Activation VoLTE icon under Oreo and Pie Beta - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hello,
I currently use the Samsung Galaxy S9 + with the Android version 8.0.0 Oreo. Currently I'm using a mobile phone card in the network of German Telekom, so I can make calls in the LTE network via VoLTE. I have learned that it should be possible to activate the VoLTE icon by modifying the file "Customer.xml" as soon as I am logged into the LTE network. This change I have also made, but this icon does not appear with me, what can this be? The Wi-Fi Call icon will be displayed as soon as I'm on a Wi-Fi network and mobile coverage is too low. As a network mode, I have also set "LTE only", so that the device can only log in the LTE network. I would therefore be grateful for helpful information. Do I have to change another file? Have I changed too often the entry from "<EnableVoLTEindicator> false </ EnableVoLTEindicator>" to "<EnableVoLTEindicator> true </ EnableVoLTEindicator>", because in my Customer.xml this entry appears for every net (Telekom.de, Vodafone. de and O2.de) and I changed everything from "false" to "true". In addition, I would be grateful if you could tell me whether in the current Android 9.0.0 Pie Beta this icon can also be activated.
Many many thanks,
greeting

You shouldn't need to modify anything for the VoLTE icon to appear. It should appear by default. It does this for ALL devices and OSes.
If you have the Wi-Fi Calling icon appearing then at least you know that VoLTE is actually enabled and working. But I'm not sure why the icon doesn't appear.
You do realise the icon doesn't show when you are connected to a wireless network, right? It only shows when you are not connected to wifi.

[Q] How to enable 3G on Viewpad 7

I have recently purchased a viewpad 7. I have also enabled 3G services from my operator. Can somebody help me in the following:-
(a) How to start a video call?
(b) What will be the indication for 3G services running on the pad?
(c) Can someone show me a display of the screen with 3G services enabled?
What is your mobile operator (and country, if applicable) since we have users around the globe on this sub-forum?
Based in US, I've used a prepaid 3G Sim from AT&T (also, tested my China Mobile HK/China dual phone # prepaid Sim) and getting E(dge) or 2G+ voice/data services only along with much faster secured wifi (20GB broadband) - but I'm setup to use Google Voice for all voice calls.
Regardless, the upper right portion of the status bar (on top of the display) should show the "H" or "3G" symbol when data is active.
Try by going to Settings, Wireless & network settings and check your Mobile networks - check that Data is enabled (including roaming, if applicable) and that Network Mode is configured properly, also APN is set for MMS per your mobile operator specifications, etc. etc.
I'm doubtfull about its ability to easily take/make video calls over mobile network (possible & probably easier to configure over wifi - with the proper software as bandwidth needed could be part of the issues) - however, I could be mistaken & not fully up-to-date on this.
I am using BSNL network India. In the mobile network settings on enabling data, the download E symbol shows up on the top right with arrow marks. I am able to load/upload data but no video calls. The review says that video calls are possible with the viewpad 7. But how please help.....
view this thread i have just run into the same problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267297
and there is the solution, if you have a different network, pm me ill work out the solution for you
note im with o2 in the uk, as for your other questions, to indicate you have a 3g signal, there will be a 3g icon next to the signal bar, in my case its a H as im connected to a HSDPA signal.

DOes it mean, your VP7 can not connect to internet via mobile/SIM module? I had the same problem with the latest official ROM from VS. I Had to install FM6-3350-0-1008-A01.nb0 which I have to find on this forum. Unfortunately I have lost Czech localization.

H850 EE UK New Firmware 27-07-16

Does anyone have a link for the latest EE firmware?
Devtester shows one released on 27-07-16 but doesn't have any downloads.
If your network is EE UK and you didn't buy your phone direct from EE, flashing this software enables nice things like Wifi Calling, VoLTE and 800Mhz 4G
Also intrested in this. Or any ee rom with wifi calling
Just checked, no update available on my EE H850.
I bought this EU variant of H850 from Taobao.com, an e-commerce web in China and the homepage of Chrome is set to m.ee.co.uk by default. I guess this proves that my H850 is an EE UK version. I just checked Settings->About Phone->Updater Center->Software Update->Check Now for Update and got the reply that "You are using the latest software version for current OS." Is it because I didn't get this phone directly from EE UK?
By the way, this is the first post on my first day using XDA as a registered member.

Thank you for the suggestion. I read this forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/tuto-update-h850-v10c-to-v10d-rooted-t3417348/page1 and found it troublesome to update to 10d with LG UP. I will just wait for flashable zips or CM Roms.
Besides, I'm staying in Kazakhstan for now, where there is no 4G network, yet. And the WiFi at my place is lousy. So none of the WiFi calling, VoLTE or another 4G band feature seems appealing.

Not sure you need an EE version of firmware. I bought mine from 3rd party and I believe it's generic firmware.
Build number MMB29M
Software version V10c234-30
Model LG-H850
Just turned Wifi calling on. 2 minutes later text message arrives and now I have the telephone handset icon with mini wifi logo on it in the top bar. Tried a call and it works.
If you want me to check anything else to confirm version just quote me back so I get notified
Update! I made a call it worked fine, received a call it answered but no audio. Then it turned off

I've done more testing. I had Airplane mode on and reactivated Wifi. That showed the Wifi Calling icon in status bar. I called my work line and it worked fine, then called my phone back and worked fine. Have received and made a few calls this afternoon with just Wifi and it's been great.
To set it up the EE articles state be on wifi, go to Settings - Networks - Call - Wi-Fi Calling - turn it on. I received a text a few minutes later saying I was setup. That's all I've done.
http://ee.co.uk/help/phones-and-device/wifi-calling - States corporate users need 4GEE but no mention of that for pay monthly, that said EE was set up as a 4G mobile provider so all contracts should be 4GEE. Does state not supported on pay as you go.

