I got a message on my Pocophone to update my system. I did so and after that I am no longer able to access Internet. I have tried removing the network and re setting it up; I have rebooted the phone multiple times; I have restarted the router etc. Nothing has worked.
I have a connection but no Internet. I have made a backup of the phone and have transfered the files to my PC. I am about to do a reset op the phone back to factory defaults, but before I do that, perhapse soneone can suggest another method?
The phone now shows Android version 9 PKQ1 180729 001
MIUI version MIUI Global 10.11 stable 10.1.3.0(PEJMIFI)
Please help!

Thank you for your reply. I will have to reset my phone I suppose, but that will mean a lot of work getting my apps back like I want them.
I was hoping for a simpler method. On a PC you can uninstall the adapter and Windows will take care of installing a new version. I tried this on my phone but had no success.
Had the same issue upgrading to 10.1.3.0, I basically tried two things:
1) Enable both SIM and test
2) Enable "Dual 4G - Allow 4G connectivity for both SIM slots.
I had the same problem with the new update..
I tried this and it worked..
What worked is turning on the 2nd simcard..
You might turned off your second simcard
That is what made the internet offline

I have turned on Dual 4G. I rebooted the Pocophone and there is no effect. Still no Internet.
I cannot find where to turn on the second SIM card. My Pocophone F1 only shows one SIM card. I have moved the SIM from slot2 to slot 1 but can only see one SIM card in whichever slot my SIM is placed in.
Try to borrow some simcard or whatever put it on 2nd simcard slot.. Turn on both simcard.. It worked on me

Unfortunately I only have a "normal" (latge) SIM card available, not a "nano" (small) one. I don`t think than a normal SIM fits in the slot. If I detach the nano from the normal I will not be able to use the normal one again.
PS Do you know what the SIM cards have to to do with WiFi? I was able to use WiFi previously without any SIM cards in the phone. It does not seem logical that the SIM cards have influence on WiFi.
Thanks again for your suggestions

Just for testing try to set dns manually.. Change the ip settings to manual instead of dhcp and set the ip and dns manually.. You can try 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 for dns.
To set static ip press the little icon beside your WiFi network name then change the ip settings from dhcp to static.

Before the system update I could access the settings for DHCP & DNS as welle as IP address. Now I cannot get to any of them.
When I go to settings/WiFi/ Long press on the connection, I get the Share WiFi network QR code comming up.
Advanced settings only shows my MAC & IP address. On the Manage saved networks display I can only delete the network, nothing else.
Don't press on the network name.. Press this little icon beside it to access the ip settings

Thanks for the images.
No way with the very tip of my finger, had to use a rubber tipped pointer to access the network details. (Pity I can't change the sensitivity of the touch screen!)
Changed from my original Static IP & DNS (8.8.8.8 // 8.8.4.4) to DHCP and did a reboot ==>> No difference.
(Auto connct is on, but on the WiFi display it says "Won't automatically connect")
I think there is someting seriously wrong here! Perhaps I should just cut my losses and reset to factory settings.

SOLVED!!!!
One last try before a reset ==>> All I did was change the static IP value ! (Note, changing the static IP to DHCP did not work). It was 192.168.0.100 & I changed it to 192.168.0.109.
192.168.0.100 is a reserved IP address in my router, 192.168.0.109 is not (yet)
So was it a corruption op the original IP address??? Or because it was a reserved IP address??? (I did reset the router before just to make sure). I am about to reserve 109 in the router and see what happens.
Thanks again for your suggestions above.
i have connection...but i dont get internet....and i am not able do my works...i bougjt this phone so recently...and i am trappped now...pkease help me out...i took this phone to mi service center.. they factory reseted and made some software reset and that helped me two days to get good internet but after two days i got this problem again....no i use internet by putting my jio sim in a router and because of taht i cant make normal calls. Please help me out...i dont know what to do ..
Just enable roaming services and insert sim correctly. Wifi not a problem I think. If wifi shows no internet means try forgot network option to re-enter the password. None of this work. Go to Sim network office get new one at free of cost.

