I recently upgraded to an S9+ from an S5. The S5 I could do anything to as I had unlocked the bootloader and had root of course. One of the cool things that was easy to change was the Startup Animations to basically whatever an individual wanted. Is that even an option with the S9+? Also, I am missing the advanced power menu options that include screenshots, restart, restart to recovery, and so on. Are there any mods out there for this? Thanks.
Your question is very good, coinciding with so many people are having the same question, I am waiting for the best answer from other friends
Hey.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noxx.apm&hl=de <-- This is almost same looking and working Power menu what i have found... ROOT neeeded.
Unfortunately for myself and many others, as of now, root is not possible as I have a US unlocked version 965U1. I hope to have root at some point but definitely not going to hold my breath. So any solution to an advanced power menu would have to be a non-root option.

hi as im not a dev and havent got a clue how this works, i thought i would ask in here.
it would be very much apreciatet to get the reboot option and reboot to recovery in the shutdown menu back like in some of the p-roms added to 2.3 roms
and would it be possible for someone to make the notification bare menu like i had on my desire which allowed for toggling wifi and other things just by pulling the bar down and pressing a button. like this:
androidfreeware.net/img2/ notification_toggle_android_3.gif
best regards and thx to all the devs for making great roms and tweaks

Yeah, unfortunately none of those are available in the current 2.3.4 roms and these features aren't that easy to implement.
CM7 is on the way though and it has these and many other features built in, so follow the progress of that
The currently available alternatives that you can use on 2.3.4:
Reboot / Recovery / Bootloader options - Quick Boot app from the market (doesn't add those options to shutdown menu, but you can do those reboots from within the app)
Notification power controls - Quick Settings (puts a shortcut to itself in notification), Widgesoid (adds power control to notification, but it's not directly clickable), Power Controls Plus (same as previous), QuickDesk (custom dashboard, probably the best option).
Good luck.
i will do that then but it is some of the most usefull and nice features to have i believe.....
First off I would just like to say I purchased the Note last week outright, never have I has so few regrets after spending $600 on a phone or any electronics. After coming from Xperia devices for the last 5 years the Note is a refreshing change.
Anyways to the point, when the power button is held on an Xperia device there are additional options such as "reboot and take screen shot", Does anyone know how to add these to the power button options, the reboot option on the Xperia play was added via a CMW flashable zip file. Is there anything simaler to this with the note? I miss both of these options so very much.
Cheers
The "quick boot" app in market works fine and will get you in recovery .....also tapping home plus power takes a screenshot.

Yeah Rom Toolbox also contains a "rebooter" option which will alow restart as well as boot into recovery, was just hoping someone around here had a solution aside from having to open an app or widget option. Perhaps a zip file to flash. Anyways, not a big deal. Hopefully someone with some more development experiance then I will do it eventually. Might check the other galaxy forums.
Thanks though.
If you flash ics, it comes with the reboot option. If you want certain ones, check out roms, usually devs bake it into their ROMs.

My sister has a Sprint GS4 and the menu button is broke (home also, but she has a soft home app, could not find a decent menu button, oddy enough).
I know that if the phone has no physical menu button, the app always puts one somewhere on the app. My question, is there a build.prop or similar to trick all apps into thinking the phone has no physical menu button so it will show in the app? Thanks, i hope someone can help. (Phone not rooted, but i can root it)

Button Savior-Non Root should work. It would be better to root it though as you have a lot more and better options, such as Pie controls with the LMT Launcher.
I actually did try that, but it was a very ugly interface. There's gotta be some system-wide setting that lets all apps know whether you have a hardware menu button or not, right?

Exactly, I can root it (I have CM11 on my own S4 so I have rooted before). I just wanted someone to tell me exactly what to change and I'll root it and do the modification.
I just don't want to root it if I can't find out how to accomplish the menu button.

