Ok guys, my friend's Note 10.1 got in a bootloop and he asked me to fix it for him, as it will be with me for a few days and I've already fixed it I decided to do a comparison, feel free to ask for my opinion on things I don't mention.
First off I guess I'll start with the ports
On the left side there's nothing on the Note while on our Nexus we have the Micro USB port and the 3.5mm headphone jack, on the right side we have the micro HDMI out, the note doesn't have anything on this side either.
At the bottom we find the pogo charger on the N10 and the charger/USB/MHL port in the Note, the S Pen is located in the right bottom corner, there's a Mic located at the bottom in both of them.
At the top we find the volume rocker and the power/lock key while on the Note we find those along with an IR blaster and a Holy Micro SD card slot (god damn it google)
It's also worth noting that the Note doesn't have NFC.
This is subjective but the tacky back and sides of the Nexus make it far easier to hold and it feels solider., the glossy back on the Note doesn't feel nearly as bad as I thought it would.
The speakers
I didn't think I would write anything about these but after some use I noticed the speakers on the Note sound better, this must be thanks to Samsung's tuning, as I'm almost completely sure these devices share the same hardwarein this area, perhaps we can copy it?
Oh and by the way the Note has different sound profiles on the video player and Music app, all of them sound better but this isn't limited to these apps, the difference is found across all apps, launch Youtube or third party music players and you'll notice it.
I'll talk about the performance without bringing the benchmarks here as you can find those everywhere else, for this test I´ll be comparing my sister's N10 (which isn't rooted and is completely stock) with the stock Note.
The Note is running 4.1.2 while my sister's N10 is running 4.2.2, I'll start by clearing all recents and closing everything with the task manager on the Note
Scrolling across the homescreens and the app drawer is really smooth on both however there are micro lags on the Note - Disregard that, I had one update left and wehn I did it it got rid of the micro lags while this doesn't happen on the Nexus, I suspect this is the launcher's fault tough.
Launching apps happens at pretty much the exact same time most o the time, the Nexus is faster by fraction of a second some times.
The note does have more free RAM all of the time as it's GPU doesn't need as much of it as the on the N10, It can use as much as 1.78gbs of it while we can only use 1.2gbs
For the browser comparison I'll be using chrome beta on both, all browsing data has been cleared. I can compare the AOSP browser performance but I'd have to use my N10.
I'll just say that the sites load faster the Nexus, after that the browser experience is pretty much the same until you pinch to zoom which brings us to the screen section.
Edit: The S Pen is really useful when browsing as it can act as a mouse when you hover on website dropdown menus and the like.
The screens
This is probably where the biggest differences can be seen (as long as we don't talk about touchwiz), coming from the Nexus 10 you'll inmediately see the jagginess and lack of detail every f*cking where in the Note, from HD videos to text to images, sadly, this is the only thing the Nexus has going for it in the screen department.
The Note has a MUCH, MUCH better color reproduction, the next time I get my hands on my dad's iPad 3 I'll update this to tell you about a comparison between those 2 screens, I think the iPad looks better though.
Not only that but Samsung has also provided it with color modes which are a good thing to have, black levels between the N10 and the Note are comparable they are maybe a little darker in the note HOWEVER I've noticed the Nexus has a better black level (I believe that's how it's called, for reference go here www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php) The note has trouble with the darker tones.
The screen on the note is far far more responsive than the one in the Nexus I beleieve this is a software issues icause on purpose in the Nexus, do the following:
Open the your favorite broswer and make your thumb and index finger touch each other as when you prepare to pinch to zoom, now, with both fingers together start the pinch gesture, you'll notice how the Nexus will NOT begin to pinch to zoom until your fingers are about 1/3" apart from each other, This isn't a hardware issue as if you enable the show touches option in developer setting yo ucan see the device is registering both of them.
Now download and install the Quickpic gallery app from the Play store and pinch to zoom the same way in there, you'll see how that app behaves, the is the way the Note/HP Touchpad/iPad behave when you pinch to zoom in them.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the Note doesn't have any kind of backlight bleed.
The camera
Well, while the Samsung camera app offers many more options than the stock 4.2 camera.for some reason it takes longer to focus and the pictures are NEVER even close to the quality the N10 offers, the pictures are just terrible, I think this is the same sensor as the one in the N10 but for some reason the pictures are full of noise and lack detail.
The front facing camera is just as good as the one in the N10, Hell, I think it's better than the rear facing one, and like in the Nexus, it's one of the best front facing cameras I've seen. (It's miles ahead of the iPad)
Well, that's all I can think of at the moment, feel free to ask about other differences.
Have you done any gaming on the note 10.1? I am especially interested in hearing about heavy games like MC4 or so as sometimes my N10 lags during gameplay for MC4. It is however pretty smooth on other games like Nova 3 and asphalt 7 with gorgeous graphics.
Thanks in advance if you consider this.
Sent from my GT-N7100 or the Nexus 10, heaven knows.
Those who help noobs go to heaven. True story.
What about the battery life? I am really curious about this question.
Sometimes the nexus 10 has some laggs while using the chrome browser.
I also miss the 3g modul in the n10
The battery on the Nexus is a bit better (my sister has a lot of battery sucking apps though, and I'm UV'ed in my Nexus so I won't use it to compare it with the Note) I have yet to try any heavy games, I'll run NFSMW later today after I flash the Note as it went back to the damn bug even after the ODIN restore.
Don't use Chrome... Use the stock browser or Boat browser.
No lags, delays, anything - pinch to zoom is ultrasmooth and pages load fast.
I get the feeling that people experiencing lags or sluggish behavior are running a ton of un-optimized widgets, because I never had any problems and my benchmark results are stupidly high compared to anything else.

