NVME partition for ALP-L29 (backup) - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi guys!
Can someone with Mate 10 ALP-L29 model to make a backup his phone's NVME and modem partition? I need this because l was hardbricked and l messed up with my NVME partition(lost). Thank you!
Please run this command with an external sd, and send me the resulting file:
dd if=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/nvme of=/external_sd/backup/nvme.img
####If you don't have external sd...
Please try something like:
(from computer with debugging turned on)
adb shell
su
(approve root request on phone)
mkdir /sdcard/backup
dd if=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/nvme of=/sdcard/backup/nvme.img
@and for modem:
dd if=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/modemnvm_backup of=/sdcard/backup/modemnvm_backup.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/modemnvm_img of=/sdcard/backup/modemnvm_img.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/modemnvm_system of=/sdcard/backup/modemnvm_system.img
OR,
Always with ROOT on mate 10 you can backup partition with Google Play market app : Partitions Backup & Restore 2.0.1 APK.
I need a all files NV:
Modemnvn_bakup
Modemnvm_factory
Modemnvm_system, etc.
I promise not to use your information or to make it public, and the file will be used only for my phone to make it work again

So in other words you need all the information that would be required to clone someones phone. I doubt that a "promise" would be sufficient. Just using their backups would basically be cloning their device and using their information.

At first sight seems to be something like that... but is not my intention to have a functional phone which is a clone. If my phone will work again with NV partition from other same model l will continue to find a way to restore back my phone.... I am not a pirate lol ????

You would have to rewrite it using HCU, but that only works on firmware prior to June 2018. I have done this when I too messed with my NVME. NVME on Mate 10+ is encrypted and can't be edited without decrypting it first (I guess)
I have a mate 10 Pro and I don't think my NVME would be great for your phone

HCU client works only with xloader01 firmwares. I am on xloader02 and for now nothing seems to be working. I tried today with sigma key too... but it doesn't work either. Chinese firmwares are all xloader01, Evan Android 8.1. (f''king chinese???)
About NV partition l think mate 10 and mate 10 pro should have the same one. I not sure it will work but l can give it a try if you help me( nothing to lose)
In fastboot mode after fastboot oem get-psid command.... it shows me in cmd my 2 imeis and serial number. But in normal mode l have 0000000 imei and with no services... and NCK prompt with sim!

Yep, I know that. But it didn't work on, for example, C432B145 either which was Xloader 01. So it was patched before the new bootloader was introduced
It may have the same NVME/modems. I flashed NV partitions from a BLA-L09 and mine is a L29. After this it turned into L09, and gained the IMEI/IMEI2 and serial of the donor phone. This was easily fixable in HCU though... But it's up to you. If you were up to no good it should only block the imei/imei2 on the network you use the phone on. And besides, I will probably switch to another brand soon. It seems Huawei patched something else now in latest Pie for C432 so you can't boot with a custom kernel (Built directly from their source without modifications, tried both COL and BKL source). It was fine on the build prior to this new one. I like disabling most of their kernel logging and **** which they seem to need for some reason. Can't disable all as kernel won't build then and I'm not in the mood of trying to completely remove it
Going to test signing it if avb is causing problems, it hasn't before but you never know with Huawei...
In fastboot it shows the info that's in OEMINFO. In booted mode it loads the info from modem.
But I will send you a pm in a bit.

The NV partitions contain the IMEI, ESN, and serial numbers along with other information, using those partitions to bring your phone back from the dead is cloning the phone, weather that is your intent or not. The only way to do it without "cloning" is to edit the information in the "donated" partition so that the information would be the same as the the information in your original partitions. You have to change the IMEI, ESN, serial number, and modem id numbers.