Hmm are you typing with auto-correction on?
If you mean WPA2-PSK (WPA2 with password), then I can confirm that this works.
I have a similar issue with my 'O2' router (rebranded Thompson 585 V7) and have WPA+WPA2 (WPA-PSK Encryption) setup.
All devices in my home (laptops & Ipod Touch's) have no problems, but my new Hero continually fails to get an IP address. Seems to connect OK but then continualy cycles therough 'Obtaining address'... 'failed'.... 'Obtaining address'!
It did successfully connect once for about 20 mins, but after a phone off/on, has gone back to failing.
I'll experiment further, but may have to return the device
Regards,
Glenn

I'm still waiting for my hero, so I might be wrong. But according to the manual, the hero can only handle WEP encryption on WiFi. WPA/WPA2 are not supported. I think, for the hero to work on WiFi, you must change the encryption on your router either to WEP or to unsecure.

I tried WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK with my Hero and they definitely work. Sorry, mate ;-)
If the OP wants some help he needs to post some useful data about his setup and what works and what does not work.
I can confirm it works for wpa2-psk and PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2
Wi-FI is not working with secure network
Hi
I had same problem with BT Home Hub2 all i did was a soft rest and it worked and had no more problems so try soft resetting you routor
Well, as posted earlier, despite several hours of every possible combination of settings and factory resets, I can't get my Hero to use my WiFi (WPA+WPA2, WPA-PSK Encryption).
I have seven other devices that have no problems at all (I configured them all), so I'm assuming it's an issue with the Hero. Therefore, it's going back to it's supplier.

Glenn

Yep it may well be a faulty one if its from a store try get them to test it if they can if not the get the new one home and try again you might also wont to try it on someone else wifi see if it works on theres. Also it might be that the amount of device conected to it may be causing a problem on first time setup, you could try it on its own then let other device connect to route worth a try
You should bear in mind that sometimes certain devices just don't get on. Someone posted here earlier with a similar issue, and they found changing their router from the Orange supplied box to another one "fixed" their issue.
Regards,
Dave
I found problems connecting my Hero to our Belkin N1 Vision ADSL Modem/Router using WPA2-Personal.
In the end it turned out that re-enabling the option to broadcast the SSID solved the problem. For some reason creating a connection manually to a network which does not brodcast caused the issue for me.

Ian

So there is a generic advice, run your wifi in a standard-compliant mode. Broadcast SSID and turn off all the vendor-specific "turbo mode" and "extra-long/short" packets crap.
Problem with wpa2 enterprise
I am not able to connect to wifi at work.
We use wpa2-enterprise with PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2 and broadcast SSID.
Hero detects wifi network with incorrect security. It displays: "(network SSID) secured with WEP". When I tap on it it asks for WEP hex key...
I tried to add wpa2-enterprise network manually. It says "not in the range" and keeps offering me the above one with wrong security...
any ideas?
wifi works fine on other phones
Attention!!! I found a fix for getting wrong IP using your router!!!This should help you if internet worked at first day on phone or sometimes works and sometimes not after reconects. This thread i created is about my routers not working with SG3 and other devices. Router fails to assign right IP for my SG3. Example: 192.168.0.100-199(last digit from 100 to 199) should be IP in that range but phone aquires 192.168.1.6 or 192.168.1.8 and it can't get internet acces! I could connect but not surf the internet. To make device get always same IP and most importantly get GOOD IP wich would not be broken and you could surf internet. You just need to reserve IP in router's network settings. This fixed my problem instantly!!!
Thank me if it worked for you!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything below is history!!
Pure stock, not rooted SG3 international version.
I have strange wifi problem. We have 2 routers. One is main(dlink) it was working fine for 5 days and sudenly my SG3 can't connect to internet. I saw that my SG3 is aquiring wrong IP 192.168.1.8 instead of IP192.168.0.(range of 99- 199) so it won't get connected to internet, but connection to router is good. Tried 2nd(linksys) not main router and it works, i can connect to internet (aquires right IP 192.168.0.138) something like that in right range from 99 to 199. First tried wifi fixers. Didn't work. Then tried factory reset didn't help too. Then hard reset from recovery with data wipe ( correct me if that isn't hard reset). That helped, but not 100%. Now i can connect. To main (dlink) router with right IP IP192.168.0.(range of 99- 199) and internet works, but tried with 2nd(linksys) and now problem has transfered to that 2nd router. I only can ask you. Why? What socery is this? Maybe custom rom i install from stock would fix this. Or i need to fix my problem without roming first? Strange.

