I have a Galaxy S7 on verizon. Is there a way on my current phone I could make it so that whenever I am connected to wifi (preferably just whenever I am connected to my home SSID) it will automatically use that for phone calls? Rural area, terrible coverage. Currently I have to put it in airplane mode, and then enable wifi to get it to work.
And also, is there any android phone that does this natively?
I am not sure about Samsung S7 but in Verizon Pixel & Pixel XL you can use WiFi Calling Option.
I think thanks would be appreciated...

Hello there, it's been a long time since I've posted on XDA but I require assistance. I purchased an S6 Edge a few months back and everything is working as should apart from bluetooth tethering.
I have tried with my laptop and my nexus 7 which I have installed in my car, both of which worked fine with my previous HTC M8. After setting up tethering on my phone, the other devices connect and the icon appears indicating that tethering is active and an internet connection is available, but I am not able to actually connect to the internet.
My Samsung is not rooted, unfortunately, as I don't want to trip 'knox' for warranty purposes.
Just to clarify that I am doing everything correctly, I select 'mobile hotspot and tethering' from the settings menu of my S6 Edge, then 'Bluetooth tethering'. This turns on Bluetooth and enables tethering. From my paired devices (Laptop and nexus 7) I select 'Use as internet connection'. The devices connect and the tethering icon appears. No internet connection is available.
I imagine this isn't a common issue as after searching I didn't find any threads indicating the same problem.
What would be the best way to troubleshoot this?
EDIT: I would like to add that Bluetooth file sharing works without problems.
EDIT: I would also like to add that my phone is SIM free, and I use the same provider as with my previous HTC M8 that worked fine.
My android version is still 5.1.1 as the update is not available in my area yet.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Rob.
Update: I manually updated my phone to 6.0.1 (without rooting) as I never got the update pushed to my phone. I am still having the same bt tethering issue. My phone says I'm connected and sharing internet with my other device (nexus 7) but that device isn't connected. My s6 is connected fine, it's just not sharing properly.
I get the same results with my laptop.
Can any body suggest any fixes??
EDIT: If my phone is connected to wifi, it will share that connection. If it is connected to 3g/4g it doesn't share the connection even though the phone itself is connected.
Bump.
I suppose nobody is having this problem. Is there any way to debug what is happening?
I am having the same problem. Trying to bluetooth tether my Galaxy s6 edge to Galaxy S2 tab. Both on Android 6.0.1 It appears that the connection is established, but internet does not work on the tablet. Let me know if you had any luck.
Galay S7 Edge AT&T SM-G935A WIFI Calling ON Even When The Function is Turned Off HELP
Hello guys, as the title says, my Galaxy S7 Edge phone for AT&T uses WIFI when calling even though the function is turned off. This is an AT&T phone but I am using it on the T-Mobile network. I already tried resetting all connections settings, restarting the phone, I disabled all the AT&T related apps, and reinserting the SIM on the phone. The thing is that when I am in the phone while driving (Bluetooth of course), the phone uses WIFI calling and if I move from the WIFI area, the call starts making those old modem sounds and sometimes the call fades. I know it is WIFI calling connected when the WIFI simbol has the little plus (+) sign on it (See attached picture). I just want to turn off this feature. Please help!!!
This sounds like simple question but it is not. The only way so far of removing the WIFI calling is by disabling the WIFI connection HELPPPP Please!!
Hi
I have a Xiaomi Note 8T which I like but it has a very odd problem with WiFi calling. Basically it's only working on "public" hotspots.
For example it works on my train I take to work... It works on the London underground.. it works in Starbucks and McDonald's but it doesn't work on my network at home.
I've tried using different WiFi channels at home but I can't figure it out. I don't block any outgoing connections at home .. my Samsung S10 works for WiFi calling at home . But not the Xiaomi
Any ideas why?
The phone connects to WiFi at home and works fine just calling doesn't work
Thanks
update to this thread:
it works in Airplane mode when I turn WiFi on. Turn airplane mode off and it stops working (actually the WiFi calling icon is still there, but make a call and it fails, then the icon disappears) but in airplane mode, wifi calls work perfectly. I just don't want to have to keep turning airplane mode on/off every time im at home because I forget to turn it off when i go out.
Hello, this is an old thread but it seems to be a COMMON STANDARD in the whole US Network for anyone besides the one sold by TMO and ATT.
Any news how this can be solved ?
Hello everybody, I just bought the WiFi version and I think that I saw somewhere that you can use your galaxy phones data (like WiFi tethering) with only one button. Does anybody knows something about that? Can't find it anywhere.
On my Samsung Note 10+: go to Settings, Connections, Mobile Hotspot and Tethering, turn Mobile Hotspot on.
There's also a toggle for Mobile Hotspot on the quick panel (the panel that you get by dragging it down) , that's the quickest way.
This also works on other Samsung phones (don't know them all of course) , not sure about other brands.
I know about tethering. I was looking for something else and I think I find it. Is bluetooth tethering, if the tablet doesn't find a WiFi network it uses the phones data through Bluetooth. I try it with tab s7+ and note 10 plus but I run a speed test and the download speed is extremely low 0.25 Mbps...
hello, i can get wifi calling but i dont have the option to set it as default the option used to be below wifi calling settings but its not anymore. if i set it on flight mode and turn wifi i will dial using wifi calling so i know it works but i would like to be on wifi calling everytime im in my wifi does anybody know how to set it using another method?
Phone: Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G with Poco X3 firmware
Carrier: T Mobile USA
To my experience, with the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G (China) when I put the poco rom my modem stopped working and no phone signal. This rom don't work good with this model, even are they same Chopin codename. My suggestion is to put back the original ROM.
Hmm. That's Strange, mine is running great no signal loss and everything works, I think my problem is carrier related when I had at&t I saw that option to always use wifi calling I switch to t mobile and now I don't see it, but wifi calling works if I put it in flight mode and turn on wifi it will call,
