Basically I've had my phone stock firmware for along time with TWRP but want to finally go AOSP. Can I twrp backup, Flash stock recovery, flash open kirin.... And if for some reason I'm not happy, if I reflash TWRP, will my backup still be there??
Doing anything on Huawei is such a pain.
And, why can't open kirin just be flashed in twrp? I would of done it along ago knowing I could just restore.

Backups are saved to /sdcard/, so unless you remove them from Internal Memory (By deleting the TWRP folder or Factory reset) they will still be there.
Please note that going from EMUI to AOSP will require a factory reset, same when you go back to EMUI. So keep a backup of backups on your computer.

a flashable backup?
Well, just copy the TWRP folder at the root of your internal sd. Paste it back when you want to restore backup using the Restore button in TWRP.

i am new to all this but managed to flash kh3 and root it.
i paid for the pro version of titanium and backed up everything on my galaxy s2 but it backs up to SD. isnt this the internal sd storage and thus would wipe when flashed with another firmware?? i looked into the CWM that came with the firmware but this is just a recovery console isnt it?
i guess i need some guidance of how to properly backup but maybe i want too much. i really was thinking along the lines of a ghost image of everything even things like APN settings etc.
any help appreciated guys.
The sd card isn't wiped when you install any other firmware.
The recovery console has a backup/restore feature, it makes an image of the firmware and software that's installed on the phone.
when i clicked the backup part of cwm it took me to the recovery console where it had factory reset, wipe partition ( or whatever it said) etc etc, i didnt then see it do a backup?

Sounds like you only have Recovery console & not CWM. If you had CWM, you would see tons of options.
I always have a backup of my current ROM in CWM it's absolutely essential in case things go wrong which they have on occasions, i also back up my apps weekly witt Titanium Backup and delete the previous backup.

Which kernel are you using?
kh3 from intratech's thread.
i downloaded rom manger and did the top option to get the latest cwm i think but when i tried to backup it errored and i had to press home to restart??
I just use titanium, backup all my apps to external sd card.
Format phone or install a new rom, and just restore all apps with 1-click via titanium.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but what the heck.
I have Titanium backup and it backs up to Dropbox. Now if I Flash a new ROM, how do I go about restoring the backup?
In WinMo I have a backup program that created a zipped up file of backups and a small exe file that unpacked and restored the files (complete restore, ROM upgrade restore, etc).
Should use both!

Batch restore.
Left button at the bottom of your phone > batch
Restore all from there.
If you set your folder location to an external sd card, you can format or install a new rom and your apps wont be touched. You can do a batch restore of all your apps from within titanium.

Well that's your problem, your using a stock kernel, use cf-roots kernel that has cwm already built in.

Combine titanium media sync with titanium backup and you are sorted.
I have set automatic backup once a week, all is then synced via dropbox when i connect my phone on charger. This way I also backup all the pics and videos I take.
One thing I was wondering is there anyway to have titanium and premiere key backed up initself....in the sense that whenever I restore I always have to go to market get the key and the titanium app then started restoring...maybe I could go to my storage install them from there then reinstall instead off faffing with the market?

Tried to find a similar thread but failed so I ask here.
I have a 10.1 Wifii & 3G
Did a full backup with Rom manager before doing anything.
Upgraded to overcome ROM 2.
Realized that there was no Swedish language in the ROM, so I decided to go back to the backed up ROM instead.
When I choose Restore in the Rom manager menu, my restore is there and it looks like it is working. It reboots, it checks the files, applies all img and other files, BUT. When it's done it just sits there on the Overcome CwM Recover v5.1.2.6. It feels like it never gets done? I also tried to do a restore from inside the nandroid menu but same thing. I also tried to wipe several time, but same thing. If I try to reboot the 10.1, it gets stuck on the splash screen.
SO, my question.
I really want to keep my data on the sdcard...
Scared of doing the restock on teamovercome homepage because it says
-"IT WILL ALSO WIPE OUT YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE!"
Is there any tips anyone can give me. Is this because my old ROM had different(older) boot files or something?

Try installing CWM 4.0.0.4 using Odin and restore the backup and see if it works.
A small advice: Don't use ROM Manager for creating backups and restoring. Always do from the CWM directly. ROM Manager usually messes up the things

I already had that version, but i tried to downgrade but same issue.
Can one extract data from the backup, example favorities and manually add them ? If so wich img file is that and how do i open them?

You can use the paid version of Titanium Backup.
It can restore individual apps+data from CWM backups

once you have twrp flashed or side loaded, click the backup button. Then backup what you need. I believe the system partition is all that needs to be restored to get OTAs, but I'd backup the boot img anyways (especially if you are going to flash custom kernel).
The easiest way to get the backup off your watch is via ADB. But i believe you can use an app from playstore to copy from watch to your phone if you dont have ADB setup on a computer. Backups are saved to /sdcard/TWRP

Hi! I have a Leeco Le Max 2 X829, and as there aren´t any official stock ROM I wanna save a 100% stock Backup of my X829 with 16S USA ROM. I mean ROM + Recovery, just as it is unpacked(without downloaded Apps and my data).
Could I make it booting in temporaly TWRP with fastboot and doing NAND backup choosing:
- Boot
- Recovery
- System
- Data...
Any other option? All options that TWRP show? thanks!

If you just want a factory setup without your apps and data I would say just backup the system image in twrp, backing up data definitely uncheck .

eUI is not that bad and until we all get the update to android 7 ... it s probably the best and most stable rom running.
Why change it, when the other opportunities are leading to an less smooth running phone ?
To me all the cooked roms have disadvantages.
I need to have a fully working phone/ camera /fingerprint sensor...
without option to go back to the US rom I wouldn't change a thing!

Don't listen to them. Back up everything. Who cares about a few space? Besides data is probably empty or with a few stock tools. Just backup all for your complete image. EFS contains IMEI and other stuff. It is important to have it. You can Back up everything, and then move it to a computer or somewhere else
It will have stock recovery backed up to TWRP and it's better if you backup as image, that way it saves the partition structures too.
Only first backup as image,to have perfect copy, the next backups you do is better do them as normal backups compressed (not image).

Yes those are md5 or Sha sums, drag the whole TWRP folder to computer and you are good to go, don't change any name of any folder inside TWRP folder or TWRP will never detect that backup.
I don't know why but once I copied all except 73shf38 folder, and it turned out that folder with those numbers matter, and I couldn't restore without the exact name

Yes a nandroid backup (aka twrp backup) saves a snapshot of the system in time so it doesn't matter what you do afterwards, once you restore the backup your device will go back to the same exact spot as it was the time when you'd taken the backup. Also when you often hear ppl say take backup before trying new update/rom/zip, this is exactly what they mean.
And yes you don't need pc as long as you can access your backup through otg USB/memory card etc.

Take care to backup the system image and not system. And use the same version of TWRP for backing up and restoring. Both these are not a must but to be on the safer side.
