Recently I'm having an issue with my Mido, it isn't receiving any 3G/4G/LTE signal. Sometimes it is, but I can't connect to mobile data, and the signal will just disappear again. A few things that I need to point out:
1. IMEI, WiFi MAC address, and Baseband are all intact.
2. Tried flashing firmware from latest Global Dev (8.12.20) and latest Global Stable (10.1.1.0), no luck.
3. Tried flashing full Global Dev Fastboot ROM (8.12.20), no luck. I even tried flashing persist.img from said ROM, no luck.
4. Setting the network type in network settings to GSM Only, it's only receiving 2G signal, and I can connect to EDGE only. Set it to LTE Only, the signal is lost.
5. SIM slots are both good, both can read my SIM cards normally, though I only use one SIM at a time.
So, I have a few assumption:
1. Cable signal might be damaged. But I can still receive 2G signal, so I guess this is invalid.
2. Firmware might be corrupted. But like I said in point no. 2 above, tried flashing two different firmware versions, didn't work. So I guess this is invalid.
3. Motherboard might have a little water damage. But I don't see any suspicious water stain or anything on the surface, but I do see some pink on the water damage indicator above the SIM slots, but it's only a little. But I still think this is valid, since my phone would get warm/hot randomly when not in use. It even gets warm when I leave it off while sleeping. And the battery drains faster when it's hot. I suspect this is because the phone is struggling to find signal, but it also happens when the phone is turned off.
I really need to find a solution before I'll have to bring my phone to a service center. I'll update when I can and when I remember any other details.
Have the same problem tried flashing all types of custom and official roms but no help.

Hi All,
I've been a visitor to XDA for couple years now and greatly appreciate the people who post here who have helped me to custom my Galaxy SI, SII & SIII with generally no issues. I've had my SIII for about a year and a half now running CWM & CF root with either Darky's ROM or a Nightly build of Cyanogen Mod.
Since moving to a new house (few weeks ago) the signal on my handset drops as I make/receive calls. I assumed initially it was just the signal in the area and as I had been running a non-stable build I flashed a full release to be certain. I chose Delta ROM initially but have since flashed Darky's, Delta (again), Cyanogenmod (Nightly, stable, unofficial 11), multiple different Modems when running CM (area specific, model specific & the emergency one for EFSv2) and followed the guide to reset to stock (unroot, official recovery, reset counter & stock ROM) none of which has helped.
To be specific, I can use the Wi-Fi, 3G, send texts and use apps which use 3G to send texts (MightText); which to me (Novice at this stuff) seems to indicate that the 2G & 3G functions of the phone work. Yet still as I make a call, or receive one, I do not hear ringing, person speaking or any form of buzzing; this applies if I use the phone as normal, the speaker phone or a handsfree set.
Roughly 30 seconds into the call the network drops (signal bars go empty), the phone call displays 'Out of Network Area' or some such, the call ends and the phone returns to the home screen where roughly a minute later the network reconnects and I can use 3G again, send texts etc. as above, except still cannot make calls.
I don't know if it has any bearings but on Cyanogenmod the time before the network drops is around the 45-60 seconds mark, all other ROMs disconnect at around the 30 second mark and my GF has an S4, on O2 as well, and the signal on her phone has been temperamental lately, but has not shown the same problem, she is running Stock firmware without root etc.
If I had to replace a component instead of sending off to service centre, how difficult would that be?
Thank you in advanced,
Martin
If it still has the same issue with full stock rom then it's hardware, motherboard/antenna etc. Unless you often dismantle and successfully reassemble mobile phones it isn't recommended to try yourself.
Samsung give two year limited warranty, worth trying with service centre after resetting counter.

Yeee I had a look around alot of forums for similar issues but could only find posts where there was no signal at all or playing up due to modem etc.
In desperation I opened dialogue with an O2 Guru who said hardware, but just seemed very coincidental to have happened when we moved =/
Thank you for confirming though worth a shot!
Martin
You moved so you may not have the same signal strength .
You need to work out if it is the network or the phone .
Try another phone in your location with your sim .
Test your phone next to an O2 mast .
Wipe phone flash stock rom for your network and test .

