Hi,
I followed your instructions, but my God damned Windows 8.1 doesn't see my God damned Android 4.4.2, so I "adb devices" command -- pc doesn't see my Android. "file transfer (MTP) files" command is useless.
Is there any of you in the whole wide world could help me?
My phone is in recovery mode can't boot stuck in boot loop.
Nobody answeres. This is said to be the best geeks' forum.
Sorry, I am disappointed, fed up, etc. as none of you give a damn about my f***ing problem.
Thx if any...
You could try using the latest adb and some universal driver ***,
but not much use from ADB really, if it has a stock recovery Then also
making update zip s could be problematic... signing...
Best to try contacting the manufacturer or seller, what ever, and try to get the firmware + tools.

If no luck, try to find out its soc. You could even try to open the damn thing...
Or just assume it's a MTK. If so -> MTK drivers, DroidTool, Wwr, SP_FlashTool, etc..
and make a backup. Worked ok? Good! Now find someone having the same piece of...
and ask her to do the same and share his system...
Good luck! :fingers-crossed::good:
*** For example this installer of mine. Contains universal adb driver and adb/fastboot downloader

Taking a full backup first might be a good idea.
SP_Flashtool should do the trick. You probably
can use the scatter file from that rom dump.
Or make your own: https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-21970.html

Though you should be able to fix that damn thing now...
:victory:
Thank you so much for making such a hard effort to help me! ?
I'll do my best and will keep you informed.
Partitions "nvram" and in in my case also "pro_info" are important backups.
Nvram contains IMEI values etc... anyway it can be important to save it/them.
And pro_info might have some extra values defined in it. At least if the device
has some faked firmware showing wrong hardware values like in my case.
Then there might be some real values needed, defined there along with the faked ones...
I'm no MTK expert but managed to fix my tablet by restoring those partitions...
Ehh!
I've read all the info you linked. ????
OMG!
Well, I guess that I should download the rom.
After that do I have to do all the instructions?
How will my pc be able to see my phone?
I need no data backup.
I swear I got in touch with the store in which I bought the data cable and asked if it is really a data cable and not just a charging one.
I can do anything I just need to know the steps to be taken one by one.
There is no way to see the system files on my dead phone to be able to delete the rest files of SELinuxModeChanger?
Thanks for your kind reply in advance!

1. I can relate your "shock". That Wwr route isn't the easiest one, I can imagine.
Haven't done it myself. Maybe that SP_FlashTool + scatter file is enough for
the backup. If you have those IMEI numbers saved you probably can skip
the backup, but as I said I'm no expert, so you might want to do some
Googling before deciding anything...
2. Install the MTK drivers (search). any tool will need them too.
3. IDK. Maybe someone else has an answer to this?
Checked. The stock recovery doesn't use test keys, so making update zip is not possible.

Checked SELinuxModeChanger's info - and its source code too.
It shouldn't do any writing that factory reset wouldn't remove.

Easiest would be that the vendor would give you a full OTA/recovery update zip package.
(Not such that just patches the old one. ) That most likely would fix it.

Yep. Thanks.
Well, actually the antivirus Zemana asked if I wanted to make SELinuxModeChanger a part of the system/a system file. I agreed. I made the wrong decision. I used ES File Manager to delete SELinuxModeChanger. Well, I succeeded in half... but failed to delete it from all system maps and couldn't reinstall it again. Rebooted... The rest is history...
I guess phone thinks that it has a corrupted system and that's why it doesn't boot.
Navon... They never ever update. No system security patches ever.
Actually, 1 yr ago I had a problem nobody was able to help. I was advised to take my phone to Navon asking for refurbishing. I had no money and I wanted to fix the problem myself anyway. It took a year, but I found out how to fix it. ES File Manager was the key.

I guess it will be a hard effort to make my phone work again. I seem to give it up. Unfortunately, sending the phone to Navon for refurbishing... would cost too much and phone must be sent by post (!!!). It is a great phone, but customer service at Navon is...

Factory Reset doesn't work. I mean that in Recovery Mode it doesn't matter how many times I do Factory Reset nothing happens.
I have no twrp. Only KingRoot was able to root my phone. TWRP said my phone not compatible with it.

