Let me get it straight. You want to unlock your phone and forgot the pin?If yes then try deleting the locksetting.db(Look online for location, ,in data partition)and delete it.

No. What I am looking for is the code edit to allow fingerprint unlock on boot. Every time you restart your phone or if the security times out, you can't use fingerprint to unlock. You have to use the PIN method. There are roms that have added a tweak that allows fingerprint unlocking at boot. I'm trying to find out how to do it?!

Forgot the PIN to an old phone, need to access the device!

I have a backup phone and I dont remember the PIN I used. I previously rooted the phone and installed an ICS ROM (plus a bunch of apps) so I dont want to wipe the phone and start over. Is there any way for me to bypass the PIN lock? I am hoping that since I rooted it this is possible!
Ask to your operator, from the phone side you can't do anything
What about this method? Has anyone been able to get it to work? Keep in mind that the old phone is rooted. I would rather not wipe the phone so I am hoping to find a good solution.

After 5 incorrect tries, I think the phone allows you to sign in with your Google Account

Do you mean you've locked the SIM card or the phone?
If it's the SIM card, you need to speak to the provider to get a PUK code
If it's the phone, you can unlock it by logging in with your Google account after 5 attempts as posted above

Not the SIM, just the PIN code for the phone itself.

Backup password lost. Any way to recover ?

Hi All !
I've used Edge S6 with a great success for 1 month. No issues using fingerprint unlock, etc..
Today i had a problem using the fingerprint to unlock the phone. I've manageŠ² to unlock the screen, but when i try to get to the fingerprint part of Security menu in Settings it asks me for the backup password which i do not recall. Tried all the passwords i could imagine and none worked. Browsed through the Internet and the only method found was to make a hard reset.... DO not want to do this.
Is there any way to reset the backup password ? Or restore it ?
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,

Unlocking multiple devices using the same mi account

Recently I bought 2 phones.
I added both to the same account and successfully unlocked the first one.
In order to unlock another one I have to wait 30 days.
I could try to create another mi account to unlock the second device, but I am afraid that it would permanently prevent me from unlocking it.
Please, let me know what do you think. Do I really have to wait that long?

The best way is to write down your current mi account username n' password and remove it from your device, reboot.
Next, make another one and request Xiaomi to get permissions for unlocking. Or you'll have to wait 30 days with the current one as you explained.

Could you confirm that removing the mi account from the device and reapplying for unlock permission with the new one is safe?
I have already tried to unlock my device and I am afraid that it would be blacklisted for the unlock on xiaomi server if used with another account.

Nah. You can make new one and reapply for permissions.
How to remove the mi account from the device?
I tried to reset device to default, but on the first boot it is back to the way it was before.
If anyone has done it, please share your experience.

We have 3 devices which would mean waiting for 15+30+30 days I can create 3 accounts for reducing the complete waiting time to 15 days in parallel. But this seems to require 3 SIM-Cards as well while I only have one. Otherwise the unlock tool says "Your account isn't associated with a phone number." Now that I attached my SIM-Card to the 2nd Mi Account and starting the next 15 days waiting period, the number was removed from the first one and I'm not sure if I can re-migrate the number back to the 1st account later without starting another 15 or 30 days.
This is very annoying, as I can't wait several month before using the devices with our Custom Rom.

Unlock waiting time?

Hi,
Has anyone tried to unlock the bootloader on their new phone? If so, what was the wait time you were given by Xiaomi? Am curious as recent Xiaomi phones have vastly increased waiting times for unlocking but as this phone is a global model and supposedly developer friendly I am hoping to not have to wait weeks when I receive mine.
Also, as an oem unlock does a full reset, is there any good method for performing a nandroid style backup of all apps and associated settings so if I do have to wait, I don't need to set everything up twice?

not able to apply, after login it just says ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS :/
were u able to apply ?
edit : installed mi unlock on pc then tried, says 1440 hours wtf

AFAIK there is no way to take a nandroid backup without rooting your device. Now if you could root your phone without unlocking the bootloader that might just do.
However there are few exceptions like HELIUM you can try.

Xiaomi changed the bootloader unlock policy. Now, you can unlock the bootloader after 3 days. I just unlocked mine which was showing 720hours.

Has the oem unlock switch actually stuck in the correct position, it's a stupid switch that reverts itself, when you leave the screen you gotta click it a few times, sorry if you knew that already
