Hi all! I have been reading alot of post about Streak's low quality sound output, and I'am experiencing it too, when I plug in my head phones there is no hissing sound, but when I click play or receive a call hissing sound starts and does not end till audio output end.
There is alot of post from people that have the same issue, I will Quote them below. I'm posting this because everyone that has posted this issue has been "overrun" with other people posts that they do not have that background noise.
I just want to expand on this problem, could it be Android version, or perhaps different hardware? Any suggestion is welcome.

Hi,
Personally I find that whatever I use as earphones, I have a hard time accepting the noise level on the streak. When playing music at a medium volume, the noise is really very very present.
I suppose there is no work around is there? Doesn't this bother you for serious listening?

The sound quality is absolutely abhorrent in comparison to the Galaxy SII or any other smartphone I've ever used, including the HD2, Vibrant, several Nokia devices, etc.
There is a constant and definitely audible signal noise in the Streak that really bugged me. As a recording engineer, I can definitely hear the difference between the audio systems on the two devices. When the playback system kicks in, you can literally hear the hiss in the background. When the playback stops, the hiss vanishes. Upon further investigation, it seems that this is a known issue that found its way into several reviews. If I hadn't heard it for myself, I'd have not believed how terrible it actually sounded, and frankly, it's SO bad that I find it inexcusable on such a high-end device.
I sold my iPod and bought a larger MicroSD to use my phone as my main portable media device, and the Streak really let me down.

If it's boosted, wouldn't that cause more noise since noise will also be boosted?
I'm having the same problem. Hissing noise in the background. I also got mine couple days ago. I bought it when it was $200 unlocked from dell.
I'm on stock 347. I should have tested the earphone when I had 351.
It makes the hissing noise in music, internet radio, wherever sound is being played. It has a constant level of hiss noise even if I raise the music volume or reduce it to minimum.

I believe it's the hardware. Doesn't matter what OS level you're running (I've experienced it on 2.1, 2.2, 2.3)
I've actually found it to be more tolerable on the Dell oem headphones when compared to my nice headphones (etymotic research er6i)

I hope its OS because some don't have this issue, maybe MIUI 2.3.2 Rom wont have this problem (when they fix the problem with headphones not being recognized).
And yes, on Dell oem headphones it is less noticable but compared to 50-100$ better headphones, Dell's are low quality, although they are one of the best in box headphones that comes with device.
I have some basic knowledge in Java and C. Could anyone point in the right direction so I can try to edit/tweak some setting of audio output. Any info would be appreciated.
It's also noticible on the S7 and venue. At least on the S7 you can only really notice it in a room that's completely silent, but at least for that i'm talking about the external speakers.
All I can say is that it's pretty much not noticible for me as long as it's not silence/very low volume music. At least for me it's very easy to drown out the hiss by raising the volume as it does not/minimally scales with the volume.
Keep in mind that the speakers/headset jack simply do not recieve power when not in use, the hiss on them could be part of the inherent design of it. It might be noise after the DAC as it doesnt scale anywhere near 1:1 with the audio. But I'm just blindly guessing

The V has pretty much no perceptable hiss, and I believe the V and S5 share the same audio drivers (dont quote me on this), it might merely be a hardware issue on the S5.
I cant really say much about the S7's headset out, as it's rather unwieldly to use that way.
Also I'm very sure that it ISNT dependant on volume, like previously mentioned unless your current headset is loud to begin with, just turn up the volume and it drowns out nicely.
But yes it will be noticable on the quiet parts of music or during track changes.
tl;dr: turn up volume, V's got a cleaner output
Equipment tested on:
S5: CM7.2
S7: SD7-r9 (514-xx)
V: SD4-250 (408)
headset: iphone in ear headphones
I think its just the poor SNR ratio of the streak, its only -79db or something, its very poor.

