This is a work in progress for enabling smart screen!!
I've only tested this on the H811 so far. I know there aren't too many with an unlocked bootloader so please try at your own risk.
So far I have smart screen enabled under settings. You can check and uncheck it to activate. The issue I'm running into is it doesn't actually keep.the screen on. You'll get the face detecting notification in the status bar but the screen still times out. I would like any help in this if anyone has any to offer. I've tried installing the wise screen apk from the VZW G4, but I get force closes. The one from my gpad 8.0 is the same app and it also force closes. This one is from my Gpad 7.0 and I don't know for sure if it's the reason it doesn't work even though it installs and doesn't fc. My gpad is still on kitkat so there are no associated libs. I'm in the process of requesting the files from a G3 running LP to see if it makes a difference.. Just waiting on someone to send them.
So for now this is what I have..
Install the wise screen apk into system/priv-app and set permissions rw-r-r
Move lge framework-res to the system before moving it to the framework folder to avoid any fc issues. Set permissions rw-r-r before moving into system/framework/lge framework-res.
After doing so reboot
Upon reboot go to system/settings/display and scroll almost all the way to the bottom check smart screen. Test it out and rack your brain, let's see if we can get this fully functional.
So from my logs I'm seeing on the gpad when the notification comes up wise screen calls to the camera and the cameraa opens for face detection. On the G4 it does not call to the camera and/or the camera isn't responding to it. Smart lock will open the camera if you have facial recognition on. So we know the camera will/should respond when called. I'm thinking that there is something wrong with the odex file. The wisescreen apk from the Gpad 7 have a classes.dex inside and the one for the gpad 8 and vzw G4 do not. I don't know if it is irrelevant because the Gpad 8 works and the G4 doesn't.
If someone from Vzw wants to send me their lge res apk so we can test it on theirs since it's the only model.in which wise screen is already installed(not active)
Okay, so it is calling the camera. The thing is though, Lg upped the resolution on the front camera and every version of smart screen is looking for a smaller resolution than available so it doesn't open.. "Can not find". Might have to edit the resolution capabilities in smart screen, but I don't know about all that. Just brainstorming here.
Okay, well I've tried 3 different face detecting apps and none of them work on the G4. It seems none of them can tie into the camera. Currently I'm at a stalemate.
Making slight progress. Was able to give it it's own sub category, but still not working..
One idea
Hi guys
In ROMS of LG G5 then the option/ app in 64 bit architecture,
If so that import to any Rom for LG G4 be will can run.
Anyone can try?? Me can't because not have idea only surget quest.u
Sorry for my English
Recent Honor/ Huawei Phones come with some cool Fingerprint Gestures that can be used to Show Notifications, Recent Apps and Hit Back. All this just by performing Simple up/down Gestures on Fingerprint Sensor!
So far I haven't seen this functionality on any Rom. As a matter of fact not even on Other Phones (could be wrong it's a big big world )
Anyway, would love to see someone implement this feature in their roms for our beast, or an Xposed module for all the folks with other devices.
Make fingerprint sensor cool again!! This shows that it can be used to do more that just unlocking your phone!
Hope to see it soon. :good: :fingers-crossed:

I would like to see that feature too, but it unfortunately may be (or even is) hardware dependant, which would mean that it will never come to our devices.

From my OnePlus 6t? I'm really just curious about how smooth the overall experience is. I already know, that the camera, battery life, and multitasking will be an upgrade. And the size of the phone doesn't bother me. But I'm a little hesitant just because I was hoping for a faster refresh rate (not a deal breaker), and because of LG's terrible reputation for updates and software fixes. So I gues my question is this.. How is the overall software performance in terms of smoothness, fluidity, and just overall performance?

I'll be honest there are some bugs that will be addressed with an update(when ever that is) but over all even without 90hz refresh rate this phone is a BEAST. I get 12 hours of screen on time with moderate use, quick charge 4.0 is quite good on this device even for its big battery, the screen is beautiful and the cameras are definitely awesome. The bugs aren't bad enough to take away from the overall experience but you'll notice some things such as phantom touches, wifi doesn't auto connect all the time, and the app drawer doesn't auto arrange apps but i'm happy. Also, audio quality is INSANE!

