hi folks, I have a Mate 20x bought off ebay (should be Chinese version)
I am in US
I have a big issue, which is the notification from my home security apps (ring/arlo)
1. the notification setting for these two apps is often changed anonymously by the system, thus I often miss notifications
2. there is no pushed notification shown at locked screen, although there is sound alert. I need to drag down to see what notification has come up
3. when phone is switched off at night and switched back on in the mornign, no notification from ring/arlo for last night would show up. I will need to open the apps and check history.
This has been a concerning issue for me as today I missed the postman who has an important package. Did anyone has a solution?
also a minor issue, google map would not speak street name, and google assistant could not be summoned at lock screen. But compared with the notification issue, these are more minor.
I have the same issue with the ring app. I talk to support and the say the app its not fully compatible with android 9.0. I have and via twitter the say the 360 security system is blocking something. But I can't disable the app.
Huawei says that they cant help because each model in this Chinese one it's made for other kind of service. The I don't find any logical explanation in that. I have because that means no one in China can have a functional ring service.
I think this it's an ring app issue but they don't care about this issue.
Did you remove Ring from battery optimization? I have ring, and most of the time it works. Its just i cannot assign a ringtone provided by ring, it has to be stock huawei ones..

I have added Whatsapp and Hike to the protected app list, but still when the app is closed it stops getting push notifications.
Is this really an bug? If yes, Do we have a workaround for this?
IN Honor 7, it was working fine.. But 5X is having some problem it seems.

Bump, I'm having this issue with Gmail and Google Voice despite allowing them in the Protected Apps menu and enabling all notification settings.

The problem seems to be with the device correctly registering with Google's push notification servers. I tested the device and it failed a simple push notification test sequence, which my Moto E passes every time.
This is very disappointing, because both my wife and I purchased the 5X and it isn't working properly for either of us.
I think I'm going to flash CyanogenMod and see if it's better.
Update: replaced stock ROM with CM13, so far so good!
Hi everybody,
I also am having problems not getting push notifications on my Honor 5X from my Arlo (home security camera) app. When the camera senses motion, it sends a notification and records a video. My phone does not receive a push notification, however, when I open the Arlo app I am able to see the video that was recorded.
The funny thing is, I can get immediate push notifications from my Arlo camera on my Motorola Moto X (1st generation) phone.
I have given my Arlo app every notification permission that there is.
I have spent weeks exchanging emails with Arlo tech support, and they have had me try every possible solution in the book, but nothing has worked. It's very discouraging.
UPDATE: I just installed an app called Push Notifications Fixer, and when I walked in front of my Arlo camera, I got an immediate notification! Amazing!
Does Push Notifications Fixer works for anyone in EMUI ?
Guys!
I found a quick solution for anyone who is missing notifications when the app is closed by taskmanager or force close.
It's something I just tested multiple times and this solution seems to be the only working one.
I missed a lot of notifications for WhatsApp and Facebook since i closed them on the task manager screen.
The app and the service are being closed both when you do that.
However i found out that when making in a widget keeps the push service keeps working, even after closing the app manually.
I use nova launcher so i created widgets and resized them to the smallest possible.
You can now close these apps without any problems and keeping your notifications alive.
Let me know if it also works for you guys.
Should work with any app that can create widgets as well.

Had the same issue (not getting notifications from the Arlo app), tried the Push Notification Fixer app, but that didn't solve the problem. Found this page explaining the issue and how to resolve it and that worked beautifully. All good now. Wanted to share to help out others. Good luck!
I searched XDA, Google and the official site of LeEco. I have found similar problems with push notification(Whatsapp, Email.) But no direct solution for the leEco max 2.
I've tried different roms, chinese and india, because of the EUI layout that i like.
I tried all the settings that are mentioned: Priority notification on, no battery saving, no clearing of tasks, installing Push notification fixer, reinstalled from scratch, and now on stock indian 5.8.19S.
But still no push notification when the phone is in sleep mode. After 30 minutes no use. Only after manualy activation of the phone.:crying:
Has anybody a solution for the EUI Rom? Or is the only option to try CM on the phone?
I appreciate all the help. Big Thanx in advance.:fingers-crossed:
In addition to what you have mentioned, you should put these apps in auto launch mode+app protection from phone manager.
Make sure that you have also enabled auto-sync data from account management.
Whatsapp and messenger notifications are working fine with these settings on indian rom 19s. However, I faced problems with Gmail notifications in other customs roms.
Autolaunch and app protection usually solves it

Settings plus, did it for me.
The Enable background resource control in the hidden menu.........I switched it off............no problem anymore for me with notifications. Whatsapp, Gmail, etc..... @sdevaux Thanx for the useful tip. @lukam01 and @anameeeen for helping out
This looks like a global sync issue that I've been trying to solve for almost a month now. Coming from the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, I've been experiencing the same exact auto sync problems on both the Note Pro, and the Le Max 2. Gmail and Yahoo mail (or any other email client that I've tried) won't sync and give notifications unless I open the apps manually and refresh. I tried pretty much everything I could find on the internet to no success. Whatsapp works most of the time, but every once in a while it start's doing the same.
Power management is off, the apps involved have all the required permissions, they're set to auto launch, global sync is enabled (tried turning it off and on again to no effect), and of course, sync is also enabled in each individual app. Background resource control is off (hidden menu).
I have removed my accounts from both devices countless times, cleared the cache, data, uninstalled/reinstalled the apps, re-added the accounts individually...
I don't know what's going on, but I'm talking about 2 different devices and 2-3 different roms on both (the devices were set up as new every single time, not restored with Ti Backup), so I'm pretty sure it's a global issue.
Same issues here. In addition, some apps just plain don't work if the phone is asleep. I prefer using Google Clock for my alarms, and textra for my text messages. However, if the phone is asleep, the alarm will NEVER sound and I will NOT get text messages. I'm not just talking about not getting notifications for text messages, I'm talking that if someone sends me a text message I will not EVER get it. They only way to fix is to use the STOCK clock and text apps. Crazy.

