Sirui smartphone lenses - OnePlus 6T Accessories

I have been looking for some good quality lenses to improve phone photography, I found out that the Sirui lenses are the best compared to moment lenses. However these can be expensive, but the quality is most likely the cause for the price to be expensive.
I live in the netherlands, the cheapest way to buy a set of 3 lenses as a bundle is possible through amazone US, totall cost would be around 215 dollar including shipment and import duties. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBJWGZL?pf_rd_p=1581d9f4-062f-453c-b69e-0f3e00ba2652&pf_rd_r=WPHH3DNHYPPPQV8SQ3YC
Next I found that same Sirui lens bundle on ebay and aliexpress, both are priced at 137 dollar with free shipment, wich offcours would take about one month to arrive.
Sirui seems to be a Chinese brand, but their lenses are high quality, In the Netherlands if you want to buy that same Sirui lens I described above, you will pay 225 Euro ! which is insane.
Has anyone bought anything from a chinese supplier, in this case a lens, a premium lense for your smart phone like the Sirui.
I would like to hear your experience and advice, if I should buy it from the chinese supplier on ebay which is cheaper then the amazone import way, buying in the netherlands is just too expensive.

I follow this.

24x needs LIGHT. I guess outside on the sunny day will work fine..
But 12x is nice.
I'm NOT a pro.

I'll chime in.
I bought the sirui 60mm from Amazon. And it surpassed my expectations by a far amount. It's incredibly Sharp for a mobile camera lens. I honestly did not think it'd perform anywhere close to what it does. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
I also bought a Moment 18mm wide v2 lens. And although the build material and feel is 10x better than the Sirui 60mm tele, the image quality does not make me feel inspired.
Both lenses share the same bayonet mount.
Both lenses are paired to my 6T using the new Rhinoshield Solidsuit cases and their optional new lens adapter release in November 2018.
To save money, considering how well the Sirui 60mm tele performs, I would not hesitate to buy the Sirui wide lens as well.
I own a Sony A7RIII with the GM 85mm f/1.4 and the GM 24mm f/1.4.

so you were able to apply the sirui lens without issue on your rhino shield lens adaptor ? could you give an in depth analysis.. I mean is the lens really secure or a bit loose, does it feel safe on a rhino shield lens adaptor and easy to mount.
also another question, is it possible to use the rhino shield lens adapter on other oneplus 6t cases if so which ones did you try.

I can take some pictures later. The new Rhinoshield adapter uses the same Mount as moment. It's a very hard plastic as opposed to moments cases which has bad reviews (read Amazon, they're bad) for breaking down pretty quickly.
The Sirui (and moment lens) mounts on confidently and stays put. It won't come off unless you start to undo it. There's enough friction to securely hold it in place. Mounting the lens is straight forward. There's no trick here. Get it into the groove, twist and lock.
I've tried the $5 Rhinoshield adapter on the stock OnePlus 6t case. The silicone one. And although it kinda works, it'll bulge the case and the adapter will move around if you're not careful.
The adapter, really, was designed specifically for the Solidsuit only because the Solidsuit case has a perfect little groove that the adapter sits in allowing it to be flushed with your phone and not move anywhere.
I also own 5 other phone case for the 6t and the adapter does not fit any of then (including the Spigen liquid air). The adapter is just too wide and won't even fit thru the camera hole.
As far as the $5 adapter goes for the 6T, it's the SAME one as the one for the OnePlus 6. Yes the 6.
I got impatient wondering the same questions you guys were asking and before the Solidsuit and adapter was released for the 6t, I got the adapter alone from Amazon.
The only problem with Rhinoshield sharing the 6T adapter with the 6, is that the back camera bump hump on the older OnePlus 6 is significantly taller than the OnePlus 6T. So reusing this adapter means there is a noticeable larger empty space between the phones lens to the Sirui or moment lens. This is called the FLANGE DISTANCE. Kinda like how you can't use DSLR lenses on mirrorless camera bodies unless you have an adapter that gives the proper spacing.
So where does this bring me? In my observation, the moment wide lens requires a SHORTER flange distance to avoid significant vignetting in the corners. It's needs to be closer to the phones camera lens.

great info, however i dont really understand the downside about the camera lens adapter, so from my understanding; the rhino shield lens adapter works best with a oneplus 6 rather then a oneplus 6t ? because the distant of the moment/sirui lens through the adapter is closer on the camera lens and therefore can shoot better pictures. Is that what you mean, If thats the case then im doomed with my 6t I guess, i invested some money in the sirui lens set kit. Waiting for a moment oneplus 6t case is just gona take very long.