Makes me sad
I haven't seen this posted about the Note. Does anyone else have a bad hiss when listening to music? Using Google Music and spotify, there is a definite hiss in the background.
I realize the Note's audio chip isn't great but I wasn't expecting this. Coming from the Captivate, this is really annoying me at the moment.
I hear it only in headphones
I don't hear it on the speaker or via BT. Haven't used the headphone jack yet.
Right, only on headphones. Quite loud and intrusive. I listen to my good quality in-ears at work for hours every day. I can't believe just how crappy the sound is on this otherwise fantastic device.
Ok, you got me wondering so I put on a decent pair of over-the-ear cans and spent 10 minutes flipping through a half-dozen channels of XM (128 kbps streaming). Then 5 more minutes going through several high-quality MP3s (variable bitrate with a max of 224 kbps).
No hiss, no background noise at all during the soft parts. Cranked the volume up to max, no distortion. Very happy with the results - much better than my last phone, the onboard sound on that sucked.
I'm on the stock rom, are you using something else?
For mere there's some noise when I'm not listening to anything, but I only hear it on my headphones.
In car Hiss
have not noticed it with headphones...but.....While using the car dock, any pause in the music whether it be on Pandora, Google Music, or just no app selected, There is a really annoying hiss/feedback through the speakers in the car. This is using the audio output connected to my stereo's AUX input.
It's just like a bad ground "whine" on a stereo...speeds up and down with the car. Never did this before with any other phone/device, so I know it's the note or the dock. I have not tried connected directly to the headphone jack on the note, I'll have to try that out.
Yeah the skyrocket did that too. I have a video up on you tube of it.

As stock as can be here. The hiss is most apparent at the beginning of the track when it starts playing but no music yet. As soon as the track starts playing, you can here it click on with the hiss.
Did I get a defective one?
I'm using a very good pair of in-ears (UE700s). I'll try to dig up some cans later to try it. Maybe directing sound directly onto the ear drums via in-ears picks up the hiss better (less natural filtering?).
Another thought: is there an internal amp volume/gain? Listening to the in-ears, it seems the media volume is very loud even at low settings and amps up quickly with each keypress. Maybe there is another sound tweak I can make somewhere.

A common problem if you are also charging - you are setting up a ground loop. You can add a ground loop isolator on the audio cable (big and clunky), unplug the power, or unplug the audio (and use BT in its place).

While I'm not a die-hard audiophile (I won't spend 10K on a sound system) I do consider myself to be pretty selective. Partly why I ripped my CD collection @ 224 and not something lower - I did lots of tests beforehand and still could hear subtle differences @ 192. Also why I rarely buy 128 kbps mp3s. Anyway, for better or for worse I just don't hear anything negative so maybe yours is defective. I will bust out some in-ear buds tonight and take another listen.

Often media players will have a separate volume from the phone's "media volume". Then there are separate "media volume" settings for BT and the jack. Then don't forget internal volume on BT headphones. It can take some fiddling to find the best combination.

I had the same thing with all my devices. Its just bad ground. That cable will get you set straight.
I never listened to my note with headphones, just with my car stereo with that cable. I hear absolutely no hissing or whining noise, just absolute beautiful sound and bass. This phone is mounds better than the Captivate.
Well, I retried some EQ/volume apps that I might has used recently to make sure there isn't any overboost feature enabled but nothing I can do to solve my problem. argh...
I never tried headphones in my Note with the stock sound equalizer. I had already installed the Beats by Dre mod in the developer's forum.
Zero hum whatsoever, and my happy hardcore sounds amazing.
I too have hiss from the headphone jack. I just returned my first Note yesterday hoping that the hiss would go away. It did not. I use mine in the car with an adapter that hooks directly to the back of my radio (JVC proprietary style).

Huh... I was about to return mine today but maybe it might be fruitless? Or maybe there is a large quantity with hiss and others without?
For those with no hiss, do you find the volume to be very loud? What I'm talking about is even at low settings, just 2-3 notches above silent, the volume is already pretty loud. My phone feels like the internal "gain" was set too high.
I know on my captivate, I could set the media volume to about 40% and still be comfortable. On my Note, it's about 20-30% if that.
Does volume of the note sounds real low to you compared to smaller phones???

