I see Huawei isn't providing unlock codes anymore, so I've been researching options before purchasing this phone. Having a rooted, unlocked phone with TWRP is rather important, imho.
It looks like this person successfully used DC Unlocker for ~$4: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78665569&postcount=392
However, other people say "Funky Huawei" is the only working one, which is much more expensive: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78627440&postcount=6
I then see this post about firmware versions needed for DC unlocker to work, but for the Mate 10 "Pro" -- unsure if that also applies to the Mate 10: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/finally-unlock-bootloader-mate-10-pro-t3850111
Buying from here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Huawei-Mat...vHzekWP7zx0GEhBHmmrA:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true
... I'm unsure what firmware I'd get & I don't know how much that would matter. I'm hoping someone could help clarify: does DC Unlocker currently work on this phone, and how much trouble is it...?
Thank you!

BLA is the pro....
HUC is the one recommend in the guide u mentioned... Just a DC Unlock alternative from same developers...!
For what I read... It is about the firmware youare on... Mine is old... I think if ur security level is beyond June 2018...u can be less fortunate with the HUC... But it is just 4 EUR.... If u really want to unlock.... Try it....
Only way right now is:
HCU by dc-unlocker. This will not work on firmware after June 2018 (check security patch).
Ministry of solution, this service might come back, it's currently down and cost $30....
FunkyHuawei, expensive as hell.
You can also void your warranty by opening your device up and flash board software with testpoint. This would allow you to use HCU while on board software. This is not recommended at all if you don't know what you're doing.
Edit: Hopefully your firmware is not updated. DO not update when you get it.

It is a refurb, so warranty is likely already run out. May you point me to instructions to flashing board software with testpoint, just in case?

It's using old bootloader so chances are high, at least
You usually get a refund from DC anyway.
I just hope it doesn't complain about Security Patch date without even trying.

This guy:
https://ministryofsolutions.com/huawei-bootloader-unlock-paid-service-html
... said only 8.1.0.110C567 & 8.1.0.111(C567) is "supported" for his method, and not mine (8.1.0.120(C567))
After giving my information to global-unlocking-solutions.miiduu.com, they said "Yes, order and wait for updates to finish", which I presume is related to their "WE ARE TESTING THE HUAWEI BOOTLOADER CODES NOW: AFTER TEST RESULTS ORDERS WILL BE PROCEED" message on their website:
https://global-unlocking-solutions.miiduu.com/bootloader-unlock-codes-choose-model-below
I also presume this is the same thing that has FunkyHuawei (still) down.
I did try doing the "read bootloader code" from DC unlocker (without buying any credits yet), just to see what would happen, and got this message:
Reading bootloader code...
unknown error (375)
I assume if it was due to not having an account, it would say invalid username or not enough credits.... so I'm worried this means DC Unlocker won't work.
So, I'm kinda stuck, I guess? I don't want to use the phone, since I will have to either reset it when getting a bootloader unlocked, or "give up" on getting a bootloader code and update to EMUI 9.
Hoping for any advice...
I had 8.0.0.129 on my usa mate 10 pro with December security patch purchased 4 credits from DC logged in and was able to get my bl unlock code.
DC Unlocker support came back saying "your error means that current version of android in your device has new security patch and is not supported yet."
So, looks like I'm already past the point of no return (aka no "easy" bootloader unlock code). My best chance at getting a bootloader unlock code is via IMEI methods like FunkyHuawei if they return, which firmware & security patch version don't seem to matter. My phone apparently is covered under a warranty, which I don't want to invalidate (which unlocking your bootloader does). So, even if I got an unlock code, I'd likely not use it for awhile. Considering all of that, and the desire to start using my phone... I upgraded the firmware planning to get EMUI 9 Pie (which I'm clearly not going to get via custom ROMs anytime soon). If FunkyHuawei or the cheaper "global unlock" options return, I'll consider trying them out... :-/

You had 8.0.0.129, while I had 8.1.0.120. There are more numbers than just the last 3.
I tried DC Unlocker, and it gave me an error that everyone on the forum said means your Android version is unsupported. DC Unlocker's support said the same thing.
I'm glad you got yourself a bootloader unlock code. I wish I could have... maybe if the IMEI method opens up again (which I doubt), I'll get one someday...