The O2 Guru I spoke with said the signal at my home address should be OK, my GF has an S4 on O2 and although a bit crackly, her phone functions works and I have my SIM in a temp phone, a Galaxy Ace, which has also been working fine in the area.
It's a good idea to test closer to a mast, I don't know where the nearest one is to be honest, is there anywhere I can find this out?
My phone is currently flashed back to stock, that's recovery, ROM, counter, modem (I believe) etc. followed this guide to do so:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2323847
What boggles me is that the phone is able to send texts, use 3g and search for different networks to 'register' etc. but the phone call disconnects. I would have thought that the same component which connects to network to send texts would connect to make calls? Is it possible that where I am in a weak signal area, the phone has damaged the component by increasing the gain by too much/for too long? If so is that because there was custom software or would the settings for this component be the same as stock?
Bit concerned about sending it off and the possible questions/costs associated with this sort of thing. This is the first time I've had a phone which has a hardware fault, all the other times a phone has played up its usually due to the software which can be flashed using any number of methods found on this site.
What a frustration, sorry to ask so many questions, just at a bit of a loss as to what to do with it now!
Thanks,
Martin
In a weak signal area your phone has to output 10x the signal strength to maintain voice call, which it probably didn't have to before. Data and text use much less power, hence why they still work. To test just find somewhere with full bars strength, maximum ASU value in settings, about, status.
It sounds like a high resistance gap somewhere, it gets hotter during use until it breaks the connection - then cools to join again.
Just make sure you describe the fault correctly and it should be repaired.

ReFlash modem pls
Hello everybody, I'm literally going crazy, I have a s3 with the firmware and modem I9300XXUGND5 MG4 the imei is right but I can not in any way to let him take the signal from the sim. I tried several times to put the firmware with odin the sim on another cell works perfectly.
I state that one occasionally takes and you can not make calls, but only in rare cases, the only time the reception lasted more than usual after the modem is installed MG4 and I did a restore sopo but some have returned to lose the signal. I'm really going crazy because I do not understand what's the catch
If it works for a while then stops it is probably a hardware fault.
yes but I do not have the icon of the signal there are notches gray not white and it seems that you want to connect and tramtti seems that receives
Before he went perfectly :crying::crying::crying::crying:
Hello, this is my first post on the forums here.
Iv'e purchased a Xiaomi Redmi 3 last week. It turned on fine and after the first turnoff-turn on it simply didn't turn on again and was stuck on the mi logo.
Iv'e downloaded the latest stable chinese rom and flashed using miflash and the phone started working properly again.
The problem is I do not have a cellular signal. It's either non existent (empty bars marked with 'x'), empty bars or one or two bars at most. Even when there are bars I cannot receive or make any calls (when i call the phone it just rings and the nothing happens).
The sim card itself is new (micro), the phone is new. I tried contacting the cellular company and they said everything is fine on their side, also iv'e tried the sim card on another device and it worked. I tried fiddling with different settings like changing from preferred lte to prefer 3g, adding new vpn, changing the sim card settings through the phone from WCDMA, only LTE so on and so forth and nothing worked.
Iv'e read around the forums here about the whole bootloader unlock, rooting, dev roms. I'm a newbie when it comes to these things and don't know weather I should do there and if it would help my problem.
Oh and last thing, I also verified that the device 3g/4g networks are compatible with the cellular companies in my country (same ones).
Thanks in advance,
Maybe there's a problem with ur set. I didn't root nor unlock the bootloader and reception has been fine for me from the start.

So you think it might be a faulty phone?
EDIT: I don't know if this helps or connected to my issue but i have this notification at the top saying "your SIM card isn't activated". I can't link to the pic since i'm a new user.
No one knows how to fix my problem?
I've got a similar problem I think.
I searched until I found that while flashing my IMEIs got lost and so the phone can't register to the networks.
Now I continue searching how to restore the IMEIs...

Hello all,
I am having an intermittent but a strange signal problem with my wife's OnePlus X and I suspect that this is some sort of software issue with the modem firmware and not a hardware fault.
Basically if you reboot the phone, 9 times out of 10 there will be absolutely no signal whatsoever on the 3 UK network, the phone will just state emergency calls only. This happens on both 3G and 4G, but we usually have 4G turned off as there are not many areas within our region that support 4G yet. If you search Available Networks 3 doesn't show up.
Usually leaving the phone for hours the signal will come back, but sometimes it can be fixed by going into the Test Menu by putting *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer and going to Phone Information -> Toggling the Radio off and On a few times, but this doesn’t work every time. My phone is also on the Three network, so I have tried putting both SIMS's in the OnePlus X at the same time and the same issue occurs in both SIM Slots. If I put a Vodafone SIM in as well as the Three SIM, the Vodafone SIM works absolutely fine, regardless of the SIM slot it goes in, but it maintains a signal each time. The problem isn’t signal in the area as we have full signal in our house. If I put my wife's SIM into my LG G4 it works absolutely fine 100% of the time.
Three will not help us as the phone isn’t supplied by them, this is getting to the point now where this phone is becoming unreliable to use because if you have to reboot, chances are you won't have any signal for hours on end.
This happens on OOS and CM13 and has done for months.
Has anyone come across this issue before?
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

I have the same problem and solution is nowhere to be found...
Did you find any solution to this? I've got this problem with my OPX.