Let me clarify: using the Rhinoshield adapter works best with the Sirui lens. It doesn't work well with the moment lens.
This is because the adapter was made for the OnePlus 6 and not the 6T.
Now, if Rhinoshield made a new adapter for the 6T, the flange distance would be much shorter because the 6Ts camera hump is smaller.

so sirui lens is the best on the rhino lens adapter, but the fact that the adapter in combination with sirui lenses works best on a oneplus 6 rather then the 6t is still evident right, unless rhino makes a complete new adapter for the 6t with a shorter flange distance.

coule you make a couple pictures with your oneplus 6t with rhino lens adapter in combination with al of your sirui lensed that you got.
We would like to see how bad it can be and if there are condition where you can notice problems faster, in images taken with your sirui attached to the rhino lens adapter.

Rhino case with Sirui lenses
Just got the rhinosheild case with the adapter. Really impressed so far, much better case than moment. (I had the moment case on my Pixel 2 XL). I could use this as my everyday case and be ok with it. https://imgur.com/a/JVVziIJ

nice, i see that your using a blue sirui lens which is the tele lens/portrait. Could you share a couple pics taken with your sirui lens on your rhinoshield case.
Also why do you think the moment case is worse then a rhinoshield case.

The case is just better quality, I particularly like the buttons, the mute/vibrate/sound but has a small extension that makes it really easy to use.
One thing to note however, flash will not work with the lenses attached. This not an Rhinoshield issue however. The lense covers the flash, its an issue of the bottom camera being the main camera.

Any case that better protect the Camera?

Are there any case in the wild that offers better protection around the camera? Currently using the TPU case that came in the box and while I like it, i am not able to place the phone on a flat surface as I believe the edges of the camera is exposed and would like to keep that from scratches and damages. If anyone has or knows of a case which better protects the camera, I ll be interested.
Thanks in advance.
not yet, got the spigen Rugged Armor, the lens is too flush with the case. a drop on the back and the lens will crack
I was thinking the same thing. The lens sticks out at the back and the case that comes with the phone just sits flush with this. I'm concerned about just lying the phone on to the table with the lens rubbing on something and getting scratched
Interested to see what other people are going with. For now i'm using the in box clear case. Mobilefun seem to be the only place (UK) that have some options. Olixar brand have a few options but without reviews it's hard to tell how they'll fit. I know many case manufactures design cases before phones are released and working from a phone size spec doesn't always result in a good fitting case. Many of the case stock photo's i've seen have a mock P20 pro with a flat camera such as this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Flexible-A...8&qid=1523214240&sr=8-7&keywords=p20+pro+case As previous posts have mentioned ideally I want the case to protect the protruding camera while still be slim.
got the Olixar FlexiShield from amazom too https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BL27WMJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
sent it back, a bit better than the huawei case, there is a lip around the camera, but its very minimal, about half millimeter, so as long as you palce the phone on a flat surface you should be ok, but not if dropped and the overall protection is very bad too, screen is pretty much unprotected,
I've got this one arriving tomorrow. From the photos it looks like it should have good camera protection.
I found a few interesting cases on eBay. It'll be a week or two before they arrive. They're cheap and look like they offer better protection for the camera. I'll save spending big bucks for when something reliable shows up

I'd be a bit concerned with that one, the images are clearly mock-ups as they show all 3 cameras flush with the phone's rear which obviously isn't the case with this phone.
It arrived today and protection is good. Great fit, good grip, easy press buttons, good cut outs for speakers etc, nice lip to protect the screen and the rear lens is not quite flush so doesn't touch when placed back down on a table etc.
Bargain for the price and I'm very happy
I just got this case. I think AliExpress selling it for few USD... The camera lens is only slightly lower but will do for the time being while hunting for a better one like uag.

Yeh I randomly ordered it as I didn't realise there was going to be a case inside the box. However am glad I did as its pretty sturdy and will absorb some of the impact. Also like how the gaps are not too large against the ports.
Usually i bought Spigen thin fit for all my phones, but, until now, they don't have for p20 pro.
I´m looking for something light and thin.
I bought some tempered glass protectors for the three lenses on aliexpress but they haven't arrived yet. Will post an update after I try them.

