Has anyone tried the 2gb SD cards from A-data or the ones from Expansys? I would like to know if they're compatible with the qtek 9090.
They're supposed to be high-speed but I guess that won't make much difference if the device doesn't support this. Doesn't matter, I just want to know if it'll work or not.
Also, does anyone have any experience with the reliability of these cards? They don't explode after two and a half read/write operations or anything?

I never try that brand but im using 2GB from sandisk on my BA it work fine...
I have a 1GB A-DATA 60x speed and have no problems.
GREAT, thank you both -- dankjewel and dakujem (hope this is correct, jozefr). God I love this forum!
yes it's correct DAKUJEM = THANKS
btw if you get the 2GB A-DATA let me know if it's really ok, i'm thinking about upgrading from 1GB to 2GB too. And the A-DATA 150x is the one i think i buy too
there is a 4GB card available as well http://cgi.ebay.com/New-150X-AData-...yZ103409QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Just wondering if any of you had used a Kingston 64mb card. It seems that it only works whenever it wants in my BA, but works just fine when i use it with a readon on my PC. Just trying to figure out if it's the phone or it's time to get a new card.
Thanks in advance ...
The 2Gb ADATA 150x card DOES work!
And I think I read that someone used the 4gig model also succesfull...Dont know the thread anymore...? :?

In theory you should be able to use any size of card. The card itself handes the physical addressing, so things like the 137 GB limits of IDE should be a thing of the past. If the device has an issue with it, it's because the device is buggy.
Has anyone tried the 4gb minisd on the Wizard, yet? I'm thinking about gettin 1 but I'm don't know if the Wizard/tmo mda will support it or see the entire 4gb.
I found this while looking for a 4gb sd to buy, and now i will just stick with the 2gb i have in fear of this same thing happening after i buy one for my 8125
i knowits not a Wizard, but still...

It is a scam. Read the feedback. These are hacked 2GB and smaller cards that have been formatted to be 4GB, but that greatly shortens their shelf life, and in most cases they'll die within a few months, if they last that long.
How do you hack something so freakin small?
I'm not positive, but I think it says in the manual (8125) that it will only recognize up to 2GB ... Probably will change with later updates...just as the earlier PCz would only recognize so much RAM and HDD space until their CMOS was updated.
It may be a hardware limit. I'm from the DRAM side of things, so I'm not exactly certain how flash is addressed, but I do know that with DRAM, most computers are limited by the physical number of address drivers that are built into the chipset. Just looking at a Mini-SD, I'd guess that it's a serial device, so maybe it's just a matter of a firmware upgrade to change the bit size of the address data - or maybe it's something completely different and I have no idea what I'm talking about (it wouldn't be the first time!)

I've never heard of a 4GB miniSD, before this post. (I have seen 4GB SD cards advertised, could there be a confusion with that?)
If there are 4GB miniSD cards available, could someone post a link to them?
Here is a link :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270025489570
much more expensive than 2 2GB cards though ... I'll need to wait a little bit to get a cheaper one for my (future) Wizard (I'm waiting for the one I've just bought on ebay )
beware!!! their are fake sd cards on ebay!!! Usually the cheap ones are the fake ones!
They are also on Amazon.com for $146. They claim that they have them in stock and others have mentioned that the picture of the card has been edited--the number 4 that is. I am somewhat tempted to try it if Amazon will back me.
here is a story of a ripp-off on ebay : http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/mall/76525-4gb-minisd-card.html
4g miniSD that works
I have purchased a 4G miniSD from http://www.emartbuy.co.uk/index.php.
It works. There is a small problem with access time, i.e. it takes longer to write to and access the card than the 2G did, but apart from that there are no issues.
All I did was use a card reader and copy everything from the 2G card to the 4G card, put it in the device and away it went, like nothing had changed. Except now there is twice the storage. YAY. The card is brandless and is probably a reflashed card, but I don't care because it works for me.
I have an Imate KJAM.
I have puchased on from Moby memory,
http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?prod=miniSD_4096mb_MOBY_002
Seems to work OK in my Xda MiniS, and IQ
Cheers

Don't be excited by HTC FAQ! The answers are common for all the models. I bet that answer was written way before TyTN out, or even before SD 2.0 specs.
Did you ever see a TyTN with WM2003SE? So why don't you ask yourself why it is mentioned in the answer for TyTN then...

