Unlocking->insecure boot->root->flash cm10 with amplifier support your Q without apk
!!!!!!THIS IS NOW ALL FIXED AND PROPERLY WORKING BY THESE INSTRUCTIONS HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ALL!!!!!!
Unlocking->insecure boot->root->flash cm10 with amplifier support your Q without
Q apk.
this is a guide I compiled from the following devs that are credited and thanked
below.
Apparently Google did not like that we are using our Q's again and have killed
the servers that host our Nexus Q apk, if you are currently logged into your Q
you will not notice it. If you try logging into another Q or relog into your Q for
the first time. It will not work any more.
I have 3 of these and want to keep the Q community alive, I needed to figure out
as many of you how to access your Q through adb if the app is dead to enable usb
debugging so you can load cheap cast and continue to use your Q.
This will get adb debugging back so you can load a custom recovery and get
cheapcast back running through CyanogenMod.
!!!!You will need a otg cable powered is a good idea these are $10.00 here ->
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To fastboot unlock your device / Credit and thanks to -> fiveipads
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. cmd to platform-tools
2. Reboot to the bootloader -> cover your Q with your hand -> power on nexus Q as
soon as you see red remove your hand -> (will go solid red and you are in
bootloader)
3. Unlock your device* (with fastboot tool) (type) -> fastboot oem unlock
(immediately copy and paste this into tool and hit enter you have only 5 secs) ->
fastboot oem unlock_accept
4.Q will reboot and turn purple etc.
5.Unplug Q and restart in bootloader see #2. (type) -> fastboot getvar unlocked
(this verifies you unlocked your Q->should reply->unlocked:yes)IF NOT DO NOT
PROCEED TILL IT DOES.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Load a unsecure boot image with adb enabled / Credit and thanks to -> ObsidianX
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Download -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1563302&d=1355508721
2.This is a modified boot.img from the factory Nexus Q images that enables adb
debugging on boot in root mode.->Test before you flash!
3.Put the file you download into you platform-tools folder(make sure no other
images have the same name in that folder)
4.Flash the image -> (type in fastboot) -> fastboot flash boot boot-root.img
(image will write should say ok and writing boot etc.)
5.Pull the power on your q and restart the Q
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Load Clockwork Mod Recovery / Credit and thanks to -> Koush
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Download koush's ClockworkMod Recovery.
koush's ClockworkMod Recovery ->
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-steelhead.img
md5: dec2a809a20e8cb236ae092e71d8d5fe
2.Connect the Nexus Q to the computer via USB.
3.Make sure the fastboot binary is in your PATH or that you place the downloaded
image in the same directory as fastboot. (rename the downloaded recovery file
recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-steelhead.img to -> recoveryq.img to make it easy to
type)
4.Open a terminal on your PC and reboot the device into fastboot mode by typing
adb reboot bootloader or by using the hardward -> cover your Q with your hand ->
power on nexus Q as soon as you see red remove your hand -> (will go solid red
and you are in bootloader)
5.Once the device is in fastboot mode, verify your PC sees the device by typing
-> fastboot devices
***If you don't see your device serial number, and instead see "<waiting for
device>", fastboot is not configured properly on your machine. See fastboot
documentation for more info.
6.FLASH ClockworkMod Recovery onto your device (type) -> fastboot flash recovery
recoveryq.img
(should confirm by okay if not do it again till it does)
7.(type) -> fastboot reboot (this will reboot your device to the factory startup
screen) -> (type) adb devices (make sure your device shows up) -> (type) -> adb
reboot recovery (you should be in clockworkMod recovery)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Install Cyanogenmod to your Q through adb on Clockwork Mod / Credit and thanks to Cyanogen mod crew and hharte for amplifier support and Anthony Hopf for updated working zip file.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Download the prebuilt release of CyanogenMod you wish to install.
Here is a build of CM10.1 from repo sync on 6/17/2013 for each of TAS5713 and SPIDF outputs:
Please go easy on the downloads or mirror these files if desired. They are on my private server so bandwidth is limited. *****IF YOU CAN MIRROR THESE LINKS CONTACT ME WITH THE LINK*****
TAS5713 (Audio Amplifier):