I'm very curious, did you try the hidden settings and deactivate the background Resource control?

Yes, but this did NOT help fix the Google Clock app. I have read other threads with people having the same issue with some google apps. The theory seems to be that perhaps the way gapps is added by LeEco into their roms breaks something having to do with notification system.
Maybe try an indian base rom, like Revolution 19s. Inadian roms have google apps natively installed

But I believe the Indian Roms also encrypt your phone by default, CN roms don't. Don't want any encryption slowing down my phone.
Stock Indian roms encrypt data, but in revolution version the encrypition is removed by rom developer

I have the same problem, I try all roms, the only rom that works and enable notifications even in sleep mode it is cuoco92 5.8.015S
It's a big problem for Leeco, notification doesn't work correctly
It's a Rom issue. Works perfect for me with Mokee
can you guys confirm that in mokee and cuoco all notifications work well. i tried everything from forums and this thread, whatsapp is fixed, but i simply cant force gmail notifications to come properly. huge disappointment in this phone because of it. so i just want this to work with stable custom rom and that camera works as in stock rom...any recommendations?thanks
anyone,please?
Use lucky patcher and move your Gmail/inbox to system app. Works for me.
I have same issue after a while notifications stop to work, resetting Google play services helps but issue occurs after few hours again. Trying to install different versions to see if it helps. For now also stopped Android Wear...
Using cuoco92 Rom S20v65
Make apps can launch automatically, work for me

Same here. I'm on tiny eui which is hard on 20s and I have done all the power and app settings. Every app works and I get notifications but alarms through alarm clock extreme will not go off when the phone is in deep sleep. I cannot figure it out.
So I've had some annoyances with my new S9+ that I've never seen before. I'm not sure if it's a Samsung issue or an Oreo one.
So I'm getting some warnings in my notifications area. Now I get the idea behind it, but there's no way to approve apps. For instance, I get a warning that Waze was using the microphone. I approved that permission, yet every time I use Waze, I get the warning. I get a warning that Google Music is using a lot of CPU. Lastly, I'm getting a warning that Handcent SMS is accessing, you guessed it, SMS.
Again, I understand the idea behind it. However, two of these are working "as intended". I'm wondering if there's a way to whitelist apps so this notification doesn't appear every time.
If anyone needs to know how to fix this, I found it on Google.
Settings > Lockscreen and Security > App Permission Monitor.
Then you can turn that all the way off, or off for specific apps.
Heya,
friend of mine just got a p20 lite.
Shes got a strange notification bug for at least whattsapp messages.
She has different message tones (more like ringtones, they run 10 to 15 secs..) for different chat partner in whattsapp.
sometimes they play properly from idle/screen off, sometimes they start and abort almost immidiatly - so sometimes shes missing alert of a new message because of that.
we changed notification priority for app and all contacts to high priority, no luck so far :/
anyone out there who got an idea ?
ty,
ras

So, to bump this a bit, and to also tell you that I am EXACTLY in the same boat, same smartphone, same problem, same symptoms, no solution yet.
After having kind of contented with the situation the last months, I simply had to do something about it.
So I spent the day researching, thinking, testing.
I think I finally found the solution, it all comes down to Huawei's "Extreme-Energy-Saving" battery policy,
having my smartphones battery truly lasting for days, but also causing a lot of problems like these in all kinds of apps.
So what I did:
Settings / Apps and notifications / Apps / Whatsapp / Battery / tap on "run" / Turn off "automatic management" /
Turn on "manual management" for all the three given options. (Autolaunch, secondary launch, Run in Background.)
Also check Settings / Battery / Launch. Make sure Whatsapp is also set to "manual management" here for all three options.
(Autolaunch, secondary launch, Run in Background.)
Interesting enough: even though both menus SEEM to do the same, and even have the same options, the phone obviously treats both separately.
I had the options in settings / battery / launch on "manual management",
but had the options in Settings / Apps and notifications / Apps / Whatsapp / Battery still on "automatic management", as I have never stumbled into this menu before.
Since I have all these options on manual management, all audio notifications come through, no clipping, no choking, no cutoffs.
Try it!
And for my own two cents:
Discovering BOTH options in the first place is the real challenge here, as you don't even know what exactly you are searching for!
Imo overly complicated and really confusing procedures Huawei / EMUI is demanding here... (And thus obviously prone to failure, as was clearly shown here.)
Also unsure if it's a bug or a feature...
Hi !
Just got this great device 4 days ago. It had Android 9.0 , used it like that for 1 day and then I have updated to Android 10 (EMUI 10) over the air. After one more day, I did a factory reset. I have logged in with my gmail and huawei account. All went well.. but now I have a problem (maybe feature) that every time a new irrelevant notification appears, the notification sound pops up. For example : I open an incognito page in chrome , the notification is in the notification window and the phone makes the sound. If I complete a background download from an app, the notification sound appears with the notification in the notification window. If I download a file from Google Drive, Chrome, etc. during the download, it goes into a loop notification sound for every % completed. If I transfer something from my phone to my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier, the notification sound can be heard. I know I can turn off the notification sound manually from every app but it wasn't like this until I have factory reset my phone. Can you please tell me how to turn off the notification sound on stuff that is irrelevant ? This was not present on Android 9 and not even when I have updated to Android 10 for a day.
Thank you so much in advance !
When you searched the web for "how to manage notifications on Android 10" what parts did you have trouble with?
Only asking so no one has to repeat what you've already tried.
