Encryption failed, sometimes bootlooping - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hello guys,
i've get an defect S9+ and trying to get it to work. When i got the the phone there was a problem with the Software Update. I flashed the phone via odin. Now the phone bootloops and sometimes boots up to the message "encryption failed" with a reset button (this message is writen in dutch). I've tried to reset but this doesnt helped. There is still the bootloops and encryption problem.
I can get into the Download mode and into the recovery.
I've tried a german rom version and a dutch one. But I think I've done anything wrong or not flashed properly because the message and info textes, such like "installing update" are in dutch, even when i install a german version.
In Download mode you can read the message:
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
Can anyone help? Is there a possibility to delete everything and install the stuff "from the scratch"?
Sorry for the bad english
EDIT: Translated, i think it's this message:
encryption failed. Unable to start up your device the encryption process was interrupted. You need to reset your device to factory default settings. This will erase all data.

it sounds like somebody probably messed around flashing the phone before you? When you flashed the German ROM, did you use CSC and not HOME-CSC? I think using CSC might be the closest you can do to starting from scratch, wiping everything and all that.

I had the same problem, had to change motherbord so i had to bay me a new one

[Q] phone won't reset, update or even whipe any data

hi all,
Since a week or 2 my phone is constantly giving messages like this: "The application LogsProvider (process com.sec.android.provider.logsprovider) has stopped unexpectedly"
When i make a new contact or a new file on my phone, it disapears after rebooting. When i uninstall all my apps and reboot the phone, all the apps are back and nothing has been uninstalled. Even when i format the sd card on my pc, and reboot the phone, all the content is back as if nothing has happened.
When i try to reset it to factory settings, it opens in recovery mode. When i then select to wipe all data or wipe cache and reboot, nothing has happened to it, everything is still on the phone like before. Even when i deselect the backup and automatic recovery checkboxes before i reset to factory settings, nothing has been wiped.
When i try to update the phone with kies, the update installs correctly, but when the phone reboots, the same old firmware is still installed and the settings are intact.
When i try to update the phone with Odin, everything goes well, and it says 'pass' in green color. when i reboot the phone, the same old firmware and settings are still there.
I run stock firmware from november '11, which i can tell by dialing *#1234*
Can anyone help me identify this problem, and is there a solution? It really looks like this phone has some write protection or something..
i made a youtube video that describes the problem, but this forum doesn't allow me to make a link.
anyway, my phone stays stuck on the 3rd of september and that sucks.. any solutions plz?
the video
i can't post the link, so let's try it like this:
First type the 'www', then the 'youtube', then the '.com', then type 'watch?v=n6SH8QDJr94&feature=g-upl'
Flash custom kernel, do a factory reset in CWM and see if the data is gone.
i've already tried to install cwm, but first i needed to root my phone. When i tried to root it, it could not find the Root.zip on the sd card, although i'm pretty sure i put it there, it just disapeared after the reset, just like all the other files..
Flash it [kernel] through Odin (PC).
allright, i will try that, thanks already!
ehm, even that didn't do anything, i will upload a youtube video in a few minutes..
the youtube video:
type 'youtube', then '.com', then '/watch?v=P_D2EbPF0Ik&feature=youtu.be', without the '..
really strange how i can update the kernel and nothing has changed!
I really start thinking there is some kind of write protection or the internal storage is totaly screwed up?
Seems your nand is partially borked, and is stuck in a state where it will not update the memory, so it is "stuck" at a specific point in time.
I have heard that it's POSSIBLE (and I stress possible) that flashing with repartition ticked with the PROPER .pit file will resolve your issue, but I cannot say this with any certainty as I have not actually done this myself. But at this point, it seems you don't really have anything to lose by trying.
I can't seem to find a reliable download link for the .pit file for the I9100 right now... it's called u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit. I'll see if I can't find one when I have a spare moment.
EDIT: Found one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28321934&postcount=35. BUT!!! Only use it if you are positive you have an I9100. (check on the label under the battery) Flash it with a stock firmware with re-partition checked.
False alarm. Turns out the link is dead.
EDIT 2: This looks promising... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448351

DRK not found on NOTE 4 (N910T)

Hi All,
I'm really not sure how to go about with this so hopefully I can get some help here. I have a Note 4 (N910T) model which was never able to do OTA update from it's 5.1.1 state. It'd download the patch and upon reboot, it'd say installation fail.
Eventually I went into the rabbit hole and used Odin to try to update the phone to 6.0.1. No luck either as it'd just get stuck on aboot. I rebooted the phone and tried to use Smartswtich from samsung and hoped that it'd update using that. Not only does it not work and stuck in the "Odin Mode (fast track)" screen, it eventually tell me that I need to go through recovery to get it back.
I didn't know what to do at that point, so I've decided to try my luck again with Odin. This time, the patch went through successfully with my surprise. However upon reboot after the patch is installed, it gave me an error "DRK not found" error. I simply reboot the phone and all seems to be working. On 6.0.1, no lagging issue, no wireless/mobile network issue, nothing.
However, I do want to know if I still have an error of DRK not found, and would like to patch that hole before any problem occurs. Can any one help? I haven't rooted the phone yet.
bump, any help would be welcomed. Thanks!! :crying:
Is it still giving that error upon every reboot or it was only on the first reboot? If you aren't having other issues and your IMEI / service / etc is fine, then nothing to worry about.
You also kept mentioning "patch". This is not common usage. What file did you flash via Odin?
Thanks for the reply!! this is what i downloaded to update the firmware using Odin:
rootmygalaxy.net/download-install-n910tuvu2epe3-marshmallow-t-mobile-note-4 (http at front)
the IMEI seems fine, and it doesn't show the error upon reboot except the first time. However the phone seems to freeze quite often now for no reason at all. Not sure how to troubleshoot that one.