I was just checking my logs and I had to flash modemnvm_backup, modemnvm_cust, modemnvm_fw, modemnvm_img from BLA-L09 when fixing my device. But, after flashing those I would get No service. SIM was recognized. I had to restore my imeis/serial using HCU. After this it would switch between No service and my network rapidly. After this I did a factory reset in stock recovery and that solved it.
I'm not sure it was due to it being L09 modem and my device was L29 or something else, but HCU seems to be key to getting it back. I guess you could try downgrading partitions manually to pre-june firmware, all but xloader and fastboot. Downgrading xloader would only cause a brick and fastboot might too.
I guess you would also have to have a phone that boots to system, which I'm not sure yours does.
I could only use fastboot when this happened to me.

[Solved] Firmware, scatter and PMT: TWRP happiness with new TS.

Hi all, I have a TS 1/8/2100, firmware 20140513.
TWRP and Bluetooth tether ROM are available for firmware 20140328 only. Past conversations make me think there won't be any update soon.
A solution would be to install previous firmware, then TWRP, then update firmware. But partitions changed in between.
According to this SP Flash Tool can also physically format a partition if you can get a partition management table (PMT). The scatter file describes logical partitions, but it seems you can also add PMT. (After backup with MTKDroidTool, click "prepare Blocks for FlashTool")
Knowing this, provided that hardware is relatively unchanged, it could be possible for newest TS to enjoy TWRP happiness.
I would like to try, if someone could be kind enough to give me a stock backup for TS 1-8-2100 firmware 20140328 with PMT. (there sould be a file called MT6572_Android_scatter_emmc_PMT.txt)
I need you to help me help you to help me help you.
thx.

That's all that was generated by the tool I'm afraid, I followed the steps from the link you provided too, but still no joy. It only produces the standard one, no PMT suffix.

That's unfortunate. Did you click on "prepare Blocks for FlashTool" after backup ? I'll try myself asap to confirm the procedure.
Yes I did, but no PMT text file in the relevant folder..

Well, the procedure is correct. It appears that PMT can be (or not) in scatter file without any difference in the filename. So you have to check by yourself, as I did, if you want to format. (look for many lines per partition, like 'physical_start_addr' and 'linear_start_addr')
You have to select "format+download" in "sp flash tools" to format everything (including preloader, so be carefull).
Take all precautions: Backup everything, including userdata and cache partition, because sp flash tools will ask for it if you have to format. Do not forget to backup nvram.
Doing this, I successfully formatted the TS and installed previous firmware, 20140328.
Sadly, the TS won't boot. Here lies my hope to get TWRP and bt tether ROM working without update from its creator...
So, back to firmware 20140513.
After the new format+backup, TS boot normally, but I had a "IMEI invalid" error. So, I used MTKdroidtools to restore nvram the same way I previously backed it up.
Complete 'format+download' is to be used if you messed up with partitions or if partitions changed.
Could be usefull, this was to let you know how.

Install last firmware known to be working with twrp.
Did that.
The device doesn't boot anymore.
Revert to previous backup.
Did that.
I like to see things by myself.
It's not your firmware that's the problem. I'm running twrp on the latest firmware without issue.

I can only rely on testimonies on this very forum, but I have not seen a single person succesfully installed twrp on firmware 20140513.
I have seen successfull install on previous firmware, and then OTA upgrade.

No one is trying to win. I have a good deal of experience with MTK devices based on my researching various methods of backup/restore/flash/etc and I was offering a hand.
You can play one-person pong with yourself and claim fallacy all you want or you can get off your high horse.

There is a trick, log into your Google account you were using on your phone, go into settings and dashboard and Android, you can find all your devices listed there with IMEI numbers. For device id there is a tool mentioned in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/general/bricked-honor-6-honor-7-phone-id-t3468334/page2
Tested with honor 6, 7 and 4x as working. Give it a try.
For the serial, connect your phone to PC in fastboot mode and fire
Fastboot devices
The number shown there is your serial (at least that is the case for my honor 7).
Hope it all helps or even a part of it.
(Might wanna google "how to get to Google dashboard" first, I am not 100% sure how to get there).
here is the dashboard link
https://myaccount.google.com/dashboard
as said by @muradulislam follow the procedure, you might have a chance.. or consider your phone cannot be used with any sim cards..