While you're are letting go, you could read some stuff linked below. Good
instructions. What to do and what not to do. (Unlike at that "getdroidtips"
site I linked earlier. Some of the tips and articles there are total rubbish.
Mixed stuff copied somewhere else, I guess. Some might work, but not all.
Also they use wrong words in article names to get better Google rankings.)
SP Flash Tool + MediaTek MT65xx drivers download and installation guide including bricked devices
Download MTK Drivers (32 & 64 bit) XP Vista Win7 Win8
Windows 10 MTK VCOM USB Drivers for 32 & 64 bit + Drivers installation tutorial (Might be useful with win8 too.)
Download SP Flash Tool v3 & v5 – Latest versions ( Tip: read to the end)
Remove, Disable & Uninstall MTK USB Drivers and inactive COM Ports – USBDeview (if having driver problems)
(And I also sent you some info in Hungarian already in the previous post. Backup etc.)
Again. just for fun sake, I tried again if my MTK tablet/phone would be recognized by SP flash tool.
No luck. Previously it wasn't a problem. Still, the adb/fastboot works okay.
So, some problem with MTK drivers. I have used SP_Flashtool, BeTools,, even older ones
like WiseLinkTool. And maybe some that were between those two.
Well, I don't have any good reason to fix those driver problems at the moment,
everything works ok, but still it kind of sucks.
Anyway adb/fastboot works okay. And that is the problem mentioned originally in the title.
So, does the fastboot work?
With fastboot, if it works, you might be able to boot some modified recovery without flashing and then maybe do some backups etc.
My adb driver package, mentioned in my signature has some options to remove the
old adb installations and the old (maybe problematic) values from the registry...
USBDeview is better choice in some situations though...

I have a ZTE Avail 2 which I recently managed to root with Cydia Impactor. Afterwards I managed to screw it up by removing too many stock apps with Titanium. I did it carefully, one by one, and for a few days everything seemed to work fine. But then apps started force-closing, '<name of app here> has stopped working', etc. Factory reset doesnt help, it just restores me to the same screwed up state I'm in now. I already know why, it's because I removed some of the stock apps, which I now realize it needs. I'm currently stuck on the AT&T logo when powering on, it never gets any further. But even while it was messed up it was still halfway-operable, and now this. This device's subforum on Android Forums is all but non-existent, and XDA doesnt seem to have anything for it.
What I need is a 100% stock ROM (pre-rooted if possible) that I can flash, along with instructions on how to flash it. I have some experience flashing ASUS devices and Samsung devices, mainly the Transformer pad, and the Note 2, but have also rooted miscellaneous other devices in the past without alot of issues. But I have no experience with ZTE. I've already checked the manaufacturer's website for some kind of recovery software I can use to restore it, there doesnt seem to be anything.
Thanks for any help!

did you ever get around to doing this? there is supposedly a stock image on androidforums but when I opened the Zip, all it had was the stock apps, no build.prop, which I think I blew away with xblast (xposed plugin). now I hang on the boot screen image. there is a stock Rom for the z993 our there, which I suppose I could use, because they are supposed to be the same phone, just different carriers... but then I need to get the at&t apn's and it is just a PITA. so if you could post /system backup or just a stock build.prop, that would be great!
(I'd post links to these rooms but I guess I'm too new of a member... I can provide them if needed.)
I'm way late on this, but just thought I'd post to say that I no longer have the device, and I was never able to fix it.In any case, I hope the rest of you guys get it fixed. It seemed to be a halfway decent phone, although a bit sluggish at times. But beyond that, with all the bloat removed, I'd say it ran pretty well for the duration of time that I had it (less than a month). I currently have a GNote 3 (T-Mobile) and a GNote Pro 12.2" now and it's just awesome, I'm really loving them.
Sorry, accidental double-post (can't figure out how to delete this post, the "Edit/Delete" button doesnt appear to have any option to entirely delete a post).

There is a working custom Rom for the z993 (identical hardware, different customized software for AIO, another cell provider). All you will need to do is change/update the data provider stuff so you can still use 3g and mms's. Plenty of info on this online on what needs to be changed.
You can get this Rom over at androidforums.com

There is also a cwm recovery there that works on this phone, and a partial /system backup by someone else for the z992... it is just apps and what not.
If they aren't available anymore, let me know and ill see if I still have them saved somewhere for you.

I was wondering if I can just simply place the rom zip on the root of your sdcard and continue without doing "Install CWM - ZTE Prelude (Z993) Root&Recovery" step???
Honestly I have absolutely no idea how to do CWM steps as they come so complicated to me.

Thnx Alex
I would highly appreciate if anyone tell me what ADB Driver I should use for ZTE Z992. I almost understood all the procedure in the links but now the problem is despite I tried different ADB Drivers, but still ADB reboot-bootloader boots phone again in Normal bootloader.
Also Fastboot devices command does not see the phone, while ADB Devices command see it.
Seems bootloader is locked. Right? What should I do?
This is the method I used when I rooted my avail2 :
http://androidforums.com/zte-avail-2-zte-prelude/821217-how-root-zte-avail-2-z992-guide.html
The author (and I) just used the included drivers from zte that come with the phone. From what I remember, fastboot worked fine. Just hold the volume down button then turn the phone on. It will seem to lock on the start screen, but this is the bootloader. Then connect your cable and try your fastboot commands.
If you are already rooted, you can just download the package here
http://androidforums.com/prelude-all-things-root/797487-cwm-recovery-installer-zte-prelude.html
And skip the middle section, using the impactor to root (13 and 14).
Depending on what's wrong with your phone, you could also try just using the stock recovery and doing a system reset there. It will wipe any bad custom settings, but if the rom is still viable it might get you up and running again. It got me out of a bootloop without re-romming the whole thing. And with titanium backup or system app mover you can reinstall anything you need in the system partition.