I know but you can't load the AOSP browser on the Nexus unless you root it, I could use mine for comparison though.
I actually had the note 10.1 before i got the nexus 10. It was the white version and boy was she pretty. Just a little too much plastic for my taste. The screen was gorgeous! With all honesty I enjoy it a little better then the nexus 10 screen. I guess I'm a rich color type of guy. The downside of the things was the fact I felt the screen was built for the s pen using only. Every time I tried to swipe across a application it would open that app up if I wasn't using the s-pen. It got to the point where it was unbearable to use. So I got the nexus 10 And been loving this beast every since. I love the feel of the tablet, the front speakers are nice and the most important reason why I fell in love with this thing. Stock android and The SPEED!!!! The speed is the fastest i seen on any android devices and i had them all. Also the camera is one of the best you can find on a tablet.

You say the screen was better on the Note?? I just returned the note because I couldn't stand reading text on it, it was just too fuzzy for my tired old eyes. I was assuming the Nexus would be better being that it has a higher resolution. I guess I'll have to make a Staples run and see if they have the Nexus' in stock and see for myself.

He meant color wise, the screen on the Nexus I'd the shapest one you'll find on any tablet, reading on it is great but whoever calibrated it crippled it on purpose.
The N10 is sharp and you will have no problems as far as reading text on it.
Note port?
So I love my Nexus 10, but I was wondering if anyone has tought of porting the Note 10.1 ROM to the Nexus? I just need a little more productivity from this tablet. Plus the stock browser is faster than the chrome.
my nexus 10 also has the hdmi slot.. why the note 10,1 uses a samsung dongle.. like a apple type variant.. only samsung approved
Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Huawei Mate 9 under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The only choppy scrolling I've experienced so far (3 days of use in the US) is with the Twitter app Talon. I'm using the international version (MHA-L29).
Compared to the Nexus 6p, it's bad. Especially in instagram. I cannot stand how choppy it feels. I love the phone but this issue is a deal breaker

Hmm, interesting, i came from 6P to M9 few days ago.
On Nexus i was using pure nexus rom+elementalx kernel, on stock governor settings, when i put phones side by side, this Mate 9 performed better- opening apps, scrolling in chrome, google+ ,instagram, he only app that is stuttering a bit is facebook as always, but that app is crap due to low optimizations. 6P feels very smooth on fresh rom install, but after i set up few basic apps, use for a day, or go through few charges, it slows down very much, compared to Mate 9, who has much crap stock apps,e.t.c. Most stock apps like stock messenger and keyboard i replaced with google stock ones.:good:
I've mentioned this in another thread, on my device the only app with massive scrolling lag is Google Play Games, everything else is buttery smooth.
I use Instagram via Hermit so can't really comment on that one.

Honestly you're going to have to just expect some apps a little choppier than others. The one place where I really always judge it is by using Google now. The better optimized phones I find will be buttery. I had a slight hiccup here and there with my honor 8 compared to the oneplus 3t. My Mate 9 will be here tomorrow so I'm hoping all is well.
Same here, and the scrolling physics are screwy

In Talon, and less so in some other apps, the page seems to start scrolling slow, then speed up, then slow to a stop in a very unnatural way.
This is the smooth phone I have ever used.

