have not tried yet anything else. I found this: https://xiaomifirmware.com/guides-and-tips/fix-bootloop-redmi-note-4-mtk/
But I am not sure, if this should work. Anyone have tried?

That post shows you how to enter deep flash mode. You can give it a try. If that works, Voila, If it does't better go the service center.
So I got the response from service (it took them ages). Maybe it will help someone:
With respect to your concern, I would request you to please follow some troubleshooting steps in order to resolve your issue:
Try to charge your device with another compatible charger for at least 30 minutes
Long press power button for 10-15 seconds and check whether the device is responding or not
If the issue persists please follow the below mentioned steps:
Note: The below mentioned procedure deletes the data you have on your phone.
Sign Out from your Mi Account :-
Go to the settings
Select Mi Account
Confirm to Sign out
Create a backup : -
Go to the settings
Go to the additional settings
Go to the backup and reset
Go to the local backup
Go to the backup
Select system and apps
Then, select backup so that a backup would be created
After creating the backup, you can find your backup file through the below mentioned steps:
Go to the "explorer"
Select "storage" option
Then, "MIUI"
You will get a "backup" option

I did not try anything from this yet, I have my phone at home, but maybe it will help some of you.
btw. the previous method from the link (deep flash mode) is not working for me.
PEOPLE I FIXED MY PHONE!!! I used again and again this method, which I have already posted before: https://xiaomifirmware.com/guides-and-tips/fix-bootloop-redmi-note-4-mtk/
I didn't work at the beginning, so I left my phone and actually wanted to wait till I go back home to my country for the weekend and visit Xiaomi service, but FINALLY IT WORKED!!! I cannot explained what was the reason that this time it clicked. My phone was completely drained, left for long time without touching. As a result I have a battery icon now and it is charging, no bootloop anymore. Hope this method would help someone. Be patient and try multiple times!
So it is not software problem causing the bootloop
So it is not a software, but only hardware - the battery - as the only problem in this case. I am facing a very similar case with my Redmi Note 4x Mediatek (4/64 Memory) just starting Friday morning (9Feb). I thought it was charging overnight, but in the morning found the power totally drained, and stucked not be able to recharge for hours. This phone is still under warranty (9month use) but ridiculously the Official Service Agent said they need up to 40days to fix this phone. This is worst experience comparing to other phones I ever had.

Problem with battery? Red blinking light. Now yellow Not able to enter recovery. Not powering up

So, I am having some problems to give a second life to this device.
I bought twice a battery to replace. The first one was clearly a second hand battery sold as new, which lasted 6 months, after which, it started to grow bigger in volume and its performance dropped dramatically lasting half an hour working. I tried to get a refund but no luck.
After that experience I tried a second seller who promises nothing less than 2 years warranty for the battery (wow). I bought a new original one and installed it. It seem in mint condition so I thought it would do it.
It worked everything aparently fine. I even installed a new custom room (i must admit that i am not sure if i did it right) But it appartenly worked. I had cRdroid with android 10 running smoothly on the phone. Not sure at this point if I rebooted after that. I think so.
The nightmare started once the battery ran out (I did it on purpose to calibrate de battery). The phone didn't wake up again. I started to have a blinking red notification led. It seemed not to be charging at all and indicating some problem with EDL mode or with very low battery. The fact is after trying long time charging, several chargers and cables, etc, i managed to get a yellow led light.
But what I can get by now is:
-if I plug a charger with a (sometimes) notification of a stuck 50% level of battery (wtf), sometimes bootloop, sometimes black screen
-Entering in fastboot mode with (vol- + power)
-Not able to enter recovery
-If I try to swich on it does not react to power button in any way.
I tried to flash all stock files by using xiaomimitool but it does not boot system afterthat (although i can get to stock recovery once at least after that)
i tried flashing twrp and it says ok installed but I cannot enter afterwards
and so on..
do i throw the phone away?
btw, it is unlocked and it is rn4 global sd version (mido)
I would have checked the battery voltage before flashing anything.
For me, I would have also taken the old, dead battery and used the the BMS PCB and connector off that and a bench power supply to power it up as a check.

Hello (a bit late).
I find this to be something that I should have done more than a solution now the problem is here. Even tough I don't properly understand your proposition and I find I might not possess the tools that you explain.
I never though that replacing a battery would bring this problems.
I managed to bring back to life the battery. Now is working without problems, but only because I am avoiding the phone from completely discharge the battery and I am charging it before it dies. Otherwise I have the feeling that battery will go under voltage again.
Is there something I can do to avoid this? I have checked voltage with some app and lectures seem to be normal while its working: 4.38 v and going down while it discharges. I do not have the old battery.