A bit to much fiddling resulted in disaster
Hello XDA forum users,
I'm about ready to toss this phone in the trash. I have an AT&T Avail 2 with model number z992, which is apparently manufactured by a company called ZTE. First I think it would be helpful to explain what I've done to the phone and perhaps others out there can tell me if I've destroyed the phone or if it can be fixed.
A friend of mine sold me the phone for 10 bucks, its in great condition which is why its such a shame that it seems perma-bricked. I have no need for the phone aspect of the device, I simply wanted to "convert" it to a handheld media/application player, like an ipod or tablet for example. The phone comes with several bundled software applications that I find completely useless and wanted them removed, EX. AT&T Navigator and other AT&T software, plus a bunch of google applications.
The first thing I did when I decided to try and customize it was to use Kango's root tool which worked and rooted the phone. I was all excited that it worked and continued by installing the Super User application which allowed me to gain full control over the device. (I should have stopped there.) After the successful phone root I then installed a 3rd party app called NoBloat and used its uninstall options to remove a lot of stuff. I couldn't tell you exactly what all was removed but looking back, it must have been more important than I realized at the time. I know I took out all the AT&T software, then all the Google stuff to, which destroyed the play store. I didn't take out anything that seemed like a system file but apparently the Google stuff is the system files. The phone still worked in this state but it was erratic and things like Contacts would crash even if it was not running. So I considered that a failed attempt and commenced to do a factory reset using the recovery menu (Vol Up + Menu Key + Power button) but the factory reset didn't work, well not like it was supposed to. I had used the restore option before and it made the phone work like it was brand new. Now when the phone is powered on it will boot to the initial setup and ask me to choose a language, then it will get as far as the wireless connection screen (sometime not even that far) and the phone reports that "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped." and then I tap OK and the setup wizard restarts at the language screen. This is the state it is in now and I do not know how to fix it, I'm beginning to think there currently is no method to fix this.
Things I've tried so far include installing minimal ADB-Fastboot to try and sideload various ROM images, the ones I found here and other places. The phone is not recognized by Windows 7 though and the ADB does not work like it did on a motorola phone I did this to before. I've also purchased an inexpensive 8GB microSD chip with an adapter so I could put the ROM info on that and tried the "Update from external storage option" and that seems like it would work but none of the ROM's I've used will install. I guess because there is some kind of security feature built into the phones hardware which checks the data files for specific tags/sizes and therefore won't accept any of the ROMS I've tried.
There is no means to access the old file system anymore like most guides show, I do not have any CWM's installed nor any backup data whatsoever. It's been reset and now it seems the data it used to restore itself is, while not completely missing, damaged and will not reload anymore. All the guides I've read or watched usually show the user in the operating system or using software on a PC to type out commands. None of that works on this phone though, the phone as I just described it is basically bricked. Is there anything that can fix this, or is the phone a paper weight now? A functional ROM image from AT&T seems unlikely as they have absolutely no relevant information about this on the commercial website and the help and support seems like it's setup for old people who don't understand technology at all. If anyone out there has experience with issues like this then by all means let me know. If more information is necessary then I will be glad to provide it if available.
Alright I did manage to figure out how to make the computer see the phone as an ADB device and the minimal ADB interface shows the device now when I type ADB devices at the command prompt. Though this ADB thing seems irrelevant considering I can do the same thing by using the SD card adapter. So I don't know if this was useful or not. The ADB prompt shows a device number of P752A15.
Before I was unable to make the device show up at all in the ADB list. The problem now is how to make the phone accept a ROM, at this point I don't even care if the ROM is the default factory ROM or some random ROM made by a devoted user. The issue I encounter each time is that the built in recovery option to restore from an SD card will not accept the ROM's I've tried so far, and my research on this seems to indicate that I need a custom recovery option. This is apparently called the ClockWorkMod but as to how I install that without a functional operating system on the device is a mystery still. I've tried using a file called recovery.zip and but it does not show up when I view the contents of the SD card when the card is in the phone.
I feel like an idiot because I've done this to other phones for my family and friends, you know jailbreaking an iPhone, and rooted a Galaxy S3 once but this phone seems like its not going to be as easy as those others. I guess AT&T made sure that if you alter it, it breaks the phone. I'll check back later and see if anyone has dropped a line or two here in response to my inquiry.

Thank you and have good day.

Ok, been a while since I've used this phone, but hopefully this will help. I assume you have the kaw202_recoveryflasher.zip file. Once you extract it, look for the .img file. Try running these adb commands
adb.exe push cwm-z993.img /cache
adb.exe shell "su -c 'dd if=/cache/cwm-z993.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17'
This should flash cwm if your phone is rooted and adb shell is working.