MD5SUM: ec26a86a5011cf480a9efb3cee63e000 *cm-10.1-20130617-UNOFFICIAL-steelhead_SPDIF.zip
HDMI: Use stock CM 10.1 nightly build. found here ->http://get.cm/?device=steelhead
Note: If, after installing, you don't have any sound, then install gapps and download "Audio Manager" from the Play Store. Run Audio Manager and select the "Mute" profile, and then select the "Loud" profile.
2.Rename your cm10 file to -> cm10.zip (this will make it easier to type later)
3.Move your cm10.zip to your platform-tools folder again like you did the recoveryq.img file
4.To install boot into recovery mode (type) -> fastboot boot recovery.img (or if you are still at recovery ignore this)
5.When Q has reached recovery mode, push the cm10.zip to /sdcard using adb, (type) -> adb push cm10.zip /sdcard/
6.To push gapps (if desired download here -> http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip md5SUM: b7e53e96e1c8b1a1c4865bf29418c8e0 and rename to gapps.zip and move to platform-tools folder)(type) -> adb push gapps.zip /sdcard/
7.From within recovery, "install zip from sdcard" and browse to cm10.zip file After this has installed, it is a good idea to wipe data and cache.
8.Then install gapps (if desired) by again choosing "install zip from sdcard" and choosing the gapps.zip file.
9.If cm10.1 gets stuck in a boot loop, then you probably forgot to wipe. Reboot the Q back into fastboot as follows:
Unplug power for Nexus Q and wait about 10 seconds.
Plug Q back in.
When the LED lights up on the top of the Q, cover it with your hand until the LED ring turns red. This has to be done in less than one second. If you miss it, try again.
As soon as the ring is RED, remove your hand, and the Q should be in fastboot mode.
10.Now, you can "fastboot -w" to wipe, or "fastboot boot recovery.img" to boot into recovery and wipe using the menu
OR YOU CAN INSTALL THIS ICS BASED ROM BASED ON THE STOCK IMAGE HERE->
http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...=Download it&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13777850981938
YOU MUST USE ICS BASED GAPPS.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Install Cheapcast to q with auto boot option / credit and thanks to -> Sebastian Mauer and other devs involved (YOU NOW NEED THE OTG CABLE AND A MOUSE)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Start your q get the otg cable plug it in wait for the Q to boot all the way the plug the mouse into the otg cable it should work.
2.+Sebastian Mauer's CheapCast allows an Android device to act as a target for #chromecast enabled applications. Android device == Nexus Q; chromecast enabled application == +Google Play Music.
3.Go to the asop brower on the Q and go to this link -> http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23060877489999380
4.Download the apk do not use the store version at this time it is broken.
5.Using a file explorer find and open the apk it will be in the downloads folder. (you may need to authorize installing 3rd party apps in the security menu) once installed open cheapcast tick enable on startup and start sevices button. Now reboot your Q using a reboot button apk from the store.
6.Now your Q will be recognized as a target for any Chromecast enabled app upon startup, like Google Play Music it will also work on youtube as I have verified this, however if using the steelhead internal amp zip it will not output sound except to the internal amp. Use your device (I'm using my S4 GPE) to start and enjoy!
7.If for some reason the apk stops working on boot you may need to reinstall it and restart it for on boot starting. Your Q will now be on all day long so unplug it when not using it. until someoen makes a remote turn off apk or something.
Edit: All the XDA folks who put up a bounty? Please donate to Sebastian - grab the CheapCast app and hit the donate button!
______________________________________________________________________________
(If your Q boots up and the resolution looks wrong you will need to use a different tv or monitor ot happened to me)
I hope this help anyone like me who thought everything on this forums was way to hard to find and put together, this is all tested and is done how I typed it in.
If you mess it up DO NOT COME TO ME CRYING!
If I helped you, click my thanks button and send your donations to all the devs mentioned above, also donate to cheap cast to make it stay around.
Obviously Google does not want us to keep using our Q balls so make sure we keep devs working for us here by posting and showing interest.
Thanks- Ian
OTG cable
At what point did you need an OTG cable? Looks like you did all this via PC? Thanks so much!!!! I have two of them, both had USB debugging enabled until I did factory resets on them this morning. <sigh> The folks at Google were very nice and excruciatingly unhelpful when I called them about it this afternoon. But... apparently a "Nexus Q expert" will get back to me very soon, and I'm sure the response will be the standard Google canned response regarding the Q.
Still trying to figure out how to authorize adb debugging with only 1 usb port please someone explain
Figured it out
The TAS5713 build wont download properly for me, i have tried several times and it keeps downloading as a 121MB file rather than the 148MB that the post states, can someone post a working build?
Thankyou for the guide, can i suggest you add a note about using adb while in CWM, i had to use the universal naked drivers to get the Q to appear in adb devices

im hosting the rom Anthony uploaded in this g+ post. To the best of my knowledge it is the TAS5713 CM10.1 rom that was originally modified by hharte. Ill keep it up for the foreseeable future. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING.