No, it is TOO LOUD. just a couple notches above zero and some music is already getting too loud. This is with headphones not internal speaker.
I just got back from swapping my phone from the AT&T store. Both models (black/white) on display had the hiss. I decided to go ahead and swap and maybe a new shipment had an updated phone. NOPE, the hiss is still there.
I've used 3 different in-ears (couldn't find any over the ear cans) and also tested on a captivate and galaxy tab 10.1. It's the Note that is doing the hissing and very noticeable even at low volumes. Easiest to hear is right when you track begins but before the music starts.
I think this might be a deal breaker for me. I love this thing though. Especially irritating with spotify between tracks.
music end -> hiss -> soundless gap -> hiss 0> music starts
Anyone know of an app (probably one that requires root) that can adjust the internal gain like what voodoo sound did?
This older thread I just found (post #5) seems to describe my problem as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538573
In order to quantify if this is hardware or not, try doing a factory reset (since you've returned your phone it shouldnt be that big of a deal).
Then, using the stock player on the phone (feel free to update Google Music or any other apps that came with the phone) see if you have the same hiss.
The factory reset is to determine if its possibly an app you installed at some point that is 'boosting' the sound internally without your knowledge. Sound boosting can create signal to noise problems.
Make sure your phone isnt plugged in / charging to anything (not plugged into a PC for example).
And try moving around to different locations, for example, in your house, try going into your front / back yard and see if the problem persists.
You also might try a different set of headphones and see if you have the same issue.
And lastly, if you plug in the headphones and reboot the phone, once the phone is fully booted, check to see if you hear any hiss WITHOUT any apps open?
As a side note, I just tested this (believe it or not, Ive had the Note for 3 weeks now and never plugged in headphones) using Seinnheiser studio HD 600 headphones (very expensive at around $600 for a pair and VERY power efficient) and have no hiss. However, the sound quality isnt all that great but that is a different issue.

Thanks for your helpful tips. Unfortunately, I've tried all that. Factory reset and all. As soon as the phone is ready to go, I listen to some music and hear the hiss immediately. Home or office, no difference. Not plugged in. Different in-ears. 4 different Notes.
I'm using very good in-ears (UE 700s, dual armature) and also decent SuperFi.3s.
Something interesting. Took a listen to a friend's good headphones just now and do not hear any hiss. Even if the media volume cranked up close the max, sounded fine, no hiss and listenably loud. With the in-ears, I can barely get half way up in volume because it becomes too loud.
Anyone here use in-ears? I know most prefer headphones or earbuds.
I'm going to try an inline attenuator tonight to see if that helps (if I can find it!).
What do you mean 'as soon as the phone is ready to go'?
As in, the instant you plug in headphones the hiss is there?
My guess is likely that the in-ear headphones are putting the sound right up to your ear drum and they likely are super sensitive.
The sound chip in the Note is not near to as good as the sound chip in the Captivate.
Im going to do a bit more experimenting with this as the only headphone I have are the seinnheisers and they arent exactly great for portable listening. I have a friend coming over tonight who has some very high quality in-ear headphones and Ill see if I hear anything with those.
Just wanted to know if anyone else noticed faint buzzing/scratching/hissing noises coming out of their headphone jack...
(and yes I have tested several headphones/earbuds and tested with my MDRv6's all with the same results. Its definitely the phone not the headphones)
When I insert my headphones there is a quick beeping sound that plays for a second or so then goes quiet.
When music is playing, especially soft music (a particular song was Instant Crush; Daft Punk) there is a hiss in the background, specifically when certain tones play.
It was terribly noticeable right at the beginning of a few songs, especially the one I listed above.
I also have button sound effects enabled. So When I press one of the soft UI buttons it makes a tick noise. However for about 5 seconds after the tick there is a long hiss then silence until I press another button.
The volume of the hissing/scratching noises is directly related to the actual volume of the device and the note playing.
Im on stock build 11c w/root, and I havent found a lot of info about this problem.
Just wondering if anyone has noticed this, or if this is a known issue?
If your phone is warranteed, I would bring it in
The G3 boasts an AMPLIFIED 1 watt sound speaker, which means there is a powered sound processor.. Unless the jack needs to be cleaned, I would lean toward thinking there is a defect in your phones jack, or sound assembly. I think its more than likely a defective jack, especially if there are no sounds like you are describing when headphones are not in use
Yeah the phone is brand new. I think I'm going to RMA....