I have not come across that particular file yet, I did try to google it and the only results it had were two and one of those was this post. Would you mind telling me where I might find a copy of the kaw202_recoverflasher.zip?
I managed to find the zip you were talking about and have downloaded it, for anyone else looking for it. I am unable to post links but I would have linked to the files you mentioned. For others looking for the same zip file search for "CWM Recovery Installer ZTE PRELUDE". That's the title of the thread I found the file on that Alex mentioned above. The instructions on the page don't seem like they apply to the situation I'm stuck in but I'll give it a whirl anyway and see if the files work.
If this forum is like the others I've read through so far then there is no real answer to the issue. The phone seems kind of new and not many of the power users on these forums use rinky dink phones like this one. You guys all have the 600 dollar models I guess. What bugs me about this this phone and the state I managed to put it in, is that the damn thing was programmed the first time when it was made. So it seems to me like there should be a way to reprogram the phone the same way the factory did it. Think about it, when they make the phones they don't have any information on the phone at all. It's completely empty, so there must be a way to load the software for the phone even if the phone has no data at all in the main storage. If the files in the recovery flasher.zip file work then I'll post back the results but if it's like the other files I've messed around with (which didn't do anything) then I'm throwing it in the trash can.
Anyway thanks for your response and for pointing me in a different direction Alex

HELL YEAH!!! It worked thank you Alex,
I would have never figured this out without your help! The phone now has a version of CWM on it and the recovery menu is different. I just tried to install a ROM and it said successful. After the phone rebooted went back to the setup screen from ZTE but it still did the same thing. However this is progress and I should be able to "wander in the dark" and figure out a way to use the CWM to install a completely new rom. Any recommendations on a ROM to use for the z992?
Good news, I was able to fix it using the information Alex guided me to find. Since there doesn't appear to be a stock AT&T version of the ROM I ended up using the Azazel ROM. Which at first failed even though it was installed, this I determined was due to the old ROM image still being partially active on the system partition. So I formatted the system partition to and tried again. This time it worked and the phone seems fully functional again, and best of all the annoying bloatware is not present and the apps are not crashing. I consider this issue resolved. Thank you again Alex I will be sure to leave a thanks on your post.

Glad I could help, but none of the work was done by me, the guys over at android central did all the heavy lifting, I just pointed you in the right direction. I have a stock system e m image around here somewhere if you need it, tho installation will be a bit more complicated. If azazels rom ever gives you issues, ill dig it up and try and help you install it.

[update 2] I just summarized a way to backup and restore (all based on other great DEV's work, just put in one place) your TS before your play with your TS here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52820278#post52820278
Go check it if you plan to root your TS!
[update] With the help of cheahcl, I got the latest F/W for 4th List 1/8/2100. With the MTK SP_Flash_Tool, I was able to upload a corrected F/W for my TS and everything goes back to normal!
Thanks for cheahcl for his dump and Lokifish Marz for his All in one tools! You guys really saved my day! (and my TS).
A Quick summary: Do NOT use any method on XDA yet to root or change TWRP recovery! It seems the TS of 4th list is different in some way than the ones before which render most of stuffs here invalid. However, fear not to play around since now we have a way to go back to stock!
In my experience, I found that it's really difficult to truly brick a MTK based system. The system will just reject flashing at slightest sign that a F/W is not compatible. The only cache is you need to have the "correct" F/W specifically for your TS!
In my observation, OMate made changes between each delivery. For Example, the 4th list of 1/8/2100 is different in (At least F/W configuration) of the 3rd or earlier 1/8/2100.
------------------------below is my original story of what I tried and failed--------------------------
Just got mine (1/8/2100) 5 hrs ago! I am on the 4th list. The delivery in FAST!
The watch starts normally. I played with it for a while, than decided to root it, install TWRP and apply the security hack made by +Lokifish Marz
Now I have a brick! Just after 30 min I receive the watch!
<<Can anyone help me here?>>
First of all, in respecting to all great DEVs, I have NO intention to blame anyone else but myself. (I did this to my own watch!)
Second, I have been rooting Android since Cupcake day, so I am not a Noob... (or so I think...) I am very familiar with ADB/fastboot... and use almost daily.
So here is the guide to brick. If Anyone have any idea please help me out!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1st, I tried to use this tool to root+TWRP+scurity patch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2713183&page=2 knowing it's NOT tested against 1/8/2100. I just tried anyway... The script went with a lot of errors, it seems the script cannot locate correct files but still push the security patched files into the /system/app (and other places).
I turn on the watch, but it just stuck at boot logo (the orange "Truesmart" logo without animation)
Also, the Recovery is still stock, TWRP is no where to be seen.
Since ADB still works, I adb reboot couple times, pull the battery, let the watch run for 2hrs, etc... Nothing works. The watch just stuck at the boot logo.
Than I follow this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2641261 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2641261 with Stock firmware downloaded from http://d-h.st/users/Lokifish Marz/?fld_id=30814#files (Omate_1-8_2100_TrueSmart_20140328.zip)
I installed all drivers, restarts my Win 7 (x86) pc (several times), and after several attempts the Flashtool just flash in the Firmware.
The Tools flash with a green Check mark, indicating everything is ok!
However the watch just become a brick after this....
Than this completed the brick process! Now the watch won't even turn on, when I try to use Flash tool again, it always say S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL. Google this and you find it's due to flashing wrong F/W, but I don't know where went wrong!
Anyone else have same problem or it's just me? Anyone have solution?
You said everything...
You made mistake but that shouldn't be problem.
You soft brick it using wrong recovery image and root tool but as you said, you had adb and fastboot on - so if you know what are you doing and I see you know (except of that pary of flashing something that's not for your device .) you should be able to flash stock firmware back.
If you can flash another firmware, try with other firmware...
Don't know what else to say....
Omate build piece of sh*t and we'll all have problems with it...
It's very hard to differentiate devices.
All of them has same nr on mother boards and, as I said, we will all have problems with Omate and their TrueSh*t...