EVERYTHING DEPENDS ON THE ROM INSTALLED.
i WOULD USE THE SINGULARITY PROJECT ROM AS IT REMAINS ALL INTACT.
5.Flash the image -> (type in fastboot) -> fastboot flash boot-root.img
Should be: fastboot flash boot boot-root.img

Once this rom is installed how does one get past the nexus q welcome screen?
I still can't believe that CM didn't integrate the amp functionally in their ROM..

Remove or rename AtHomeThemeService.apk, HubBroker.apk and Visualizer.apk from v1.0.2 and flash it. This will remove the stock Q services/frontend without breaking the audio output.
Thanks for the great guide, I just bought my Q a few days ago. I will definitely try this out. It is good to know, that the community is still alive.

Hi there fellows,
So I was having trouble installing recovery on my F120K updated to V30D because the second init recovery does not work in that version. So I just took those already cracked bootloader.img and recovery.img from "crackbootloader and install cwm.zip" and made a small utility you can run on your windows PC to install custom recovery on your phone.
First of all use this Framaroot.apk to root your device. Use the Gandalf patch. After rooting restart your phone and open SuperSU at least once and if it asks update the su binary.
After doing that enable USB Debugging from Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging
Now download cwm_ics_jb_F120.zip and extract it somewhere. Then open RunMe.bat and keep an eye on your phone. When it asks Allow the ADB super user permissions.
After installing cracked bootloader and recovery your phone will automatically reboot into recovery.
You can boot into recovery by pressing Volume UP + Volume Down + Power
Note: All credits go to the original developer who made the cracked bootlader and recovery in "crackbootloader and install cwm.zip" I just made a utility to install them nothing more.
Root: Framaroot.apk
Recovery: cwm_ics_jb_F120.zip
Hi. New to this device. Just to check has anyone successfully root this device on the Marshmallow 6.0?
I did read around for a solution but only saw the lollipop-root-method.
Thanks in advance!

I can't figure out root on 6.0.1 either. I just upgraded from rooted 5.0.1 to 6.0.1 using TWRP on WW version of firmware with Padfone S. I immediately flashed SuperSU from TWRP after flashing the update, but the update still broke root. Tried both Kingroot APK and Kingoroot APK + PC without success.
Thanks for that update martingriffis! At least we know that didn't work.
Anyone else has any other solution?

Is here anybody who has coincidentally the TWRP 2.8.7.8. still on his PC and cand send it per mail??
Asus Padfone S Marshmallow Rooted *Working*
If you like me 'get the device and direct update to latest MM', then you need to do something like this.
First you need the device and a computer.
Next is get all files from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62352276&postcount=2 and skip the old supersu and use the new version here https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip
After that enter the device into fastboot mode (Turn on while hold vol up and it will vibrate once and stuck at Asus logo)
Connect the usb to computer, open adb (extract fastboot and adb.rar to new folder, inside it right-click on empty place while holding [Shift] on keyboard, and see for 'Open command window here')
Write first 'fastboot devices' (without quote) to check if the computer detect your device with '(font+number) fastboot' in cmd.
If is working, then you can go to the next step. If not maybe need to get some adb driver to make it working.
Next is extract twrp_2.8.7.0.rar into the adb folder, make sure it is .img file.
At cmd, write 'fastboot flash recovery twrp_2.8.7.0.img' and press enter. If you see some line like this 'remote: can't flash unsigned image' is actually working.
After that write 'fastboot reboot' and press vol down so the device will immediately enter the recovery mode. If working the device will enter TWRP perfectly (opening sometime it will say something about 'read-only', just press 'Back' to get the actual TWRP menu) but if the device just straight boot normally, you need to do the flash recovery back because it failed.
At TWRP menu choose mount, and put some CrowLock_RC3.zip and SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip from your computer to your device folder.
Press back at TWRP and flash the CrowLock_RC3.zip to unlock bootloader first (if you do not see this file, just press 'storage...' at top and choose the actual storage). After done you need to reboot the device and enter fastboot mode again (If you want to make sure your device still working, can just reboot it normally but do back fastboot mode again after that)
Next is flash the old recovery asus_t00n_twrp_2_7_1_1.img. Same step as before. After your reboot the device and enter recovery mode, your screen device will go to black. Actually is working, you just need to press power on once or twice to make the TWRP screen visible.
Next is flash the SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip just like how you flash the CrowLock_RC3.zip before. You can wipe dalvik/cache after that or maybe not, then reboot. Your device will bootloop once and after that you can enjoy your device with root working.
To make sure your device have rooted, use Root Checker. For the first time, supersu will make a long time to prompt it but after that it should working normally like the previous day you use.
Has to be SuperSu 2.79, any higher won't work.
After finished instal twrp 2.7.1.1 and sucess i try to sigin twrp again and My screen change black and i press power once or twice but keep black no change
Can you help me..thx
If your have linux, you can install android-tools, then use fastboot from there.

