How to permanently increase lockscreen timeout (or trigger by NFC state)? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm using the smart lock/unlock feature on a Android 6 phone. But I can only select 30mins for the unlock-state, and smart unlock is very unrelyable.
My problem is that for using GooglePay, I have to set a lockscreen. But throughout the day I'd prefer having the screen always unlocked. Only in case I active NFC, I want the lockscreen to be active.
So maybe there is a way I could change the 'lock_screen_lock_after_timeout' settings to eg a couple of days (or even endless)?
Thanks

I faced the exact same issue.
I ended up following your suggestion and setting lock_screen_lock_after_timeout to several days.
It works, however the screen doesn't lock at all, which means when you press the power button you you will get straight to the launcher or whatever app was launched. Some people will be OK with it, but personnally I miss the "swipe to unlock" feature.
edit: I just noticed you are on Android 6. In that case, you could use Xposed in conbination with the lockscreen disabler module. It will let you disable the lock screen and trick Google pay into thinking it is enabled. It used to work great on my previous phone. Sadly, Xposed trips Safetynet so Google Pay will most likely refuse to work.

Can I use Xposed without root? Cause I don't want to root my phone just for that feature.
How did you set the property? Do you use any app?
The problem is, I know the property to be set, but I don't know how to achieve that

[Q] WidgetLocker not replacing default lockscreen

I like using WidgetLocker and it's been working generally well until I realized it does not replace the default lockscreen. After my 3 minute screen timeout for my Droid 2 to lock up, I have to unlock using WidgetLocker and then the default lockscreen. Is there a way so that I do not see the default lockscreen itself? BTW, I am using a pattern lock.
I use an app called "no lock" and it works really well.
I'm the dev of WidgetLocker.
The issue you are experiencing is because the standard swipe unlock is tied to the pattern (and pin and password) security on Motorola phones. I haven't yet found a way around this. There's two methods I may use to solve this (possibly both options)
1) Implement security into WidgetLocker.
2) Use root to bypass the intermediate swipe unlock
The advantage of using the system's security is that it's for sure protected at phone boot, it's harder for a third-party-app to guarantee that. The advantage of WidgetLocker's own security is that it wouldn't require root (Then again maybe it would for at-boot protection) and would allow more options.
I don't know when I will have a solution to this, I just know it will NOT be in the next update. If you just purchased and this issue is causing you to not use WidgetLocker email me ([email protected]) with your order number (and mention this thread) and I can cancel/refund the order.
No Lock will disable your security. I don't remember offhand if LockBot Pro just completely bypasses the security or has the same issue, but it doesn't solve the problem.
Thread moved to General.
Alright, thanks guys for the good info. I'll continue to use WidgetLocker just because I like it that much, and I hope a solution can be found some time in the future. Thanks!
So, any updates? I'm now unlock homescreen 3 times ). Widgetlocker+Standart_SlideLocker+Pattern. Temporary removed widgetlocker.

i know it's an old thread and problem, but i thought i'd just throw this idea out there...
my current security solution for Motorola phones (Droid X and Bionic) is to enable PIN security. this means that i do not have to depend on a third party app to lock my phone down at boot (which is difficult as you point out).
while using my phone at home, i temporarily disable the PIN security using Switchpro widget's "Auto ScreenLock" toggle (i think No Lock work too). when my phone is rebooted, the Motorola security is automatically active again, and i have to select Switchpro widget again to temporarily disable the PIN security if i choose, or i can leave it enabled if i'm at work or someplace else where the likelihood of losing my phone is increased.
unfortunately this means i can't really use WidgetLocker because whenever i' have PIN security enabled, i have to deal with the extra swipe of the stock lock screen. yes, the new feature for auto-swiping works and is cool, but it's a bit slow and awkward.
Possible solution: if WidgetLocker included a separate post-boot security PIN feature that was reasonably secure while the phone is on (and without disabling the stock security PIN), then i would be in heaven. this would allow me to leave system security PIN in place (protecting me during boot), i would have to swipe and enter my PIN twice the first time i enter my phone after boot (once for system PIN, once for WidgetLocker), then i could disable the system PIN via Switchpro widget (or No Lock) and only have the WidgetLocker PIN on subsequent attempts to unlock my phone until the next reboot. i used exactly this process on my Droid X with LockBot Pro, but LockBot Pro is not compatible with the Bionic.
is this description even remotely clear? i realize that it might be a confusing sequence for some folks, but it would totally address the issue of security during boot and post-boot while also being able to use this excellent app on Motorola phones.
just a thought...