Just got my G3 a week ago and didnt use headphones until I read your post, I tested many different songs with different players, stock player, google player, Iheart radio, pandora, etc, headphone sound is crystal clear on mine, I dont get any beeps either like you described, I did notice you need to make sure the jack is pushed in good and tight, I put it in and thought it was all the way in and sound was crappy, pushed a bit harder and it clicked in good and sound was great, do you have a case that may be preventing the jack from being pushed in all the way, I had a phone in the past that this happened to me with, had to cut away some rubber on the jack to make it fit snug, if none of those are the issue, I would look into a warranty claim. I am using the beats audio earbuds that came with my HTC M7 I had before this phone.

That could be the issue. I know on the 2012 Nexus 7, it's really bad. It's supposedly due to the microUSB port and the headphone jack sharing the same circuit, or some engineering thing like.
Wonder if it's the same or if they didn't shield the headphone jack very well and it's picking up interference from the microUSB port when charging?
I didn't want to leave this up in the air so I figured I would post an update.
I replaced my G3 through Verizon for a brand new unit. My first phone was of an earlier batch (came with the 10b update) the second one was of a later batch and had 11b pre-installed.
Both phones had the same issue. There is a hissing noise/distortion that comes from the headphone jack. Even when not playing music.
I noticed it on other phones too but not anywhere nearly as much. I understand that any audio source is going to have a little background interference but the G3 definitely has a more significant issue than others.
However it seems to be entirely dependant on what headphones you are using.
1st. I tested first with my Sony MDR-v6's which the problem is most noticeable on. Extreme hissing/background noise.
2nd. Then I used a pair of Audio Techina ATH-PRO500's and the problem was almost unnoticeable.
3rd. I also tried my Steel Series Siberia v2's and the problem was again almost completely gone.
4th. I also used my receiver at home. JVC 5.1 channel receiver with RCA speakers and a Kenwood sub, didn't notice the issue at all. However there where some occasional strange popping noises when no music was playing I didn't get on my GS3 or other MP3 player.
5th. Finally I tried the ear buds that came with my Galaxy S3 and the distortion was again totally noticeable with and without music playing.
This is most definitely an issue that totally depends on what headphones you are using not sure if it has to do with sensitivity or impedance (this is what most people think) however it is most definitely an issue. I saw a few threads saying that audio issues were a problem in Android 4.4.2 however LG/Verizon have yet to release a stock base on anything but.
I suppose I could flash AOSP 4.4.4 and see if the problem persists but I don't know if that would even be worth it.
2 phones and 4 headsets later this is starting to seem like either a software or a design issue.
However I have nothing but good to say about every other bit of this phone. Really besides the audio jack top notch all around.

I might have found a workaround for this
I have tested 3 LG D855 and all of them have noise/static/high-freq leak from the processor out to the headphones. It might be a faulty design for the headphones amplification stage for headphones (when the headphones logo appears on the status bar). However, when using line level output (the jack appears on the status bar) the problem does not reproduce.
Therefore the workaround I've found is to trick the phone into line level output mode and then plug the headphones. To do this you need to plug in a 3.5mm jack extensor or a 2-to-1 3.5mm Y-adapter with no load, that's it, with nothing connected to it. At that moment, the phone will activate the line level output mode. Only after that you will connect the headphones, and you'll see there are no artifacts on the audio.
That being said, I'm not sure this will work with all kind of headphones as I have only tried with mines that are low-impedance ones, but on those it works perfectly. To be checked if the level of the signal in line mode is enough to drive other headphones.
In any case, it is a shame this happens with a high-end and expensive smartphone. I was hopping this will be fixed in a newer hardware revision but I got two replacements of mine and no luck. I have read somewhere this might be a flaw in Snapdragon 801, as it integrates completely the signal routings but isolates badly highfreq noise from processor stages, etc. etc. but I do not remember where I did read it unfortunately.
I hope this helps!

Ive been having the same issue. I have a pair of Shure SE846 which are about 8ohms. I experience the poor audio, especially the noise in the left channel. I find that placing a call and then listening to music removes the left channel static but the sound is still kinda bad. Ill try your suggestion tonight and post back. Just wanted to let you know your not alone.
I despise my G3 because of this. Im looking to get a new phone unless I can fix this.
Nope, my sound is perfect on my high-end Sony over the ear phones. Crystal clear on pure stock G3 .
I haven't noticed any artifact issues on my phone when using headphones, however when I plug it into my vehicle and also plug in the charger that causes everything to go nuts. The USB interference causes a crazy amount of excess noise. I haven't ever actually tried listening to headphones while charging, so in the car is the only time I've ever noticed it. The same issue occurs when I plug in my Galaxy Tab Pro into the aux jack and charge it at the same time, so this is definitely not unique to the G3. I wish all phones had as good an amplifier as my HTC DNA does, I still use that thing for music because the sound is so good.