Hi @ante0 / all
I note from https://ministryofsolutions.com/huawei-bootloader-unlock-paid-service-html that they want $4 (not $30)
BUT
They are also stating that "Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P20 Lite, Huawei P Smart (These models only supported if have older firmware version)"
I am stuck with two new-ish Mate 10 Pro phones that fail with DC tools. See https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=78901016#post78901016
I'm guessing my phone has new-er firmware and that's why DC tools failing
Any suggestions?

That's only for old phones/old firmware. New unlock was here: https://ministryofsolutions.com/huawei-bootloader-unlock-service-all-new-models-new-firmwares
But it's closed. It seems to be closed for everyone now so no go.
DC will only work on phones with firmware on May 2018 or earlier (In most cases. Some custs do work on June/July but that only seem to be the case with carrier custs)
So you're out of luck...

This is the official FunkyHuawei support thread.
FunkyHuawei is a (mostly) paid service which allows you to do the following:
1. Install the latest system software, even before it's released by OTA.
2. Install beta/prerelease system software, without needing to be a beta tester.
3. Recover a bricked phone.
4. Rebranding / Change the region of your phone (China -> Europe, for example, to get Google and so on.)
5. Root your EMUI 8 phone, even with stock recovery (This feature is free)
Except for rooting, all of these features are supported even if you cannot unlock your phone's bootloader.
To find FunkyHuawei, please Google it. Or you can find a link to the service as well as our rebranding tool within the following XDA Portal article.
https://www.xda-developers.com/exclu...-pro-firmware/
We are pleased to announce FHUnbrickFlashTool -- You can now repair any recent Huawei phone via fastboot, even if you cannot access eRecovery or boot the phone! Even if it doesn't show the Huawei logo, as long as you can get a fastboot connection to your computer, you can recover the phone! Google FHUnbrickFlashTool or check FunkyHuawei's reddit for details.
In cooperation with XDA, FunkyHuawei is offering a free credit to Recognized Developers and Recognized Contributers on XDA.
Please PM me for more details.
We will continue posting in this thread with updates regarding new software versions and releases regarding this device.
We will also be monitoring it so we can help anyone who has issues.
For device-specific information, please see the next post.
Honor V10 Information:
Rebranding (7 credits): You can rebrand the Honor V10 to and from the Chinese, Asian, and European versions.
We have released a special rebranding tool just for the Honor V10. You can find the link from the rebranding section of our website, or on our reddit. This new procedure avoids any issues with the device, and everything works after testing. We have tested rebranding Chinese to Asia and Europe brandings. Please use this FHRebrandToolBKLEdition, not FHRebrandTool, as this device has some differences from other devices we needed to address.
To rebrand to Chinese:
Use FHRebrandToolBKLEdition and choose BKL-AL20 for the model, and all/cn for the branding. Then use eRecovery method to install firmware from BKL-AL00 or BKL-AL20 section of our site, twice.
To change the phone to European, choose BKL-L09 and hw/eu branding in the tool. Then use eRecovery method to install the latest firmware from the BKL-L09C432 section of our site, twice.
To change the phone to Asia, choose BKL-L09 and hw/spcseas branding in the tool. Then use eRecovery method to install the latest firmware from the BKL-L09C636 section of our site, twice.
In most cases, you'll need to install the new firmware in eRecovery twice.
Unbricking (7 Credits): Contact FunkyHuawei support for help unbricking. You can use FHUnbrickFlashTool (google for FunkyHuawei Unbrick Flash Tool and check the page on our reddit.) You may also be able to use the eRecovery method if you can get into eRecovery.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does FunkyHuawei cost?
A: You need to buy credits on the FunkyHuawei website. The price per credit varies depending on the number of credits you buy. Different operations cost different amounts of credits. However, the Root feature of the Mate 10 tool is free, and as mentioned above, Recognized Developers/Contributors of XDA can ask for a free credit.
Q: My phone is bootloader locked, and FRP locked. My bootloader unlock code dosen't work. It won't boot. eRecovery doesn't work. Can you help?
A: Yes. With the Mate 10 this is now a common situation. Contact FunkyHuawei for help in this situation. We'll need to access your computer remotely and the procedure is a little bit complicated, but the phone can be unbricked.
Q: I can't get my bootloader unlock code/don't want to unlock my bootloader, but I want to change my phone to something other than Chinese. Can you help?
A: Yes. Our new FunkyHuawei Rebrand Tool works on ALL recent Huawei phones, to rebrand them to another region even when the bootloader is locked.
Q: I'm not seeing the latest version listed on FunkyHuawei or elsewhere as an OTA. Why not?
A: Huawei has a very odd and unpredictable way of rolling out OTA updates. You can use FunkyHuawei to install the new version immediately, or can wait for the update to be rolled out. It might be a month or more after release until the update reaches your device from Huawei directly. We have no idea why.
Q: Why isn't FunkyHuawei free?
A: Because many of FunkyHuawei's features cost FunkyHuawei money to provide. Features that don't cost FunkyHuawei money to provide, like rooting the Mate 10 or our TWRP build for Mate 9/Oreo, for example, are generally made available for free. There are also bills to pay, kids to put through school, and so on.
Q: I noticed FunkyHuawei in an XDA Portal article!
A: FunkyHuawei loves XDA, and is cooperating with them as much as possible. Recognized Developers and Contributors on the XDA forums are welcome to claim a free credit from FunkyHuawei as well.
Q: I have a different question.
A: This is what this thread is for! Post away!