Hi,
I got the same problem as the threadstarter. Any progesses made? Teslacoil hompage says:
Can I use WidgetLocker with a security lockscreen?
Yes, but it depends on your configuration. Some devices force their own slider, before the security slider. This means WidgetLocker, then system slider, then system security. Generally Samsung and HTC devices don't have this issue, and other devices don't have this issue when using Pattern security rather than PIN or Password. WidgetLocker includes a work around for root users to "auto-swipe" the system slider.

On my Galaxy S2 this workaraound does not auto-slide the systemslider... What's wrong with it?
Have a Atrix 2 here and as PhilDX said, it is kinda slow and awkward. When I have the pattern security active and swipe the Widgetlocker lock, it kinda "flashes" my homescreen then goes to the pattern. Also, even though I have autoswipe enabled, but sometimes the original lockscreen pops up.
Great program though, LOVE that I can put widgets on the lockscreen^^
Hello, My phone is SGS2-GTI9100G model.
Can I ask any method to prevent exit active applications from the task manager?
I have a similar problem

My (unrooted) Samsung Stratosphere's Default lockscreen keeps Activating and overriding WidgetLocker. WidgetLocker doesn't even show up or if it does it pops up after I've already unlocked the phone. I have tried setting WL homehelper as home but default still replaces it, then widgetlocker locks the screen at random while I'm in the middle of something. I also tried no lock which disabled all lockscreens temporarily before stock kicked in and locked the phone. is there a way to fix this without root?

[Q] CM7 and unlock behavior

I recently rooted my TB and installed the latest CM7 ROM. The only thing that bugs me about the ROM is that when I unlock it after being idle for a few minutes, it always returns to the last app or email or whatever was open before it locked. I would like it to always return to the Home Screen, or Desktop each time it is unlocked. So far, I have not been able to find any setting to make this happen. I was hoping someone might be able to give me a hand with it.
Thanks,
Mark
you could always just download "No Lock" from the market & just use the power on/off button to turn the screen on/off. then you wouldn't have to bother with the lock screen at all. i use that no matter if i'm on sense or aosp. always hated the lockscreen b.s.
Go into cm settings, lockscreen, style options, custom starter app. Set that to be the launcher of your default. Adw is the current defaulted launcher unless you have installed another 3rd party.

You can disable the lockscreen in the cm tablet tweaks settings. No need for 3rd party app.
Thanks for the replies guys. I was hoping to keep the unlock screen appearance the same, without adding more options. I like things to look clean and minimal. However, if it's not possible, then I'll just have to deal with it the way it is.
Thanks,
Mark
Did you ever find a solution?
I too am used to returning to the home screen when I turn my phone on, not the last app I used. Seems like it would be a simple setting...

[Q] No lockscreen With VPN in ICS?

