Hi,
I am using cricket and I have the option of enabling hotspot in my mate 20 pro. However, after I enable it and use another devices to connect to the hotspot, the devices just show "no internet". Have anyone ever encountered this and found a solution?
Thanks!
Cricket specifically has to support your specific device in order for you to use hotspot. They will likely never support it. From my experience the only devices they support are the ones they sell and some of the mainstream ones from AT&T like the galaxies and Iphones. I still don't think they support the s9 plus and note 9 tbh.

That is incorrect. The hotspot's functionality is dependent on the device not the sim card. I use cricket, but I don't use a cricket phone (which disables hotspot unless you pay to turn on the feature). I've used various phones with a cricket sim with no issues.

You're wrong youve just gotten lucky to use a phone that is supported. It has never worked on the other 10-12 non supported phones I've owned over the last couple years.

I'm not going to argue with you. The 10-12 phones that hotspot didn't work for you was user error. With 5 oneplus phones, 7 Samsung phones, 2 Huawei phones, one smartisan, and one xiaomi phone and other brands I have more than enough experience using hotspot. Hotspot has always worked for me flawlessly. It's okay if you're wrong you're only human.

LOL you're hilarious
I'm having the same problem on cricket.
Yet all my other unlocked phones NOT bought from cricket nor cricket branded work.
OP did you find a solution?

False. You need an unlocked phone that is GSM. I've had tons of non branded cricket phones that have worked with wifi hotspot on cricket sim.
Guys, you tell some mystical stories.
There is no any connections between Cricket and tethering - tethering only depends on device, not on data provider. Packet routing work only on local device.
Back to the problem, the way to fix is next - open your APNs. There is should be two of them - one is set as default, second - disabled (named as "mht" in my case). You need to open this disabled APN, and remove "dun" from "APN type" field. Now just re-enable APN and feel free to use tethering.
Sometimes there is a line missing in the build.prop too. Mostly it's just the APN. I had to fix a phone that wouldn't tether by an ADB operation. That was unusual but google searching did find me the solution.
My providor here in Australia doesn't block tethering but that phone most certainly stopped it working till the ADB mod corrected it. They do have an APN that I need to punch in manually every time I get a new device so I'm well used to looking there first.
Even with system updates the new APN sticks. A reset would erase it though.

Looks like, so far, Three are the only network not to have announced they are stocking the Nexus 6P.
I for one am hoping they are just delaying their announcement!
If anyone has any information regarding this matter, please post here.
Don't think three stocked the Nexus 6 at release did they?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Three did not stock the N6 so very doubtful they will do the 6P
I think a few places never stocked the 6. This time however, everyone except Three are stocking the 6P.
They can't be the only people not to negotiate a contract to sell the 6P, surely!
Seems that way. No plans as yet to sell it, and as such I'd imagine it won't work with VoLTE on Three either.
Annoying as I've ordered one and am on Three.

Not good, any more news on this??
No. I guess we can safely say VoLTE won't be possible on the 6P with Three. That is unless we get the ability to manually enter the relevant IMS settings (like APNs for data), in which case it should be possible.
I have heard rumours that the inTouch app may be updated to allow you to make calls over the app, just like you can use it for calling over Wi-Fi without 'proper' Voice over Wi-Fi support.
In this way, Three will then (apparently) give you access to the 800MHz LTE network (which is available in areas where there's no 3G to fall back to for voice) once you're registered and signed in.
That too could solve the problem, but it's a bit of a bodge and by no means going to happen for definite.

When I first ordered the 6P i went into a three store and asked about the VoLTE and they said they should support it.
Remember they dont brand/lock the phones they sell anymore. Can't remember if they put extra software on though.

They don't lock but they do brand. It isn't like the old days, with custom ring tones, colours, loads of extra apps (free trials of aps, or whatever) installed but it's still a custom ROM with settings unique to them, from APNs to the IMS settings needed for VoLTE (and Wi-Fi calling).
If you want to use VoLTE on Three today, or SuperVoice as they call it, you need to flash the Three ROM on your Galaxy S5, LG G4 or the other few devices given access - and requiring a software update.
Apple is the exception. These are never branded and the carrier settings are the same on EVERY single phone. I do wish Google would do something similar with regards to carrier settings, as then every phone on any network could be made to work properly with all the available features.
Given this is Xda, it's worth noting that there are sometimes other ways to get a generic phone to work with VoLTE but it's not something Joe Public would be able to do, or even know they could do. And Three stores have been saying some phones are able to work that can't (and never will, unless they do this inTouch update) as well as saying 4G 800 is a high priority, when the reality is that it's the lowest and you'll only ever use it when 3G isn't available.