Did you install the 1st link there from the Download button or the 2nd one for the n910t3 file located @ androidfile?
I actually used another firmware today and so far it seems to not lag AS much.. but still freezes with no apparent reason:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/development/roms-10-29-2014-t2922618
The one that I downloaded was N910TUVS2EPG2_N910TTMB2EPG2_TMB = v6.0.1 = Build date Thu, 07 Jul 2016 13:33:23 +0000 = NEWEST UPLOADED FIRMWARE
The reason I flash again is because I tried to root my device using CF_auto root, which upon reboot, caused an error of "Kernel is not Seandroid enforcing" on boot menu.
Oh and the DRK error comes back everytime after i flash the firmware, but it only appears once, and no more on subsequent reboots. My IMEI looks fine but my S/N upon typing *#60# is (none)
bump .. phone is rebooting more and more, and it's freezing more often now... help please!!

Bootloop after updating galaxy s6 G890A.No support single sku, kernel is not seandroid

So... I wanted to update my phone and since update from setting wasn't working even though update was available, I tried to update it manually from a xda thread, but after one of those security updates my phone started to get hot, randomly restart and go to bootloop. During restarts it sometimes shows messages like:"System software, not authorized by at&t has been found on your phone" or "kernel is not seandroid enforcing" . In recovery mode it says: "no support single sku, supported API: 3". When I try to manually update my phone or reinstall the current firmware with odin, it passes normally But when odin is done flashing and phone reboots, it starts in recovery mode and says "updating device", which fills until 32% when phone suddenly stops update installation and says "erasing". After it's done, phone reboots again and starts "normally" but with random restarts and bootloops. So I think that system problem is caused by incorrect installation of the firmware which fails at recovery mode part and I read somewhere that "erasing" problem has something to do with CSC country code which is set to USA or something(which I amn't quite sure of), but there is no available code for my country Georgia and even if it was I don't know how to modify CSC.tar.mdi before flashing. I'm quite new at this stuff, so if you have any suggestions I would be glad to hear it.

Can't find misc partition in J7 prime recovery option

Hello all,
I have been given a phone(Galaxy J7 prime, SM-G610F) by a friend. It has official android nougat firmware and I believe he has not messed up his phone because he doesn't know much about such things. The complaint is that whenever I switch on the phone, so many services keep stopping and I get those stupid popups. I tried to factory reset the phone from settings menu, but whenever phone resets and comes to normal state, everything is like before. Nothing has been wiped out. All the data and apps are still there. I tried to wipe cache partition and format using recovery, but it says can't find /misc partition and the process fails. Sometimes, I get no command while booting. I flashed stock firware using odin. Even when odin says pass, the phone still starts like before. No new change. I don't understand what is wrong with the phone.
Do you guys have any possible solution to help my poor friend?

Unable to set property ro.boottime.init.mount.cache after upgrade firmware with Odin

I'm having a strange issue after flashing latest firmware on my Tab S7 (SM-T870)...
When I try to flash an update with odin I'm using "HOME_CSC" as I want to keep the data on the device. However it results in a boot loop to recovery where I have 3 options
1. Restart the phone
2. Factory reset
3. Check logs
Restarting the phone just restarts it and boots to the same menu.
I've checked the logs and saw an error saying:
Unable to set property "ro.boottime.init.mount.cache"
I've tried wiping cache in recovery as well, but that didn't help.
Anyone here who can help me out?
Thanks!

Maybe try to reflash previous firmware version.
There is no need to run after the lastest update.

No I tried it but only factory reset does help -.-
This is why I hate Samsung for Security reasons after a f***ing Update ...
I have the same problem, but i didn't update from Odin.
Just OTA september update, and the phone randomly goes in bootloop like once in a week.
Same here. Does anyone have any news?
same here. im in a bootloop and not even factory reset helps. i can access recovery and download mode and have flashed newest firmware three times via Odin with "pass," wiped cache, name it i've done it. I'm despondent. Does
Samsung not have the equivalent of Oneplus's MSM tool? four days have i worked furiously to save my phone.
sorry to revive, but I'm having this issue as well on my z fold 4.
Factory reset helped for about a week, and back to bootloops every 3 min or so.
PASS received in Odin, had to use micro usb cable with C-adapter as c->c did not allow Odin to complete flash (stuck at ~95% on "Super").
Not sure which error in the logs apply, but the "unable to set property "ro.boottime.init.mount.cache" to "0": error code: 0xb, try count 1-3" seem to be cause for alarm.
Has anyone fixed this?