So ive been search around for a while now on how to fix this. And to anyone that chimes in and says why do you need the menu button obviously you don't use older apps, the new touch button on the screen is a huge annoyance especially since i've used my phones this way since my first S1. Regardless this is how i want it and so do many other people.
Currently this is only for a rooted phone
I have figured out how to remap the left soft key from the App Switcher/Multi window over to the old style menu key. Instructions for that can be found here
But now i don't have any way of switching to my currently open apps, after remapping the left key, the longpress now takes you to search. and long pressing on the home button also takes you to another variation of the search (both i dont use nor want). I want to be able to remap my left softkey on longpress to open up currently open apps (APP_SWITCH) and it would be nice if long pressing on Home could open the Task Manager as it did on my S3.
As far as i can tell editing of the longpress function is done via a Policy edit. Read about that HERE
Keep in mind that post is from 2014 so i have no idea if the internal code is still being handled the same way, i couldn't even find that file on my S6, but i did find a file called SEPOLICY in my root folder using ROOT EXPLORER. Do any of you know more about this and how I can go about changing this? im sure its a code level adjustment. Thanks
Long-press home button can be controlled without root easily.
Check out this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spada.nowgesturetweaksfree
I use the long-press home to get to my last used app.
I wonder if I can remap my buttons to launch any other apps.. Will have to tinker around a bit.

very useful. menu for navigation is long long outdate. software nave or 3 dots is the customary way to go. adding a secondary menu button is redudant and unnecessary. my little ewww comment brought a lot to the table. you tryingt to call me out on it is less useful.

lol f off
If you guys use Dropbox, how do you get to the menu with SORT, etc.. without a menu key. This is making me crazy. I'm using nova launcher and there is no floating menu key. ????
The problem is if not every developer uses it, it's inconsistent.
It often helps if the options etc. In apps are on the top, so you don't have to fidget with your phone to reach the top or use two hands.
The menu button on every app is positioned somewhere else, so I find the op wanting it justified.
All in one gestures let's you remap every key, for some odd reason on my s4 I can remap the menu key, but on the S6 for some odd reason the option of the menu key has vanished in the same app:what:
Sent from my SM-G925F using XDA Free mobile app
Hi pal. Hope it helps. Make 254 button remap, then install nova launcher, in tab gestures select long press menu and then recent app. Profit! Now once tapped you have menu button, long pressed - recent apps.
So, i made it, i use it. It works.

Hi guys, I just got a le max pro (x910) but there is no forum for it. Still, I believe it is running the same OS and EUI as Le max 2 (6.0.1 and EUI 5.6.x)
To my question: I hate lock screens so I disable them. If the fingerprint reader were better I'd seriously consider using it to unlock the phone, but it isn't.
My problem now is the "second" lock screen on this phone. Not sure if this is an andorid thing or an EUI thing, since I haven't used android 6.0+ before.
Essentially, I need my home screen to appears when I click the power button. Is that possible? Currently, the "lock screen" that appears after hitting power is a screen with time and camera icon. I don't need this. Can it be disabled SOMEHOW?
Thanks
Hello!
You can do exactly what you want with Lockscreen Disabler in Xposed. It will disable the lockscreen and when you press the power button, the home screen is shown.
As you may know already, you must have a custom recovery, be rooted and have Xposed installed. Then download the module and enjoy

Is this new in Android 6 or an issue with EUI? On my Sony Z ultra with android 5.1.1 disabling the lock screen is right there in the options.
I'm not sure whatever the problem might be. If you said that you need somehow to disable the lockscreen because you can't, I took it for good and I found a solution for you
I've tried to remove it without Xposed and looks like in Settings you don't have this option. Keep in mind that different OEM's do have various options of customization that might not be common.
Hello everyone, I´m new to this, but I just got an LE S3 last week at a really good price! (take into consideration that I live in Mexico) and found the same problem mentioned here, after lots of researching the web and tinkering with setting, antivirus and lock screen apps on play store and factory resetting phone, I got rid of the ``second lock screen´´ wich is very annoying to me, and not to mention all the ads that popped up every time I unlocked the phone, only for it to come back as soon as I connected my phone to charge it! Very Frustating!
And then I noticed, since I had changed the home and lock screen wallpapers to pictures of my family, I noticed three little white dots on the upper left corner of the screen, almost imperceptible, just like the ones on the web browser to deploy a menu!! I hitted it and a warning came up `` do you want to disable Locker?´´ I hitted Disable and that did it! Now I´m able to just go to my home screen with the Finger Print unlock or Pattern unlock.
It was hard to notice the three little dots since I had not changed my wallpapers, I was using the factory galaxy/nebula look alike wallpapers, which are very cool but have scattered white dots all over and tricked my perception of the Locker Icon.
Hopefully this can help some of you to turn off that annoying extra screen.
Cheers!!