I received this one today and tbh it seems pretty good, nice fit and protects the lenses nicely round the back, only negative would be it doesn't have raised sides to protect the screen when face down
Anccer Huawei P20 Pro Case [Serie Matte] Resilient Shock Absorption and Ultra Thin Design Cover (Smooth Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPGHDJS?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I'm currently using the case that came with the phone, but I'm after the smart view case (have it on my Mate 10 Pro) and also after a screen protector as unlike the Mate 10 Pro, you don't get one
I received my MOFI hard case and while it fits beautifully , it offers 0 protection for the dual cameras they are flush with the case. i also grabbed the MOFO full screen tempered glass and that also fit great but has left a "oil slick" look to the middle of the screen, i'm hoping this goes away after a few day. But if not i would shy away fro the MOFI stuff. ill post up if the screen spot goes away.
I'm looking for a slim case with holes for a lanyard/wrist cord.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Spigen Rugged Armor for Huawei P20 Pro - Review

Spigen has been my go to case maker for the last 5 years and once again I was not dissapointed with the quality. The case is a perfect fit for my Huawei P20 Pro and looks stylish. All buttons and ports are easily accessible (there are cutouts for cameras, speakers, USB C port, IR blaster and microphone). The case doesn't add too much bulk and the buttons are easy to press. There is a lip on the front surrounding the display that should protect it from drops face down.Would definitely recommend. The camera on the back doesn't stick out and the phone lies flat on the table.
For 9.99£ it's a bargain imo. Link to Amazon.
I've decided to live dangerously with this phone, I've ordered a KitBag from Amazon and will have no case or screen protector on it, unless a DECENT full coverage one comes along
I got the same thing but unbranded for £3.99 on ebay. literally exactly the same.

Thank you for posting this review. I was about to buy one too but was concerned If any of the camera bump stuck out or was nicely tucked in. Spigen rugged armour is the best phone case I've ever had. incredible shock protection yet doesn't scratch funny enough. They clean up great and look new throughout (or at least mine does).
Damn, just got this case. Really slick, I'm a little worried about the camera it's rather flush but better than nothing haha

I can vouch for the Slim Armor case. Just picked up a P20 Pro yesterday and Spigen was my go-to brand and it's really nice and not super bulky.
The rugged armor is good but the glass screen cover that Spiegen offers is crap! I've had it on the phone for 2 days, just took it out of my pocket and theres a crack right across the screen cover! This is with the Rugged Armor on the phone too, so theres a nice big lip above the screen cover to protect the edges. Nothing else in my pockets either, I'm very careful with my phones.
I have to disagree with the above ref the Spigen screen protector, I have had one on for 3 weeks and am really impressed with it. My phone has been with me everywhere in that time and has taken a couple of drops and knocks and the cover is holding up really well, also it looks and feels far better than the others I have tried. I'm using with the Slim Armor and together it's very well protected
I'd be surprised if the screen protector just magically broke on it's own. Probably just took some minor impact at a fateful angle. Maybe ask Spigen for a warranty and see what happens.
I returned my spiegen tough armour because of the lack of camera protection.
went with this instead... purchased 3 of them(different colors)
great case with camera protection
Dooqi Huawei P20/P20 Pro/P20 Lite Ring Stand Holder Shockproof Rugged Case Cover
I got the Spigen case before I picked up the P20 Pro. Never had an issue with it; I even stuck an iRing to the back of the case so that it gives me some added security if I somehow lose grip of the case.
It's true that the camera hump is close to the plastic spigen back. But it is enough to protect the camera. There is no doubt that it could be better. Spigen have recognised this and brought out a new case. See the spigen website

RhinoShield Add-On Lens Adapter, experience ?

Does anyone have experience with the Rhinoshield lens adapter, currently they have various adaptors for different phones. I have already a set of lenses from Sirui, the sirui lenses are in design the same as moment lenses but sirui lenses have more sharpness and detail.
Ordering a moment case for the oneplus 6t is not yet available untill march, it will take a long time to get one. Good thing about the moment cases is that they also fit with the Sirui lenses.
But this Rhinoshield lens adaptor seems interesting and almost looks the same as a moment lens slot, I would like to know if these adaptors can fit on different phone cases rather then rhinoshield cases, and most importantly if they do fit with Sirui and moment lens.
Please share your experience !

Yup I wrote it. Their (moment) lens is compatible with the rhino adapter. But the wide v2 lens creates a hint of vignetting due to the distance it sits from the rear camera lens. It's not significant but enough to notice if you're doing landscape and want every corner detail.
The suiri tele head no vignetting on the Rhinoshield case/adapter combo.
Thanks this is helpful. I'm getting my adapter in a few days. I'm hoping one of the cases I already have will work.