Ha! Very true! I think you are right! I believe Omate have many segmentation on their HW/SW, even with same model number.... A lot of things changes between versions which makes the "factory image" not compatible....
Anyone has the latest (4th list) 1/8/2100 TS who could dump their whole image for me would be helpful...
I would like to help you but mine is 2nd list and it's still on customs office...
Omate shipment experts, you just gotta love them....

Not sure what to tell you on this. A board revision change is possible as the Omate_1-8_2100_TrueSmart_20140328.zip was from a 1/8 2100. I can't even test stuff anymore as I gave one to a tech student that's studying network and system security and the other four were stripped down, reworked into data gathering modules and then donated to near space projects.

Thanks Lokifish for your comment... Is there anyway to get a latest F/W? If you know anyone I could contact, please PM me... Thanks!
Anyone have yet received a 1/8/2100 on 4th list could PM me a Factory F/W dump?
I tried another XP PC with all steps checked and rechecked but still... No luck...
Teach me how to do a dump and I'll dump it for you. I was also looking how to backup my stock firmware before playing around, seeing as no one has our version of firmware uploaded for restore yet.
Also received mine yesterday and firmware version is 20140513, pretty damn recent.
You guys are going to have to help each other out on this one. I've already deleted 90% of any and all Android dev stuff from my personal file server and computer. This includes tools, guides and work going as far back as the original HTC Evo.

Thanks a lot! First of all, Currently don't do anything posted on XDA yet since most of them will not work with this version of TS... (This is where I am now...)
First of all, please get all necessary tools directly from this post "All Tools" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734687 (Do NOT download or install any other things there!)
Follow those steps: (modified from link above)
1. Download "All Tools"
2. Install Universal ADB Drivers (included in All Tools) <--If you already have ADB up and running, it's not necessarily, then.
3. Enable USB Debugging on watch
4. Launch MTKDroid Tools
5. Connect watch to PC
6. Please follow the instruction from here: http://www.chinaphonearena.com/foru...up-MTK6592-MTK6589-MTK6577-and-all-MTK-Phones
a. Skip everything above and just starts from "B) Open ADB prompt to begin communication with the phone" .
b. Don't worry about the recovery thing... TS comes with a recovery which is not locked and you can do everything this article said with only stock recovery. (also no busy box is needed, nor su since TS run everything in root!)
c. You could also refer to the video guide below for details
7. it's okay to just provide the file you got after finishing the step "C) Read back the ROM with MTK Droid Tools" I should be able to do the Step D) and after myself.
Thanks a lot for your help!

The space was given to me for free as a recognized developer and contributor. Seeing that I have left development completely, it is not right that I continue to use the services. So at the end of the week the files will be purged and I will ask the xda remove my developer and contributor status.

I've done step D as well, good to just flash it I guess.
Let me know if it worked, before I start messing about. I'm not good in all these stuff. Been flashing since HD2 days but still, just a tutorial follower, can probably count Linux commands I know with 1 hand.

If you want to play around, please don't forge to back up your IMEI! since the MTK SP_Flash_Tool will wipe your IMEI!

Ive managed to get my brand new watch stuck in a bootloop after using framaRoot to root it. (I know, I know)
Now, I am able to boot into recovery mode or factory, and tried a factory reset. No luck, so i'm pretty sure the issue is in the /system partition.
Does anyone know if there are zip files somewhere that i can flash from recovery, to restore the system partition?
Device:
- 1GB / 8GB / 2100MHz Version
- Originally unrooted
- OUI 2.1
- Modem Ver: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V4, 2013/08/14 18:16
- No other modifications besides the rooting (which did work already before I rebooted)

The TS (or any MTK based system) does not use the usually "recovery backup/restore" way we familiar of, instead it goes the "special tool on PC backup/restore" method. You need ask people who receive their watch in around the same time as yours with same configuration to backup their watch FW with MTK tools than restore with said FW.
Basically what I had done in this thread!
Please follow my another guild to see how to do this...