Dears ,
i already have iphone x for almost a year now , and am thinking of switching to mate 20 pro ,
what do you guys think ?
also my main concern is the smoothness and stuttering of the phone as you now the gestures navigation in the iphone is very smooth & fluid , is the mate 20 pro the same and does the performance mode ON helps in this & prevents any stuttering or there is still the same android stuttery behavior now & then compared to IOS ?
also am concerned about the face unlock as i have a beard and many said that the Mate 20P face unlock have hard times with faces with beards?
thanks any advance for any opinions
Anyone guys
No one here used the 2 agents phones ?
You won’t find any android phone as smooth as the iPhone. I have the pixel 3 XL which considered the most fluid android device and I can tell you it’s no where as fluid as the iPhone XS.

From the iPhone X ? It's not worth-it. If you're coming from the iPhone 8, then yeah.

Not worth it. You will be getting a much smoother experience with the iPhone X. Plus I don’t think you’re going to like emui.
Performance is great on the Mate 20 Pro. In most cases it opens apps quicker than the iPhone, and this is without performance mode. In terms of fluidity, iPhone will always seem more fluid because of its heavy animations. In terms of performance I don't think you will be disappointed. Have a look at this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhjkwd9NmG4
On top of that, battery is much better than the X, and in low light photography there is no comparison, plus the wide-angle lens is a killer feature in my opinion.
Face unlock works great for me (almost 100%), but I don't have a heavy beard. It feels a lot quicker than the iPhone because you have the option to unlock directly to the home page, so there is no need to swipe up. The fingerprint scanner is also very convenient when the phone is lying on a desk and you don't fancy picking it up.

My only small issue is with the fluidity but for newrly everything else i like android equally and sometimes more than the iPhone and ios

Thanks sir for this great detailing
Thats exactly why am leaning to change specially that in my country incould sell my 1 year old iPhone x with the same price of new mate 20 pro or a tiny bit less
I came from an iPhone X to M20P and don't miss it. Love the longer battery life and camera is brilliant. I like the big screen phones so wanted to move back to that and the XS didn't really do it for me. The M20P is lovely to hold as well, just feels nice in the hand

So didn’t you ever felt like using cheaper phone and what is the feeling of gestures and scrolling compared to ios in terms of smoothness and fluidity ? And if you try with performance mode?
Another one coming from IPhone X and also do not regret it, M20P feels faster in use, battery life and charging times are much better and the wide angle camera is so much more useful than a zoom.
Had to go back to the iPhone when I had the green screen issue and it felt like going back in time.

No never felt like I was using a cheaper phone. Seems very solid.
To be honest, I'm no expert but seems quite fluid with smoothness etc... I've had Android before but it's always a slight learingibg curve when you switch
Feels no slower than iPhone and if anything slightly faster, I've not seen any stutter.

Would you say that the Google Pixel 4 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Google Pixel 4 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

Same for me. Had to enable this in developer options. It felt choppy with the default setting which is pretty sad.
But after ticking that option this thing flies Smooth as butter. And even the gestures are ok in this final version. They got it nearly as good as the Apple implementation. But I still don't understand why the back gesture is attached to the left side. Just keep it on the right and the left side remains for the Android sandwich menus.
Otherwise it is an upgrade in nearly every department over my pixel 3. Far better speakers, better microphone, awesome screen and my first pixel that I don't have to trade in for a replacement due to a hardware issue. I don't know why it gets so much hate in the internet...
Only thing is the inhand feel. The pixel 3 was slimmer and had more rounded edges and was a bit more comfortable in the hand. Battery also seems ok for me so far. But further testing over the next few days will show the truth.

Definitely feels faster than my Pixel 2. But we're less than a day in. Let's see how it copes after 6 months.

the reason for the chopiness is because of digital wellbeing... turn usage access off and try it for yourself. the best way to disable digital wellbeing is by deleting the app through adb, but I haven't found an ADB version that works for pixel 4 yet

The latest version of Android just shows how Google created the software for his hardware first, like Apple does with his iPhone.
Everything is smooth, apps animations and handling, with multitasking, is much more polished if compared to the past Pixel phones, surely thanks to the extra RAM added. Motion Sense adds a really helpful hand to the user experience...but it costs a big amount of battery, especially on the small Pixel 4...
I've seen lots of complaints regarding the Pixel 6 Pro and while I was considering upgrading, I'm now not sure on what to do.
I honestly don't know. Mine is coming today. Personally I decided to go with the smaller pixel 6. I usually don't get a phone on launch day i like to wait for at least 6 months because every phone that has ever been made has problems. But in this case i figured the 6 couldn't be much worse than the pixel 5 which is what i have now so i got it. If the tensor chip proves to be all its claiming and the phone is really as good as it looks then i will get the pro and give the base model to my wife.
Okay cool, let me know what you think of it
Depends on what you're upgrading from. I'm coming from a OP6, so this will be a welcomed upgrade
Depends what you're upgrading from I guess.
I had an Experia 5ii, great little device with a sometimes awesome camera but as time's gone on the proximity sensor doesn't seem to work well and it drops a lot of calls. So as a phone, a bit pants!
What I've noticed so far with the P6.
Display is lovely, going from 120hz to to 90hz wasn't a big deal, it's still smooth. Brightness and colours are the best I've had on a device.
Using it as a phone seems to work well, and in the car it maintains reception.
Haptics are really nice and clicky
Camera is good so far, especially in lower light which in the UK is important!
Batery is good, about 36 hours in normal use.
Fingerprint sensor is OK, it's not great and takes time to register but it's fine.
It is quite heavy.
In use, it's snappy and smooth. I don't game on the phone but for everything else it's quick.
The only real irritating things I can find is the slightly slow FP reader and I can't seem to get rid of the new small at-a-glance on the home screen, I want the old one back!

