I'm also looking for a custom rom for rosy. I don't like miui my Redmi 5 came with and really miss lineageos I had on my previous phone, so either custom nougat or orea would be great. Did xiaomi release kernel sources yet?

I have yet to test it since I am still waiting the 360 hours **** to unlock my device.

Linageos 14.1 = nougat
I think all lineageos rom should support english.
But i haven't tested this rom since i am still waiting to unlock my device.

Finally unlocked my redmi 5 (rosy) and installed this lineageos.
Working good, all essential things like fingerprint, wifi, camera, bluetooth works.
Used for a few hours, seems stable enough.
Have english lanuage support.
Did you have gcam mod for redmi 5 ?
Ir blaster work on lineage os ?
I enabled camera api2, and install gcam mod.
Gcam seems to take picture normally, but hdr+ no effect.
I didnt test ir as i dont use it.
Portrait mode work ?
Oh, portrait mode in gcam mod take weird picture.
But anyway, as hdr+ not working, gcam is useless to me.
I use open camera, and it is perfectly ok.
Face unlock working ?

If the forum for redmi 5 doesn't exist yet then wait until it's created. The redmi series is always not as popular as the redmi note series so sometimes it doesn't exist or creating the forum for redmi devices is just slow. I know there's a forum for redmi 4 prime but it's running SD625, whereas redmi 4 and 5 is only running SD4xx, so it's a completely different device

Hello good developers hope you guys are doing well I just wanna say thanks for the hard and fantastic work you guys have done for Redmi note 3 kenzo.
But as now I can see clearly that Redmi note 3 is dying and there's no hope as there's no project treble support.
So I request you guys to please make Redmi note 3 project treble supported so we can enjoy nice ROMs.
As everyone knows Redmi note 3 runs on marshmallow 6.0 officially and it was already dead but just because of the hard work of good developers it was pretty much saved.
So here is my huge request that please........ please......... please ......make project treble for our Redmi note 3 I mean it's such a shame because even Redmi 3X/Redmi 3S/Prime have unofficial project treble support which is definitely not good as Redmi note 3 and was released at very low price.
Please developers do something please give a little bit of your precious time for project treble (Kenzo).
And please tell me in the comments if any good developer is really ready to make a change..... please guys common just one last thing.... please.

Go to mi forum and Write this to xiaomi developers. Its their job. Xda is for developing kernel and custom roms . not for rewriting vendor code. Its huge work. If u can afford then hire a dev and tell him to rewrite.
And If u don't understand what treble is then google it.

Yes. Note4 is supported. Coz it got code from miA1. MiA1 has same hardware and chip like note 4.
Redmi note 3 will get treble if Mi Max get official oreo from xiaomi. We can copy the code. Same hardward and chip.

That will be awesome
We need Oreo proprietary blobs to make treble possible. So if it is found then it can be possible. Don't compare Redmi note 3 with 4

Its not like easy said and done thing.Treble is implemented only from android oreo 8.0, so any device launching with stock version as android 8.0 will support treble by default. Our device is still on old blobs and secondly providing and developing latest blobs is job of OEM not ours. There are lot more complicated stuff!
Ps:- eventually you will get android p's custom rom next year probably ?? without treble (maybe) , believe on devs!
time you got a new phone...be happy with the roms that the devs have developed so far...they pushed it as far as oreo when mi devs just quit at mm
Also, mi max getting Oreo just won't happen, ever. Xiaomi has a policy of 1 major android update per device (except for android one devices). RN3 was released with lolipop, that's why it received MM upgrade and has been stuck there ever since. Mi max was released with MM, so it got nougat as an update and will stay there. Even if Oreo for mi max were to be the once in a lifetime miracle, xiaomi could (and most likely would) release it without treble support since it's optional for devices upgraded to Oreo.
Sony x dual (suzu) has same hardware and has got oreo update , the oreo blobs used in some oreo roms are ported from suzu,there is a device ,copy the code ,it is not that easy ,

Is this true for the cheaper mi phones though? Like the mi4c and mi4i? I dont think they got two version updates. And from what i've seen the mi max miui 10 is still nougat.

Maybe just the expensive versions! For example Mi 5 [gemini] release with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and now on Oreo!

Redmi 5 plus comes with different screen. Sometimes it is based on your region... etc.
In india, I have mostly seen tianma displays which are compatible with all the custom roms. But there is a display which is known as EBBG which is a ******* hell. It only supports MIUI or MIUI based roms. So unfortunately you are one of those who have got EBBG displays. Btw I have tianma display.

You might want to write to Xiaomi and ask them to "release updated Oreo kernel sources for vince, which support all the available vince display panels".
With the arribal of the new MiPad 5 comes the MiPad Os with an interface adapted to the big screens, do you think it could be implemented to our MiPad 4??? Just the interface i mean, it will be great!!!
Maybe you can ask (XDA) developers to port a Mi pad 5 ROM for mi pad 4.
Stock ROM update is impossible (because the developers in Xiaomi is too lazy).
