Sorry if I am posting this to the wrong forum. It's my first time posting to XDA. Also sorry if this is a stupid question (it most likely is).
As the title says:
I have a Huawei Mate 10 Lite (RNE-L21)
Bootloader: Unlocked
Recovery: TWRP ( One from ROM's thread wouldn't work for me so i found other one. I didn't save the link, but i can provide .img )
ROM: LineageOS 15.1 ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...ment/rom-lineageos-15-1-mate-10-lite-t3823234 )
I wanted to use my device as a pen-testing tool so I installed Kali Linux using Linux Deploy and after everything was ready I tried to put my internal network card into Monitor Mode and... I realized that my phone doesn't support that. I have read that the solution is to use external adapter ( I have standard TP-LINK TL-WN722N ) but to do this I need to clone my kernel form it's source, do some fixing and build it. But here is the thing... The instructions are too unclear for me. English isn't my native language. I am actually quite good at english, but it's not enough for something as complex as this. ( After a couple of tries I checked if maybe porting NetHunter's kernel would be somewhat easier, but here the instructions are even more unclear. )
Could someone please: link some clear or more detailed guide ( for fixing and building normal kernel or porting NH's) or build the kernel for me? ( I'll provide some files if needed )

Excuse me, I am sorry that this is off-topic and doesn't really help your problem, but I would appreciate it a lot if you tell me how you unlocked your bootloader, I tried everything available and failed. If I am successful in doing so I will attempt installing NetHunter myself and inform you of how is it going to go on.

Jeez. I didn't even remember making this post until I got an email saying you replied to it lol. We'll if memory serves right, it was right around the time that Huawei decided they wanna undo the last good thing about their phones and took down the bootloader unlock service. I searched everywhere, but for some reason at the time the only solution seemed to be DC Unlocker. It's not ideal cuz the guy who made the tool knew that apparently only he knew a way around Huawei's security and could retrieve the code from within the phone, so he put everything behind a paywall, but at the time it was like 4€ so I just gave in and paid so I can have a usable phone with no Chinese spyware. Maybe now there are some other methods besides DC Unlocker, but I have no idea since I don't use that phone anymore. Also if you decide to use that tool read the instructions carefully beacuse when I was doing it I'm pretty sure it worked only if you were below Android Oreo. Good luck mate.

To add to what all above members have contributed , I can say that
Modaco is a master chef and adds all tasty ingridients and spices to our taste.
sorry can we just take a step back a moment? (sorry to sort of hijack this thread with another question, though related)
can someone explain what rooted means in terms of these phones?
im also new to using smart phones, great phone, though when something goes wrong its bit more tricky to sort out.

you can execute commands as user "root". means you can do everything, including access every part of the filesystem, delete/replace/alter every file. wifi or bluetooth tethering needs it for example. also droidwall, which can control web access for apps.
ok i understand that. so does that mean i could delete things like the stocks n shares app along with peep and other things i dont need or want?
Would this enable me to change the colour of the menu bar at the bottom or even the whole theme itself? if so could someone direct me on what to do?dont want to mess anything up.
but also as buzjay asks is the new update neccesary?
sorry these questions must sound so simple lol just want to make sure before i go delving into the bowls of the phone.
thanks
- yes
- yes. ask someone in the themes section who already did it or find out by looking at their themes.
- it is not "necessary". your phone does make calls without it, doesn't it?
Hey I have been searching for days,
My phone always showing an error - "Storage Space running low" so I want to delete my logs from the data ... this is what i seen from one of the thread to remove this error. If there is a any other way... please share with me.
I just want to root my phone.

Build number = JZO54K.I9100XWLSW
Please share the require steps and file to root my phone.
Thanks in Advance!
Amit
We're not going to regurgitate stuff step by step when it's been done thousands of times before here over the past two & a half years. There is a thread stickied near the top of Q&A which has a simple root method (and the whole point of having this thread stickied is so this stuff doesn't have to be posted in thread after thread for any n00b who can't search).
If that guide doesn't do it for you, search better. I mean, this phone was released 2.5 yrs ago, hundreds of thousands of people have rooted the phone with info found here, and that info is easily found by searching.
Same Phone Version... No kernel found.
I have the exact same phone description.
I went trought a lot of tread and list of kernel that I was suppose to choose from: I didnt find anything that correspond to my kernel version so far. It might be that I am not a total expert and that I am not able to recognise the proper download or we got a very rare version???
I tried a dozen so far, never work for all the possible reasons.
I know the process, I know all I need to know. I just dont find the one that fits my phone.
shanty31 Did you succeed finding one working? Anyone can only point out the proper kernel I need?
Thats gonna be my christmas present
Its not rare at all.Its the standard build for unbranded UK for starters.
kah!
Are you done spamming the board ? (you do realise mods will delete your posts if they see you're posting crap to get 10 up).