Hi all, I have a TS 1/8/2100, firmware 20140513.
TWRP and Bluetooth tether ROM are available for firmware 20140328 only. Past conversations make me think there won't be any update soon.
A solution would be to install previous firmware, then TWRP, then update firmware. But partitions changed in between.
According to this SP Flash Tool can also physically format a partition if you can get a partition management table (PMT). The scatter file describes logical partitions, but it seems you can also add PMT. (After backup with MTKDroidTool, click "prepare Blocks for FlashTool")
Knowing this, provided that hardware is relatively unchanged, it could be possible for newest TS to enjoy TWRP happiness.
I would like to try, if someone could be kind enough to give me a stock backup for TS 1-8-2100 firmware 20140328 with PMT. (there sould be a file called MT6572_Android_scatter_emmc_PMT.txt)
I need you to help me help you to help me help you.

Well, the procedure is correct. It appears that PMT can be (or not) in scatter file without any difference in the filename. So you have to check by yourself, as I did, if you want to format. (look for many lines per partition, like 'physical_start_addr' and 'linear_start_addr')
You have to select "format+download" in "sp flash tools" to format everything (including preloader, so be carefull).
Take all precautions: Backup everything, including userdata and cache partition, because sp flash tools will ask for it if you have to format. Do not forget to backup nvram.
Doing this, I successfully formatted the TS and installed previous firmware, 20140328.
Sadly, the TS won't boot. Here lies my hope to get TWRP and bt tether ROM working without update from its creator...
So, back to firmware 20140513.
After the new format+backup, TS boot normally, but I had a "IMEI invalid" error. So, I used MTKdroidtools to restore nvram the same way I previously backed it up.
Complete 'format+download' is to be used if you messed up with partitions or if partitions changed.
Could be usefull, this was to let you know how.

Install last firmware known to be working with twrp.
Did that.
The device doesn't boot anymore.
Revert to previous backup.

I like to see things by myself.
It's not your firmware that's the problem. I'm running twrp on the latest firmware without issue.

Ok then, you win by default. Look at me asking a simple question while you obviously rather going back an forth playing fallacy pong. Please forgive me if I cut this short. I'll click on Thank You anyway.
Anyway to get back to the thread.. I've tried everything, booting in recovery, running MTK Droid Tools as Administrator, installing busybox again - but still no PMT file. I'm all out of ideas now..

That's OK. It appears that PMT can be (or not) in scatter file without any difference in the filename. (If you look in the file and see many lines per partition, like 'physical_start_addr' and 'linear_start_addr', you have PMT)
So I found what I was looking for, thank you.

No one is trying to win. I have a good deal of experience with MTK devices based on my researching various methods of backup/restore/flash/etc and I was offering a hand.
You can play one-person pong with yourself and claim fallacy all you want or you can get off your high horse.
Up to you. I have work to do.
TWRP Install on newest firmware + OTA
got watch on 7/26. did OTA. firmware date 5/27/2014. unable to install TWRP via any method including shell DD command. well it installs but on entry I just get on the old andy with red ! showing. It seems like a watchdog timers reboots it after a few minutes and all is back to the way it was.
Which TWRP did you use?
Hi
I have recently aquired a Gionee W909 from China,
its running a Mediatek MT6755.
Since this phone is currently only available in China, the stock rom AmigoOS sv1.2 is the only rom I can find for it. and its based on lollipop 5.1
The phone comes without any gapps at all. Since I am using this in North America, I need all the gapps installed.
Kingroot works on this phone, so my phone is rooted with kingroot, trying to install gapp
I have googled a few articles saying install google framework, login service, play service, and then install vending in system/app via RE, and then install play store.
all the methods relating to downloading the service/framework apk, and then putting vending in system, have all failed catastrophically.
all of these ends up with a "service" has stopped working, and "com.google.process.gapps has stopped", i've tried installing everything in system/app, or some in system/app, always made sure chmod is rw r r, and nothing worked.
I have also been trying to flash tk gapps and open gapps, downloaded ver 5.1 tried both 32 bit and 64bit. The stock recovery menu has an option to flash a zip onto it, it just doesnt read the tk gapps or the open gapps, the installation always terminate after a few seconds.
so i wanted to flash a twrp or a cwm recovery onto it, but there isnt one made for this phone yet, so i found another gionee phone, gn9007's twrp recovery which was on a chinese site, and tried to flash that in with its own one click flashing software. and it failed. Which seemed to me that boot loader is locked.
so I installed drivers and adb and fastboot.
when i tried fastboot oem unlock, the phone did prompt me and ask me if i wanted to unlock bootloader, and i pressed volume up/yes, and it gives me an error saying unlock operation is not allowed. none of the other flash oem commands work, such as flash oem device-info or flash oem get_identifier_token or get_unlock_data
so now im stuck trying to install gapps on this phone.
any idea is welcome.
thanks
Edit 1
today i tried using flashfire to flash the gapps zip file, and it didnt work, flashfire just stayed black screen for hours, even though the phone is rooted, theres no twrp or cwm made for it, is there any other way? I have also tried google installer made for MIUI, and ended up with service has stopped working, and com.google.process.gapps has stopped
bump ><
I hope you find a solution to this, I guess the phone has just come out. I really want to buy this phone, just need those gapps.