If it is easy i sloved by myself, you give me a idea to unlock bootloader or root system.
Device is working fine without network signal with wrong model number, wrong product id, wrong serial number with no emei.
Oh too familiar
Same problem happened to me, accidentally flashed over the EFS file losing my serial number and IMEI's. Then before noticing the lost info I restored the stock OS and recovery, and the bootloader locked behind me, so there's no way for me to actually access that even though I have all the physical numbers from the box. It still does accept the SIM card that was into it prior to the lock and works perfectly fine as a phone, able to send/receive texts and calls as well as use my data, it's just no fun anymore. So I reached out to US customer support, already knowing the answer would be that since the bootloader was unlocked and flashed it was no longer under warranty and they were unable to help, so I have come to the conclusion that there is not much I can do and picked up a new Honor 5x. I've attempted to put in the correct information for my old Honor in the bootloader unlock process, however I believe the product ID generated from my phone is no longer valid as my IMEI's are 0 and my serial number is 0123456789ABCDEF. I will post if I find anything else that might possibly work and would appreciate the same if you by chance happen to come across something that works. Thanks.

Thanks.

You easly repair your serial number and emei . first you have to buy DC-unlocker 4 credits ( 1 credit=1 euro)
then go to http://hcu-client.com/ and download http://hcu-client.com/HCU_0099.zip

WIFI, Bluetooth and Baseband dead

Hey guys.
My WIFI suddenly stopped working along with Bluetooth and no rom fixed it. So I tried flashing the modem of the Oreo OTA and I wiped the modemst1 by accident...
Long story short, WIFI/Bluetooth can't be enabled and even though the phone recognizes the SIM card, there's no signal and I can't make calls/send or receive messages ( the IMEI is 0 ).
I've tried going back to stock but the issue persisted.
I've heard that other SD820 phones used QPST but the Moto Z can't use the Diag Port so that one fell into the water.
Can anyone help me?
I just need to restore the baseband, even if it's from someone else's Z, and I can change the IMEI back to mine after restoring if the IMEI even gets duplicated.
EDIT
Fastboot getvar all showed that my IMEI is still present but I can't get it to appear in the OS...

I don't thinking wiping modemst1 has to do with anything. I'd recommend you flash stock Oreo from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/development/stock-moto-z-8-0-firmware-t3805226
It should fix your problem.
I was on stock 7.1.1 with stock Oreo bootloader and had imei 0. But after flashing back to Oreo, I had my imei back. If it doesn't work, unlock bootloader and flash custom kernel. I recommend ElementalX Kernel 3.0.0 for stock OREO. Good luck.

The sad part is that I was on my AEX build and after I came back from college, everything was working untill the phone discharded and shut down. After a full charge, wifi was gone. Then I flashed the modem and some other parts on top of aex which caused the disappearance of the IMEI.
I did try flashing that exact firmware and nothing changed besides my baseband returning. The only guess I can make is to possibly try going to pure stock and relocking the bootloader ( other Moto phones actually got fixed that way )...

I don't think it's possible to relock the bootloader. Have you tried full flash using the official firmware I recommended? Flashing some parts of it will not fix anything for you. Try full flash having it in mind that all your data will be lost.

I flashed everything in proper order besides the bootloader ( I already have that version, it would be rejected anyways).
I even tried wiping everything but it was still not helpful.
I have had it with this phone. I spent so much money replacing the battery and the motherboard and it suddenly craps out on me like this.
I've put it up for parts and my Xiaomi Mi 8 SE will arrive next week.
No more Motorola for me, a flagship phone shouldn't have this ****ty situations happening, especially when I didn't touch anything to begin with ( if I modified something myself, I would be okay with it, but this time it seriously died on its own ) .