At least hes not moaning lol.......
Ok... not rare. But still. Does that help me?
ANY kernel I tried end up with my phone not booting, boot loop, not switching on.
In ALL the list of kernel I have found so far, not a single one ''look like'' to be corresponding to what I need. Is there something I dont understand?
Yes I am new to rooting, but I have read and try and test.
The only thing I know I am doing wrong is FINDING the kernel corresponding to what I need.
It is no use to post anything if it is only to laugh at me or to tell me obvious things... I have done my homework.
Thank you again gang!
Amit
I am still searching for the right kernel version to complete the step to root my phone, but unfortunately not able to do that.
If possible, any one can share the right link to root the above version of phone we have.
Thank you

Amit

Hi! I found something that work :
You read that tread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
In the post #3 there is instruction for a method without using Odin.
I used that file:
PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSZ-OJC-5.15.9-signed
Found at this location in SEARCH section: (or use Google)
http://d-h.st/
Don't Unzip the file, leave it as it is.
I was not expecting using that method... it end up to be easier and faster than Odin.
My phone is now Unlock and work perfectly
Leave me your feedback of how it went with your phone... or any question
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but I'll come to the point straight away, Rooting is really an essential craft to learn if you are a developer or not and you own a phone that runs android.
I set about rooting this Honor Holly ( hol-u19 ) and the main hurdle I saw was many forums talking many things but none of them made any sense because all they do is tell you to download some software and install it on your computer that computer essentially is or must be windows.
Now first that I'm not a windows user and an developer it occured to me what must be going on behind these applications that one installs that roots their phone and on the wider scale what rooting really is.
I found some really nice guides there was this blog named rojtberg.net and followed but I found that first you need to unlock the bootloader in order to do anything else so I started to find the ways to find the bootloader code, but to no avail so I started thinking about how other people have unlocked their device's bootloader without the unlocking code and decided to write this post.
I hope whoever writes a comment or post really knows the insights of what is going on and can provide with better solutions that might help other people also rather than downloading and installing some software that you don't even know what it does.
Sinch I have this device Honor Holly ( hol-u10 ) by Huawei so I'd be really glad if someone posts answers specific to this device but I'd be fine if people post generic answers which apply to all conditions.
Thanks
Hi! First of all... Sorry for bad English! I am German and was smoking to much in school.
I hope you understand what I mean in this post. So lets begin...
I don`t want to call anything bad here on this forum, or criticize anyone of you. I am very grateful for the many work and time that most of you spend for all of this. But I am a newbie and must write something, that myself and many other newbies are thinking, but not writing, about many threads. As an example,
the Thread "{Android 7 - EMUI 5.0} VNS-L31/L21/L11/L23 C432B329 {FULL/LEAK} [28-11-16]", linked here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...t/android-7-emui-5-0-vns-l31-l21-l23-t3513816
I read about this Android 7 firmware and was very interested to flash it. But as a newbie, I wanted to collect as much information as possible about this firmware (general Informations, How to flash, Problems, what to do if it fails, ...). Because I think that this forum is the best at web, I searched for these informations here and began to read everything I could find about it. But on most threads, like my example thread, I have a problem, because I did not understand, if its up to date or not. And if the problems, other users write about are still there, or if they were fixed allready. There are to many posts, where users write about different problems. So it often makes me confused, because I am not sure if answers are for problem user1 posted or for problem that was posted by another user. If its quoted, ok. But its still very difficult to understand what is up-to-date and if problem would be fixed now or not. Sometimes I read all of these posts and at the end I understand nothing anymore, because everyone is writing about different problems. So it feels like chaos for me. Then it happened that sometimes users say that there are no problems anymore, and at next page someone writes that there is still problem. Some users post links to websites, threads or files and next user posts links to websites and files too. And then I am thinking about, if they are writing about same problem, if I need all of these stuff or not, what I must flash first, if problems exist if I flash linked file from user1 or if it might be fixed at linked file from user2, .... Then I asked myself which one of this is the newest and up-to-date and if this was the one I get shown at started post on first page (I mean If it was updated by thread starter or if someone posted a newer version at example page 23 of all replies)? How I know if these informations on page 1 are still up to date? At moment I did not understand if there are still problems, or not. And which of these files to flash, to fix problems. After many days I was reading now, I am still not sure if I could flash this firmware on my Huawei P9 Lite (VNS-L31 C432 B161) without getting problems, I read about. As an example, problems like these:
-Is camera working
-keyboard working
-display showing all ok
-mobile data working
-and others
And I don`t know if I must download and flash the files, posted on first page, to become most newest / most stable version, or if I might must read all pages of this thread, to find something posted, thats newer than information on first page? All together... my final question is: Are these informations and files that were posted on first page, all I need and up-to-date for flashing this firmware?
My greatest wish would be a general thread, where I could find all informations and files categorized in different threads, so that newbies like me could understand it better. As example, the thread "Huawei P9 Lite Firmware Compilations by ErvinSoliven", that were opened today by ErvinSoliven and linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...huawei-p9-lite-firmware-compilations-t3517124
I opened it and it shows me all the information (hope soon actually ) I was looking for, without reading all of the replys on many pages. This I think is a very good example thread on how to categorize different themes. And I think it would reduce questions, that were allready asked by other users for 5 or 6 times before. So If someone were willing to invest so much time for things like that, I would be very happy and grateful. Who wants to be that hero?
But at first, it would be the most important thing for me, if someone could post an up-to-date information thread about
flashing Android 7 on P9 Lite (VNS-L31 C432), inclusive
-links to needed files (Recoverys, Images, Fixes for camera..., and how to do it)
-informations what is fixed or still not working
-what to do if I get problems during it
It would really really help me, because reading so much posts, in a language that I did not understand very good, is very hard for me and makes me not sure, if I am doing all of this right or if I might did understand something wrong or choose wrong file, ...
I hope you all understand these things, I want to tell you, in this post here. If not, sorry again for this bad English! I tried my best.
At the end of this post, I want to say something again...
"Thanks" to all the people that have so much patience, spending many time and many work, for this great forum and teaching newbies like me! You are the best! Many thanks!!!

