So, previously I bought this phone, saw it was superior quality. I downloaded one of my social apps called Tango, which worked perfectly. But, couldn't launch Tango after the 3rd try, I cleared my cache of the application, I don't know what else to do!
The hardware of the phone is amazing but the software it comes with is jenky. This is a phone that must be rooted and custom romed in the first week my guy. To unlock it's real potential.

Hi,
So I just recently got the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I am familiar with Android and I know what I'm doing (or so I think lol) but some things just aren't working and I don't know if it's me or software limitation. Regardless I'm hoping someone can shedd some light on these...
1. The market is lacking a LOT of applications that are available on phones. Is that right? I thought it would just scale for the most part....I can't even find the official Facebook app on the market. Am I looking in the wrong place or something? Hulu? Netflix??
1a. Some applications that I sideload (mainly widgets) like typoclock or something of that sort....install, but when I go to add the widget it is not there, as if never installed. Even when I try to reinstall it, it says that it will replace the old one so i know for a fact that it installs, but the widgets aren't available, and they arent listed in the installed apps drawer either.
2. It seems kind of sluggish...and I really haven't installed much, even from a cold boot...it's kinda laggy, not as quick as I have seen on some review videos. Quadrant scores around 1400-1500. I Rooted it, installed the latest SunBurst ROM and overclocked to 1.4Ghz and it's still laggy often despite nearing 3000 on quadrant now.
3. So I couldn't get any Netflix apk to work on it stock, so once I rooted, installed Sunburst ROM it came installed with a Netflix app, but I don't think it's official since the icon is orange and has a little android on it. Needless to say THAT app doesn't work and CAN'T be installed (I figure it's cooked onto the ROM) regardless I found a Netflix apk that install and replaces it, and works...but after one day it reverts back to the old netflix and doesn't work. So pretty much everytime I want to use Netflix I have to reinstall and overwrite with the new Netflix apk I found...it's annoying. (and the search function doesn't work on that Netflix either)
I know it's a lot to rant about and a lot of issues, and I love the tab and honeycomb, but I can't believe these issues still persist. I hope someone can help me with one/all of these and I will be forever grateful.
Thanks, hope someone can help...
1a. Try a restart after you install a widget. It seems that if the widget is not made for HC, it doesn't appear before you restart.
i tried rebooting but that didn't help any unfortunately...
There's a netflix 1.3 APK somewhere that sideloads perfectly. I haven't tried it with Touchwiz yet - I haven't even touched Touchwiz.
Try stock ROM first. Your ROM might have broken something. I know Bonsai completely broke USB storage support as an example, and Starburst claims to be the "most complete and fastest Touchwiz experience" which means it's going to have missing and broken things. Any ROM dev making claims like that is compensating for something. The "hacked-icon" Netflix app is an obvious sign they went a LITTLE too far.
Netflix sideload works perfectly on my Tab. Unrooted. TouchWiz. Stock.
i tried netflix fix on starburst rom, it did work but reverted back to fcs after a reboot. i switched to bonsai 3, netflix seems to be working fine even after a reboot.
2. It seems kind of sluggish...
The default launcher is a bit sluggish, it is a honeycomb issue. For me I have seen after a "reboot", the tab does take a couple of minutes to "settle", then it is smooth for me, but if you have lot of widgets on your homescreens it will be sluggish, my experience in any case.
thanks to all you guys for all the replies.
As far as the Netflix, I know I do have the correct apk I think the issue is that it isn't playing nice with the one that is baked into the rom. I guess I will have to install another rom.
However I haven't heard anything on the apps, is that right? There's no Facebook? Anyoneelse having issues with Widgets not appearing?
For Facebook search for an app in the market called 'Friend Me'
Looks great and works great =)
for getting rid of sluggishness try this launcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188701

Thanks! Good call, app looks great!
@js931,I'll give that launcher a try and see how it goes.
I understand and feel for you on your problems. My 3rd (and final) Galaxy Tab is on the way to me from Amazon.com. I also have an Asus Transformer on the way as well and the device that gives me the least amount of problems is the device I plan to keep. I want to like the Tab but I don't have high hopes since I'm about to be on my 3rd device. The 2nd one worked perfectly after Touchwiz for a while - even fixed issues I was having such as the typing lag - but the issues I had with the first one (screen and/or Wifi doesn't respond after bringing the device out of sleep) resurfaced a few days ago. The 2nd Tab also had something loose on the inside as it produces a loud rattling noise whenever it vibrates. While that is easily cured by turning off the vibration, I paid $600 for this device and I expect it to be near-perfect. So any little issue I have with this 3rd Tab means it's going back for a refund and I'll keep the Transformer... assuming it behaves like it should, lol.
At any rate, good luck with your issues. The Tab is a beautiful device but seems to be problematic... at least that's my experience with it.
As the title says, I have a Rogers Droid Razr unlocked running on Telus. Today it said there was an update so i downloaded and ran it. Now Handcent SMS will not load. Neither will the stock text messaging app. I downloaded app 2 sd to allow me to clear cache as that was suggested and it made no difference.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Try a full wipe and see if that does anything
That did work, but what a pain, reinstall everything It's just not working as crisply as it did before the update. Not impressed.