Update: i lol right now. I went with my SG3 to googleplay via (main dlink router) downloaded angry birds seasons to see download speed. Speed was okay, played few mins. Tried to go to store again. Internet was gone. Internet works fine on my pc but on phone throught wifi not. And changed IP from 192.68.0.(last digit range 99 - 199 ) to 192.68.1.8. Now both routers have 192.68.1.8 IP as i connect to them with my SG3. Connection is strong but internet does not work, because of that freaky IP. I don't imagine how to fix this. My only thought is to flash my SG3 to custom ROM, because other devices works fine with these 2 routers.
So i flashed custom rom and it worked for a while. I guess because i did data wipe/factory reset. I thought i have solved the problem. Recently i installed FoxHound Rom wich is absolutely briliant. Then getting started app asked me to find wifi network. I sat near my router and... it again aquired wrong IP --->>> 192.168.1.8 <<<--- INSTEAD of 192.168.0.( from range 99 to 199). I i don't know what to do next! HELP ME PLEASE! :/
Our other device Galaxy Note works fine as ipad works fine too with those 2 routers.. But not SG3. Arrggh..

He says:
"Everything connects to the router but getting internet working is only accomplished by manually changing the settings to those described above."
Maybe that's because my SG3 can act as modem too? Can galaxy note 4.0.4 act as modem or iphone4?
Unfortunately problem back again. Browsed internet for few min and got wrong IP as i came 3rd time to connect to wifi dlin router. Then i tried another router linksys and got instantly bad IP by connecting to it too. What to do now?!? It's definitely something wrong with my SG3. Do i need to reflash to original, reset counter and take it to warranty post?
Or maybe there is else i can do? Help!

why dont you use the [1 to 99] host byte range? I know range doesnt really matter but if your phone wants to connect to the lower part, why not change that? Plus, did you try giving your phone a static IP address? thats the first thing I would do
I tried doing static IP on my phone and I think I did it wrong. Now I have flashed again I didn't connect to my main dlink router firstly after I flashed new rom, instead I connected to 2nd Linksys. Downloaded 300mb game and few more apps from googleplay, installed, restarted, reconnected and it still works. Will report later how it's going.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
All those few days i was connected to 2nd linksys router. So it worked flawlessly until today when i tried to connect to main router dlink. First time i connected today it worked fine. Second time i got that EPIC FAIL IP 192.168.1.6 now. What the F***?! I resetted that router like 5 times to zero and reentered ips. All other devices works fine with it. Why not my SG3?!?! And my computer threw strange internet connection error but it wasn't affected by it. Internet works on my computer as it should. Error was about double ip. It said that other computer in the same network had the same ip. But it works fine after that error. I'm carring my SG3 to warranty post. I don't know any other options.
Edit: After 5 min tried to connect. It works now again just by reconnecting. Previously it didn't work that way. If it stuck, it was always stuck with that ip even if i did "'forget network" then "wifi off" then phone restart and wait some time. It could only work for some time if i did hard reset. Will see what happens next.
After another 5 min i tried reconecting to 2nd linksys router and now it has wrong ip 192.168.1.6 (not 8 at the end). But i get good in on main dlink router now! So main working and 2nd - not. Wtf... So this problem isn't caused by main router dlink. I now really believe that my SG3 has something wrong. I i will lose my connection again (can connect, but no internet), i will take phone to service.

if you somehow get your phone to connect to the internet again. Just go to the router's configuration window and increase the lease time to max (say 1000hours). That way, your device will get the same IP for at least 1000hours