I had a Xiaomi mi9t Pro with an in display reader and from what I can remember it's about the same.
The permanent (as far as I can tell) at a glance is in the top left corner so you have to stretch your thumb all the way across the screen vs the older widget which you can place anywhere.

We maybe talking at cross purposes... I've attached a couple of screenshots.
I much prefer the at a glance widget which has been available for a few years with the Google Assistant vs the fixed new one in the top left corner.
This is my first pixel, I've had pho es running Pixel Experience before but no Pixel up until now appealed to me, there was always a compromise too far whereas this seems to tick all the boxes, an SD card reader would have been nice though.

Looking at the specs of the regular a71 vs the Pixel 6 (https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=11037&idPhone2=9995), it looks like the Pixel 6 has a smaller screen, but better gorilla glass, much faster CPU/GPU, about the same camera's (maybe a little worse on the Pixel 6, but don't forget Google has a lot of software tweaks to their photos that will help boost the quality above the a71), faster USB, WiFi 6 support and 5G support if you don't have the a71 5g version. The a71 does have a MicroSD slot which the Pixel 6 doesn't have if that's an important feature to you. Oh and the Pixel 6 is IP68 rated, but the a71 doesn't show any IP rating.
Basically the Pixel 6 is a smaller screen, faster phone (CPU, GPU, 5G and WiFi) with equivalent camera quality, but doesn't allow you to expand the storage. So it would be an upgrade, but not a MAJOR upgrade as the a71 is still a very good phone by 2021 standards.
I upgraded from a P3a XL to the P6. I simply will not spend $800-$1200 on a phone that is going to be obsolete in a couple of years. That's why I've stayed with the "A" series Pixels until now. The P6 was a bit of a budget stretch, but the phone is so much better than the "A" series phones that it was worth the extra $100-150 to me.
For me personally, the P6 Pro doesn't offer enough benefits to justify the $300 price difference - that's a 50% increase in price over the P6. Obviously everything in the Pro is slightly better than the P6, but I didn't feel that everything was 50% better.
That being said, the P6 is a great phone and I am very happy with it so far. Of course I've only had it for about 24 hours now. The in-screen fingerprint reader has worked fine for me. It is a "touch and hold" motion (need to hold for almost a second before it unlocks), but I've had probably 90% success with my first touch. It's not as fast or as reliable has the rear reader on the P3 XL, but I actually like the front placement better than the rear. I didn't think I was going to say that, but being able to unlocked the phone while it is sitting on a table without picking it up is really nice. The front reader is also placed in the perfect spot to read your thumb when you do pick it up too.
It's been raining here, so I haven't really tried out the cameras, but I believe they are as good as the former Pixels. Not better yet, but as good. I honestly expect the camera performance to get better as Google continues to tweak the software for the new sensor and lenses. The old sensor was tweaked for years and years to get it to the current quality level. If Google can start at that level with the new sensor, I am quite happy.
Just got my pixel6, coming from a year on a redmagic flagship. Pixel feels like a downgrade.

I had a Xiaomi mi9t Pro with an in display reader and from what I can remember it's about the same.
The permanent (as far as I can tell) at a glance is in the top left corner so you have to stretch your thumb all the way across the screen vs the older widget which you can place anywhere.oming from a mi9t Pro

Second this. I'm coming from a mi9t Pro and the fingerprint scanner on the Pixel 6 seems to be the same.
Coming from a 3a, my biggest reservation is the size. There are places where my 3a fits well -- certain pockets, in my car when plugged in, while cycling., etc. -- and the added size of the 6 might just be too much. I might have opted for the 5a, but the way they soft-pedaled and restricted the release makes me afraid it will be somewhat of an orphan product. Decisions, decisions...

Care to elaborate? Interested in what you don't like compared to the Redmagic.