I had a similar issue where none of the first party apps like email, music, and gallery worked. Also the phone was super laggy for about 45 minutes after the update. Nothing I did would fix the issue. Had to completely wipe the phone and now its running flawlessly. Extremely annoying though.
Yes, that seems exactly like what was happening. Frustrating, I just got this phone a couple weeks ago and had everything transferred over, including text messages and pics, now its all gone. Oh well, it's working.
Hello.
I've had my Motorola [Electrify] for about a year now, and a few months after getting it, started having problems with the camera, playing music, and not receiving notification sounds. For the camera, I it would look as though it was starting, and then go back to the home screen with a flash saying "Camera cannot initialize." (or something to that effect.) When I would try to play music, it would stop and say "Sorry, the play does not support this type of audio format." It was MP3. And I would sometimes not receive notification sounds. I have been researching and battling this issue for months when suddenly yesterday, I read that for people whose camera wouldnt work, they went into the main settings and clear data for the camera, and the gallery. It worked. Camera worked and so did playing mp3s. Well, today it started not working again. This time I only cleared data for the gallery, and again everything worked like it should. I did root the phone several months ago, using Photon Torpedo. First, I wonder if using that method, if I may have messed something up. Anyone hear of this sort of thing? But then again, I am sure I had problems with this before I rooted. Second, I wonder if anyone knows a specific correlation between malfunctions and the gallery app. Third, would freezing the gallery app with Titanium Backup cripple functionality of the phone/media, and would it work to keep these malfunctions from happening?
Sorry for being long winded, but hoping I'm on to something here.
Thank you.
I posted that a few days ago, but in a different forum, (wrong phone forum) but now today I find out that clearing data in gallery was only a temporary fix, as today it did not work. This is the second or third time I thought I found a connection, but was wrong. Does anyone else have this problem and come up with an actual fix? For the life of me, I cannot figure out what the root cause of this problem is. Thank you.
I haven't heard of it. Have you tried a factory reset?
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda premium
Wifes photon doing exactly same thing. what apps you have installed. maybe we can narrow it down. I did a factory reset, flashed a different rom, then installed all her apps back on. worked correctly for 3 days then no notification sounds, camera wont open and can t veiw videos on facebook or youtube. reboot the phone and all is well for a few days then the problem comes back.
noob here, I did my first root today, and have only been an android user for 2 weeks after defecting from apple since the first iphone. I was a jailbreak veteran of idevices, but I got bored with the stale bread, so I spent my taxmas on a Samsung galaxy s4. Specifically wanting the i9500 version so it would be unlocked to use on net10. I followed the steps from website, and video on Odin. And it looked like it worked perfectly. It wasn't until I tried to my photo gallery app to look at some pictures, and it crashed and wouldn't load. I had the same issue with a business calendar issue app that wouldn't open. I tried clearing system cache on gallery app but no luck. I'm afraid I'm in over my own head now, and might want to restore and start from scratch. The first thing I did after rooting was a full Titanium backup. only things that I installed after root was xposed installer and an app within the installer called swipeback.
I would like to know if there is a fix for this, without having to break away from root? Or if I must, how do I know which stock file I need. I know it's i9500ubueMk1 but there's many different regions.. I bought from a best buy in Charlotte . If there isn't a simple fix to fix why my apps aren't working, then the root does more harm than good, and I wanna go back to normal.
Someone please walk me through this!!
thanks
Hullo, chaps
Well, My case is the following:
My Phone screen died because I let it fall too many times, and the last one lits pf people ran over it at a party XD. It was an LG L5 II.
I decided to get a new one, but I wanted the same model and brand beacuse I was really satisfied with it. So I went to buy a new one. I bought and updated its software (At that time I had no idea the update made video fail).
My phone came with YouTube 4.5.17, which works perfectly but I wanted to have the new features, so, a few days later I bought and updated it, I upgraded YouTube app from Play-store (to 5.17.6) and it stopped working, videos kind of charged but never playbacked. I tried everything. Signing in and out, clearing cache, deleting data, rebooting, cleaning ram, cleaning junk, deleting dalvik-cache, delete all app cache, virus checking, even Youtube troubleshouting, checked if played in 3g and so on. Nothing worked.
Then I had the brilliant idea that if I installed an older version of YouTube it may work, so I took my older phone (same brand and model but the screen is not working) and copied the YouTube app (5.7.38), that was working in that phone and has the feature I like (the one you can search while watching videos) but it didn't work, the same problem with playback. I tried everything again, but again nothing worked.
So, thinking it was a hardware problem, I went to the shop and changed my phone for another one. I tested youtube and it worked. I updated youtube app and it worked. So I came back home happy. Here I updated my software... then youtube didn't stop working. And finally I applied two fxcking patches. And after that... the same problem.
Just now I realised that the problem was not the YouTube app nor the hardware, but the patches LG provided through its software update app.
What can I do. How can I roll back those specific patches?
I felt so stupid, but I had no way how to prove it was the patches.
I was tons of hours today at the shop trying to change my device and I won't go again.
Screenshots attached to show the problem.
Thanks in advance.
