Hello all,
Long story short : My father bought a Redmi 5 plus recently and lost it. It is found in a shady phone dealer, who insisted that the phone was unusable when he bought it and replaced the broken screen etc.
Since that guy already removed the back cover etc I though the guarantee was already void and tried to fix it myself.
While trying, I noticed that XiaomiTool was finding a Russian rom to install (negruek) as the suitable version even though we are in Turkey. Device is a MEG7 btw. So I don't know if that is usual or if the guy already tried to tamper with it, maybe he was trying to change imeis etc.
The bootloader was obviously locked and since my father haven't associated a xiaomi account with it, there was no way to unlock it or root it.
After tons of trial and errors using various methods and lots of rom versions I have managed to install a global developer rom via test point method.
However when the phone came alive the imeis were 0 and I couldn't get it to recognize the sim card.
When I checked online to fix that, most of the methods require either an unlocked bootloader or a rooted phone.
But I can't do that because I can't bind a xiaomi account to the phone because I don't have imeis...
The only way that seems doesn't have those requirements was to connect to the phone via qpst. So I opened the diagnostic port and installed the drivers and got the phone to appear in the com ports in Device Manager. However when I launch qpst phone field keeps disappearing and/or changing recognized device names so I cannot backup or restore efs.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Why XiaomiTool?
Apply testpoints and re-install the official global fastboot rom (either stable or developer) with MiFlash. This should fix your problem.
Thanks for the reply.
I have tried flashing official global stable rom however it stucks at bootloop. I have already flashed global developer rom using MiFlash, which opens up with lost imeis.
I have mentioned XiaomiTool because I thought that program advising to install a russian rom was weird.
I still need help.
Tried to reflash various roms again but still only rom that is passing the bootloop is global developer and still without imeis.
Tried a few other computers for qpst connection and different qpst versions but phone keeps appearing and disappearing in qpst even though it seems stable in the device manager.

Use miflash to flash dev china and unlock it, after unlocked bootloader use fastboot flash method to combe back whatever rom you want
you can't unlock on Global ROM although the official guide says yes.
I tried it hundreds of times, changing this, changing that, and all failed
Just flash to China Dev ROM to unlock
I just tried 1 times and instant success
I tried with china developer rom 6.4.14 still same problem...