Hi. i am interested in getting the same phone as well. but waiting till you, or someone else finds a solution to the Gapps Problem. the solution would be simple enough i guess, but needs a Dev to work a bit on it.
i would like to ask a few questions to you though about the phone.
1. If your phone is rooted, have you as a temporary fix tried connecting your phone as USB and downloaded apk files from the internet and installing manually ??
2. i have the Lenovo a588t flip phone and the selfie camera when the flip is open is inverted in all the apps example SnapChat/Instagram/Skype etc.. is it the same with the Gionee W909 phone as well.
3. is 4G working well on your phone ?
4. How often do you need to open the flip or everything works well from outer screen only. Picking calls etc.
5. are u able to run Dual Whatsapp and Dual apps for both the sims or only 1 app for the phone.
and anything interesting about the phone also you can state.. while i try to look for someone who can help fix this problem. thanks alot
EDIT1 :: this was the link we followed to convert our phone rom (Lenovo a588t android 4.4) to a rooted rom and also create a CWM recovery for the phone. im sure this might lead you somewhere. as its for MTK related phones. please have a look
https://www.myrl.net/article/43
EDIT2 :: try looking for a phone with a similar MTK chipset and try to install GAPPS on your phone that way. im sure that would help
EDIT3 :: Atleast you can upload ur downloaded ROM on needrom .com so others can avail benefit of it ?? lol
I bought a w909, it just arrived this morning. The seller made sure I knew gapps wouldn't work on it, but I'm fairly comfortable with following online steps to flash firmware (have done it in the past with Motorola Droid versions). So I'm thinking it shouldn't be too difficult once someone figures out how to bypass the Chinese googlewall.
It was quick and easy to root with Kingo.
I'd be fine with a Cyanogen mod too! Subscribing to this thread for updates on whether anyone has managed to successfully install working gapps.
Honestly I'd be fine without the Play store, just want gmail, calendar, etc.

I bought it from liaow dot com and the manager of that site was the most helpful and informative person I have EVER bought from. Most reassuring online buying experience I have ever had. The price wasn't the lowest I'd see across the internet, but it was fairly close... lower than Ebay and Aliexpress at least.
1. If your phone is rooted, have you as a temporary fix tried connecting your phone as USB and downloaded apk files from the internet and installing manually ??
I tested installing the gapps apk just to confirm that it wouldn't work (it didn't). But manual install of a 3rd party appmarket .apk worked great, no issues.
2. i have the Lenovo a588t flip phone and the selfie camera when the flip is open is inverted in all the apps example SnapChat/Instagram/Skype etc.. is it the same with the Gionee W909 phone as well.
I haven't tried any of these yet but I haven't had any inversion on the inner screen.
3. is 4G working well on your phone ?
I haven't tested a SIM card in it yet. I don't plan to until I can flash the ROM to something that will allow installation of gapps.
4. How often do you need to open the flip or everything works well from outer screen only. Picking calls etc.
You could get by without opening the flip phone at all. Everything works from the touchscreen and side hardware buttons. But flipping it open is pretty awesome for the physical camera button on the keypad and for dialing.
5. are u able to run Dual Whatsapp and Dual apps for both the sims or only 1 app for the phone.
Didn't test this yet.

The stock apps are not great. Lots of Chinese bloatware. Particularly the embedded browser is bad... it's got the Great Firewall built in (google 404s).
Long shot is this phone will be AMAZING once it can be flashed with gapps. Until that time, it's not great.
@Jordstar
hi .. any update on the phone usage.. what about Gapps ?? any luck on that

None at all. The worst thing was, I rooted the device, then was playing around with it and tried to install the OTA firmware update. Whoops-- bricked the phone.
I have had no success even finding a Gionee representative whom I can ask for a new ROM, in English. No email address even.
I tried getting some support at Hovatek paid forum, but to no success. It's hard to get Windows to recognize the device and use the MTK drivers required to allow MTK Droid Tools or other flashing tools to work with it. The support at Hovatek was getting pretty frustrated with me, and was looking for a ROM and not finding one.

Here you go bro.. all 3 versions are here i believe .. v1.1 , v1.2 and v1.3 .. Lookup Version History for 1 and 2.
https://translate.googleusercontent...?id=55&usg=ALkJrhgcxz_nskOsTcaN72_pYQHOqLXEbg
Incase the link wont work.. go to google translate.. Translate from Chinese to English the link www.amigo.cn
and go to firmware downloads and select your mobile.. im sure you need to register somewhere (no need to register i checked).. but thats for you to do.. lol.. i did my part. im not sure if the downloads are OTA updates or full ROMS as of now.. but 1.6GB of data should be a ROM. in any case .. they have to be installed as a zip file from the SD Card.. so try doing that. Entering recovery is also mentioned in the Tutorial Link on the page. keep trying.
Edit/ you will also find the drivers etc for your model.. Try connecting your cell phone to your laptop.. it should show up some form of Desktop Software installation etc like all cell phones do.