Hey, just a quick question, noticed any of those issues with the Sirui Wide? Any vignetting, any fitment issues? Because I am about ready to pull the trigger on a rhinoshield sirui combo and forget Moment altogether... I'm very wary of their cases at the moment having seen quite a few complaints about durability...

I will upload a few pictures i took from my oneplus 6t device with the sirui tele lens, and wide. I will be using a oneplus 6 nylon case, strangely enought the oneplus 6 nylon case fits in the oneplus 6t device and most importantly ! the rhino lens adapter fits on the nylon case of the oneplus 6, I am most certain that the nylon case of a oneplus for the 6t would also fit with the rhino lens adapter, however I dont own a oneplus 6t nylon case, I tried with my oneplus 6t carbon fibre, but the rhino lens adaptor wont fit in it because that case is too tight.
I will also share a a couple pictures taken with a oneplus 6t with the rhino shield lens adaptor and the rhino shield wide lens, combined with the rhino shield oneplus 6t case, these are pictures I received from a dutch company who sells those accesorries for oneplus devices only, I asked them to send me samples to see how bad the vignetting could be.
I will share it very shortly with you guyes !

Something to mention; all attached lenses on the devices always cover the second oneplus lenses which is responsible for taking portrait pictures with bokeh effect, the Google cam does not rely on the second lens for portrait bokeh effect but rather on its own software which is a good thing.
I took a pictures with google cam with portraid mode and also a picture with Oxygen cam with portrait, you can decide which one you preffer looks better. I personally like the Google cam portraid mode.
I also attached a few pictures of the sirui lens combined with oneplus 6 nylon case and the rhino lens adapter. My oneplus 6t has a dbrand cover, I think the cover adds some layer on the lens adapter which might increase the flange distance and pressent slightly more vignetting then it normally would.

Add-on Lens - Moment, Rhinoshield, Sirui

I've tried to find a perfect add-on Lens experience on my OP6T. I've tried the following Lens and Mobile Case, and my findings are as follow!
Things I've bought and tried.
Moment
- Case for OP6T
- Moment Wide 18mm Lens
RhinoShield
- Solidsuit protective case
- "4K HD Wide + Macro" Lens
Sirui
- 18mm Wide Lens (First generation)
- 18mm Wide Lens (Second generation) + CPL
===== Case comparison ======
The build quality of both Moment and RhinoShield cases are good ! However, if you want to use the case with Add-on Lenses, for RhinoShield case, you will have to purchase a separate adapter to mount the lens on the case. For the Moment case, the Lens mount is build-in on the case, no separate adapter is needed. So, for mounting Lenses, Moment win !
Although I like the one-piece design of the Moment case + mount, personally, I will choose to use the RhinoShield case for my everyday use. The main reason is that, maybe my hands are not big enough, the Moment case feels a little bit more bulkier than the RhinoShield case. The RhinoShield case is more comfortable to use, especially when you are browsing the internet with one hand only.
===== Wide angle Lenses comparison ======
Although all three companies have revamped their Lens mounting system in 2018/2019, somehow, all the lenses are compatible with the two cases.
As I'm talking about wide angle Lenses, vignetting is the major concern. For Vignetting with these lenses on OP6T (Yes, the same lens may have different vignetting level on different mobile devices, here, I'm only referring to my OP6T)
Sirui Gen.1 > RhinoShield > Sirui Gen.2 > Moment
For Sirui Gen 1 wide angle lens, the vignetting is quite obvious.
For RhinoShield, the vignetting is obvious, especially at the top two corners
For Sirui Gen 2, the results seems surprisingly good, with a little bit vignetting, one extra mark for the Sirui Gen 2 lens, even with the CPL added on-top, it won't add extra burden to the vignetting.
Winner is the Moment Lens on Vignetting, can't see clear vignetting
Overall, I would prefer to use the RhinoShield case + Moment or Sirui Gen 2 wide angle Lens.
No examples?

Really interresting setup, can you give a comparison of the sirui gen 1 on the rhino shield case and the moment case, to compare which case has the worst vignetting. Also compare the sirui gen 2 with the rhino shield case and moment case, to see which case has the worst vignetting.