What's point of doing this if i go to other place and same thing happens. I will increase time there too or smth? I need to fix roots of the problem. Other devices works fine, but not SG3. Do not know.. Will installs few new roms and take it to service. Internet works now with main Dlink router but no linksys (other connected after main). I first thought it can be main router only. I thought when main locks with bad ip so other router gets bad ip too, but i was wrong. So no point in fixing routers, because if i go to anywhere else and there my SG3 lock with bad ip what then i should do? That's the point
This time i tried onother samsung galaxy s3 wich is not mine. Gues what. It bugged the same way. LOL. But somehow unbugged to correct ip after 5min when i did reconnect on that phone. Same thing happenned to mine with new rom. I jst installed new rom on mine and instantly as tried connecting got wrong ip again. But after 5mins~ turned off wifi and back on and it started to work again. Same s*it with both SGS3. I gues that's samsung fail with wifi. Wich cause with some routers to work wrong. And again all other devices have no problems with these router wich have SGS3s. I think i will have to live with it or buy other router.

I am having wifi problems with SG3. Can you please explain what you mean by reversing IP in router's network settings?
Example: 192.168.????
Thanks, I hope someone sees this I know this is an old thread.
Hi
I have neat rom (latest) and siyah kernel (latest) installed. My facebook app does not work over WIFI (i can login and can see a circle moving, nothing happens). I have tried to re-install the app multiple times, also deleted cache and deleted dalvik etc, nothing works.
However the app works perfectly fine over 3g.
I have also tried to chnage the DNS of my router to 8.8.8.8 and also tried using open DNS, no good~ :fingers-crossed:
Can anyone suggest me what can i do. I am having the same issue with my wife's GNEX.
I have also tried to reset my modem and router does n ot help either!!

I am sorry but how can i do advance restore?
UPDATE: I wiped data, format system, completely reinstalled everything and did not restore anything. Still Facebook APP does not work on WIFI. I reset my WIFI settings, reset my router still does not work. The facebook works fine using a browser on PC and the browser on my phone. I am not sure whats wrong. I think it is something to do with ports etc on WIFI.
I am stuck!
Edit: When i try to log in to the facebook app using the WIFI i also get, sign in failed , try single sign in method. I know i can use another facebook app but i am wondering whats wrong with the default FB app!

This is exactly my problem and tried all the things you have too, totally at a loss!
I changed the router MTU from 1492 to 1100, the FB worked for 5 minutes and then again it is stuck!
Has anyone able to get a solution so that my apps (facebook) starts working overWIFI?
I've got here some possiblity's, these possibilty's are about the network aspect of your wireless.
Check your router's firewall (Should be turned off)
Check QoS setting on your router (turn it off)
DNS flush your router
Disable WMM in wireless settings of your router
Disble GI in wireless settings of your router
Restart your router
If you need some support contact me on Skype

Hi
Thanks for the support. I tried first 3 steps, didn't work. I am unable to find Gi and wmm settings on my router. Also, will disabling qos and firewall harm my network speed/security in any way?

