Hi All,
I have bought a SO-03E recently.
While trying to download offline Netflix content it turned out that in 4.1.2 there is no ability for the application to download the offline content and it's a feature for later Android OS ( 4.4.2 from the link below)
I don't see the ability to download in the application
https://www.ghacks.net/2016/12/01/he...ndroid-device/
**Current device : SO-03E - CB5A1YNYBX - 1273-3413_R8A - 1268-8243_10.1.E.0.305 - DCM-LTE_10.1.E.0.305
I have tried to unlock bootloader with no luck
While performing *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
I get Bootloader unlock allowed says No
My question :
Can the device be upgraded ?
Any work around for Netflix ?
Every try to upgrade with flashtool in any flavor sgp 312 yields the following error :
ERROR - The bundle does not match the connected device

Hello!
On japanese devices SO-03E bootloader can not be unlocked. So no custom ROMs, kernels, etc.
Update is possible, but not very easy and strightforward.
P.S: Netflix HD won't be available for you, even after update.
Thanks a lot @Rootk1t
my motivation is to upgrade only if I can use Netflix to download offline content ...... ( While I am flying I will be to watch Netflix )
The option for offline content is not supported by the current OS
I think that my old SGP311 used to work with offilne content ( as soon as I will fix it I will update the thread ( My battery is dead)
Do we know what is needed for Netflix to be able to work with offline content ?
See the link below :
https://www.ghacks.net/2016/12/01/here-is-why-you-cant-download-netflix-content-to-your-android-device/
So basically from what I understand nothing will help ??
i have purchased the same Japanese version of sony Xperia Tablet Z. Can you please guide me how can i update it to 5.1.1 lollipop from 4.1.2 jelly bean?

My intention if I wasn't clear enough was which file should be used ?
Z1 ? Z1C ? Z2 ? T2U
As there is no indication for SO -03E I would like to make sure I use the right one before bricking it

@Rootk1t in your tutorial you wrote "If you're on 4.3, install XZDR recovery v.2.8.26"......but i AM ON 4.1.2
Do you by any chance know if it should work on 4.1.2 as well?
What are the risk for Bricking ?
Thx

Well, you can try to install recovery on 4.1.2 as well. If your device becomes unbootable, reinstall 4.1.2 with Flashtool v.0.9.18.6.

Hi, i just have a nx501 too... i already rooted it but how can i install a recovery and which rom can i install on this phone? i cant find anything on google.. can you helpme please?
Root (check) Recovery & ROM (no check)
Greets to all,
I just got this device myself & rooted it yesterday with the Framaroot.apk & Gandalf exploit. It's a very nice phone & takes great photos! (Btw, I sold my Xperia Z Ultra & used the money to buy this phone; the Z Ultra was simply too big, had no flash & screen mirroring was completely unstable). Unfortunately, almost everything out there about this phone is in Chinese; even the recoveries are in Chinese. I found a few pages about a Kitkat 4.4 ROM for this device, but the download is in 3 parts and online surveys must be completed to activate the downloads One of the pages can be found if you search for "Upgrade/Update ZTE Nubia Z5 to 4.4 KitKat" but I think it's likely bogus.
If anyone can find an English recovery or decent ROM for this device, please post & thanks in advance!
Edit: It seems there are ROMS and CWM recovery on the MIUI website (search "ZTE" and separately "recovery" on the English [en] site). I'm downloading a version 5 ROM but may not have time to check it out today.
Thanks bro

Thanks bro, i will try that one too... if you already test it please tell us how about the rom..!!!
You use which? ZTE Z5 MINI? or how do you know what model to download the rom???
waiting on a recovery
Hi cesarguaro,
Unfortunately, the recoveries mentioned on the site are not for Qualcom based devices like our NX501s; therefore, I haven't tried the ROM I found for the Nubia Z5 yet. It's too bad the stock recovery can't be used for backing up the ROM even though it can likely be used to install the ROM (which is too risky without a backup IMO). Have you installed a non-Chinese, usable recovery yet?
As for Miui, if you go to en dot miui dot com, you'll see the downloads link right at the top. Under "Brands" click on the ZTE logo and you're on your way
Hey Guys,
so finaly thank to the Community I was able to root my Z3 Tablet Compact. Sadly with 5.0.2 + Root the "Remote Play" not work anymore. I checked the Forum, but sadly all Threads about are closed.
So is there any update to fix this? Worked well on Android 4.4.4 + Locked Bootloader. (I locked Bootloader on 5.0.2 as well)
best wish,