I'm having a different audio problem.
With headphones plugged in and listening to music using any player, the right side sound emits distortion/hissing noise at a certain frequencies. When I tested it with plugging a 3.5mm to 3.5mm to an external amp (JDS labs c5) the distortion/hissing noise is completely gone. So it's definitely not a faulty jack
The hissing is evident at the beginning of (first few seconds) Tina Area's Still Running and You set fire to my heart .
I'm testing it with sensitive iem (Westone Um3x).
So does this mean there is a problem with the internal amp of the g3 or more to do with the os bug that can be solved with a custom kernel or update.
Is this a common issue found on all g3s?

Hi! This worked perfectly for me but for me instead of tricking the phone into line level output mode, I detaching one side of my headphones before plugging it into the headphone jack then reattached it afterwards. I'm using pair of sensitive iems (Westone um3x rc)
Everything is quit with no distortion, just how it should be!
One thing, is there an option within android or an app that can permanently enable line level mode ever time headphones are plugged in without having to trick it.
If so, I won't have to sent my phone for repair!
Also are there any disadvantages for using line level with headphones?

Using line out shouldn't make any difference on audio quality. It only disables the remote (buttons and microphone).
Would also really like a way to force the line-out mode. Btw, does this affect all G3s? Cause right now I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle of replacing it.

I know but some how using line out causes the hissing from the right side to go away completely. Strange huh
Are you also having this problem?
I also don't want to return mine if it exists in all g3s and there's a easier work around.
Yea same thing. I have artifacts in the left channel except when I manage to force the phone to recognize the headphones as line-out. I did this with the adapter to test it and it's impractical if not impossible to use the same adapter all the time.
I'm gonna try doing this right this moment to see if it works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/hissing-noise-left-ear-playing-music-t2804065/page17

I don't use earphones with a volume remote or microphone so that's not a problem.
It could be more to do with the increase in output impedance but I might be wrong cos the volume level is identical to headphone out.
I'm also getting a lot of static background noise but it disappears after making and hanging up a call as mentioned in a thread.
But yeah a permanent fix by forcing it into line out or doing some changes in kernel would be much more convenient

Great news! I just tried the fix from that thread and it worked. Here's the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59601465&postcount=150
I'm using stock rom which had 3 mixer xml files and I edited 2 of them, mixer_paths.xml and mixer_paths_qcwcn.xml. Also, instead of changing the value to 0, I deleted the entire line as it was suggested later in the thread.
The artifacts/noise in the left channel are gone!

But mine is stock on stock Lollipop via official update and with the hiss coming from the right side.
Please excuses my ignorance but I know nothing about accessing and editing a ROM.
How do I get into the rom and into the file called system/etc"?
Ok I searched for Solution on google, it seems no body else is facing this issue. So here is my problem I migrated on to v30 from v20 and I noticed that whenever i play a song with quad dac on there is a very audible static noise in the background, like if the mic on or a better example would it feels like the song is being played on a radio.. where along with song there is a hint of crackle and white noise. My V20 never had this problem.
Is anyone else facing the issue, BTW I am on Philippine oreo KDZ, and will LG cover the warranty or should i wait and flash Indian Oreo to claim warranty??
did you try different audio sources, headphones, also try some speakers

Look: you ever used the "high performance" mode of the WCD9xxx in-built DAC of any previous Android phone ?
This raises up the output but also comes with the cost of higher "white noise" / static, etc. - this in turn is able to drive headphones with a high impedance Ω
The same applies to the dedicated "quad dac" - it has high output by default and thus is to be experienced best with "high quality" (well, most high quality headphones have higher impedance than the very cheap headphones).
There's a noticable difference for me when switching between e.g. the EP630, Xiaomi Pistons and the provided B & O Headphones that came along with the V30.
So there is NO issue and there is not really a solution but to use it in the way that it was meant to be used