If it's not a SHDC card it should work... And I do believ it's quite unlikely we will see soon SDHC micro SD cards or phones (They are more targeted at cameras)
So all in all I think it will work. Anyway given the price I'll buy one just to try
2+GB cards
Hi I have asked the HTC support and here is their answer:
Hi,
I would like to know the maximum card size it will handle. I have found
this information on the HTC website:
*************
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/faq.html?id=29
Support: HTC TyTN
What is the maximum SD card size compatible with my device?
For Win CE 2003 =>General for SDIO is 1GB.
For WM 5.0 => SD Card is 4GB and Mini-SD is 12GB
****************
But is it a strange answer, most probably not written about this device.
The TyTN does not have Mini-SD but micro-SD AND it never had WinCE 2003.
So what is the maximum card capacity it can handle? Thanks.
Another (quick) question is if there is a difference between TyTN and Hermes. Aren't they the same?
Thanks for your answers.

Dear Customer,
I will attempt to answer each of your questions in turn:
Memory Card Capacity
There is a typo on our website which lists the maximum storage card size as 12gb. This is incorrect. The maximum memory our devices can hold is 2gb. The devices do not support the SDHC formatting measure, and as such, larger cards are not compatible.
TyTN vs. Hermes
These devices are identical. The Hermes is the pre-release name for the TyTN. There are no differences between the two.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html

I hope it will help others, too.
But yet there are guys using 4Gb mini cards in their Trinitys, I believe it was...
Once again proving that the help from the manufacturer is worthless.
Not for nothing, but I went through this with quite a few Motorola phones... and each time they told me the newer, higher capacity card wouldn't work. And, in all but one instance were they right.
I mean, if the 4Gb card hasn't even been released, how would they know whether or not it works? More likely that should say "The maximum memory we have tested our devices to hold is 2Gb"
Anyone know if this is a good card?
Does anyone know how much extra it is to ship to Canada?
EDIT: I just called, and shipping is going to be about $30 US...what a deal breaker...Damn it. It's because they use UPS and they charge like $20+ brokerage fee.
I ordered one.
If it actually ships... I'll post up my results when I get it (I've had 2 backorders for teh 4Gb micro card fall through up till now).
Specification of SD cards allows max 2GB(doesnt matter if SD, miniSD, microSD), but fortunately dont know how it can somehow fake fs and os to access 4GB - maybe thru operating system i really dont know but it works. Best for answer to this Quest. could be mammaich igues. At least I hope it will be SD not SDHC. but let us know
I've got a 4Gb SD card I bought about a year ago... says nothing about the "HC" on the card or in the literature, and it worked fine with the devices I needed it to work with... devices whose manufacturers told me it wouldn't work with.
The way I look at it, if it doesn't work in the Hermes, either it will eventually, or the next phone I get it'll work in.
wait and see
I think it all comes down to just waiting until someone sticks one in the Hermes.
And if it doesn't work... maybe there be a hack to make it work.
what I want to see if this doesn't work is for them to come out with a normal (non SHDC) format 4gb (or larger) card.
4gb ... hell I want 12gb

That is true. However, a proper test would be to actually transfer 4gb to the card. Then back and forth to the pc.

Yes I've seen it in the past too, pluggin a larger then specified memory card into devices and it sees the ram space, just can not access it.
Thats what updated roms and patches are for ... and I think this is the right site for this ... just gotta wait and see.
It feels like a year since I've seen 4gb flashmem has been advertised ... and ETA on these?
So, can anyone confirm or deny these work?
Ok, so from my research, the 8GB Micro SD is not yet widely available or even on the shelves (correct me if I wrong). But, according to the various sites I've looked at these size cards are well on there way to being released.
I know the new standard of SDHC SD card are available in 8GB and possibly above, but I have now got a Hermes, so wanted to try going higher in Micro SD. Presently I use both a 2GB and a 4GB Micro SD, depending on what I'm needing to store.
Size wise 4GB it great as options for storage are vast.
But I wanted to see it there was any further news as to the new 8GB or higher that I'd read somewhere?
Having looked on line I could only find the following:
6GB Micro SD
==========
Pre-ordering only?
1: http://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/SanDisk/6GB/Micro/SDHC/Card
= SanDisk 6GB Micro SDHC Card £69.99
8GB Micro SD
==========
Pre-ordering only?
2: http://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/SanDisk/8GB/Micro/SDHC/Cardhttp://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/SanDisk/6GB/Micro/SDHC/Card
= SanDisk 8GB Micro SDHC Card £99.99
Since upgrading the Hermes ROM on my phone to WM6 which was purely to allow it to use the 4GB Micro SD I had bought (I swear by SanDisk as have NEVER had a problem with them in over 5 years of assorted SD cards)
Am going to keep looking over the next few weeks and would be interested in any feedback if any others have found any news about higher capacity versions.
I have no idea if WM6 will be able to read higher than 4GB but my guess would be a resounding YES! on the grounds of what I have a feeling is WM6 full? SDHC support. whereas WM5 on the Orange version of the Hermes 'SPV M3100' had only partial support and can only recognize 2GB sized Cards.