Did you tried to wipe cache from device before procceding to unlock?Did you used multiple accounts on this device?Be sure that you use the same account both device and on browser
I reset the mobile and tried only one account i have..
Have you logged in your miui account in the phone? Because the same thing happened to me, the phone needs to be logged in to your miui account, not only the computer program, but the phone also.
S i logged in and even downloaded one theme..
some people say it got solved by using the Redmi usb cable you got in your box. or using an england VPN.
This is a frustrating issue, I guess lot of people are facing this. I have got the permission few days back but am facing the same issue as OP. I have tried everything mentioned on this forum, MIUI forum and what not. I am currently on China Dev ROM, unfortunately it still does not work. One last thing which might be the actual issue is that even after getting permission from Xiaomi, it takes a few more days to sync this to their servers. I have read many people saying they gave up but when they tried after 5-6 days, it worked. So I am hoping it will work for me too in the next 5-6 days
I am too fed up of unlocking bootloader, i got the permision on starting of april still i cant unlock,.. now i am back global stable rom will try in few days.
On PC try this steps:
1.disable driver signature enforcement permanently
2.disable user account control
3.disable smart screen protection
4.disable any security solution like AV Suite,Firewall, even WIndows inbuilt firewall
5.check if your Windows Management Instrumentation service running
6.right click on MiUNLOCK exe and run as administrator
This is perhaps the most disturbing and irritating thing to have happened to me in my experience of rooting and owing Android smartphones. The process which seems simple is perhaps the most complicated and uncalled for. I have used phones form "Novice manufactures" to Super manufactures like Karbonn, Micromax, Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG, OnePlus. They all have been tricky but yet did the job as promised. Easiest was unlocking my Oneplus2, did it the very day i got my phone. HTC and Sony were tricky and a little complicated but once the process started, they were executed to perfection. I do not understand why Xioami had to screw up this big time. I got the permission but have tried everything possible; however, just not successful. Will wait for a while and get back to unlocking in a weeks time
i did got the permission yesterday tried on global stable rom its not happening will be flashing china stable rom and then moving to developer version via updater app, just wanted to confirm should i follow this guide http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html
or is there any other way to go
i have 2 freakin accounts with unlock permissions tried each and every damn step out there on xda and miui forums tried 2 different computers still it says info on the device is different than the current account. god knows what on earth will unlock the bootloader
sorry to revive this old thread, but did you try after 5-6 days and did it actually work to unlock the bootloader with the official way?
This is the most irritating thing with Xiaomi. I've tried every guide and thread on MIUI forums but to no avail. Those idiots at MIUI forums are worthless. They only know to spam forums with "thank you" and "nice" instead of making productive discussion. Many people are facing the same problem with BL unlock and the administrators must be probably aware of the issue. What are they doing for so long? They should have released a new version of mi unlock tool already with the fix or whatever is the issue with their servers, I don't know. I just need to unlock my bootloader officially.
Have you guys checked if "fastboot" command works while in the fastbood mode? Try "fastbood devices" first, does it display the attached device successfully?
So, here's my cautionary tale of why jumping into things without research is a bad idea.
TLDR: Nougat Android Pay doesn't like unlocked bootloaders; locking the bootloader can be a bad idea, and IMEI restoration seems to work (at least, if it partially worked with IMEI 0)
I just upgraded to an A2017U from a Nexus 5 on Marshmallow, which had its bootloader unlocked, with SuperSu installed but root disabled and hidden, and Android Pay set up. All fine and dandy.
When I got my Axon 7, I thought it'd be a good idea to unlock the bootloader in case I needed to recover data, so using the Axon 7 Toolkit and some guides, that went just fine.
However, when I tried using Android pay, I found out that it didn't work on bootloader unlocked devices on Nougat, so I thought I'd just lock the bootloader again.
One "fastboot oem lock" later, I found myself in a world of trouble. The phone wouldn't boot, but at least I still had the stock recovery. Tried putting one of the EDL zips on an SDcard to see if it would flash. Nope.
Tried the Axon7Toolkit's EDL mode unbricker, but due to MD5 mismatches/missing files, it wouldn't take.
Tried Tenfar's official B07 EDL flash. Got "Error: Bad format" when I tried it after deleting the two files he mentioned, so somehow, I thought it'd be a good idea to add those files back in and try again. Nope.
Then I tried flashing the B15 EDL image. Somehow got dropped into "Factory Test Mode" and couldn't leave.
Then I flashed the B19 EDL image, which, finally got me back onto a working OS, with a locked bootloader.
At this point, everything connected fine, but I found out that my IMEI was 0 in both SIM 1 and SIM 2. Didn't think about it too much at the time, since everything worked, until I realized I couldn't receive any calls (placing them was fine). The culprit? Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE (on my carrier, T-Mobile) was on. Disabling those worked, but I realized that these technologies probably needed a valid IMEI to work.
