Brick after upgrading firmware/modem - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I was running the ROM 'MSM Xtended Pie 9.0', it was very good but it looked like the radio signal (phone) was bad. I decided to update the modem and ended up killing my N4. I think it was a firmware + modem and not just a modem (I could not find the link again).
I tried to install the tools for recovery, but the device does not turn on. When you turn on Power, it vibrates (a constant, rapid vibration every 0.5 seconds). When I put it in the USB or the charger, it does the same thing (the PC does not appear anything) and the red LED blinks. Nothing on the screen.
Therefore the drivers / device are not recognized on the PC. Any other button does the same thing, it does not go into Recovery mode or Fast boot.
Is there hope?
Thank you!

[Q] Can't get to Download Mode - stuck on loading screen

Hi All,
So, I tried to flash Cyanogen mod last night using the instructions here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Vibrant:_Full_Update_Guide. I was coming from a BIONIX ROM that flashed fine.
Anyways, the phone went into a reboot loop in the recovery screen and I foolishly just held the power button until it stopped. When I turned it back on it was broken. That is, now all it does is display the white Vibrant logo in the middle of the screen with the smaller Samsung logo below it. If I hold the power button for about 8 seconds the screen goes black for about 2 seconds and then comes right back up to where it was. I can't seem to even turn the phone off any more. It just stays on that screen permanently unless I hold the power button, in which case the screen is off for 2 out of every 10 seconds. Yanking the battery of course turns it off, but putting it back in immediately returns it to the state I've described.
I've scoured these forums and tried every button press + battery state + cable state + SD card/SIM state combo suggested, but the phone won't go to download or recovery mode. I found one thread describing the exact same problem. The OP said he'd try a jig and then disappeared without any further updates. I'm going to try to get my friend to make a jig using one of these sets of instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
http://factoidz.com/how-to-unbrick-your-samsung-vibrant-galaxy-s/
but until then my questions is: does anyone have any experience with this problem (can't even turn the phone off)? If so, do you have any recommendations? Did a Jig work?
keep trying to get to download mode, pull battery, plug usb in to computer and to the phone, while holding both volume up and volume down pop in the battery. People have tried hundreds of times with it not working and then all of a sudden *bam* download mode.
So... my friend made me a jig and it works in that I can see the shoveling droid indicating download mode. However Heimdall/Odin won't recognize my phone. Heimdall's zadig utility won't locate the phone either, even with the cable plugged in. I'm, once again, stumped.
Just an update; I've tried Odin on three different computers, two Windows 7 (64 bit) and a Mac (with Heimdall). None of them seem to recognize the phone. Device manager on the Windows 7 machine does not update when I plug the phone in (in Download mode via the jig or not) and I can't find anything about Samsung in it anywhere. However I have installed the Samsung drivers; a few different sets I've found around the forums. I've also tried a couple utilities like the Vibrant toolbox and one click unbrick. Nothing seems to have any effect. I was so hopeful when the jig worked and got me to download mode, but now it's seeming I'm actually bricked. Has anyone seen a phone that could get to download mode but still be bricked? Oh, and I checked the cable using a friend's phone; her Mac recognized her phone using the cable. Haven't tried her phone on my Window's machines though.
Once again, any help is more than appreciated.
Have you tried to see if adb is working? If it does then try adb reboot recovery? If it works there is a file I can post for you later (is in my pc) that can restore your sbl.bin and fix your download mode problems.
Thanks for your help everyone, the problem was apparently resolved by a new cable; which is strange because the old one works for data transfers... just not for flashing apaprently. :S

[Q] Black screen, no lights, no sounds, but usb detects = hard brick? :(

Hey guys,
As of 1 hour ago, I'm a sad panda. I think i hard-bricked my Jewel. While flashing the the 3.17.651.4 "Full" Firmware zip from here.
Battery was low, so i plugged it into USB while flashing. After it rebooted, screen wouldn't come back on (maybe a driver glitch, it happens sometimes and all is fine), so I unplugged it and tried pressing the power button to reboot it. It probably went into bootloader mode, found the IMG zip and started flashing it. I plugged it back in, nothing. Now cannot get any response out of it. Once the battery dies, maybe it will happily come back to life and all will be okay, but maybe it won't.
I've been flashing for years and have soft-bricked many times and been able to ADB my way out of it, but this time is different. Symptoms are:
- Screen is black, no lights no sounds.
- Phone will not turn off after holding pwr button for 30+ secs
- The only way i know that it's on is when I plug it into my desktop, i hear the usb connection sound. (Win 8.1 x64 with driver signing disabled)
- Device manager does not show any new device, no ADB or Android or HTC Phone.
- Phone will probably run out of battery in a couple hours it was around 5% to begin with
I'm on Hboot 2.09.2222 (DirtyRacun S-OFF) Firmware was 1.12.something. Was happily running CM10.2 and Clockworkmod 6.0.4.8.
anything I should try?
thanks a lot,
Leon
I don't know that CWM was ever fixed to work properly on this device, which means that, combined with trying to flash firmware with a low battery could be bad news.
Leave it on a charger all day, and then come back to it and see if it turns on.

