How Can I Flash the December security update in my magisk rooted device? If I tray the "normal" way it gives me an error.
Hi. I had the same problem. Tried with restoring stock rom without wipe, but no go. Still error.
I ended up backing up my stuff and flashed stock with wipe, and then everything went well.
After your procedure what boot.img you use to reinstall magisk?
Usually when the bootloader is unlock is impossible to install any official update.
In that case I have the same problem, and I think the solution is to lock the bootloader, try to apply the update and to see if root still works. ( I am sure not).
In other case is, unlock the bootloader again, to wait the official ROM with December patch, extract boot.img, rebuild it with magisk and install it with fastboot and wait the final result.
Is crazy but while there is not another solution is a good way to have root on this Moto One.

I booted up twrp and made a backup of boot.img, then patched it and flashed with fastboot.

Make a backup of boot in twrp.
Go to backup folder and make a copy of it somewhere. Rename the copy from "boot.emmc.win" to "boot.img".
Open Magisk manager, select install, choose "patch boot image file" and select the boot.img-file to patch.
It will unpack, patch and repack the boot.img for magisk functionality.
Move the patched_boot.img to pc and flash it with fastboot. "fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img".
Reboot, open Magisk manager. It should now ask to continue with environmental setup.
Or if you have the firmware package, you could just extract boot.img from it, put it on phone and patch it instead of using boot from twrp back up.
So hey! I successfully booted into the TWRP and used it to flash the DISABLEFORCEENCRYPTION file, right after. I decided to reboot to recovery (Cause I think that would be great just after you flash something in TWRP) but then after it finishes showing the pocophone booting screen rather than showing TWRP recovery. It showed the stock MIUI recovery! someone please help! I just finished flashing magisk and a custom rom by using the method of: Everytime I need to flash something using TWRP I would just open adb and fastboot boot recovery it again so that I could use the TWRP!

I decided to fix this problem after I flashed a rom cause I think I would run into future problems involving magisk and it's use of the TWRP recovery.

If you already have the ROM installed, use adb to flash TWRP and without booting flash Magisk and then boot to system. If you are on stock ROM, follow THIS.
For entering into TWRP, use the key combination of volume up + power buttons.
You can use the encryption compatible TWRP (search for it) instead of the official one.
Hi everyone, I am recently registered on this site. from some days I have the desire to do the Root on the miui global stable, it is consequently on my beloved Xiaomi Mi 8, the problem is: when the device is turned off I turn on the device pressing it under volume key + ignition key at the same time to enter in recovery mode, the latter makes me enter in "Official" mode, in the sense that it does not let me enter twrp mode where there are install, settngs, advacend options, backup ... but in the official one with only 3 buttons: wipe , connect to mi account ... So I thought of flashing the twrp via fastboot, I finally entered it, but the problem is that when I go to Install, to install the root, I can't do that, because characters (alphanumeric) appear long and randomly, so I can't identify which folder I put the Magisk on, it appears in both folders and subfolders. somewhere I read to install a zip file called LazyFlasher, to avoid possible blocking at startup, in fact I try before installing this zip file, with various combinations (first rom, then magisk, both rom and magisk, first magisk then rom , first rom that gate at the end the cache then magisk) but all fail, so I am forced to flash through fastboot with the tool I flash, because at every start it always took me back to twrp without the possibility of moving, it seems that the touch does not respond at the user's commands. So I know that this LazyFlasher file causes me to "bypass" this problem, give me confirmation ??. Thank you. PS: so far I haven't managed to install the Magisk root yet, can you give me a hand, maybe the twrp has some problems? or is my device not compatible with this version of twrp ??, I tell you that in the past with the miui global beta it didn't give me this problem. Have you even unlocked your bootloader? If not look for the official Xiaomi tool, it's the only way how you are able to flash twrp and root your phone.

