[Q] Wifi hotspot and usb tethering problem on GB

Hi, I finally decided to post my question after many hours searching trough google and xda.
Two weeks ago like many of you I uptdated my x10 to pre-rooted 2.3.3 stock Rom. At this moment I successfully tested wifi hotspot and usb tethering built in fonctions.
But Recently I tried to use it again but any time I checked the option, Android activate it for a second, an then says me "error" under the option name. Usb tehter can't be reactived at all and wifi hotspot can be checked but always uncheck himslef with the error subtitle.
Anyone facing this issue or know where it can come from ? And maybe the fix of course ^^.
Hope I made my self clear because actually I'm french.

I use Baracle to solve the issue with wifi tethering
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.szym.barnacle&feature=search_result
Yeah this is the solution I used to adopte when was on 2.1. And it was the best until the update.
But as far as what I tested when built-in tether worked it's clearly better. Not just an Ah-hod network but a real hotspot. Basically it's easier for other devices to connect and remember the password without configuring everything especially on windows.
And the usb option was even better, nothing to configure, no password, battery charging during tethering.
Anyway thank for the advice, until I get the solution I'll probably continue to use this app.
When you say "solve the problem with wifi tethering", do you mean you have the same one ?
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Please, no one else, am I the only one facing the issue ? Even on an other device maybe ?
Finally I used SEUS to repare and root it like azazu said. Everything is back. Didn't find any other solution

I have the same problem and it never has been working from the start ! but USB tethering has no problem. The only way to fix it is to re-flash ?
Well I guess this is the best until someone more expert than us find a solution. I made a reparation with SEUS (sony ericsson update service) and then restore all back with Titanium Backup. Remember to save your contacts and sms before (cause Titanium doesn't). It only took one hours to get it all back just like before (root, bravia, Xloud, fps uncap...)
Hotspot error UNSOLVED 2012-02-01
Here's what I've done so far. I've suffered from this issue on two different Samsung Galaxy TAB's 7" (1 generation), two different Samsung Galaxy S2, two different HTC Desire HD, one ZTE Blade.
This issue is NOT caused by:
*Manufacture of phone
*Internet Service Provider (ISP)
*Operator
*Bluetooth ON/OFF
*root ON/OFF
*Stock Kernel
*Mod Kernel
*Stock Rom
*Mod Rom
*Stock Modem
*Mod Modem
*Android version: 2.3+ has this issue. (I've experienced a different issue on 4.0+; the Hotspot is up running although no device can connect to it.)
The only solution I've found is:
(From Clockwork Recovery):
Wipe Data(system reset)
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik
Format Cache
Format Data
Format System
-Install a Rom (try a different one from what you are using right now).
Reboot
RESULT:
Hotspot working fine....for a while..
When it stops working; you'll have to do the steps above again. Install a different ROM, now you probably can return to your previously ROM which had this issue first. It will probably work. If it doesn't, switch ROM till you find one that works. Sometimes, total randomly; you will be able to use ROMS which this issue has been present earlier.
Yet, this is NOT a permanent solution. You will, no exceptions, experience this issue, on whatever ROM, modem, kernel, stock, not stock, phone, whatever, whatever you choose.
Here's one scenario which I couldn't figure out:
Galaxy TAB 7" 1st generation.
Android 2.3.4
*HOTSPOT ERROR*
WIPE/FORMAT
RE-Flashed Same Rom
*HOTSPOT WORKING*
1 hour later
*HOTSPOT ERROR*
WIPE/FORMAT
RE-Flashed Same Rom
*HOTSPOT WORKING*
5-10 minutes later
*HOTSPOT ERROR*
WIPE/FORMAT
RE-Flashed Same Rom
*HOTSPOT ERROR*
?????
I've also noticed that USB tethering is affected by this issue aswell.
If you have it working, congratulations! Use it while it lasts, nothing stays forever.

[Q] Wifi does not work after upgrading to ICS

Upgraded Galaxy S2 to latest ICS update available in India.
But after that Wifi is not working properly. WAP2 authentication is not happening properly.
Wifi analyzer shows good signal strength.
No notification for wifi shown in top bar. But in notification dropdown wifi is full green.
tried battery remove, wifi sleep policy change, password change and *# code to reset driver.
Any other help?
thanks
rohan
Are you sure the password you entered is correct? Because this problem shouldn't occur if you're on the official firmware and kernel. This MAY happen if you're rooted and have a custom ROM installed which is in a BETA state. This is normally a problem related to the kernel itself. You should probably try restoring your phone if the WIFI doesn't work at all. Or maybe you can restart the phone again and there might be a fix.
doing a factory reset also might help... it helped me in my case.
which from you upgrading ,via KIES or ODIN.try to download firmware then flash via ODIN.i m had the same case first time come to ICS.
sorry for my bad english
Some solution
I updated using Kies.
BTW, I have some work around, for anyone interested.
On wifi router disable WEP encryption (not WPA), in that case S2 can connect to wifi properly.
But when WEP encryption AES or any other is enabled, it cannot connect to wifi.

