Magisk hide not working - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Lately, I've been facing issue with Magisk,
Google Pay's new update is detecting root, even though I've enabled "hide root" toggle in magisk.
I'm using Magisk's latest version and it's able to hide root for other app but for Google pay.
I've tried many apps but that doesn't seem to be working.
thanks in advance.
Edit - Not just google play, every other app is detecting root and blocking me from making any payment.

I wanted to post on Magisk's forum but somehow that thread is locked. And the trick worked, thank you for that.

Thank you for this. We just switched at work to this app being mandatory instead of the keyfob. And nothing I can find will block the app from the Play Store from finding root. You saved my life!

Thanks for the download!
FWIW, after installing this, I tried to install RootCloak via the Xposed Framework (http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-hide-root-access-from-apps-that-detect-root-on-android/), then added Entrust to the custom app list and then upgrade to the latest version via the Google Play Store and it's working! Not sure if it's necessary to install this old version first or not though.

Good stuff dmbfan36_23! I can confirm that this indeed works with Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile using the Xposed Framework version of RootCloak. As a side note, I installed the older version first. Next I setup Entrust IdentityGuard Mobile. Then I used the directions from the link above. Afterwards, I updated the app through the Google Play Store. For the final step, I confirmed that the app still worked after the update.
For more information regarding RootCloak:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-rootcloak-completely-hide-root-t2574647
Sorry to bump this old thread but it comes up in the search quite often and I found this xposed module which fixes the issue:
http://repo.xposed.info/module/ca.pr0ps.xposed.entrustunblocker
It works great for the latest app version.
Not working for me
I tried this. I rebooted but it didn't work. I thought my phone was rooted, but Titanium app says it's not. I copied the linked apk file to my PC, dropped it to a folder on my LG G2 (build LRX22G) LS980ZVI Android 5.0.2. I opened the file, clicked INSTALL, waited for confirmation. Rebooted the phone (turned it off/on); re-installed Entrust current version on Google Play (updated Aug 27, 2016 supports Nougat 7.0) and get the same error: "Manual activation is not supported on an unsecured device"
What more do I need to do?
What's the latest with Entrust? I'm trying to get the latest Google Play version running with Magisk and some build.prop edits but I'm not having much luck. Anyone have some pointers on what's working now?

Nope. Not for me. Still using an Entrust FOB until I figure something out. There is a beta version of Magisk out (v. 13) but I have not tried it yet. I'm running v. 12 without success on this app.
Hey guys... Has anyone managed to use entrust with Magisk hide? I'm running version 14.4 and have tried everything without success. Even though Magisk is hidden, entrust app checked under Magisk hide, developer and adb/usb is disabled... I still get the "can't add manual identities on an unsecured device" message. Any help will be appreciated.

That sounds great but:
1 - I didn't install busybox, nor can I see it under settings/apps.
2 - could you please post detailed instructions on how to get rid of busybox?
This still seems to be a problem in 2021.
And the current version of Entrust ST doesn't even need root to not run, it detects custom ROMs (like the LineageOS 17.1 I'm running on my phone) which are already enough for it to spew out its "unsecured device" message even without being rooted.
At the same time there hasn't been any progress here, I suppose?

Hi, a couple of days ago I stumbled onto this issue and there is a fix using an Xposed module called Entrust IdentityGuard Unblocker. To enable it on Android +9, you need to install Riru, EDXposed (both Magisk modules) and then install the IdentityGuard Unblocker module. You can find more detailed guidance online, but you probably already know this. Even though the module per se is a little bit old, it works with the current Entrust IdentityGuard version to this day.
Hope this helps!

how to root COLAL10 8.1.0.140(C675)

Hey please someone help me out on this! Can I try to root using ramdisk 131 (there is a
thread here) or do I have to use 140 patch one. If yes, can anyone with the root access on 140 provide me a patch ramdisk? If not, does anyone know how to patch oneself, that will be helpful also
Thanks in advance
Edit : thanks to no one, I was able to get root after multiple weird ways haha.
I hope the dev fix the invalid magisk issue soon, cause i can't use gpay ?
Maybe you just have to use one of the magisk beta builds?
I for example had to use magisk v16.7 for .145 to get root access back and to pass the safety net status.
Google Pay is working for me but my creditcard is currently not supporting google pay.

Does google pay work on Poco after rooting

I'm on stock MIUI 10.2 Pie right now. I wanted to stay on this ROM only since it's pretty stable however wanted root to enable adblocking and viper4android.
I wanted to know, if I could still use Google Pay after root. Is Magisk Hide on latest version able to do that ? Any users from India, please let me know..
Yes but for that you have to turn off 'telephone' permission of google play services

Flash Pixel experience ROM, but don't root it. I mean use it as it is without flashing magisk. Every banking app will work fine.
However, if you want to use magisk hide then-
Phonepe - working
Paytm - working
Bhim - working
Google pay / Tez - not working.
Yes you can use the Tez app after disabling telephone permission. But you will not be able to make any transactions from your side. However, you can receive transactions from other people.

Yes first of all hide the google pay account from Magisk hide. then go to installed app and select show system app from three dotted line on near right status bar and find google play services.
Disable permission of play service on telephone, contact, call logs and then reboot your phone.
Now you can enjoy google pay on your device.:good:

In India, Google pay works with bank IDs called upi rather than NFC.
Yes, use Magisk & then use module MagiskHide Props Config. I used the above method on Xperia XZ & Google Pay worked again, even via NFC.

I'm not too sure on that one, I'm in the same boat with my Pocophone at the moment as it shows that it passed safetynet, but some apps still see that I'm rooted. Give it a try if you have trouble with some apps.

Santander app not working with Magisk 24.1 & weird stock android (11) behaviours

I recently rooted my Ulefone Power Armor 14 using Magisk 24.1. I followed the following steps to get Google Pay working. I also tried the same steps to get Santander not detecting root but I still cannot use the app.
Add Google Pay to denylist inside Magisk
Enable force denylist
Clear Google Play, Google Play Services and Google Pay storage & cache
Reboot
This worked perfectly for Google Pay. I want to try Shamiko with Santander but to enable this I have to disable the Magisk denylist which causes Google Pay to not work.
Does anyone have any experience with this and any suggestions on how to hide the root from Santander? Couldn't find anything else online for this, all guides are written pre Magisk 24.1 when it used to use the MagiskHide module (pre Zygisk).
On a side note, does anyone know why the accent colour is locked on stock android on this phone? It seems Ulefone has removed the option to set it in settings, so I used "cmd overlay enable com.android.theme.color.green" which caused the UI to reload, but it came up with their blue colour still. I also tried a theme app (substratum) and enabled overlays on the system UI. Everything updated EXCEPT for the accent colour. Would love to understand why and if there is a way to change this?
Thanks in advance!

Again, could you provide the exact steps you used to set this up?
I found lots of help with the deny list with Google Pay that was not actually helpful because it was just "add to denylist and enforce". It wasn't until someone provided step-by-step guide that it worked as there was key sections missing (like clearing storage/cache etc).
Also, XPrivacyLua wont let me add Santander to its scope or Google Pay because it is in the denylist, but this is required for Shamiko? So these are incompatible no?

Search magisk delta
I installed Magisk Delta as suggested here and added "The Weather Network" app to MagiskHide, but it still said I was rooted. Somehow, the RootBeer code they use was able to detect EdXposed Manager on my phone, despite MagiskHide. I ended up uninstalling EdXposed since I didn't need it anymore anyway, and I was finally able to check the weather. I have no ****ing idea why a weather app would block root, but you have my thanks.