Thanks for the reply, I solved everything, unlocked BL, installed twrp (no stock) and installed root. but I have a problem, when I installed the root, every time I want to restart the device for a series of reasons (slowness, delete cache, rest ...) it starts in twrp not in the system, so I have to delete everything it's starting again. I heard that the LazyFlasher file makes it possible to remedy this problem, essentially it allows you to bypass the security of android to avoid bootloap, and I hope it also corrects this problem (which when I reboot the device, I want to install a zip file, I it always starts in twrp), but during the flash of this zip (LazyFlasher) I get an error: the Updater process ended with error: 1 Error installing zip '/sdcard/lazyflasher-no-verify-opt-encrypt.zip. Flash a DM-Verity No-Encryption ZIP to remove encryption and disable the Verity check. OR if you want to keep encryption and root -flash a 3rd party Kernel like MiPa or Sphinx after Magisk.

thank you. in the past I flamed DM-Verity No-Encryption ZIP to remove encryption and disable Verity checking. in fact after immediately this zip I put magisk. at the access of the dispay I saw a magisk icon, so it means root installed successfully. but the problem is: when I reboot the device to clear the cache ... or install a module on the magisk, it always starts in twrp, so I have to start all over again. there is a way to keep cryptography and root, without any booting going into twrp but into the system. thank you

Flash ROM and Keep Encryption:
Flash TWRP
Boot into TWRP and flash MIUI ROM
Flash TWRP again (select flash image, then select recovery partition, then select recovery file)
Flash DM-Verity ZIP here-->: DM-Verity (Make sure 'DM-Verity' file is the ONLY thing the file is named. The filename triggers what is installed during flash)
Flash MAGISK
Flash 3rd Party Kernel (I prefer MiPa or Sphinx found in other threads)

As far as I understand, you are having problems while booting into TWRP. You should boot into TWRP right after flashing it, and boot into OS once again and reboot to recovery. It should work. If you see the stock recovery, keep flashing TWRP. If you want to temporarily flash it, use "fastboot boot TWRP.img" command.

No problems booting into TWRP.
You can use "fastboot.exe flash recovery twrp.img"
Then reboot phone and hold volume-up+power. When booting until TWRP appears. If you miss it and it tries to boot it will overwrite it. But I've never had issues otherwise.

both methods don't work, the first one gives me error when I install kernel, the second one on startup gives me a lot of error
I managed to install the root, doing the following steps: flash twrp via fastboot, copy the files to the internal memory, install rom files, install magisk files, install dm-verify, then reboot, and it works perfectly. but I have some problems: when I reboot the device, it starts in twrp not in the system, and therefore I am forced to do it again. help me !! kernel replacement gives me error, both

You should not have errors flashing a kernel. Maybe you should flash all partition images from fastboot. Or maybe wrong recovery? What version are you using?

I followed in this guide "https://clk.ink/7q4SUR" but instead of installing Disable_Dm-Verity_FEC_v1.1.zip I downloaded Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_09.02.2018.zip, is it the same ?, also I saw that, when I go inside the magisk, and I click on uninstall> restore image, a warning appears "there is no original boot image", I also executed this command in powershell "fastboot getvar current-slot" but I get a "GetVar Variable Not found" error. I accidently upgraded my phone to Android 10 11.0.14 ( prehaps ). I want to install TWRP on this phone, and I attempted to install it without flashing the boot img, and it caused to entirely be bricked and stuck on fastboot, and I did also attempt to change the slot, but ****** off. I tried using MiFlash, ****** off, reinstall, ****** off. I still kept my OnePlus rom and I succeed to install and normally use it, and it still remained TWRP. I installed the stock rom for it cuz Oxygen is so unstable, and I did, but the TWRP is lost. I reinstalled it, but it bricked, again. I entered TWRP, wipe all data, and enter again, but lost TWRP. I figured that I did miss flashing boot img, thanks to a thread I accidently read. And I also figured how stupid I was when I just did upgraded my phone to the latest version, and there is no boot img compatible to that version, and I did searched entire internet for it. I didnt try to flash the boot img of the early version cuz I am afraid it bricked again cuz of the compatibility. So when will I expect for a boot img file to flash TWRP and when can I download and use it? Or technically I dont need that boot img file and just simply change the slot and flash it? Ty.