So sorry to hear this.
My Moto Z has the WiFi bug too. But Bluetooth works though. It's very annoying because I've tried various fixes and different custom roms which didn't fix the problem. Maybe it's hardware? I wouldn't know. But I'm managing it for now until I get another phone.

other possible solutions is this:
How to Fix EFS over ADB
Setup ADB and Fastboot on your PC.
Enable Developer options & USB debugging on your Android device.
Connect your device to the PC and open a command window on the PC.
Issue the following commands one by one:
adb shell 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst1'
adb shell 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst2'
adb reboot
How to Fix EFS from Bootloader Mode using Fastboot commands
Setup ADB and Fastboot on your PC.
Enable Developer options & USB debugging on your Android device.
Connect your device to the PC and open a command window on the PC.
Issue the following commands one by one:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot reboot
How to Fix EFS from TWRP recovery
Boot into TWRP recovery.
From TWRP’s main screen, selectAdvanced » then Terminal.
Type the following commands in terminal (one by one):
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst1
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modemst2
Reboot device.
Edit: Those using twrp may experience efs restoration issues.
While creating the backup of EFS, you will end up with:
efs1.emmc.win (modemst1 partition raw data)
efs2.emmc.win (modemst2 partition raw data)
When restoring this EFS backup, what happened was the file name was not updated for restore, and you ended up with:
Restoring EFS…
Restoring efs1.emmc.win to modemst1
Restoring efs1.emmc.win to modemst2
It should have been:
Restoring EFS…
Restoring efs1.emmc.win to modemst1
Restoring efs2.emmc.win to modemst2
Twrp issue, the steps above will restore your devices.

I't not a hard brick, the phone boots. Wifi, Bluetooth and SIM functions are the only things that are dead. xD
Sorry, I expressed myself badly, what I wanted to say is that your case is a strange situation, by the way, I have a full backup of my phone and if you want, I can share it so you can try flashing it and see if you can recover the wifi, although I think it could end up in a hard brick so it is risky to try it. Tell me if you're interested in flashing my backup

LGUp 1.16.3 Patched Found and Works with LG Wing

Honestly found it on XDA of all places after looking for it all night
What does 1.16 give us that 1.14 doesn't? Everything honestly. Could not get my Wing recognized to flash with 1.14. No 1.15 Patched exists either
We can downgrade with ChipErase (and restore IMEI), we can modify PDM, we can dump the entire phone (will do tomorrow), can upgrade.
See link here for link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...er-w-fastboot-drivers-and-common_dll.4304181/
This was the only working LGUp_Tool that worked outside of LGUP CMD
I wanted this to try other countries firmware files to see if we get other weird results. This should also allow custom KDZ files? from my understanding
ADDED INFO Nov 8, 2021
How to use LGUp Tool From this Download
1.) Download the LGUp 1.16.03 Patched from the XDA Link above
2.) Run the EXE as admin so it can install Drivers and the software properly
3.) Go to the install directory and run the 2 Bat files that are in the folder as admin
Code:
Default: C:\Program Files(x86)\LG Electronics\LGUp
-- Running LGUP_UI-fixer.bat -- run as admin, follow instructions, run the software when it says to, then close it
-- Run LGUP_UI-Fixer-addon.bat -- run as admin, follow steps, then run LGUp.exe when patch complete
You now have a working LGUP Tool 1.16 Patched for the LG Wing
Explaining the functions of LGUP Tool
Code:
REFURBISH: You will lose all user data(KDZ or TOT)
UPGRADE: Keep data and update your phone(KDZ or TOT) - Select Upgrade to flash kdz firmware to unbrick/restore your phone back to stock.
Chip Erase: Dangerous, This will erase IMEI/efs, do not try this if you do not have a NV backup. - Chip Erase can also remove the Google FRP on many LG devices with Android 5.0, 6.0.
PARTITION DL:Flash the single Partition or selected partitions onto your phone. - This feature can solve “unknown model” issues. This feature can be used to bypass Google FRP by flashing specific tot firmware.
DUMP:Dump all partitions of your phone as backup. - Dump the stock firmware from a working phone as back up and use Partition DL to restore phones.
FOTA Upgrade: This can be used to flash OTA Update file that comes with dot up file extension.
PDM: Change imei, wifi address, bluetooth, mac address

Holy cow I can’t believe it. You actually found the exact tool that we needed! I went ahead and did a chip erase on my demo model, which had previously been flashed with the Korean firmware from the previous tutorial, and flashed the T-Mobile Firmware. IT WORKED! To get rid of the error at that shows up every time you reboot it, I accessed the hidden menu and changed the TN number to the one associated with TMO_US, as shown in this post.
Thank you!