Dear Team,
had used your tool for Root and unlocking my bootloader in Honor View 10, now i wish to unroot and lock the bootloader as rooting made many features blocked.
kindly help how to do this.

No. You need to use FHRebrandTool to rebrand the Honor V10.
Please google for honor v10 rebranding guide and check the result from the FunkyHuawei reddit for instructions.
The only version you can rebrand to right now is the European one, so that's what I'd suggest.

Let me know your email address from your funkyhuawei account by PM, and I can give you the credit, since you are a recognized contributor. However if you are on Andorid O with an Honor 9 as your message says, we'd need to have an Android O build for your phone/branding for it to work for you. Maybe you can let me know what branding your phone is (fastboot getvar vendorcountry)

Absolutely I don't want to rebrand my view 10, so what is this method? With the mentioned tool there are no way to root. I think that this thread is only a spam to make advertising and to get money.
There is a way to root Honor V10. From another thread, I read unlocking bootloader then flashing a modified boot img can do the trick. But when I read the Mate 10 thread about rooting, they've lost Theme customization, Android pay (deal breaker) and front camera bokeh effect (another deal breaker for selfie addicts? ). I wonder if Honor V10 has the same restrictions when rooted. Oh by the way, freezing/uninstalling some pre-installed apps when rooted can easily brick the phone. So I advise everyone not to freeze apps. That's why FH strongly discourages doing it. Other than that, we're good... ? ?

Hi, I have an M5 8.4 C636 which is Asia Pacific region and haven't had any updates since June. I'm running on version 153 but according to HFF app there are 2 new software versions (169 & 180) but they haven't come through on OTA and are not approved for installation (per HFF app) although they are correct for C636 regon
My bootloader is locked and I'm not rooted but I was going to unlock the bootloader and selected 'unlock bootloader' in developer options some time ago then decided not to unlock it. Think this has stopped the OTA updates.
Does anyone have any suggestions about manual update when none of the available software versions are approved for installation?
Thanks in advance

In the past they have been - but more recently, the speed has been OK. You just have to temper your expectations a bit.
Motorola used to have a reputation for fast updates, but when I last had a Motorola device, they were really slow at updates.
Huawei have committed to Android Enterprise, which delivers at least 1 major OS update (Android 9), and Google security patches for 3 years within 90 days of release by Google.
As we are on July 2018 patch, they have 30 days to deliver either Android 9 or Android 8 with a newer security update newer than July 2018, otherwise they fail at their enterprise commitment and leave themselves legally open to breaking contractual obligations (and potentially customer returns)
I'm on the August security patch for maybe the past two weeks so I'm hopeful that this will get updated regularly.

Hi, it's possible using paid services , e.g. "hcu-client" (4euros) . A8 Oreo is't supported, if you are running Oreo , you must downgrade to A7 Nougat via HiSuite.
If the roll back option is not available with your HiSuite ("switch to the older version", it may hapen), you must downgrade to the lower Oreo build version number doing the dload method (flashing Service ROM for your model and REGION (Cxxx)! This process will erase all your data!
Service ROM can be found here: https://androidhost.ru/search.html
. Type RNE- or Rhone- . Before you do anything, read carefully Software Upgrade Guidline in "ReleaseDoc" .
Hi,
I bought 1 year ago the Media Pad M5 Pro unbranded from eBay.
I never received any update till now Still on Android 8.0.0 ( Build Nr CMR-AL19 8.0.0.199 (C431)
Huawei Support told me multiple times there is no update available for my device.
But I think they are wrong.
I think it just got the wrong Cust (C431 is made for "providers" but mine has no brand but this firmware)
C432 receives all the updates from Huawei.
So my question is how I can change my Cust from C431 to C432 or directly flash a C432 firmware?
I hope someone can help me in easy steps I think I am not the only one on the whole internet with this problem but in non-forum a solution.

