Random Slowdowns in Pie roms - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

I keep getting random slowdowns no matter if battery saver is on or off. The whole device just slows down and even stuff like scrolling and ui animations run in slow-motion. This did not happen on Oreo roms, only been having this issue in Pie roms. Sometimes the phone runs as snappy as ever and sometimes it chugs really hard. Nothing is running in the background except for keyboard and Google Services, have >=1GB of free RAM at all times
I'm running Havoc OS 9.0 build 2018-11-14 on Kate

Happens to me too on havoc 2.0. Probably something to do with RAM management I think.

I'm on the same version , but I don't face any of these slowdowns. Do you have 2GB version?

Yeah I switched back to Cardinal AOSP on Oreo, works like a charm

No problems like this on Nos Pie

Try to clean flash & see if the issue is still there.

REQUEST- Viper Rom Review

Would love to hear from those that have been using the Viper Custom Rom on their experience so far.
Hows it working?
Stable?
Camera, wi-fi, data, sms? Everything working, and if not, what not.
Battery Life?
Resets and multitasking
Using a launcher with it, if so what?
Other tweeks we should know about.
There is a thread on Viper of course in the Dev section, but most of that is technical as it should be, looking here for more like an average user who can figure out how to flash a rom review.
Thanks
Hows it working? Overall quite well. Battery life seems better than the other ROMs I've tried (Fresh and Pokemon one)
Stable? Extremely.
Camera, wi-fi, data, sms? All working, still having issues randomly with wifi but I think that patch was released last night.
Battery Life? Touched on above, but around 14-17 hours depending on usage.
Resets and multitasking No resets at all when I was getting 3 or so a day with Fresh (and I love Fresh so not hating). Multitasking.... is an issue but that seems to be sense 4 in general. Its just slow.
Using a launcher with it, if so what? Just Sense at this time.
Basically Viper + the mods you want = sexy!
But I will admit I loved the tweaks from the pokemon rom

Its pretty much the same thing as the stock ROM. But the battery's life better and it has a couple mods implemented. Everything runs just as stable as the stock ROM. Multitasking is still nonexistent. viperROM still lags, but it lags less then the stock ROM.
Hows it working?
Great - haven't had any issues at all.
Stable?
Very much so.
Camera, wi-fi, data, sms? Everything working, and if not, what not.
Everything is working.
Battery Life?
When I plug it in for the night, I generally have over 50% left, and thats after 13+ hours unplugged, 2-4 hours screen on time, an hour or so of spotify streaming, screen set to auto-brightness (with vin's fixes so they're a bit brighter than stock viper), push everything, and the only thing I turn off is bluetooth (because I don't use it). all on crappy signal except for maybe 2 hours of wi-fi.
Resets and multitasking
Never had a reset. Multitasking works great for me (although I rarely actually use it). But recently I paused temple run, made a call, read a book on aldiko for a while, sent a few emails, and the game was waiting for me when I got back. I get the occational screen refresh in the browser when I go back to that, but that rarely happens. I don't seem to be running into some of the issues that I've seen other people post
Using a launcher with it, if so what?
Sense - I tried other launchers, but I haven't seen any stuttering or lag with sense, and I actually like how its set up. Doesn't have landscape rosie, but you can't have everything.
Other tweeks we should know about.
I also flashed Vin's Honeycomb battery mod; Socrguru's combo zip that includes both Vin's updated APM mod (with the higher auto-brightness levels than stock viper) and RunAndHide's button mods (that remap recent to menu, and longpress home to recent); smw6180's linkify zip, and Photo Unlocker to fix facebook pics in 3rd party apps. Those are the only mods outside of stock Viper that I was really looking for.

Did you found a way to fix this? I've got the same issue on my phone.

mido - wow, great phone. whats gains from replacing MIUI?

I usually put a new rom on a phone straight away! but i like this phone a lot in its current state with MIUI 8.2 Global. My only negatives are:
smart lock doesnt work with my smartwatch.
it seems to close apps too fast in the background.
i prefer a stock interface.
How are the other ROMS in comparison? Many positives and negatives? I'm torn between leaving MIUI on there / rooting and trying a few different ROMS....
is the stock camera better than generic play store cameras?
Thanks for your time

Stock camera is better.
You can replace the stock launcher with any launcher from the PlayStore like Nova Launcher to get a more Android like feeling.
MIUI RAM management really isn't great but you can disable it it developer options

You can put a new ROM in this phone too. AEX is the best for me. Try it.
As for your background apps closing problem - go to Settings > Battery > Battery Saver and turn it off. Then open Security > Permissions > Autostart and allow all apps to autostart. Then restart your phone. MIUI breaks push notifications for most apps with these settings so changing them will fix that issue too.