Looked into Sprints Community Forum to see if they will support this device and it looks like they will not. I am getting this phone and it looks like I'll be leaving Spint.
Here is the thread to the forum. https://community.sprint.com/baw/message/1052157#1052157 Wanted to share in case anyone else is getting it in hopes that Sprint would support it.
Sprint generally tries to avoid factory unlocked phones so their bloatware stays in place.
Yep, Sprint has strict control over what is allowed access to their network. While the A7 has all the bands for Sprint usage, ZTE has said that they're working with Sprint (and Verizon) to get it approved for their networks.
I wouldn't bother too much with what Sprint_Jeffrey & co. said, they are probably in a similar position to the people within ZTE who claimed just days before the boot-loader unlock announcement that they would not be allowing unlocking of the boot-loader. Until an announcement is made by the Sprint people responsible for such things reps like Sprint_Jeffrey & co. are as much in the dark as the rest of us.
What I've heard about this phone and other unlocked phones with Verizon and Sprint support built into the hardware is.
From official channels you will get no support for the device and you can't go to the store and activate the phone.
But most of the time if you take an existing sim from your current phone and pop it in the new unlocked phone it will work just fine. It's worth a shot before leaving sprint if you like the existing service you have.
Unless you were already planning to leave for the greener pasture of GSM service, so many more device options available which is why i only consider GSM carriers myself.
Don' t know about Sprint but swapping in an active SIM from Verizon does NOT work. Been trying for three weeks. I am going to AT&T.

So you are disagreeing with the, probably, 50 posts I've seen with Verizon working on the Axon 7? I'm getting mine delivered today and will be trying it out tonight. I'm expecting it to work.
Eh, you won't miss Sprint. You could probably go with a cheaper service like Cricket and have better coverage, anyway. Verizon is the only CDMA carrier worth using, but you pay out the bum for the pleasure.

I tried again with Verizon and it is a no go. I hope those of you who are stuck with Verizon can get things worked out. I suppose Verizon will start to play nice in due time. I, however, have moved on to AT&T pre-paid. Took about 10 minutes for them to get my Axon 7 working properly. There were other ZTE devices in the store also. At least one other cell phone and a couple of other items. So they are already familiar with ZTE and had no trouble getting things setup correctly. Bye-Bye Verizon!

Did you make sure to use the SIM1 slot instead of the SIM2/microSD slot? Only SIM1 is CDMA enabled.
I don't know why Sprint and Verizon are dicking around. Moto G4 and Google Nexus phones can run on their networks why not ZTE Avon?

I have RingPlus with a "free" ($15 initial top-up) 1400 plan. And it's great that you have 5 nice plans, but let's be honest, R+ isn't the same as it was last year. Plans like that don't come up much (if ever) anymore and when they do, the hoops make it a real PITA. I'll be surprised if R+ is even around in another year.
And in any case, it's still Sprint and Sprint's network is literally the worst you can use. It's great if you never travel and don't need service outside of cities, but "free" is the only case in which I would use their network. I use R+ with my Moto E as a streaming music player when I'm on the beach or out mowing or doing something else where the phone might get trashed.

Er, constant roaming is normal... it's one of the many bugs that the A7 has on Verizon right now. Just had to check "data when roaming" and you would have been good to go.

Sprint locks their RUIM/SIM cards to the MEID of the device. Verizon does not engage in this 'anti-consumer' practice.
So can I just put a Sprint Note 4 sim in the Axon 7 and it will work?
I switched from sprint to cricket when I bought the axon 7. Got a good deal for signing up for auto pay and the signal has been wayyy better (in Pittsburgh). I drive all around town for work and only ran into one (almost) dead spot.