Hang on. What do you mean by TWRP is already installed ? Does it mean that boot img file already contained TWRP or I do need to install it as a boot img to get the phone boot and work normally?
And btw, is installing SHRP Recovery an opinion or a must?

the boot img already contain twrp, and the boot img should be able to boot your rom (stock android 10) and no shrp is not a must you can use any recovery you like, but if you want to keep your recovery after installing a rom you have to install the recovery installer zip

I was also stuck like this so i flashed that boot img rebooted and everything came back.
Good evening dear members, I ask for your kind advice, as I have done something wrong to my Oneplus 5t.
I upgraded my Oneplus 5t with "lineage for microG" 19.1 (from lineage 18).
I had installed TWRP 3.5.0_9 (phone encrypted).
It booted fine the first time into system.
The problem arose after I tried to install Magisk 21.4 from TWRP.
Now the phone only boots in recovery, but it doesn't enter TWRP's menu. It stays on the first TWRP screen (where it shows the version number).
The good thing (I hope) is that I can enter fastboot mode.
I tried flashing TWRP again from fastboot to no avail.
I tried flashing boot.img from fastboot (taken from the original firmware), but still no luck.
Is there a way to install the original firmware from fastboot?
I think starting from scratch would be a step into the right direction.
Please give any suggestion which I fill follow to the letter.

You have to be decrypted or flash DMverity for A12. I assume You mean Magisk 24.1 the current version is 24.3
Hi. This is what I did:
I downloaded and installed original firmware through fastboot (fastboot was still on).
I also installed original recovery through fastboot.
After that my oneplus 5t was in stock condition, apart from the bootloader, which was unlocked.
After that I managed to install TWRP through fastboot, and then lineage 19.
The thing is that TWRP doesn't support lineage 19, for one reason or another. Or it could be the other way around (lineage 19 doesn't support TWRP). In any case I had a phone which would only go in fastboot mode.
At least I knew what to do, as I did it already: reinstall stock firmware and recovery.
Long story short, I installed LOS recovery and lineage 19, and everything works fine.

It wont boot cus your encrypted formatting data will allow op5t to boot.

I need to root so I can titanium backup everything. but I can't root. I suspect I might need to fully format and wipe and start again, I tried wiping data and doing a fresh install, but after sideloading magisk it just fails to boot every time now.
Does it boot regularly BEFORE installing magisk? I am trying to define the source of the problem.

Yes. It boots fine if I just install lineage then nevermindthegapps. problem only occurs if I flash magisk. I tried installing the .apk and patching the .boot image manually in it and then fastboot flashing that, but same thing.
oh - one possible thing that it may be - is that I had a couple of modules loaded (I think a gcam fix mod and something similar) in magisk, and I read somewhere about people having them stuck 'installed' despite demoving all traces of magisk app. whether that is the problem I don't know.
This is very strange. That's what I did:
Sideload lineage recovery
Sideload lineage 19
Download magisk apk
Patched boot image from lineage 19.zip
Sideload the patched boot image
And that's it it all worked
May I suggest you to start all over again?
is wiping system data sufficient or do I need to format it? I'd rather not lose my appdata- but I can't rescue it without root / titanium backup :/
Try first without formatting, and see how it goes
I wiped system/cache, installed lineage-19.1-20220719-nightly-dumpling-signed.zip / mindthegapps, phone booted up fine - rebooted fine.
ok, good. Now download latest magisk app and patch the boot img.

Yes.
First extract the file called boot.img from lineage.zip you just installed.
Then in magisk select "patch vbmeta in image".
Magisk should produce a file named something like " magisk_pached-24300_f41h3.img".
That patched file should be sideloaded.

it wouldn't flash without selecting vbmeta, so tried with, flashed it, now i'm sitting looking at the boot logo.