[Q] Need help with my Droid Razr. (Bricked)

Hey guys,
I had purchased this phone awhile back in 2012 and The model is: XT912. I had rooted it and installed a Custom Rom (Black Widow). The reason why I stopped using it was because I had a cracked screen so I upgraded to a different phone but having alot of issues with my new phone. So I decided to replace my screen for my Droid Razr, but its been awhile since i've used it and been experiencing issues of my phone not booting up and looked online for multiple solutions but no luck.
Issues are:
- Phone needs a USB Wall Charger to be able to be turned on, battery is charged fully but when I unplug my USB Charger, my phone turns off. When I try to attempt to do a fastboot session, I connect my Stock Motorola USB Cable to my PC and on my phone, it shows a white light. But when plugged in to a wall charger, my phone boots up but doesn't boot anywhere besides the motorola logo.
- My phone boots up, shows the motorola logo and goes straight to battery charge and it shows 0% then 5% then 100% sits there for about 3 minutes and then reboots.
- When trying to go into recovery, it stays on the motorola and i've left it there for 24 hours abd no luck.
I've tried multiple things, but its been very aggravating since I've been trying to look up solutions for the past week but still had no luck.
Please help =(

The white light means that your battery is empty, try this:
Booting from AP fastboot to charging mode
If the Device will only boot to AP Fastboot and it says Battery Low
Connect the phone/Device ato a Wall Charger (not PC)
-In AP Fastboot Mode hold Volume down& power buttons at the same time for +10 seconds
- When screen goes black...release power button
-Then IMMEDIATELY press and hold Vol - and Vol+ to boot to Boot Menu.
- In Boot Menu scroll down with volume down to BP Tools, press volume up to select
- Device should boot to Charging Mode with battery icon
- Once battery is charged, try flashing in AP Fastboot again
This will only work if battery charging Firmware is still present and not corrupted
If Motorola Device will not boot to Charging Mode, a Fastboot cable will be needed.
You can buy it or you can make one by yourself, look at the picture.
If you can boot to AP Fastboot mode use this utility to flash stock rom, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr/development/droid-razr-utility-xt913-jellybean-t2861798
If nothing works maybe your battery needs replacement...

I've tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned above but no luck.
What I remember is that, back in the day when I installed the ROM, I wiped everything, incl. the Recovery partition and I believe android version it was on was ICS. When I installed Black Widow, everytime i would reboot it, i had to turn it on a certain way, sort of like safe mode. I've tried it though but no luck
Also, everytime I do plug in a charger, It does show a charge of 100% but once I unplug the USB, it turns off and the only way to turn it back on is plugging the USB back in.
I've also created the cable you've mentioned, but it still shows a white light when plugged into a PC. I've already replaced the battery and the battery is brand new. Just replaced it yesterday.
Any other suggestions? Is there a way to fastboot it so i can install a stock rom with the OTA?
Thanks.

You can't charge the phone with the fastboot cable,it is for flashing the stock rom with RSD Lite when your battery is low.
Here is everything you need
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3023837
Download Motorola drivers,RSD Lite, appropriate sbf file for your region and flash it.
Oh,use Windows 7,not Windows 8
Edit:
Use this utility because you have XT912

I actually got it to boot up, but turns right back off. How do you boot it up into safe mode when the phone is off?

Ok, So I was able to get to the Boot Logo usuing HW Diag. and Boot AP and my screen would show safe mode activated, then it would boot up a logo and I believe its cyanogen mod. It has a Blue Droid with a ring circling around it, but then it restarts. Maybe if i'm able to boot it into safe mode from the beginning, i could start it up.
How do I boot it into safe mode when the phone is off?
Thanks.