Interesting. I was able to generate an IMEI in the hidden menu after the chip erase and it worked fine. I did also have to re-add my CSN, because that was also removed, and then my phone did an unprompted factory reset and rebooted.
By the way, when you flashed it, did you use Refurbish? Because with my demo unit, it refused to let me do that and would only allow chip erase. I was reluctant, but it turned out fine. And, the only important thing I was unable to reprogram afterwords was the S/N, but it doesn’t really matter to me. (Too bad the fingerprint scanner still doesn’t work though. That’s the only thing left that still isn’t working after all of this.)

LG G8X sprint model sensors not working after messy crossflash

I tried to crossflash my G8X to the US Open A11 software and screwed up quite badly during the process. I've had to restore my phone from having no partitions and do not have the original LUN5 files, only the 7 required for the crossflash. I've also rooted and installed twrp on this device so if anything that could help needs that I'm able to use it.
I expected the fingerprint sensor not to work, however now the light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, etc. don't work either.
Is there something I can do to get this functionality back? I've mostly given up on fixing the imei and network issues but I would like to at least have the phone in a usable state on Wifi.
If more details are needed please do tell and I will do my best to provide them.

The same thing happened to me, I came from a10 sprint and installed a11 from Canada, I was left without a network and without a fingerprint sensor, but the other sensors work without problem, to fix network and ntcode I think it is only possible by box, I don't know if of the fingerprint sensor is caused by the lack of serial and imei.

yes, the netmsm's guide, fhloader only use it to restore the luns, restore the kdz partitions one by one with qfil, just try what Surgemanxx suggested first and tell me how it goes.

It works very well.I tried 30c,and noticed it was slow and laggy and rolled back to 30b and it worked flawless.Fingerprint scanning and all worked with a T-Mobile sim with no issues. They should be good with 30b,all but the IMEI issue they have.
All right I completely erased the flash again and reinstalled following the steps very carefully. I'm now on 30b and can confirm that the sensors work once again. Although the major issues I think were deeper than just the update, because I updated before doing a full erase and it still wasn't working. Now I just have to keep trying to fix the IMEI and FP sensor.
Also I think I may have found my IMEI number thanks to having the ftm partition backed up and therefore still having the serial number. The first 8 digits are always 35886110 for the LG G8x sprint model (and maybe others in the US), the next 6 are the last 6 digits of the serial and the last one is a check digit that you can look up online. I've checked the number on multiple sites and it seems legit so I hope it's actually my number. Now I'll try to write it to the phone somehow, but at least having the IMEI back is a very big step forward.
IMEI is fixed, or at least it appears as such in the phone. I went through with the tutty method of installing the IMEI, and after much trouble (and tutty saying error to my command to write the IMEI) I was able to restore the IMEI to the phone. I confirmed this first using EFS Pro and going into qualcomm NV tools. The IMEI was still as 0 in my phone but after putting in a sim it appeared in the OS and has stayed there. However it still appears as permanently locked when a sim is inserted and the nt-code error does still happen, so the network doesn't work yet.

That LUNS backup is for the Sprint U.S. model G850UM9.The IMEI is stored in modemst1 and 2 which is LUNS5 that I didn't include for that reason. The NT Code error shouldn't be there if it's the same model/region.Keep me posted.

I've flashed your backups and the NT Code error indeed disappeared. However I've still got the perm locked error (so my doesn't work), and the fp sensor still refuses record fingerprints. Was your phone network unlocked when you made that backup? Idk if that maybe interferes with the sim or something

Yes,it was network unlocked for sure. You're not the only one that has faced this after trying to repair the IMEI.It's perma blocked because it's embedded in the chipset itself, and so far I haven't seen any fix for it as of yet.