Oops, I forgot that step ...
@wric01 is it true then? Thou when im download the SuperSU.zip that time its still the latest so i thought any latest version should be working.
@Paidi86 just make sure you follow the tutorial correctly.
@xdej well, cuz for smartphone android device, im actually too prefer with 'flash' instead 'install', well for me its still the same meaning.
I got root with my personnal open-source files:
Code:
# /system/bin/id
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root), context=u:r:init:s0
How I got there:
(1) install Termux from Google Play
(2) in /data/data/com.termux/files/home, put "CrowLock_RC3.zip" and "SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip".
(3) Install version v19 (will be uploaded soon) of https://sourceforge.net/p/gentooandroid/wiki/InstallingInstructions/ using EPREFIX=/data/data/com.termux/usrex.spartacuside/gentoo_armv6l and PLACE_LD=/data/data/com.symli/n/3 following all instructions (that took me half a day, this installs Gentoo on your phone; if you want I can make an easier way). Don't add any package with emerge, this is not needed at this point.
(4) Download twrp_2.8.7.0.rar from https://mega.nz/#!GwRRBBjT!8ms39GK62...aKA816Cg4lsQr0
checksums with sha1sum:
8dc6b577d04fbd05ff31d3dedca7cf51d7bfef22 twrp_2.8.7.0.img
1d784bde5339054ed27ff38fb17e1368f95d6dcb twrp_2.8.7.0.rar
(5) Connect it to a computer, then power Off the phone, keep "vol up" button pressed before it switches off.
(6) If you did not connect it to a computer, press "power" button
(7) the phone powers on, vibrate a bit, you can release the buttons "power" and "vol up".
(8) you now need another computer. If it is a linux computer, install package android-tools , then run, as root: fastboot flash recovery twrp_2.8.7.0.img ; if it is a windows computer, issue the equivalent instruction with fastboot.exe downloaded from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62352276&postcount=2 (checksums with sha1sum:
e01c22dc34e915bca88de2c73966b807b2b39f26 fastboot.exe
eb9ce15bebcfb63a5cb4c24913aba76c8d319287 fastboot_and_adb.rar) ; whether you have a mac or no, also download fastboot from https://wiki.lineageos.org/adb_fastboot_guide.html You can ignore the erro "remote: can't flash unsigned image' is actually working": it nevertheless did works.
(9) keep "vol down" pressed on the phone.
(10) on linux, execute: fastboot reboot ; on windows, fastboot.exe reboot I guess
(11) after it vibrates, you can now release "vol down". select "enter recovery mode", then validate with the power button. The phone boots twrp, which is a sort of equivalent of init=/bin/sh on linux.
(12) in twrp, select "keep read-only", then use "install", then select "/data/data/com.termux/files/home/CrowLock_RC3.zip", validate, then repeat steps (5) to (11).
(13) in twrp, select "keep read-only", then use "install", then select "/data/data/com.termux/files/home/SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip", validate, then repeat steps (5) to (11) (if you skips entirely step (13), the phone will not be able to boot).
(14) in twrp, select "advanced", then "terminal command", then select directory /data/data/com.termux/usrex.spartacuside/gentoo_armv6l/usr/local/bin as working directory
(15) execute: mount /system
(16) execute: mv /system/bin/app_process32 /system/bin/app_process.wrapped (you will first need to use backspace to remove characters of previous command, "mount /system")
(17) execute: cp app_process_wrapper /system/bin/app_process32
(18) execute: chgrp shell /system/bin/app_process32
(19) execute: umount /system
(20) use back button three times, and select reboot, then select system.
(21) it should boot normally. It did on my asus padfone S and on my asus padfone S+ (the only padfone with 3GB of RAM).
(22) open tmux, inside it, execute:
Code:
ssh -p 64000 [email protected]
(23) you will be asked the root password that you used at step (2)
if you want to add packages, remember to use
Code:
ssh -p 64000 [email protected]
before using Gentoo's installer:
Code:
PORTAGE_BINHOST=http://sourceforge.net/projects/gentooandroid/files/packages/packages emerge --autounmask-write -GKv firefox