Uninsall your remoe play first. And google for remoteplayport1.0. 1.APK
That will make u use remote play on rooted lollipop. You can even use LTE to connect back to PS4. It works fine on my rooted lollipop 621.
I've been trying to root this device for a few days now.
The device is running Android 4.2.2 JellyBean.
Tried using One Click Root on it, and it downloads ADB drivers, but never connects.
I know the old ZX1 was able to obtain root, but have had no luck so far with this one.
Thanks in advance.
Just reporting back, I've tried Framaroot, Towelroot, Kingroot APKs with no luck, and One Click Root, and various other One Click solutions for the old NW-ZX1 and other Xperia devices, and all have failed.
From what I know, the ZX1 and Xperia Z2 Tablet used similar kernel, and were able to utilize the same solution.
Any more info would be greatly appreciated.
Any news? Some people rooted zx1 with Vroot, but with zx2 it does not work.
While i was researching about the volume problem,
I found on the Sony Japanese website the firmware update of 1.01 as an exe or dmg, since it is not the original firmware only an update, i doubt it could be used or even could be helpful.
I am not posting any links here to avoid confusion, but anyone who might think that this could be of any help for him to find a solution and is knowledgeable enough to be playing around this area without bricking his device or at least willing to take the risk and responsibility, he could pm me for the link.
i will post it also on xda may be someone could help.
also, i don't want to give any false hope, so don't raise em up.
Still no luck after trying some other methods...
I'd love to root this thing to get rid of all the useless bloatware that came installed on it,
as well as trying to extend the battery life.

No, I haven't found anything that works yet.

Not even Sony willing to help!

There seems to be little or nothing that can be done - and in deprecation asked Sony to support this and they seem recluctant saying nothing meaningful just the usual scripted answers. We all have wonderful music player and as such all is not lost and I certainly will continue to try and get this android player updated.

Did anyone manage to successfully root the Sony zx2 with the root.360.cn or with any other root tool? I own a Sony zx2 that wish to root as well. My problem with the zx2 is that it is not passing hi res signal to my Sony pha-3 if I am not using the Sony stock music app. I tried to download USB audio player pro from the App Store but it says that it isn't compatible with the Walkman. Any input will be appreciated thanks!
Hi for those who want to root their zx2, i did get my zx2 rooted with 360root from http://root.360.cn/index.html
Can you share some of the system apps from it? Or maybe full system dump if possible?
I tried root.360.cn (both from windows and direct on android) it doesn't work unfortunately. Kingoroot doesn't work also. ZX2 EU version
Is anyone able to validate a successful root process yet? I'm seeing some recommendations that have been non-events for most.
Also, discovered http://oss.sony.net/Products/Linux/Audio/NW-ZX2.html today: unfamiliar with ROM development, would this content provide all that's necessary to build a ROM or is it missing things like hardware drivers?
Would love to Android 8.0 deployed to what is a fantastic device (and the last Sony are deploying with Android?).

Hi I just wanted to let everyone know that I managed to unlock the bootloader on my xperia xz 2 using the old adb command prompts when you get your unlock code from the Sony developer website but still struggling to root it. I've heard magisk is 1 method but you'd need to find and download your phones original bootloader image file and patch it I think then flash it. Then back to your pc and install the file magisk downloaded to your magisk manager folder in your phones memory using a adb command prompt
Hello,
I want to Root my Z5 Compact E5823 7.1.1 Nougat 32.4.A.1.54 but I cant find guide with right files for my model.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks!
You can unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP (supported by Sony). Then you just install SuperSU. Note that the DRM keys will be lost when you unlock it, if you havn't backed them up previously.
How do you do that?

It says "updated to 32.4.A.0.160 (7.1.1)." in the post but the OP (and I) have 32.4.A.1.54, will this still work? I don't want to brick my device, I don't have a clue about rooting.
Are there any other options for rooting Z5 Compact E5823 (7.1.1) 32.4.A.1.54 ?

I have been trying to find a method to update the android version on Hisilicon Hi3796 M100 android Set top box which is at present running android 4.4.2. As the android is this old, it doesn't support a good number of apps, from playstore, or by adb. I tried to find a custom rom online, but couldn't find. Is there one? Or is there any way to update the os if there is no official update available?
Moving from Android 4.4.2 to Android 5.0+ is an upgrade not an update.
To upgrade you need a Custom ROM what requires you have to flash a Custom Recovery ( e.g. TWRP ) before. Do you have a 100% matching TWRP available?
Hey,
Thank you for the quick reply. And thank you again for correcting that update-upgrade thing. Will keep it in mind.
And I am sorry I couldn't find a custom ROM for my device online. I am not sure what exactly it means by flashing a custom recovery.
Could you please explain it a little bit... or give some link from where I could find it out?
Thank you.