Since the ICS update i am forced to have a lockscreen with pin or password when i want to configure a VPN connection. This is absurd and i want to have the option to have no lockscreen. In honeycomb this was not forced. Email is much more sensitive information but that requires no lock screen, so why does a VPN require one? How can i remove the lockscreen? No Lock does not work great, a click on an email notification still shows a lockscreen.
Any other apps that work great on the TF201 and ICS?
Same situation for me.
Yep, it's the same if you want to use Enterprise mode wifis with installed certificates.
Just use a lock gesture
Gesture is not an option. I use it with the dock all the time and if i use a gesture the keyboard wakeup is pretty much useless. I'd rather root and remove the lock completely then be forced to have a lock. On my phone it is not much of a problem because it will be used with a lock screen all the time. A simple gesture is not much different then standaard unlock. On the prime it is very anooying to have a laptop/netbook replacement that needs a gesture on the screen after a few minutes of idle.
Is there a guide on doing this once it is rooted? I hate being forced to have a lock screen because I want to VPN to my house and watch some tv shows...
Some peoples VPN's are important, high security things. Mine is not.
Would love to know if there's ever a solution for this, though my exchange provider just updated security requirements (it's scary that you have to give permission for full remote wipe), so it's probably moot anyway.
It seems there's gotta be a way around this with root though...?

Hy,
I wrote an application that can connect to a PPTP VPN Server
without having to use PIN or Pattern :
PPTP VPN Manager
VPN Widget does the job for me
Awesome didcv!
You know the setting under Developer options "Stay Awake"?
If you check that, of course you'll use more battery, but the screen never actually turns off while docked (unless you close it or hit the lock key/power button), it just cuts the backlight off and ridiculously dims the screen.
Hope this can help you:

This does it brilliantly:

Alternatively you can use SQLlite Editor as I did

Disabling lock screen completely - possible?

Hi guys, I just got a le max pro (x910) but there is no forum for it. Still, I believe it is running the same OS and EUI as Le max 2 (6.0.1 and EUI 5.6.x)
To my question: I hate lock screens so I disable them. If the fingerprint reader were better I'd seriously consider using it to unlock the phone, but it isn't.
My problem now is the "second" lock screen on this phone. Not sure if this is an andorid thing or an EUI thing, since I haven't used android 6.0+ before.
Essentially, I need my home screen to appears when I click the power button. Is that possible? Currently, the "lock screen" that appears after hitting power is a screen with time and camera icon. I don't need this. Can it be disabled SOMEHOW?
Thanks
Hello!
You can do exactly what you want with Lockscreen Disabler in Xposed. It will disable the lockscreen and when you press the power button, the home screen is shown.
As you may know already, you must have a custom recovery, be rooted and have Xposed installed. Then download the module and enjoy

Is this new in Android 6 or an issue with EUI? On my Sony Z ultra with android 5.1.1 disabling the lock screen is right there in the options.
I'm not sure whatever the problem might be. If you said that you need somehow to disable the lockscreen because you can't, I took it for good and I found a solution for you
I've tried to remove it without Xposed and looks like in Settings you don't have this option. Keep in mind that different OEM's do have various options of customization that might not be common.
Hello everyone, I´m new to this, but I just got an LE S3 last week at a really good price! (take into consideration that I live in Mexico) and found the same problem mentioned here, after lots of researching the web and tinkering with setting, antivirus and lock screen apps on play store and factory resetting phone, I got rid of the ``second lock screen´´ wich is very annoying to me, and not to mention all the ads that popped up every time I unlocked the phone, only for it to come back as soon as I connected my phone to charge it! Very Frustating!
And then I noticed, since I had changed the home and lock screen wallpapers to pictures of my family, I noticed three little white dots on the upper left corner of the screen, almost imperceptible, just like the ones on the web browser to deploy a menu!! I hitted it and a warning came up `` do you want to disable Locker?´´ I hitted Disable and that did it! Now I´m able to just go to my home screen with the Finger Print unlock or Pattern unlock.
It was hard to notice the three little dots since I had not changed my wallpapers, I was using the factory galaxy/nebula look alike wallpapers, which are very cool but have scattered white dots all over and tricked my perception of the Locker Icon.
Hopefully this can help some of you to turn off that annoying extra screen.
Cheers!!

Question Fingerprint doesn't work after update MIUI 12.5

Hi
After update MIUI to 12.5, I normally use an application (screen off and lock) to lock the screen, since double tap doesn't work.
Turns out that after the update when I lock the screen through the app, I can't unlock with fingerprint saying that "device locked by admin" and I have to use the pin to unlock.
Anyone knows how to overcome this?
Thanks in advance.