My wife ended up getting rid of the phone a few months ago, she couldnt put up with it any longer as it was just the same. I don't think it was a hardware fault with the phone as it worked fine on any other network but Three. The phone supported all the frequencies that Three offers, so I have no idea why it didnt work right but certainly something wasn't right.

When I had recently visited the UK, I had trouble connecting to the Three as well(through my home SIM as International Roaming). It didn't work so I ended up buying an O2 SIM that worked just fine.
I fixed it by putting some scotch tape over the back of the sim card, My OPX is almost 2 years old and the sim card is not in good contact with the phone inside I think.

Solution: Disable "Dual 4G" option in the "SIM Cards & Mobile networks" settings
Hello, good day!
tl;dr: Phone stuck to no cellular signal, until I reboot, restart mobile radio power, or turning on airplane mode for a short while when turning off again.
---------------------------------------------------
I recently bought this phone as an upgrade to my old one. I transferred my sim, and all seems to be working pretty well. I lived in an area with very poor signal reception, so overnight, the phone doesn't have any signal reception other than WiFi.
The problem is that it remains that way (stuck on 'no signal') if it cannot get any signal for an extended period. The problem persists even if I went to an area with good cellular reception even in the city.
The problem seems to fix itself when I placed the phone either by activating airplane mode for a minute, turn off "mobile radio power" then back on again, or reboot my phone but it starts to get annoying over time.
I tried changing the preferred network type to the one my old phone used (LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)) to fix it, but no luck.
Does anyone know a permanent solution to this?

I tried the SIM Reset first and so far it is working perfectly but I need to monitor it first to check if the problem would persist in the long term.
Will update thread on the result.
================
Update: unfortunately, the SIM reset doesn't work. However, I tried swapping the SIM card to see if it makes any difference and surprisingly it did. I put in a SIM in slot 1 from a network with a good signal reception while my previous one on slot 2.
I would like to also note that the current SIM 1 has a successful Xiaomi activation & verified to use the chat features on the Messaging app while the old one does not.
All seems to work perfectly - but need further monitoring I can call it solved. Will update the thread on the result :good:
Update 2: The workaround above doesn't work. I sent to Xiaomi this issue.

My sim is in slot 1. still dropped calls. Seems like network disconnects and reconnects.
When call is dropped I immediately redial and sometimes no network.
Hi i have the same issue No signal, is there any tricks or tips or tools to fix this?

Unfortunately, the workaround I posted doesn't seem to work also when my current SIM 1 can't pickup signal for at least 2-3 hours.
Yes I also experienced drop calls most notably when the signal drops below 0 bars (not no signal with an "X").
I can't find a good rationale a factory reset would solve the problem since nothing on my phone (modified settings, modded, or downloaded apps) that can affect the cellular network. So, I won't be taking that road for now.
I already sent feedback on Xiaomi and advice me to send the log files *fingers crossed*
Any updates..?
My father is experiencing similar experience with calls hang and even bad call quality, while pocophone f1 on the same network works flawlessly.
Data problem
I have a problem with my RedMi Note 9 Pro, when I make a call on 4G Airtel network(at least 4 bars) the data connection drops to an average g of 1.2kbps.
I have used the same Sim in the same area in my previous phone the Honor 9 Lite but it doesn't face any problem. Whenever I get a call on that phone the 4G data speed increases.
On the RedMi note 9 pro the data gets completely disconnected and even after I cut the call the data remains disconnected for 2 minutes or so. After that I resumes back. It even gets lesser speeds that my previous phone.
Sometimes the data drops without any reason. It stays disconnected for a minute or so and then tries to connect back. It has got horrible ping.
Anyone facing the same issues?
Having the same issue here. I modified phone settings several times and try with another apps but nothing working so far
I MAY HAVE FINALLY FIGURED OUT A POSSIBLE SOLUTION!
Disable "Dual 4G" option in the settings.
No issue so far for 3 days now