Thank you. This might seem like a ridiculous question but does the stock launcher have the ability to swipe down the notification shade from anywhere on the screen? Not a big deal, bit I've heard that it doesn't and that seems like such a stupid oversight for such a big phone. Also can I get rid of the app drawer icon, but still use the app drawer? In other words, remove that icon, and just swipe up to enter the app drawer? Neither is a deal breaker, but just things I've been curious about since I'm unable to go to a store and get a "hands on" with the device right now
swiping down anywhere brings down the content search, also yes you can choose to have swipe up or dock icon or just have apps on the home screen
here are some screen shots

I use Lawnchair now, but I'm on a custom ROM. I'd prefer not to use it on stock because I prefer the navigation gestures, and they are wonky on 3rd party launchers without root, or so I'm told

correct. I have a LG G8 and gestures are very wonky on third party launchers. If you absolutely wanna use gestures then you have to resort to using a 3rd party gesture app like Fluid Navigation Gestures.
I recently moved from the OnePlus 6t to this phone. Since both phones are 60 hz, I don't miss anything there. I love having the pen functionality and stereo speakers, and games are completely better with the dual screen even if I don't play much. I thought I always had great battery on the OnePlus, but it is even better with the V60. Last charge cycle I got about 10 hours screen on time, about 2-3 hours more than on my 6t. One of my main reasons for going back to LG (I previously owned LG V20 and V30) was the headphone jack and sound quality. I have extra dongles just to use my headphones. I constantly swipe down though when trying to open the notification shade, so I just wish that function were there. Got a security update today, actually ahead of my OnePlus phone at the moment, but I know software updates will be a major letdown. This hardware is fantastic though! You will surely enjoy this phone as an upgrade to the OnePlus 6t imo...

If you're not on Android 10, I believe it's not broken
I went from a rooted LG V30+ to an unrooted LG V60 (both with AT&T), and I absolutely love this phone so far.
I mean, yeah, the V30+ is pretty old, so there's no way this wasn't going to be an upgrade in just about every category, but I'm still very, very pleased with the phone.
On the V30+ (which at the time I was using it, was still stuck on Android 8), I replaced LG's crappy Home Launcher with Nova Launcher Prime and added Fluid Navigation Gestures (since there were no stock gestures on Android 8).
I'm happy to report that with a quick permission granted via ADB, Nova Launcher + FNG are working exactly as they did on the V30+, even without root. This includes hiding the Navigation Bar (which is what I accomplished via that ADB permissions thing). And of course, Nova lets you swipe down from anywhere to pull down the notifications shade, and swipe up to pull up your Apps panel. You can set up similar triggers with FNG, but I find that's unnecessary.
I'm completely ignoring Android 10's stock gestures, as I got so used to FNG and it's just so damn pretty besides. I'm also circumventing any conflicts that may exist with stock Android 10 gestures and third-party launchers. Hell, I was even able to backup my V30's Nova Launcher settings and screen/icon pack and layouts to Google Drive and restore that backup on the V60 without any issue whatsoever (once I reinstalled all the apps I wanted, of course).
I couldn't be happier. This will be the first Android phone ever I don't root, and frankly, I don't think I'll even miss it!
Oh, and for what its worth, the phone came from AT&T with the February 2020 Android security patch, and a few days ago, an April 2020 security patch came down the pipe.
Coming from the V30, I'm VERY well aware how awful LG's software update release schedule is, so consider me pleasantly surprised.

Yeah I've used nova off and on for years, it actually works fine without adb but I've noticed if try to open a "pop up window" it works, but then it breaks the recents menu and you have to reset it. Will using these adb commands fix that? I'm out of the loop on it because my 6t was rooted and running a custom ROM so I didn't have to deal with it

I have never used a pop-up window and honestly don't know what that is. I don't think that existed on my LG V30.
And I probably should have been more specific. I used ADB to grant Fluid Navigation Gestures an extra permission that allows it to hide the Navigation Bar without root access.
I don't think I needed to grant Nova any permissions via ADB. But I should run through Nova's settings and double-check.
My V30 was also rooted, though I stuck with the stock ROM. So I'm new to the whole "permissions via ADB" thing, but find that it's a viable work-around.
The important thing is that it persists through reboots, so it's a set-it-and-forget-it kind of thing.
I'll test the pop-up window thing and report back.
Edit - I just tried using Chrome and WhatsApp simultaneous via the pop-up windows functionality, dragged them around the screen, dismissed them, etc., and had absolutely no issues whatsoever triggering the Recents panel with Fluid Navigation Gestures. I even set up new pop-up windows and used FNG to pull up Recents and close the pop-ups with the Clear All button. Again, no issues. But I'm using FNG to power all of my navigation gestures minus the swipe down from anywhere for the Notifications Shade and swipe up for All Apps, which I let Nova handle.
And thanks for inadvertently teaching me something new! I may actually use these pop-up windows going forward!
Thanks for explaining that to me. I'm not using FNG just Nova. So maybe that's why it screws up the recents for me. It's not a big deal to me just something that I noticed. But I would like to be able to use a 3rd party launchers without bugs like this.