PS: if this post is in the wrong place or out of date can a mod sort it out and remove or move it. Many thanks. Just wanted to share my interest and findings on these Micro beasties thats all.
You accidentally posted the 6GB page, if you change the "6" to "8" in the URL you'll get what you meant for the second post.
Wow thanks for those links can't wait to get my hands on 8GB of freakin memory! I'm very impressed with MicroSDHC and am so glad the Hermes can take the always (albeit gradual) increasing card capacities, without new hardware needed.
Take that, iPhone! (don't worry, i love you too)

The six (6) GB link was intentional bud. I have researched "above and beyond" the 4GB size. Happened to find the 6GB link on same site so added it as I didn't know if like myself others were also unaware of this specification.
Cheers anyway.

When a representative from Orange looked into this on my behalf, he also was told me that HTC was only recommending that the Hermes be used with 2GB Micro SD cards, as that was the limit they (HTC) would guarantee.
When I first tested cards out prior to a firmware update to WM6, the above was indeed true.
However, my Hermes now runs WM6 and uses a 4GB SDHC Micro SD Card on a daily basis without ever having a problem.
I have no idea if this will be true of higher spec cards such as the 6GB or the 8GB or even anything higher, but I feel confident that it will. But that is just my opinion as until tried and tested its down to guesswork whether or not other card sizes will be recognized.
PS: you asked what is the difference between micro SDHD and micro SDHC?
The answer is that I have NEVER heard of Micro SDHD. To me that is a High Definition tag and not one that refers to any card type.
I've only ever known SDHC.
Even Google comes back with: "Did you mean SDHC" Maybe others know of this type of card?

You could walk into a verizon store anytime and pick up a card, if you wanted. Other people have been able to order 4gb cards-- you could, also. READ!!!
Transcend 4GB SD with Exec loses data randomly --please help.
Hello there,
I read you people are using 4GB SD without any problems, you might solve my problem.
I am using one on my Exec with WM6,(ROM 2.02.02,Radio 1.15, Protocol 42.51.P8, no ext rom) and facing a weird problem. The card loses the data for no apparent reason. The folder viz. My document has just been emptied and I lost my all ebooks--150 MB.
The file explorer shows the card contains 776 Mb data while the 'Resco explorer' shows 1007 Mb,in setting-memory-storage card it shows 1007 Mb,but it actually has only 776 Mb data, so I have lost 150 Mb data permanently and 300 Mb storage space on card!
This is the THIRD time it has happened and on previous occasions I had the card replaced.I am fed up with this problem,is it the card itself or the Exec or the WM6 or the ROM which is causing this problem?
Is there any way to retrieve the data and the memory lost from the card, for I think it is there and it just hidden somewhere...I hope.
I am not a techie,(medical doctor--using Exec more as a PDA than a communicator)hence the lengthy description ,thanks in advance, sorry for the intrusion.
bye.
sorry for the hastles your having
I wish I could help you further but apart from what I have read relating to the Hermes I can't.
I would hazard a guess and say that it sounds more like the Operating System / ROM which perhaps is not handling the card properly.
Best if you put up a new post on the main board and ask for help.
I hope you get it sorted as I know from my own problems similar to your missing card data how really annoying this problem is. I do know that I have had two SD card made by transcend. I used them for 6 months without a hitch. I put movies and files on them both for University and work use and used them in my previous phone which was an English version of the Prophet (Orange SPV M600)
Point is that in my own experience, Transcend are indeed a reliable brand or storage card. So it doesn't sound like a card problem in my opinion. Perhaps you may new to look at updating the ROM? I have no knowledge of your phone model "Exec" so can't help. But as I said best if you ask for help on the board. Maybe on various boards if you've had no luck already. Someone may have previously owned an Exec and might be able to shed some light on this problem.
Kalya-- You need to post your problem on the Universal forums, not the Hermes. There, hopefully, you will get the help you need. Different models react differently to various things. May you find your solutions...

From what I've been told, Sandisk made a deal with Verizon so they are the only approved suppliers in the US for one year. You can buy the 4GB miro SDHC card from them or any Verizon distributor (even Circuit City). However, they are more expensive than Amazon...