Same here on mi 10T
I have learned not to update MiUI, as the updates rarely fix old bugs and ALWAYS introduce new bugs. Best just sticking with what it came with until a custom ROM comes along and then leave the MiUI crap in the past.
Problem is 3rd app lock method.
Here is solution:

I use NOVA LAUNCHER and I have same problem after 12.5 update. So I changed LOCK method in NOVA and it works.

So easy but still so difficult to figure out...
This was really good to learn about i have to say, thank you very much for your help!
I solved this issue after updating my Mi Note 10 to MIUI 12.5.1 by switching from 3rd party screen lock / turn off app to an official built-in widget simply called "Lock" (go look for it, it should be near the top in Widgets section when you press and hold empty home screen area).
To remove unofficial screen lock app you must first revoke admin rights, of course, otherwise its ghost will keep reappearing after each uninstall attempt.
I simply like stock MIUI Launcher, so using 3rd party ones to solve this was unacceptable for me.
if u guys are just talking about turn off screen without using side button, then there are some options present in miui...
1) [if u r using button navigation] setting> additional setting> button shortcut> turn off screen> choose as ur choice
2) You can also use the quick ball, 'setting> additional setting> quick ball' with quick ball u can use 5 shortcuts like home, menu, lock, clear cache, ss etc
3) the widget option... Just like d789 said
And 'double tap to wake or turn off screen' option is present in the "setting> always on display & lock screen"...
Thanks, I overlooked that buttons shortcuts in Settings can be configured to lock the screen as well (e.g. long hold Back or Home on-screen button).
Yeah, double-tap to wake or turn off screen is also very useful feature I use since day 1.

For me this doesn't work.
I use Nova and always have.
In Nova I go to "Gesture and Inputs" change the "double tap" to "screen lock".
I then choose "Accessibility" and add Nova.
After that if I double click nothing happens. If I remove Nova from accessibility and then double tap it asks me to use device admin or accessibility. I use this way on every single mobile I use but on 12.5.3 I can't pick accessibility as it refuses to do anything when Nova is added.

To everyone who's still facing this issue. This fix helped me and a lot of others as well. Try it out.
It's a rare but annoying glitch in MIUI, you can easily solve it:
1. Go to TWRP -> File Manager
2. Browse to: /data/system
3. Delete file "locksettings.db"
4. Reboot.
You will need to set the lock screen password/pattern again, if you had any before.

Dear friend, my phone is Redmi Note 7 Pro. I had no issues after doing this. It worked perfectly for me. So, as I saw this forum thread before fixing my phone, I just shared the information I knew. Not everyone will get the same result from this, because not everyone has the same phone. So, whether or not you didn't get the expected outcome, you shouldn't tell others to not follow this. It's their choice, not yours. Maybe atleast some of them will find it useful than you did.

This works for my RN10Pro using MIUI13.0.6, change the lockscreen setting in Nova, from admin to accessibility.
I can't double tap to close home screen anymore, but there's still home button in the lowest middle to do that.
The most important thing is, I can directly go to home screen just by touch the fingerprint button.
Thanks for your advice.
If you guys are talking about the fingerprint button then i suggest you just use the gestures that are provided by default of the settings since there nust be a spatial consisting of failure of recognizing the algorithm of identifying user by fingerprint method or they just didn't implement the algorithm that is stored inside the operating system of the phone.
So gestures is the only way to go you can apply gestures by using monetary apps that may give access to other gestures like slide down to view user statistics or usage and slide up to reveal system settings but i couldn't blame the operating system though for having not enough gestures but I'm also. Thankful that they have custom gestures so i wouldn't imply to an app that can be placebo or popular in playstore who knows it can be money cashgrab(just stating the fact that i had to cancel so many subscription on a gesture app)