So here's a ROM that i would recommend even tho it's in beta Corvus OS it's android 12 and everything works even the Camera but sadly not the greatness of Sony's Camera app...i personally haven't tried it with the Custom Kernel Kirisakura just yet but i will and report back on here if they place nice together...Magisk also works great with this ROM you just have to be careful what you flash...
Hopefully our device will be fully supported soon.
Just putting down some thoughts here.
Double tap to wake is borked, the setting already hints that it is unlikely to work and I can confirm this.
Forcing native res works rather poorly. On reboot I need to reset the dpi to make the GUI play nice, but some things remain iffy. Such as:
Gesture navigation still thinks preview windows should be the lower res, not native (looks poor, see attached images)
Some random visual glitches that cause a silent crash + restore, it's not critical but you can see it happening
No built-in battery health (as in limiting it), have to use something external (AccA)
Camera quality is way worse compared to stock. I don't mind as much as I don't care a lot, but quality regression is very significant (if I have to quantify it, I would accept 20-30%, but this feels more like 60%)
The GCAM's I've found that don't immediately crash (not many) all have serious bugs
No camera app found that plays nice with front camera, hope you weren't planning on taking pictures with the front camera
Edit: For 6 you can actually use the native app. Performance is super bad though.
To not sound too much like a downer I'll also put in some "niceties" compared to stock.
Holding volume button to seek is now native
OTA work again
Good visual eyecandy for charging, locking and more
No bloatware galore
Much much finer control over lots of little things, especially status bar is very nice
Other things:
The default launcher is a bit lacking, so I installed Nova 7, but this still has some shenanigans with force reloading and short unresponsiveness with gesture navigation. Very annoying, but I'm quite sure this is not the fault of the ROM. Just hoped this was improved (suggestions welcome)
If someone found a good GCAM please share, the ones I've found are either broken or seriously lacking.
It seems that sometimes the phone does not respond to my finger until I press the button. This could be intentional to prevent accidental unlocks / phone being locked for X seconds because lots of "bad" fingerprints detected.

Yeah, this is why I've been very hesitant to install to install GSI ROMs, all the issues I've mentioned are because the X1 III is not the same as most other devices.
Wake to tap? Device specific thing.
Native res issues? X1III specific.
No built in battery health? Not device specific, devs pls
Camera issues? Device specific.
I think I'll drop the higher res as that will remove the most jarring of issues. The camera is whatever as it will not improve by switching to PE and double tap to wake is meh. Annoying at worst.

Alright some more shenanigans and needing to do a clean install further I do know some more things now.
1. is still broken, I'll try flashing a different kernel perhaps.
2. It's actually not so bad. It will remember and auto apply on reboot after a couple seconds. Gesture and notification bar may be slightly borked, but that's fixed fast by reloading system UI and switching between gesture and button navigation. The thing about recents has been resolved by switching to a different launcher with it's own quickswitch (lawnchair).
3. Acca works fine.
4/5/6 Nothing.
Another update.
2 is fine. Just don't use the built in launcher while forcing 4k. Just use lawnchair or something (+ quickswitch).
On another note, automatic brightness does NOT appear to work. This is quite the massive issue. I'm honestly a bit baffled how I haven't noticed until today.
AOD is also quite broken, while the phone is on the wireless charging and being ratiod to 90% it will continously blink. That's super annoying as I normally use AOD to check if I got a message, if it blinks it takes my attention, effectively defeating the entire purpose of AOD. *Groan*
These issues are really starting to stack up by now, I'm seriously considering reverting to stock. I'm really worried something else won't be working once I need it in the future.

It's available in stock but it has never worked correctly. The proximity sensor doesn't disable it! There's a "Prevent accidental operations with screen off" setting as the world's dumbest work-around. That puts a keyboard and alert on the screen while you're walking. It stops emergency butt-dialing but the battery still runs down.

A what now? I do recall the proximity sensor not working really well with dt2w but at least it worked and I didn't notice some significant battery drain.
I did see some things about dt2w being disabled because the touch interface is powered when the screen is powered and this can't be decoupled. I'm not sure if this applies to this phone though.
Regardless, it shouldn't really matter as the X1 III is an OLED screen anyways. So as long as it's full black it should be fine(?)
I'm not asking for the perfect solution and if battery drain slightly increases that's a worthwhile investment to me. At least provide the option. Don't decide what I want because it has potential side-effects (just warn or something lol).
Actually I'm going out on a limb and stating that dt2w should be enabled by default if the device's screen is an OLED screen. Overlay and device specific things be damned.