This is so awesome. Thanks for your help man. I'll get this device back on track I swear. I'll post here when I have some success.
EDIT 1: saqibkhan, I owe you some thanks! The Amigo 1.3 from the link you gave me was very easy to install from sd card using stock recovery. The device is no longer bricked! The first thing I did was install third party app market Aptoide and attempt to install Google Play Services... but it force closes. Now to get to work on gapps...

your welcome brov.. and keep that link saved.. w909 is AmigoOS and all updates/roms will keep on coming there in the future.. btw all of what i read in Chinese forums while searching for you.. they mentioned something about W909 not being updated to MarshMallow .. that is soo very sad.. but lets see what gionee does..
1. Why dont you flash Gapps from the sd card recovery as you did the ROM try fixing permissions for it to work. Mess with those.
2. there is a Google Play app that install Gapps for you.. did you try that.. google it.
3. the same website.. has a device forum.. translate and website.. and Keep reading there.. or try posting.. im sure Chinese ppl might have had a solution for this. but needs time to research.
4. what about you manually place the Gapps files within the system folder after rooting your device ?? maybe that would work.. try it.
Hello Jordstar and Saqib, thank you for your comments. My friend has bought the device and is having the same issues as Jordstar unable to use Google services. Saqib, I believe if we are able to get twrp/custom recovery for Gionee we will be able to get Google working on it.
Also, Jordstar have you used whatsapp on the gionee phone. My friend is also having issues with whatsapp, unable to get sound notifications when someone sends a message.

1. I tried this and the install would hang. Fixing permissions didn't change this so I don't think it will work.
2. It's easy enough to use any third-party gapps installer to install gapps on the device. However, the gapps will force close and generate an error message several times per second until they are uninstalled... so they are blocked from the kernel layer, not just in the firmware.
3. I had a look through the translated device forum. Unfortunately came up with nothing yet. It's hard to do a proper search for the English terms specifically in the w909 thread.
4. How would I do this-- through a file browser?
@Jordstar im gonna get an amazing guy to help us out on this. im sure he would be able to. Let me speak to him.
and yes try using a file manager. ES FILE MANAGER would be a good choice.

Awesome. OK, I'll see if ES file manager installs on the w909. I have to unzip them and place them directly in the /sys/ folder, right?
Really excited to see if you can get that help. I'm willing to experiment now that I know I can brick/recover the device no problem.

AMAZING, thank you, I will try this and see if I can get it to work!
Edit: OK, I tried this and I get stuck again with MTKdroidTools.exe not recognizing the w909. When I launch the adb terminal from MTKdroidTools and type "adb devices" no devices are listed when the w909 is connected. I realized this was due to losing root once I updated it to firmware 1.3 after I bricked it (referenced earlier in the thread). I re-rooted with Kingo and this bricked the device again. I will have to downgrade the firmware and hope that version is rootable... will repost updates with an edit later.

It seems like you would be the right person to have this device in your hand... better than me.
I kept all the packaging in pristine condition-- I'll send you a private message.
Hi, i tried to install a custom rom in my device (y6 2018 ATU L21) and an error ocurred due to my ****ty usb cable, so now im in a big trouble because the phone is bricked.
I backup some partitions before the accident such as kernel, ramdisk but guess what, the most important (system.img) is corrupted and i can't do anything.
The phone boots and shows huawei logo and then black screen forever, i can't access TWRP nor Erecovery, im completly stuck.
I searched on "Huawei Firmware Finder" but any of the ROMs for ATUL21 works (some of them have missing partitions) so now i only depend on the community, if there is any good person that has this phone and wants to help me by sharing the partitions to me i will appreciate such act of generosity, if you want to help me you can follow those steps (Need to be root):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-twrp-backup-current-partitions.3853831/
If you have any stock rom that works for this model im glad to accept it .
Have a good day.
I think I have this for you:

Good luck!

Hello, it's been a while since the post but I still need your help. I have the same problem as describe. I downloaded the file from the nice man. Tried to flash it with fastboot but the phone still has the same problem. maybe you can solve your problem and can help me.
I only have access to fastboot because the rest doesn't work. maybe you also have a custom ROM that works on the device, which doesn't necessarily have to be original software.
Thanks in advance

Hi, this is what i have done to recover the phone. First, there is one mistake that i made and it was trying to flash the files from fastboot, you can't do that because the phone is bricked, instead you need to download the firmware from "Huawei Firmware Finder" and then you need to dissasemble your phone to press the test point. look at this video for reference huawei test point once your PC is going to recognize your device as 'COM' on the device manager, and then you need to use a tool to flash the firmware, i can't share with you the tool since i have switched to Linux distro and i don't use Windows anymore. But if you were smart enough to flash your phone i think with a little bit of search you are gonna find.
Good Luck and have a good day.
Hello thanks for the answer, I have already downloaded stock roms from 2 different sites, both are the same. There are many subfolders in the file but after a long search you can find some .app files right? What should I do with the file exactly? Flash this directly? If so, do you happen to remember the name? Or did you extract the various files from this file, such as "Boot" or something else?