changing to c432 (which is the m5 wifi version, with Kirin 960s not Kirin 960) is quit risky - bootloop
but u could go for the testpoint method and flash treble gsi android 10, need to open bootloader
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/how-to/downgrade-unbrick-huawei-device-methods-t3915693
its a bit easier with HCU client and dc phoenix( u need the dc unlocker anyway -to unlock bootloader - unfortunatly no other way) but HCU is 20 bucks time license for 3 days
if you really want the the super easy way there is a guy doing it for 30 bucks but u need to give him access to your windows pc(i wouldnt do that) https://ministryofsolutions.com/paid-services
if u find an easier way pls tell me, i gave an cmr-w09 (m5 wifi) and its running super smooth on havoc os(custom android 10)
Any tutorials out there or here that instructs on unlocking the bootloader for this phone? Again, I am looking for the international version's tut, not the CN version.

I might have misread the comments, but why in here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/root-realme-gt-gt-neo-easily-tested-on-chinese-variant.4290569/, they say only tested in CN version? I don't want to risk buying a phone only to find out it is non-rootable, or testing something not officially being mentioned in https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1248075024070344704 that might hard brick my device. Also, I read that keeping the bootloader unlocked will disallow fingerprint scanning from working, as I was intended to keep my bootloader unlocked forever, because I don't to contact Realme servers everytime I want to confirm my submission in the Deep Testing app (I don't want to rely on having Realme support my device in their servers, as one day they might pull the plug out, and I can no longer get Realme to verify my device using this app).
I contacted the Realme EU support and they said that Realme has no plans on providing unlock codes for EU models. They apparently only offered this for a few models on Indian market, so I'm not sure if it applies internationally, although imo, it sounds like it. What a shame.

What a shame. Such a good cheap phone is out of my options now . I guess I have to bite it and buy OnePlus 9 now (OnePlus no longer a flagship killer ).

I think the same thing happens with the Realme 7 pro. You had to change the dialer to change to India. So if I could unlock it .. It would be nice if it could be done with the European realme gt

So, can you change the dialer with the EU version and the deep test app would work too?

I think that if the method that was used in the realme 7 pro could be applied. I have tried it but have not been successful. You would have to know the engineer codes to change region. I guess they must be different on each terminal.
Here you have the manual that I use in the relame 7 pro.

If someone could find how to change the region in the realme GT from engineer mode, I think it would be the solution to be able to unlock.
Here are some codes that I found in case they could be usable

On the realme 7 pro it works. It would be a matter of being able to test it in our realme. I can not find any engineer code that allows us

I have not found any solution. They also told me in the telegram group that for our European version there will be no possibility of unlocking. I will sell it

Buy a Oneplus 9R. It goes perfect with the qualcomm 870. I already have it unlocked and it has the recovery options that I want in case of disaster. It is a very good smart

I wondered if it was a problem with the Google dialer not accepting the codes. Did you try a different dialer esp the realme or oppo dialer?
People also say the fact that it's coming to India should be good news for bootloader unlocking.

Any tutorials out there or here that instructs on unlocking the bootloader for this phone? Again, I am looking for the international version's tut, not the CN version.

Have you tried using a VPN to route traffic through India, and unlocking the phone?
Can someone send me a build.prop file from the system partition?

I don't have the phone yet lol. I'm not gonna risk buying a phone, only to find out it's hopeless to root it.
Not tested:
https://www.getdroidtips.com/unlock-bootloader-realme-gt-5g/
Has anybody been able to unlock the bootloader on the global variant? I have to pick between the Realme GT and the Poco F3 and would prefer the first because of the headphone jack, but if it's not possible to unlock the bootloader the phone would be almost useless to me.
What about previous Realme phones, is it possible to unlock the bootloader for all of them or are there some models where this is not possible? If the company has a good track record then we could assume that some day it will be possible to unlock the bootloader of the GT too.
I keep reading about some deep testing app or in-depth test app needed to unlock the bootloader, does anybody know where it comes from and who the developer is? All I could find was downloads on random websites and the whole thing seems sketchy.
Not buying this phone given the sad state of unlocking and sources.
I'm just here to check how this phone is doing in development and seems like it's doing terrible.