If a DAC has distortion and audible static interference then its not doing its job. In simple layman terms, Switching on DAC should improve sound stage and frequency response and it is noticeable on any even basic headphones. Like I mentioned in my post I have Lg V20 too, and the DAC on that phone doesn't have any of the issue which i mentioned about my V30, to which you say is not an issue. Also Headphone (Mi Piston) is not an issue.. coz the same headphones works perfectly on V20..

well, it could be due to how the driver & kernel is compiled (so it would be an out-of-the-box issue) - I've experienced this kind of increase in static noise on the Z5 once going from fstack-protector-regular to fstack-protector-strong (more functions protected or "tainted" in that case)
https://outflux.net/blog/archives/2014/01/27/fstack-protector-strong/
https://lwn.net/Articles/584225/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffer_overflow_protection
Since the stock kernel is built that way by default the audio output quality could be somewhat worse compared to V20 (if there the kernel was compiled with fstack-protector-regular).
I can clearly hear how there's some distortion and audible static noise when the screen is off, quad dac enabled and changing volume (up or down) - the amp first is gone, the output is much more silent and there sound is less clear - more static can be heard
I've attributed this to the quality of the audio tracks I'm listening to - since with fully digitally created tracks this didn't seem to occur that much.
Also there's one particular issue I had forgotten:
Once connecting the Xiaomi Hybrid Pro and having Quad DAC disabled (so the stock WCD94xx used) either on left or right channel (every several seconds) there is solely (no other output) very loud static noise while playing music [similar to the static on old-ass TVs where only static is being shown and similar sound played],
when enabling quad dac/ES9028PRO it's gone. No matter what audio track is being played this was happening - I wasn't sure whether this was a software or hardware issue and since this was only happening with one particular type of headphones/IEMs I keep the phone so far.
Since you mention that the static noise appears along music output I doubt it's a similar issue you're observing.

Yes I did.. And by v20 i mean i tried all Flac, same mp3 on both the devices, wired speakers, headphones, so it doesnt seem the problem is with any of the external devices, , tried different music player, same problem it has to be issue with V30's dac or the headphone jack its just when i start playing a song with Hifi option on, the static and light crackles starts and when the song finishes playing or I pause the song the noise stops after like 15 seconds or if i turn off the dac the noise stops immediately. But toggling hifi option on and off without any music playing the issue doesnt exist, its just when a song starts and DAC kicks the issue appears, so i doubt its even headphone jack

I wish i could have tested on indian nougat when i had it, to see if it is oreo related issue, now i have to wait for Indian Oreo to see if that rom has the solution. I think Ill probably send it to LG to fix it while its under warranty
Stock Nougat, just going to start the bootloader unlock process, but sonically it's been flawless, orgasmic actually, with Sennheiser 6xx's, Etymotic HF2's and ER4's as well as BT to a UE Boom. Only the occasional crackle because my HF2's cabling is getting old, so sadly I'd think you have a bad unit.
Even I am experiencing the exact same , I'm on Indian Oreo kdz. When I turn on high impedance mode with sennhieser hd 598 and then connect it to my ath e 40 , I get a continuous hiss throughout the song.. sometimes it's irritating really.. I want to ask if someone who has rooted and using whiskyomega mod having same issues ?
By the way I don't get it on hd 598 , it probably dampens it..