Hotspot (wifi tethering) doesn't work after nougat update

Hi everyone,
Hotspot was working regularly before nougat. But after nougat update wifi hotspot feature doesn't work. It opens. Computer connect it. But there is no internet connection. Google chrome error code is: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG
There can be internet connection maybe 1 of 10 trying.
Is there any suggestion to fix the problem? I made factory reset. But situation is same.
Works with me
Works for me as well. I had that problem when I was still on MM and got rid of it after upgrading to Nougat and wiping everything using Flashtool.

You need a motherboard replacement.
If your phone is still covered by warranty, you can send it to a Motorola repair center to have it fixed (and wait 2 or 3 months).

Then there is no solution.
Mine is still under warranty, I sent it to Motorola two months ago, and they have NOT fixed it yet.
I will NEVER buy another Moto again.
I had this problem with wifi (mac 02:00...) and it came out to be a 100% software problem. I got it as a result of unsuccessful BL unlock, twrp, then root... Finally I decided to get back to locked BL and stock ROM. And "voila!" my wifi is back and is fully functional...
Very Well

Congrants :good:
That is a great new for all of us (if the cause is the same of course).
now the big question, how did you do it?. You could be a little more specific please.
1. what stock frimware you used?
I try whit this (XT1650-03_GRIFFIN_RETAIL_7.1.1_NPLS26.118-20-5-3_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip) this because the build number of my moto z in this moment is NPLS26.118-20-5-3 but i dont sure.
The Frimware i got it from this web https: //mirrors.lolinet.com/ firmware/moto/griffin/official/RETUS/
2. You previous version ROM ( 7.1.1. ) of android corresponse to the new version stock (7.1.1.) you used to flash or are diferents ??.
3. The Build Number Version was equals?
Thanks for your time!!
i got it fixed when i formatted my cell from recovery now wifi is working but bluetooth is not so definitely its not the hardware issue its only related to software
I have a similar problem with wifi (and hotspot) in my Moto Z. Wifi MAC is 02:00:00:00:00:00.
The battery is also drained really quick - it lasts only 1 day.
The problem occurred a few days ago without any good reason - I did not update nor install anything lately. I tried wiping cache - no success.
edit:
MAC has returned to normal, bluetooth is working.
Wifi still does not find any networks.
My battery mod does not charge the phone - I have no idea why

How did you got it back ? Explain something
I did not get it back - wifi still does not work, only MAC returned to normal.
I did not do anything special - just discharged and recharged the phone a few times.
Yesterday I reflashed the kernel (latest TurboZ), wiped cache and power drainage has returned to normal, but MAC is again 02:00:00:00:00:00. No idea why.

Question Pixel 6 wifi bug

I got pixel 6 2 months ago .. when I unboxed I couldn't connect to wifi cause it couldn't find any wifi network ... After February update the problem still remains even after March update... I can connect by putting my device in airplanemode then reboot the device and my device can connect to any wifi without any problem and I can switch airplamode off and still connected ... Who has this bug too van we find a fix for it .. and thanx..
I just got my Pixel 6 about a week ago and don't have this issue. The phone came with the Jan update and I updated to the March update (skipped Feb update because of its issues). Since this is likely a software issue, I'm thinking a factory reset (without restoring from backup) may help you?

Before the big hassle of resetting the phone, maybe try a smaller hassle first. When a network device has trouble looking up names it could be time to flush the router's DNS cache. For home routers this usually means a factory reset if the firmware doesn't have the option.
have you tried a network reset back to default values?
i cant remember where i saw it, but its a feature
Ive tried every method from network reset to factory reset to full flash firmware .... Nothing happened ... Same problem still there
Is this only happening with one access point? If yes, maybe the AP has a configuration which is not suitable for ur phone.
I personally never experienced any WiFi issues since I have the mobile.
Cheers
Tom
I was going to say much the same - find a friend/family AP to test with to compare.
I tried another 5 ap...still problem