Update
Of late i Have noticed that a couple of more apps are not working over WIFI. Now I am sure there is something wrong with my router settings. I am puzzled as i do not know what changed all of a sudden.
Sent from a better Galaxy designed for humans!
I have something a little similar - my Play Store updates and app downloads rarely work under wifi but work just fine on phone connection. I'm almost sure it is MTU settings - I changed ISP recently to Optus and noticed a couple of issues. I diagnosed MTU's being incorrect, adjusted the modem to max, then checked and adjusted each PC and the access flies nicely now.
However, although I can adjust the MTU on my S3 using terminal emulator I cannot get the setting to stick - restart the phone OR even don';t use it for a while and the MTU reverts to 1500 - it needs to be 1492. When it is on 1492 all my updates etc work but next time I try to use the phone they hang because MTU is back to 1500 on my wlan0 link.
Anyone have advice on how to reset the MTU and make it stay that way?
NOTE: To find the optimum MTU for your network connection, do this on an attached PC (ethernet or wireless)
Start a command prompt with elevation (right click and choose Run As Administrator)
netsh interface ipv4 show subinterface
(This shows current MTU settings - note you need to check your modem for settings there)
ping www.google.com –f –l 1500 (calc for mtu is last successful ping +28)
Step down the figure by 20 for each time until you get a successful ping response, then work your way back up until you know the value for the highest successful ping. Add 28 to that figure. then run one or more of the commands below depending on which connections you use. e.g. my highest was 1464, so +28 = 1492
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=1492 store=persistent
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Local Area Connection" mtu=1492 store=persistent
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Bluetooth Network Connection" mtu=1492 store=persistent
Note I am not sure if you can simply look at your modem MTU and do the opposite calculation - e.g. my modem is on 1500 so I might have been able to work out my highest MTU from that.
Hey Guys.
Recently my WiFi symbol in the notification tray turned grey and didn't go blue again.
I've noticed that when the symbol is GREY, I'm not able to access Facebook (through it's main App),it shows "Updating" only.
But to my surprise, the net works fine in the Browser ( inbuilt browser)
After analyzing the problem, I found that whenever I turned my Laptop on, the WiFi signal goes Grey..
And when I switch it off, it turns blue.
On further investigation, I came to know that both the devices (laptop and phone) have different IP's
Plus, another android device works well with the laptop being on.
I'm using Xolo Q600
Android 4.2.1
*no root, nothing...I'm amateur*
WiFi Router NetGear N150
Any help will be thankful.
Lakshya.
Have you tried reseting your modem? or forgetting the wifi net with both devices and set up the connection again?
Hope this helps

didn't u set any security on IP, mac on ur wifi router?
(I suggest first restart wifi router & then check its setting)
&
if router restarting not solve ur problem then try another wifi router and if ur phone connect and work properly then problem was with ur router if NOT so u need to check phone.
best way to understand it s hardware fault or not is to repair firmware of phone by PC companion.

have also a wifi issue.
first time ive noticed, i kept device loading during the night, plugged it off, then wanted to start wifi.
wasnt able to start it, wether thru shortcut, nor thru the directly switch on button in connections.
after i rebooted system, it was running again.today same happened again, but without loading,
after turning it maybe 5-10 on and off, i wasnt able to turn it on again,...after reboot, it worked fine again.
so far i havnt found a single hint or solution to fix this annoying issue.
thx in advance
Nope, rebooted the router, repaired the firmware on the Z2 still nothing

try using PC Companion to fix your device
(or flash a FTF with flashtool)
a few friends of mine had a WiFi issue and fixed it with Sony PC companion
(one of them still has heating issues but i think his heating issue is down to him, it seems his devices always do)

Hey guys,
Prob has been solved for me.
Unfortunately had to do a factory reset. Phone is literally 36 hours old lol
Settings under 'show advanced options': proxy none, ip address dhcp.
I have noticed wifi doesnt kick in though till after unlocking the phone and usually takes a few secs for the 4g (mobile data) to disconnect. Wifi HASNT needed to be manually turned on so far. Fingers crossed lol
Cheers.
Try in WiFi/Advanced to uncheck "Avoid poor connections" and "WiFi optimisation". Mine works ok but when I had "Avoid poor connection" checked I noticed that it didn't want to connect to WiFi even though I have a good connection at home.
I've got the same problem, phone is 1 day old and the wifi drops signal every few minutes. So far I've tried a restarting the router, factory resetting the phone, using a manual ip, unchecked optimise wifi and avoid poor signals. Its UK unlocked phone running 3 firmware.
Now debating whether to flash rhe UK ftf or return the phone to the shop?

If you have stamina mode on make sure that turn wifi & data off when screen goes off is unticked, it is ticked by default meaning every time the screen goes off it turns those features off & turns them back on when screen is unlocked. I make sure that is unticked & I haven't had any issues with wifi dropping.
Having the same issue with my newly purchased Z2, however only on my work network so far. WiFi connects, signal is great, but connectivity poor and it's taking an age to load websites/send emails/receive WhatsApp etc. It would be great if we could monitor this thread as more people get the phone.
Just performed a factory reset for the time and will test again when I reach the office in the morning.
Regards.