No this almost surely won't work. Though it's hard to be 100% sure as Sprint is so finicky with their different SIM card types...my Sprint phone is an iPhone 6S so perhaps the SIM isn't as friendly to Android phones (which is ridiculous but Sprint really does differentiate Android vs. iOS SIMs, which I found out the hard way)...
But I tried anyway with my FreedomPop Sprint SIM...below are some pictures of what happened. The Axon 7 showed a signal and a 4G/LTE icon, but the internet connection didn't work (it just shows a constant upload indication) and there was no 1X signal either when I checked LTE Discovery. So it seems that Sprint is effectively blocking the Axon 7 (as it would any non-Sprint MEID'd phone I believe) from making a data connection or making calls/texts.
It's a shame...Verizon doesn't do this...my Verizon SIM works great in the Axon 7...this is purely a Sprint limitation it seems, which is funny as they're the most desperate of the four major carriers and yet make it nearly impossible to do business with them even though we have a perfectly viable Sprint phone in the Axon 7.
Sprint binds the imei, icc id and phone number to the account. Everything has to match or you get no service.
Sprint is dead, move to a different carrier.

Yes, and Secure Wi-Fi has now been added. I think it previously existed only on the European firmwares. Now we get it, too.
Any way to see if AT&T Wifi Calling will work as I do not see the option in Settings? I have US Unlocked GS9 on AT&T
If I flash this U1 for my ATT phone (running full Tmobile firmware now),
will I have Wifi calling with Tmobile? Or Wifi calling only works with Verizon with U1

Despite what the websites like to post, there really isn't a VZW U1 and an ATT U1. There's just XAA U1. You'll get Wi-Fi Calling on every carrier with it now, except for ATT.

Reading up on it (short summary) this is because AT&T uses a database of IMEI numbers to provision WiFi calling and VoLTE. Since our IMEI numbers from our phones are not in that database we won't be able to use WiFi calling or VoLTE.
Makes sense but is ridiculous for AT&T to restrict it. Has anyone ever called to ask to have thier Unlocked IMEI added to this "list" so that these features will work? Seems like it is a disadvantage for AT&T if it works for TMo and now Verizon but not AT&T...?
Just curious...

It's odd for sure. Verizon has always had VoLTE on unlocked too. At least since the S7. Probably before that. ATT has never felt the need to change the policy.

Who can say if it's disadvantageous or not, for all we know it might be the technology differences between the networks. Also it does make sense... having specific IMEI numbers known to connect to carrier specific services like wifi calling and VoLTE ensures that everything works. It doesn't make it convenient for us and I will admit it would be nice to have the features.. but for calling via wifi there are options.
Personally I use pbx in a flash and bria softphone. With the right VoIP provider it's a good setup and doesn't break the bank at all. I haven't even spent more then 5 bucks maybe in a month. For me this is better then wifi calling and I don't have any problems.
As for adding our IMEI to that database I tried inquiring about it, but I do recall reading where some people may have had luck in doing this. I suspect it may require a bit of luck and/or perserveriance after my last discussion with AT&T customer service.
I explained the situation and what needed to be done while being placed on hold a few times. As the call continued I tried to be patient with the person I spoke too, but I admit it is not easy when he is saying that just because I see H data speed that it's actually VoLTE. When I mentioned the speed test and how it was H data speed (and that H data speeds are not VoLTE) he was saying that H data speeds were like blazing fast compared to LTE..
I had to politely finish the call before I either started to laugh or feel sorry for that rep.

The only thing I've seen some people do successfully to get VoLTE working on an unbranded unlocked device is to have AT&T provision a SIM card to an IMEI of a phone that is AT&T branded and capable of VoLTE. Then use that SIM card on the unbranded unlocked device.

I recently purchased this phone unlocked through best buy. How/where can I download Verizon firmware to utilize wifi calling? Google, Verizon and Motorola have ran me on circles trying to solve this.
Bestbuy sells both the unlocked version and the Verizon version. Obviously the Verizon version would work with wifi calling, but what about the unlocked version?

I have the unlocked version and it doesn't come with Wi-Fi calling. It runs only the android 10 software and Google apps for the messages and phone. I found a setting for wifi messages (though I've been having trouble sending and receiving) but no setting in the phone app or the device settings.
I'm hoping if I can find the Verizon firmware to download and enable wifi calling.