WiFi Calling / VoLTE on Mi 9

Just wanted to share my experience with WiFi Calling. I am in the US on T-Mobile and WiFi calling has been working for me surprisingly. VoLTE has also been working wonderfully. I've tested this on a Global Mi 9 running Stock and the Xiaomi.eu rom.
Enter these codes into the Dialer to enable the options in Settings. (Settings < SIM Cards & mobile networks < Sim Card Settings < VoLTE Enabled/Make Calls using WLAN)
VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
VoWIFI *#*#869434#*#*
Things should work after you enable the two options. This depends on whether or not your carrier supports it and your e911 address set (US only?).
Some issues you might run into is that the option for Network Preference is greyed out and you will unable to change that option. I've had some success if you disable it and re-enable it and click on that option really fast, it will go through. When you first enable VoWiFi, it is important that you get into this menu and change it to WiFi preferred or WiFi Calling won't work.
UPDATE:
Manually creating your carrier APN worked great for me. Been testing it for about 2 weeks and I haven't had any issues with VoLTE/VoWiFi. For example, for me on T-Mobile, I created a new one with the following settings. The important part I'm guessing is the APN type. Also make sure that your carrier has enabled WiFi Calling on their end as well.
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMC : 310
MNC: 260
APN type: default,supl,mms,ims,cbs
APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6
On a side note, since you're on T-Mobile US, are you getting LTE+? I was showing LTE+ on my Mix 2S and Mi 8, but doesn't show up on my Mi 9.
Can verify, works with Chinese Mi 9 8GB 128GB version. I'm also on T-Mobile. Now there is "HD" written on the signal icon.

It just randomly loses WiFi Calling. To solve this, I've been keeping my phone airplane mode with WiFi on and haven't experienced any type of disruption of service. Calls sounds great.

It's a carrier specific option. So go to phone-> settings-> Sim cards &.....-> Orange and should be the last two options.
Hmm...I've activated both too but only get the volte option, no wifi calling toggle switch. Tmobile USA running no root, stock miui 10.2.3. Did anyone on tmobile USA get wifi calling to work? Also, if you did, does it also activate wifi texting?
Update: guessing the volte doesn't require a restart but wifi calling requires a restart. To those who run into the same prob as me.
Ídem here, no volte options, my carrier support it and works on a s7 edge, any ideas?

unlike you, since the last update 10.2.24.0 I lost the option volte/vowifi, when I try to reactivate it, the phone tell me it's enabled for the SIM 2 but I have no sim two,
if i swap the sim card it tell me activated for the sim 1 ...

Did a quick test on mine (T-Mobile/Germany) and it's working. I just used the dial-codes and enabled wifi calling. Had to change the preferred connection type to wifi-prio though - wasn''t working with cellular-prio and flight mode before.

Can't get VoWifi to work

Hi, I am getting desperate now trying to get VoWifi/wifi calling to work on my mate 20 pro.
My wife has the same phone, and same Carrier (even same plan)
The carrier is called Talkmore which is an daughter company of Telenor. I'm living in Norway btw.
The thing is that on my wifes phone, the carrier says Telenor ViWifi in the top corner, but on mine it says Talkmore HD.
We did have different apn's also, but I changed it on mine to the same as my wifes phone, but still it's then same.
And yes, I have turned on Wifi calling in the settings
I have talked to Talkmore, and everything is okey on their part, and you know there is not much tech help to get from carrier employees.
Does anyone have any tips that I can try. It would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

There is a difference on mine and hers. The first photo is mine, the second one hers.
Some carrier are calling Volte and/or Vowifi HD. Maybe yours is one of them.
Disable Vowifi, Choose airplane mode, then enable wifi, then enable vowifi.
Does HD icon shows while still on airplane mode with wifi and vowifi on ? -If so, your carrier use the HD icon for vowifi.
Your carrier is actually using HD icon for Volte.

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. Been busy the last days.
I tried your suggestion which did not work. I also messed around a bit, including deleting the string like I said, but no luck with that either

Cannot enable VoLTE

Hello
I'm having this issue, I cannot enable volte. Vowifi is enabled and working fine. I have tried pretty much everything, the dial numbers etc.
I'm running stock miui global 12.2.7.
I'm posting a couple of screenshots, one is from the dial *#*#4636#*#* phone information and the other from network settings where volte toggle is nowhere to be found.
If you get 4G you have VOLTE. If you get 4G+ you have VOLTE-E. If your connection drops back to 3G in calls its because of either calling another network or the other phone is in a 3G area.

Hello and thanks for the reply.
The area I live in has mostly 5G coverage and when not available, 4G+ and 4G.
All I'm saying is I can't enable it as you can see in the screenshots. There's no option in the settings, and the option is unclickable in *#*#4636#*#* menu.
The Volte sign never shows in the status bar, and in the call history, I don't get the HD sign next to the names, only the WiFi - when the call is on VoWiFi. - which is logic, sign I can't get to turn it on.
Thanks in advance.