You can replace step (2) with any other provider of sshd binary:
(2bis) ignore step (2),
(2ter) put any binary you want to be executed with selinux context u:r:init:s0 at /data/data/com.termux/usrex.spartacuside/gentoo_armv6l/usr/local/bin/sshd_root
(2quater) download app_process_wrapper binary
/data/data/com.termux/usrex.spartacuside/gentoo_armv6l/usr/local/bin/app_process_wrapper from the attachment in this message
Then proceed from step (3) onwards.
This may work for other phones supported by twrp, I did nothing asus-specific.
No need to install old recovery. just fastboot your device (power on and vol up) and then do `.fastboot boot asus_t00n_twrp_2_7_1_1.img` it'll boot the old recovery.
Make sure to put supersu in device memory, not sdcard.
The method you give is much simple then the rest. Just want to know if the custom recovery mode is able to enter without unlocked bootloader?
Hello everybody ,
I need some tricks/advices and I think you guys can help me .
My old and outdated smartphone Android 4.1 is down, so I've bought a brand new Xiaomi Redmi 6A (Android 8 .1).
Anyway, I'm going nuts since few days, trying to root my device...... I've already found some topics online dealing with that issue..... already tested a lot(!)...... but no one works!! :crying:
So I just wonder if someone have already succeded in it? Does anyone have the perfect trick to do it, and especially working links if it requires to download some tools (twrp, magisk, and so on)?
Thanks a lot guys, any help would be appreciated!
root example N°1:
- TWRP recovery is required to Root Redmi 6A without PC, You can Follow Our guide to Install TWRP recovery on Any Android Device without PC: got it from the PlayStore, and install OK
- First of all Get Supersu to Root Your Redmi 6a: OK
- Now paste the Supersu.zip fle in your device’s memory: OK

my sister is very grateful
Thank you very much.
What build date has this rom? Sec. patches?
Can you please post your local manifest?
Very interesting guide, unfortunately the links don't work...
Is it possible to restore them?
Tanks. Max
I think its first guide how to do it because every other guides were for TB2-X30F but not for TB2-X30L.
I have only found lineage os for x30l, can someone please link lineage (Android 7) for x30f?
The difference between L and F is that L is the sim card variant. Ive read several people getting "insert sim card" when installing L on a F tablet. So I dont want messages like this.
Thanks for this tutorial. It was possible, to upgrade this old Tablet.
Do you know, if there is anything newer version for our Lenovo?

The tablet can also run on LineageOS 16 which is Android 9.
As I saw that the guys in the Russian 4PDA-Forum had been able to create a LiOS16, I was able to make some adjustments and compile a ROM with most recent security patches which now runs on my good old TB2-X30L / TAB2 A10-30:

Hallo,
I have installed LiOS14-UNOFFICIAL-TB2-X30L.zip. The installation was without problems.
But I am having problem with WiFi - problem of MAC 02:00:00:00:00:00. I have tried a lots of tips but nothig worked. Two times I was succesfull to set some MAC, but always, after while, it was gone. No able to reproduce to set.
Is it really so difficult to set somehow the MAC addres for the WiFi?
As I understand the setting of the MAC differs between different releases of OS. Does anybody know how it work in this release? It should by known where this relaese expects the MAC setting. Am I right?
1. temporary succes: Setting MAC in system/etc/firmware/wlan/qca_cld/wlan_mac.bin (I think. Its longer time ago and there was more attempts). It lasted for few months. It is not mine device so I don't know how it was handled.
2. temporary succes: I copied system/etc/firmware/wlan dir to system/vendor/firmware/wlan. I did it based on how it is in Samsung Galaxy S4 mini with Lineage 16. It worked. After restart I had to swith off and on the airplane mode to set MAC. After few attempts it was gone. No able to reproduce to set the MAC.
I am not Linux expert