The HD598 is 50 ohms (more resistance) while the E40 is merely 12 ohms, with a dynamic driver, I am guessing fairly sensitive. I wouldn't use HIM with earphones like that in the first place. That said, V30 is known for having a very low noise floor, so I wouldn't expect hiss, even with HIM and sensitive earphones.
Which music player do you use and what is your music source? Unfortunately V30 will upsample 44.1Khz sources (i.e. all CDs and most streaming sources) to 48KHz before sending it to the DAC. This should not be audible in most cases, but a few people are able to hear it when using very sensitive IEMs (typically balanced armature drivers). It is described in the opening post of the thread linked below:
https://www.head-fi.org/threads/music-apps-tips-and-tricks-for-the-lg-v30.868978/
The way around it is to use a music player that bypasses the standard Android audio path, such as UAPP or Neutron, both of which use their own audio driver that sends music directly to the ESS DAC.
Another possible explanation is if some EQ or other processing in your music player is messing with the data before it reaches the DAC. If you try playing with UAPP using Bit-perfect mode, that's a great way to determine if it is a hardware problem (which is possible) or something in the digital audio path. This sounds similar to what I experienced with my V30S using Beyerdynamic iDX200 headphones with the extension cable design*.
At first I thought I had received a defective V30S. Then I found the problem was limited to those particular headphones with their included extension cable. With the extension cable removed, and with any other headphones, the V30S audio quality problem disappeared. And the iDX200 sound fine on my other phone, as long as the extension cable connection is clean (it is prone to signal degradation by contamination).
My guess is that the V30 system that measures load impedance on the 3.5mm jack has some kind of anomaly related to imdedance/VSWR imposed by the connection of the iDX200 extension cable, even if that connection is clean.
Try different headphones.
(* The iDX200 cable is too short by itself, it has to be used with a short extension, either the included one or another.)

I have found a solution!!
Go to hifi settings in balance section, reduce the volume from left and right to as low as possible, I've kept it zero and just raise the volume to your liking..
In my case the hiss has reduced drastically to the point I can ignore it ! Hope this works for you!

Great! I'm glad you like it.
And interesting that it solved the noise problem too. That most likely means it was the artifacts caused by upsampling 44.1KHz to 48KHz (performed by Android's standard audio path) that you were able to hear.
UAPP is my favorite too, both for its features, its ability to play redbook (44.1KHz/16bit) without upsampling, and for its user interface. Neutron can do that too, but I could never understand its user interface.
In UAPP, under HiRes Driver flags, make sure to select the MQA flag if you play MQA files or streams. This will ensure that the ESS Sabre DAC is fully utilitized for MQA playback.
Correction- high impedance mode when switched on, even this app makes the noise , I had tried without the high impedance mode..?
but still ,otherwise quality seems better than the stock ! ?

Something is wrong, that just doesn't make sense. If anything, there should be less noise (if the theory of HIM activating more DAC units is true). And in any case is the V30 known for having very little noise, in any of its modes.
How do you trigger HIM? If you plug your headphones/earphones in directly (no adapters of extension cables) is volume loud enough?
If you play music through an impedance adapter, then I suggest you don't. Unplug the adapter once you've achieved HIM, then plug your headphones/earphones into the extension cable (or TRS adapter).
And if you don't need HIM to drive your headphones/earphones loud enough, I suggest you don't need it for maximum sound quality. The V30 was designed to adapt its output mode to the connected headphones/earphones. While it fails to do that correctly with planar magnetic ones, it does it correctly on most others.
Still, unless you are playing through an impedance adapter (which will change the frequency response of your headphones/earphones) or through a poor quality extension cable or TRS adapter, I cannot see a good reason why HIM should have more noise.
Ath e40- when i connect without adapter, loud enough, okayish sound.. Just like any other device..
There was this one time the high impedance mode got activated by mistake, mustve been a glitch! but my god the sound !! - more punch, more soundstage , even minute details audible , more dynamic!! way more louder! Then i searched around and found a way to trigger it everytime by using ath cable extention and sennhieser hd 598 , then unplug senn without unplugging the cable And then connecting e40.
This time i could hear the hiss.. Whenever i plug the earphones only, theres no hiss, and quality is okay.. even though the hifi option is on. i guess it just uses the snapdragon dac or whatever.
to summarize-
if i connect the cable first and then e 40 - sound is louder and okay.
only e 40- sound is okay.
senn and then e40 (to enter high impedance mode, probably uses the quad dac for real this time)- sound is amazing!!!! but with hiss...
I've only used the stock music player uptil now.
now i use uapp- it still gives me the hiss when high impedance is on. otherwise the sound is a bit better than stock music player.
Hi, I bought the nord 2 a few days ago, it's a wonderful phone but I have a problem.
The bluetooth audio quality is horrible. I don't know if it's only on my device , i have tried everything, the stock Dirac hd sound does not support bluetooth devices so the sound is flat. Also it seems like it's playing music on low bit rate. I have switched from aac to sbc there's a slight difference but still it sucks. Also changing some settings in developer settings did nothing.
I have Huawei Freebuds 4I and on every other device the sound is amazing but on the nord it's awful.
Currently I'm using wavelet eq but still the music is playing at a low bit rate. I don't wanna root my phone for viper4android so is there any other solution to this?