Well, interesting thoughts. From my general impression, the vignetting were mainly caused by the lenses, both cases+mount systems perform similarly. Again, I will try to shoot some examples when I have time.
Sample Photos
Here are the sample photos: I will divide them into two posts:
1st Post - Rhinoshield case + different lenses
2nd Post - Moment case + different lenses
From my observation:
Vignetting
Sirui Gen.1 > RhinoShield > Sirui Gen.2 > Moment
Distortion
Rhinoshield > Sirui Gen1 > Sirui Gen2 > Moment
Sample photos batch 2
2nd Post - Moment case + different lenses

Great setup !
You have done an interesting observation. I heard from someone in this community, that vignetting happens when there is a distance from the phone lens and lens equipment which you would attach, end result will show vignetting in wide shots mostly.
But still you managed to show different results when you attached the sirui gen 1 wide vs moment wide with the moment case. I mean, I was expecting the same result from the sirui gen 1 on an moment case, why did this happen, what made it cause to have vignetting on the sirui gen 1. This observation was also the same on the rhino shield case.
The Sirui gen 2 seems to have a less wide angle compared to the moment wide and sirui gen 1 wide, for that reason I suspect the vignetting on the sirui gen2 are minimal.
But Im really curious about the cause of the difference between the sirui gen1 wide vs moment wide on both cases attached, does it has to do something with the design of the mounting hole of the lens, I mean is the mounting hole of the moment lens thicker or smaller ? Would be interresting if you could observe the actual cause and share some thoughts and pictures of the design difference of both lenses.
Hi all,
sorry to bump a slightly old thread, but I'm looking forward to buy a lenses kit for my Galaxy Note 9 and I'm undecided for the Sirui kit.
I've read that there are two different generations for the Sirui lenses, but how do you recognize the first from the second? Are there any aestethic differences to look for?
Many thanks for your attention.
Best regards

I'm not sure about how to tell them apart but the ones for sale currently are going to be the new Gen 2. The old versions look like then gen 1 Moment lenses - which you can see a few left on Moment's website.
I have the Sirui lenses and love them all! I use them with a Rhinoshield adapter one my factory transparent OnePlus case. Works like magic.

Question S23 Ultra Cases

Hi people, does anyone know, or did anyone hear/read if S22 Ultra cases are compatible with the S23 Ultra since they look pretty much identical?
Unlikely it will fit.
Zizo will release one eventually. They're good cases with excellent impact protection.
That's a heavy phone that loves to corner hit... it needs a good case to survive.

At the moment I am using an UAG Monarch on my S22, which is imo very good. I wasnt sure if I needed a new one since they are not cheap lol
Bit of a shame they havent done the LED View cover this time around, but trying out the clear view one, which looks like the S View one from the 22.
Seems to be a big focus on recycled materials, when I got my S21 case it was all antimicrobial etc. as well.
Unfortunately they are not interchangeable. I have a Spigen Thin Fit arriving later this week to tide me over until the new dbrand grip becomes available.
I've have several brands of cases for my S22U. The dbrand grip is the case that checks all the right boxes for my needs.
I got the OtterBox Defender Pro with holster on the way. Have used it for S20U and S22U. I work in a punishing environment and for the protection it provides it can't be beat. My S20U and S22U both hit the concrete floor in our restaurant kitchen multiple times and never got a scratch even on the case.

I get the Zizo Bolt for my N10+'s for around $20.
They've sucked up some nasty drops onto concrete; both Notes look like they're new. It will take a few weeks to months but Zizo specializes in Samsung cases. They'll punch them out soon.
Zizo's don't attract dust and grim, are easy to clean, don't damage the frame rail, are relatively compact, dissipate heat fairly well and can take a beating. The case never comes apart from drops; they can withstand multiple impacts intact. The rear kick stand tends to break from use but this doesn't effect the protection.
If you do drop a Note be aware the spen tends to pop out even be ejected. Don't step on it or leave it behind Still using my original spens as well.
I went for this from Poetic.

Apparently one site says the screen has less curve so it wouldn't fit even if it was the same dimensionally.
(I was wondering the same since I had a S22U Pelican case but no device.)

I good fit is imperative. Samsung changes it just enough to avoid being accused of using leftover S22U parts

No they won't fit. Supersaf covered that in one of his video.
Well I went for Spigen this time as opposed to UAG since the prices went up a bit. Today I received the Spigen Rugged Armor, and I will honestly say the quality seems really really good, it has extra protection on the corners, and it feels amazing in the hand + its pretty cheap. I also have the Samsung Leather Case coming with the phone so I'll keep everyone updated in case anyone is interested.
As I wrote in other thread

That one is very similar to the Nillkin Leather Case here. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0BR3SNDHR/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_7?smid=A309VPOTQ0GC0S&psc=1