Thus, it was time to go back into the business of unlocking bootloaders; I followed the GizDev guide to reprogramming IMEIs, which worked on the rooted, stock B19 image (the only thing the guide doesn't mention is that you need to manually install the 901D driver from device manager; it showed up in the list of already-installed drivers, probably from the XiaoMi flash tool installation).
Now, with the original IMEI back in place, I was elated to find out that Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE worked again! And now, here I am, exasperated yet excited, to have restored the functionality of my Axon before that fated "fastboot oem lock". Now, only if I could find a way to get Android Pay working again...
Use Magisk. If you want to stay stock you have to use an older version. Look at the version used by bad boyz.
I have the same problem that was the method he used to restore his image and helped me to thank infinitely
Hi everyone,
This is starting to really do my head in, considering I unlocked, flashed and rooted Redmi 3S on first try and in a few minutes.
I managed to unlock bootloader of Redmi Note 4 SD after finally installing correctly usb fastboot drivers (using MiFlash). I flashed TWRP 3.2.2.0, flashed OPT patch and SuperSU, and got a TWRP bootloop (phone always booted into TWRP).
Using MiFlash, I flashed Global Dev Rom and then phone updated by ota to latest 7.6.29. HOWEVER, stupid of me, I flashed rom with option checked of Clean All and Lock, accidentally locking bootloader again.
I try to unlock phone again with Mi Unlock Tool, log into my account succesfully and Tool doesn´t detect phone. Drivers are installed but Tool says Phone Not Detected. I unplug and plug usb cable to all ports and nothing.
However if I use older version of Mi Unlock Tool 1. 1, it detects phone but when I unlock ,it stops at 50% saying Couldn´t Verify Device. Account is bound to phone and I´m logging in with correct details.
Does one need to apply to Xiaomi again for a second unlock?? Driver problem? Account problem?
Anyone have any ideas? I would like to flash TWRP and root phone to be able to fix once and for all that FRIGGIN audio mic noise cancellation when recording videos, seeing as Devs don´t develop a rom with that huge bug patched.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers!!
Did you try it? https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/bootloader-unlock-variants-to-read-t3565459 Read also second post, you should turn on oem unlock, and one apply for one phone.
Thanks buddy, tried all that, but I have posted in that specific bootloader thread to see if someone has an answer.
Cheers friend!
Phone: Asus Zenfone 3 ZC520TL
Hi all. So I have a frustrating issue with my phone after having updated to the last official firmware from the Asus website. I noticed that the phone operation was very slow, so I decided to do a factory reset from recovery. Everything went well until I am somehow locked out of my phone via FRP. The weirdest thing is that instead of asking for google credentials, it's asking for a pattern, which I am correctly inputting but it refuses to recognize it. So now I'm stuck with a locked out phone. Am I SOL at this point or is there a way to get past this other than taking it to a service center?
Things I've tried that haven't worked:
1. tried to erase user config in fastboot (returned error FAILED)
2. wiped all data in recovery
3. tried to flash to an older version via asus flashtool but didn't work as the device isn't recognized
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hello .... I have a sister redmi note 4 who has a bootloop ... on the screen with the MI logo it keeps restarting .... it goes to fastboot but not to recovery ... the bootloader is locked and I still can't unlock it because what I looked so unlocked in the system by logging into my MI account ... but I can't get to the system ... I tried my flash but it says that it did something for 4 seconds and nothing still the same .... I tried to put it into download mode - by connecting contacts on the board and miflash download ROM to the phone but bootloop still continues
do you have any ideas?
the phone was so stupid that it kept restarting but always after several restarts it started but now even after two days of restart it didn't start ...
thanks sorry for my english
I had a stroke reading this.
Unlocked bootloader is the basic requirement of flashing. If you don't have it, then sorry you're out of options.
Your only option is to flash stock ROM through test-point method. DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK.
You can find Xiaomi stock ROMs of your device here (MTK) or here (MIDO).
Of course you can always just send your device to a repair center and change it there.
Goodluck.
test point method is lint two pins od board and run mobile to download mode? I try it ... flashing was succesfull but mobile ist still bootloop

You need to flash stock ROM not any other ROM.
As in the same ROM you had before any issue. Because your bootloader is locked it will refuse to run any boot image that isn't registered in it.
If you have a backup maybe you can flash it through download mode.
I try ROMs from your link and not working...always bootloop I try a lot of ROMs - global, china, stable, weekly and not working....flash is succesfull around 190seconds.... but still bootloop

I Can't help you there mate.
Maybe there is a way to get system info from bricked phone. Maybe through a hex editor or something. That way you know exact version of the ROM you had.
So instead of that maybe you can unlock your bootloader, just request from Xiaomi unlock code with your XIaomi account and unlock it. It usually takes 30-60 days for the request to go through.
Where I find old way to unlock bootloader? because in new unlocker I unlock phone butt I must log in to my account in system... thanks

There is no other way to unlock bootloader. Unless you know a guy, know what I'm sayin?