Please delete all that.
Please.
That tutorial on REDDIT is taken STRAIGHT from my WTF INSTRUCTIONS. If you look closely, he gives me credit. But most parts are copied word for word. I recognize my own phrasing.
Except NOW the Reddit version is OUTDATED.
You need to read the instructions here on XDA, where it was invented. AND KEPT CURRENT.
If you want Reddit, go back there and ask questions.
Otherwise follow the CORRECT Instructions here on XDA.
And stop posting bad info from other forums. You can say your followed it, but do NOT post bad, outdated information.
This is what you need, and where those Reddit instructions came from:
WTF BOOTLOADER UNLOCK, INSTALL TWRP AND ROOT -- AND UPDATE
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76584629&postcount=193
Mod Edit
You'll figure it out by reading and following my current Instructions.
You probably are still on early Oreo or wrong TWRP. You're not understanding you followed outdated Instructions.
Section 9 is about updating to Pie. Your Reddit stuff copied from HERE was written before LG stock Pie even existed.
Mod Edit
Hey friend, cool your jets, chazz asked nicely. He said please repeatedly. And he's the author of the instructions you've tried to follow.
As chazz explained, those ones are out of date. He linked you the recent instructions that I and many others used successfully to root and twrp our lgv30s to get into pie and now 10.
So, go easy pal. Chazz has spent ages helping others out. And his guides are pure gold.
I'd suggest you replace the out of date guidance with current, or better, just link to chazz guide directly in XDA. So others can see best guidance too. Then come telegram and you'll get plenty help there if you get stuck
And up to you ofc, but a little apology goes a long way to fix mistakes
Good luck