Samsung Note 3 Model N900T Completely Bricked.

UPDATE:
When I use a usb gig it allows me to access my phone fully on ODIN, which tells me it works in putting me in download mode. however, the screen remains black.
Hi, my note 3 is completely bricked. when I hold the power button for awhile there is a slight flash of light but the screen stays black. I cannot enter download mode or recovery mode, but I know the device is on because a blue led occasionally comes on, and when charging a red led comes on. Also it vibrates slightly when I press the and hold the power buttons. Also on odin 3.10 my devise is recognized but it cannot flash the stock rom because it cannot get past the setting up connection step ( Probably due to the phone not being in download mode). my computer recognizes it as a samsung android but says its purpose is a modem. I have tried many things and they don't seem to have worked. I have seen numerous cases like mine, but the only answers that seem to exist are put it into download mode and flash it (which I can't do), or to jtag it(I don't even know what that is). Any real help is apreciated, thanks!
Stranger things have happened, I suppose, but haven't seen a phone in the state be recovered from just Odin.
You could try this method first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625332
Of course, you might need to change some things depending on which variant you have and what update you are on, but that should be the general guideline.
If that fails, then:

Recommend these guys for a jtag service.

3 Red Lights and Not Charging

my z5 Compact is taking forever to charge and even after I leave it in for hours, it still says it needs to be charged. When I unplug the phone from the charger and try to turn it on, I get 3 red lights. Holding volume up and turning it on only gives me 3 vibrations. Before this happened, I used the phone all the way till the battery shut down. After that, I can't get it to charge any more.
Sounds like you over-discharged the battery. You should always avoid using the phone to the point where it force shutdowns due to 0% remaining battery.
Try hard shutdown by pushing and holding the yellow OFF button in the flap for 10 seconds, then charge the phone for about an hour and try turning it on.
If that doesn't work, press and hold ALL physical buttons simultaneously (VOL UP, VOL DOWN, POWER, CAMERA) AND press and hold the yellow button for 10 seconds.
The phone should vibrate or something, I forgot, then charge the phone for about an hour and try turning it on.
Volume up + Power for hard shutdown.
Can you get into flash mode or fastboot mode?
Plugging the phone into your computer and entering fastboot mode helped me once:
So you disconnect your phone, do a hard shutdown to make sure it is off. Press and hold vol up and connect it to your computer. If a blue light shows up, at least the basic circuits and bootloader are ok
Keep your phone connected for 30 minutes and you should (well, might) have some charge again.
If you can get into fastboot or flash mode but still can't boot up, try reflashing your phone (if possible), esp. your boot partition.
try charge with QC2.0, adapter will charge device on 9v, its standar QC2.0, when your phone drain of battery until shut down, down turn it on. Your phone must connect to charger and wait untill 2%-4% of battery before turn on.
if charger fail, change your battery, dont force charge before IC power broken (dead)

I am running on a 5823 imported from the UK (i think). Is it safe to flash boot.img prescribed for the 5803.
Also, where can I find a collection of boot.img for the 5823? I am not really sure I am doing this right.
Re-writing boot in fastboot mode will only work if your device is unlocked, and although unlocking should happen in the bootloader it is not something I would risk with an already bricked phone. Maybe as a last resort thing.
But IIRC just keeping the phone connected to your PC in fastboot or flash mode somehow bypasses some of the charging logic*, so just leaving your phone to idle might give you some basic battery charge to start with.
If you can enter those modes: You can re-flash your phone with stock firmware using the proprietary flash mode (Vol-Down when connecting to PC, green led should show up). Search for 'Xperia Flashtool' and/or 'XperiFirm', there should be lots of information, these tools help you download Sony firmware, too. I would not flash an image for a different phone type, I guess there is a reason why they made 2 firmwares
If you still only want to flash boot.img (= only the 'boot' partition on the flash as a raw image), you'll need an unlocked bootloader first. Also, if you already have an unlocked bootloader, you probably have installed a custom ROM (why else do you unlock your bl?). To avoid any more confusing error sources, I recommend flashing exactly the boot.img via fastboot that came with your custom ROM and that worked until now.
*Most likely bc there is no kernel to optimize (read: mess up) charging. I once had a Z5C with more-or-less blown charging 'stuff' and I was able to charge it in fastboot mode as a workaround.
Three red blinks is, afaik, a status message for a dead battery. It has been discharged below safety limits, and is no longer safe to charge.