So I'm wondering if anyone has tried. I have a 256GB card already that works fine but I'm running out of space (Yes I'm carrying quite a lot of music with me and yes I do see it as a good thing) my music collection is bigger than 256GB and would like to carry more so that's why I asking.
I know the max is 256GB but I don't know if that's down to hardware (and card slot) or what
No one?
From my knowledge it's only up to 256, so if you get a 512, it may not work. Sorry haven't tried it yet, but as per the spec of poco it's only up to 256. I had a different phone before, a galaxy a8 2018 which suppprted up to 256 as well and when i tried my friend's 512gb it didn't recognize it, so most likely same will happen with the poco

I would also have like to use a 512GB card. Does anyone know why this limitation exists? Is it a hardware constraint with the card reader, or a firmware or O/S constraint? I naively thought that SDXC compatibility would allow anything up to 2TB, but it's clearly not as simple as that.

That was definitely not my experience with other phones. Usually cards with higher than phone rated capacity work just fine.
From my understanding when phone manufacturers say up to 256 gb SD card supported they are saying that cause at that point of time that's the highest SD card available in the market. Most phones that can support 256gb will support higher capacities too.

Interesting video - thanks. So in theory a FAT32-formatted 512Gb SD card should be supported by any phone that supports FAT32 and SDXC? It's a shame there isn't a more recent video which tries 512GB cards in current smartphones.
In older days, when external storage limited size was 32Gb some Motorola's users (including me with Rokr Z6) used to divide 64Gb as two 32Gb mountable partitions.
You can try it too.

In older days, when external storage limited size was 32Gb some Motorola's users (including me with Rokr Z6) used to divide 64Gb as two 32Gb mountable partitions.
You can try it too.

i used to do that sometimes too, and even use sdcard as internal memory with some apps and hacks...

lucky you, or maybe i was using cheap cards on cheap phones ?
I have a 512Gb Huawei memory card on my Poco F1 working fine, I haven't reached the 256Gb capacity because I've just received today. But so far so good ?
Lexar 512GB 633x (black / blue) from Aliexpress is working fine. At the moment 217GB is filled on the card.
(AOSP Lineage 16)
Sir,
Sir,
I don't know if you have found an answer to your question as of yet but I have. I've purchased several different 512gb cards knowing that I had some use for them somewhere. The fact is that the Poco F1 does see 512 gigabytes... And then down the rabbit hole we go. After about 20 to 30 minutes of you installing the card and moving over all kinds of information, the Poco F1 begins to forget things. That's the only way I know how to put it. all the sudden some of the stuff that you have moved over to the card is not reachable even though you still see some of the shortcuts or some of the things that point to it depending on what program you're using and the next thing you know after about an hour and a half two hours it also can't find those either and then some of the program start to crash. These are not programs that I have you some third-party where to move over to the card at all. I didn't move over any software to the card I'm just talkin about moving over some of the things that it was to the card. and then you'll notice after a few more hours that the card is unreadable. The way that you can fix this is to go ahead and put it into any computer and I used a program called mini it's a freeware program to recover the lost partition. then I put it right back in the phone and at first the phone fights with and everything else but you can get it to look at it and see it again only to repeat the exact same problem over and over and over again. The problem seems to be exacerbated if you were to use a torrent program to save data to the driver's if it was a download folder from multiple sources at once. I tried everything I could. I even tempted fate a little bit by saying if I could use aparted the cell phone version in order to partition the drive into two different types of partitions one of them course being the f2fs partition I was trying to see if I could successfully divide the memory card into two partitions so that the computer or cell phone would see them as two separate entities does relieving the problem of it seeing larger than 256. this was not successful though I cannot promise that I did everything correctly. I would greatly appreciate any information you happen to have about this. I have several of these 512gb cards and some of which I saved a lot of money on some of which I spend a lot of money on but they all seem to operate the exact same with the exact same problem. if you had any suggestions on how to add that to a Asus tablet that I'm now having the exact same problem with and much lower micro SD card total capacity sizes than the Poco F1 s I would greatly appreciate that too. The Asus laptop that I'm dealing with is an Asus e203m and it comes with 32GB of real special fast memory that uses hard drive and so you can see we're picking this up for almost nothing is a great deal provided that you're a little tech-savvy can work with clouds quite a bit and hopefully find the solution to the problem and adding a 500 gigabyte micro SD card. The problem is that you can't partition those the way that you'd like or you think that you could. but for me I really love computers and love to turn branches on the weekend so to speak. I'd also love to learn anyting you might be willing to share about partitioning and the like.I know that windows will only see the first partition of a microSD card. but then who wants to be limited to just Windows anyway.

I have Samsung Evo Select 512 gigs and been using it since 6 months.
I have it full almost 90-95%+ full everytime as i load a lot of movies in it. During the time of writing it was 97% full.
It is formatted to exfat and is working perfectly.
There is no data loss or anything like that after 256 gigs.
I hope this answers all your questions.
If you have any more questions just let me know.