Check under the advanced settings in the mobile network settings. If it's not there, then Verizon might be blocking it. Cricket does the same thing, but they'll sometimes enable it for you if you ask nicely.

I have checked under those settings and there is nothing listed as Wi-Fi calling. On VPN and Private DNA.
Would you be able to give a screen shot or write out what you click on to see where out phones differ? Baffling why my phone doesn't not have that option and Verizon has been no help in figuring it out.

Looked in advanced setting under mobile connections no wifi calling choices. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I do not have this phone but i used unlocked phones (3 different ones) on Verizon. Currently a razer 2 on Verizon. If you do not buy a carrier locked phone from them you can not have wifi calling. That is one perk of buying the phone from them. They will let you have volte but thats about it. , No visual voicemail either.
I understand this might be a dumb question, but why is WiFi calling so important? I would have thought most people would use Hangouts, Zoom, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or Duo. Any of those effectively provide WiFi calling.

WiFi calling is very handy if you use your phone in places where you might not have reliable cell coverage but do have WiFi (e.g., a basement, etc.). I've never tried it, but that might include an international location where you can't use cell but have access to WiFi.
My carrier is Sprint, and I can verify that the WiFi calling function is present under Settings, Network & Internet, Mobile Network, Advanced, and nestled under "Calling"

Do you think I need to factory reset my phone and then insert the new visible sim card? I currently I'm using at&t. Or doesn't matter. Did you place the visible sim on a brand new phone or switch from a previous carrier?

It was in a brand new phone yes, but no I don't think it matters. Should be good to go. If anything just restart the phone.
It's also my understanding that Verizon does not allow any Advanced Calling features on a carrier unlocked phone. With my last phone, however (Z4), I was able to flash the VZW image to enable those features on my unlocked phone: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ng-and-root-with-xt1980-3-on-verizon.3994025/
I just tried a similar process with the Moto G Power. I have a XT2041-4, which I have bootloader unlocked. I then downloaded the VZW rom from lolinet: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/sofia/official/VZW/
and patched the boot.img using Magisk. I then followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/moto-g-power-flashing-guide.4159301/
to flash the VZW image (XT2041-7) onto my XT2041-4 (including the patched boot.img). Fingers crossed.... And bootloop. So I recovered to RETUS via LMSA. But I haven't given up hope yet. Maybe someone else can chime in.
Got it working...
HD and WiFi Voice and Video Calling on XT2041-4 with Verizon
Prerequisites: You must bootloader unlock your XT2041-4. https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a As far as I'm aware, this only applies to XT2041-4 on Verizon Wireless. To be clear, the XT2041-4...

Hello
Just received a email from AT&T, claiming that none of my Sony phones will be compatible with AT&T wireless network on 2022. This is what their page says
"To bring you faster speeds and new features, we have to evolve America’s best and also fastest network. One change we’re making is phasing out our 3G network by February 2022. Once we do, 3G devices and 4G wireless devices that don’t support HD Voice will no longer work on our network."
Their compatibility list (https://www.att.com/ecms/dam/att/consumer/help/pdf/Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network.pdf) does not include any Sony phones at all.
Does anyone know if this is actually true? One the one hand, I can see that my phones are not on their compatibility list. On the other hand, AT&T appears to be completely unaware of Sony's existence.

What model is your Xperia 1 (should be J8xxx or J9xxx)?
Do you get VoLTE with AT&T right now?
I"m on AT&T, and I don't have VOLTE from them here in Texas. Our X1 is not supported according to list provided by AT&T, however no Sony phones are. I haven't received the email...at least not yet for mine. Of course our phones are able to use VOLTE services but AT&T doesn't provision for them. There are some discussions about this going on on Reddit too, some people are reaching out to file complaints to the FCC.

The phone will probably still be able to use data, but no calls will be possible since the phone doesn't support VoLTE on AT&T.

The Phone supports it just fine. AT&T won't allow their servers to support the phone. They say its because they can't certify that it's safe to use for VoLTE and that means 911 calls could fail but it's really because they are pushing people to get AT&T branded phones and stay on a phone payment plan.