Android P and EMUI

Is Huawei supposed to release Android Pie with EMUI 9 or 8.2.0 ? Has anyone seen/used EMUI 8.2 or 9 and can comment on any changes there?
Thx
Beta test started some days ago in China. Emui 9.0+Android P
Still don't know anything about the changelog since the beta version hasn't been released yet.
Running beta no particular difference in emui.

Yes.
There is both an option to have a single multifunction button, or no buttons at all.
Only issue is that no button gestures only works with EMUI launcher. Some functions work in other launchers, but go to home screen doesn't unless you use their launcher.

No buttons does not work properly for me in Poco Launcher. Whenever I use the gesture for home screen it goes to recent apps. Same issue as all other launchers. Except EMUI launcher.

Worse than Oreo
How is the camera in android pie?
The camera looks like the one that launched with p20. But it has the old night shot mode, sometimes it wants to take pictures for up to 30 seconds, what makes it impossible to do it hand-held.
It has the 940fps slow-mo from the p20pro, with the same weird looking artifacts (I guess a lot of frames are based on interpolation).
Portraits are still horrible and obviously optimized for female asian needs (brightened face, soft skin, general lack of sharpness). Still way behind of the GoogleCam Port.
There is also the 4d autofocus from p20. Haven't tested it yet, but since the video quality was mediocre even on p20, the hopes are low.
All in all it is a nice update and catches up with the p20 series. But it's not up to date (missing hdr pro option for slfront facing camera from mate 20 lite, hand-held night mode...), but still fails on making use of the full potential of this hardware.
Edit: Forgot to mention a positiv thing: automode now switches to portrait mode as soon as it detects a face - but could be a bit faster.

insane memory problem on 2gb kenzo

hello lads
i'm using 2gb kenzo with havoc os v2.9
my launcher: poco launcher (installed as system app, havoc default launcher removed)
i also removed/deleted swap region and disabled swap/zram totally because i thought apps were transferred to swap region and thats why everything was so slow to load again but i learned that wasn't the case.
my problem is this:
phone can't and doesn't use all of the available (1845mb) memory. the lowest free ram amount i have seen was ~240 mbs. when i see that both my game froze so i had to quit and phone launcher was removed from memory/app killed which takes up ~100mb ram and took 10 seconds to relaunch.
i mean if there is ~240mb free memory why is the launcher removed from the RAM!? it's only 100mb! and if there is ~240mb free memory why is my game is freezing at the first place!? i mean if there isn't enough memory game just should be force killed or frozen, whatever etc.. but there is no reason for any kind of freeze in the whole system, not the notification bar, not the launcher, not the keyboard!
also system ui (~100mb memory usage) is killed too! i can't even see the notification bar when trying to do anything else on the phone... i have to wait 5-10 seconds to load it when i swipe to open it.
when i use firefox, upon loading up a new page, free ram goes up from 400 to 700 mbs! so the phone is killing launcher, gboard and even system ui in the background to give more ram to firefox, which is ok and logical => only and if only there isn't free ram! but while system is doing that there is already 400 mbs of free ram! first those free ram should be given to the firefox, and when that is not enough system only then should start killing other apps, and should never kill apps like launcher, system ui, telephone ui, even keyboard! also there always more than 250mb is free when using firefox, but launcher, gboard, system ui is already dead at this point, i can't even take calls... and those took exactly 250 mbs total! i mean if there is always at least 250mb free ram while using firefox why is my launcher, gboard and system ui apps are killed and removed from the RAM! it doesn't make any sense to me at all.
what can we do to fix this stupid ram management? is this problem linux based or only android is like this?
thanks in advance for any kind of explaining/url that explain the problem thoroughly in technical terms
example pictures: i'll upload video if anyone wants to see how the user experience is for further investigation.

U need zram if u r on 2gb kenzo. And havoc is not good idea. Havoc has too much customisation make ram heavy. So use lighter and moderate roms like Aex.
Excrima x28 is default with zram.