One plus Nord 2 is a budget phone yet not cheaper than other budget phones, yet they give a low-quality device like this. Try listening in a different Bluetooth headset.
No issue here, I have samsung galaxy buds+ TWS (aac mode) and a Marshall Mid (aptx mode) and bluetooth quality is perfect in both cases.
And for the lack of Dirac support in bluetooth mode I use the app "Poweramp Equalizer" to get some more bass in my headset
For music you can try jethdaudio player. It is extremely good.
I don't know what you are talking about I am using Realme Buds Wireless 2 on my Nord 2 and it sounds amazing and I mean it since I am picky about the audio quality with negligible delay like mine cost about 1/3rd of yours so it's probably a compability issue LDAC and AAC both work great on nord 2 ofc LDAC sounds better at the cost of more battery usage....

Maybe a faulty piece really should just visit a service centre with all those headsets and see if it can be fixed if possible test out some more headsets by asking from your friends. Also check the settings of the music app you are using it's unlikely but still possible that it's set on low
Can't get it replaced.. Cracked the screen 5 minutes after I took the phone out of the box
Most folks dont know this, but bluetooth is a modern NAME for 'A' software version of hardware based tech capable of transmitting 240v AC through the air.
Tunguska anyone? That was the test, and the origional copywright is owned by TESLA.
Bluetooth, was designed to do the same, it's designed for AC current, explaining why bluetooth digital audio is the WORST sound ever invented.
Blutooth sounds so crap due to the following:
1: The inventors of digital audio decided to remove EVERY frequency the human ear cant hear. (according to who?)
2: They are now removing the lower base frequencies that we COULD hear, if we had say speaker's like my set of BW speaker's used by the BBC in the 60's and 70's, which can produce EVERY frequency. To make these speakers today is £14.000 PER speaker.
3: By removing all lower frequencies, they removed what is known in music, as the BODY of sound. They started this with digital techno, aka goa trance. I stopped buying musical digital instruments just because of this. If you take a 90's version of say 'Rising High's Church of Extacy' ( The tune that officially killed rock and roll due to it's pure analogue sound quality, hardness, and the deepest bass ) then play it through bluetooth, all you hear is tsstsstsstss, because the tweaters you think are great sounding speakers literally cant play anything under the highhat, without ECHO to fake the BASS.
If it's audio QUALITY you want, DROP bluetooth. Simple.
Another note:
As a dj of over 40 years in the undergound dance music scene, the one thing I cant understand is why I now have no CHOICE but to buy headphones for djing with a bluetooth mic built in! This allows whoever is spying on what we SAY to record my tune or live mix before I leave the gig, and claim it as their own. Try buying decent ANALOGUE headfones for djing.
Final note.
Nfc: the modern day verion of blutooth. Interfere's with bluetooth audio in that the AC current also has it's own magnetic field, which can, like binaural beats, interfere with bluetooth. Most fones use bluetooth AND Nfc. nae luck.
I personnaly know the best hacker in Scotland. 12 letters after his name in computer sciences...! He wrote the bluetooth app the gov called tap n trace, and he sold it to them for £30.000, they added Nfc (Near field Communication) and got most people in the world to install it in their fone. NIce one Gi88's!
Bluetooth... did you bite?

I am using my Sony WH-1000XM3 and it supports LDAC. The audio quality is great with support for equaliser. The only way to get LDAC was change the mode from connection stability to sound quality mode in sony headphone app. By default, it supports SBC. Pls check your headphone's app and also check if your headphone supports relevant codec.hope this helps.
I had a similar issue with my Nord 2 and my Libratone Too BT speaker, sound was horrible, like an old cassette player. The speaker only supports the SBC codec, I think.
I was able to fix the sound quality by enabling developer options and switching to AVRCP 1.6 and MAP 1.4 there.
Update A.16 fixes Bluetooth audio.
the problem is just with the freebuds 4i, but I don't understand why..
