Hey guys,
I have recently switched from Oneplus 6 to Mate 20 Pro and the only feature I am missing so far is the lack of option to switch media output between devices (e.g.: from bluetooth headphones to speaker for example, without turning off bluetooth).
Is there any way this can be done? I have tried also with 3rd party apps such as Lesser AudioSwitch but I couldn't make it work...
Thanks!

Hello,
I've had Mate 2 for about 6 months. I've had 5 other android phones and feel pretty comfortable with rooting, flashing roms, recoveries and ADB.
When I first purchased the Mate 2 I tried the stock 5.1 EMUI on the Mate2, but I could stand the setup after using CM 12 and 13 on past devices. We use Mightytext for text messaging in our office and for some reason it did not like the stock EMUI messaging app and would not work with a 3rd party app like Textra.
When I tried CM 12 and 13, everything seems to work, particularly Mightytext, except if I'm listening to music or an audiobook with headphones (with and without an integrated Mic.) When someone calls with the headphones in and I remove them and then answer the call, I can't hear the other person and they cannot hear me, but the call definitely connects. If I'm in the car and connected via bluetooth and listening to music, it is not a problem.
Another issue for me is the external speaker does not work with an alarm if the head phones are plugged in. I use Alarm Clock Xtreme which has a setting to play to the speaker even if head phones are plugged in, but that does not work on the Mate 2 (with stock or custom roms.)
While normally not insurmountable, both these issues are enough to really frustrate me. Any ideas? I flashed back to EMUI 5.1 and the headphones and mic work fine so I don't think it is a hardware issue.
Thanks for any help!

While I don't have any answers or ideas, I think I have the same problem as you on the latest CM13.0 snapshot. No audio on calls when headphone jack (I have a small headphone jack button) plugged in. In CM12.1 it was working fine for me though and was possible to use an app called HF Button Widget to change the audio routing to the phone's speaker (while keeping button plugged into headphone jack). Maybe the phone acts like it is hitting mute or silences the audio when the jack is plugged or unplugged? I've had to remove my button and keep my headphone jack empty as a workaround until this is solved or a newer version solves it. Also another workaround might be bluetooth headphones I haven't tried that yet.
Hi guys,
I noticed that don't matter what audio out you are using(Audio Jack, Bluetooth Headsets) the notifications always come out both on the mobile speaker and the audio out.
I believe that is not as intended, as when you are on Bluetooth headsets, you wanna hear notifications on the headsets, not on the Speaker, especially if you have something like Text to Speak or read notifications setup.
The only way around this that i found is to set the phone on silent when you put the headsets in, but it's not very intuitive.
Has anyone run into this problem? has anyone found a fix?
Kind regards,
Daniel
Hi Daniel,
I have the same "issue". A search on the internet showed that this is no a special issue of the V10 but one of many phones. Seems to be a general issue with Android.
You can use the app "SoundAbout" from the PlayStore to solve this issue. A free version is available but to use all features you'll have to buy the pro version.
in the setup of the app you need to change the options for "Alert behavior". I set "Wired Headset behavior" and "Bluetooth (A2DP) behavior" to "Headset only (override)" and "A2DP only (override)" respectively. That worked for me. The speaker is now silent and notifications are played only via headset. The Bluetooth options are only available in the pro version, the wired headset can be changed in the free version.
but I agree that this is an issue which should be fixed by Google.
After having lots of phones connecting to my carsystem JVC KD-R801, having zero problems, all of a sudden a completely strange problem popped up since I'm using the Honor 9.
Connection the phone to the carsystem is no problem, using it as audio source for navigation and having/receiving calls works flawlessly.
BUT: streaming audio from ANY audio app (Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Hearthis.it, Audible, Tunein, PowerAMP) shows a continues flashing screen. The carstereo it's buttons are almost impossible to use during that time.
Audio workss fine though! But it looks like the Honor 9 battery drains way faster than using eg. bluetooth headphones.
Testing different apps and settings doesn't solve anything.
As I've never had this problem with other devices (Sony Z5 Compact, Huawei P8-lite, HTC M7, Iphone 5, Honor 7) I personally can only conclude 2 possible reasons:
- Honor 9 has -yet- unknown bluetooth problems
- My car stereo supporting bluetooth options are to limited for Bluetooth 4.2 devices
Any suggestions how I could solve this problem (besides the obvious; investing in a new car stereo) ?
Have a similar problem. When i play with proplayer-app + bluetooth and display is switched off then after 30 secs. or so. bluetooth stops working.
Seems that bluetooth is disabled after a while when display is off.
Hey guys,
I just updated my Redmi Note 4 Global from Android 7 to Android Pie (ArrowOS) and have the following issue:
Before, when I connected my bluetooth headset, I was able to receive all sounds (notifications/ringtones) through my headset using SoundAbout. (It switched to "normal" sound mode when BT headset was connected but bypasses all sounds to my headset only)
So no sounds went through phones speaker. And thats what I wanna have, when bluethooth headset is connected, all sounds should only be hearable through it.
Now, soundAbout doesn't work anymore (crashes on start - other ppl reporting same on Android 8)
Therefore, does anyone of you know a proper alternative app or work-a-round to solve my issue?
Many many thanks!
Hello,
For a past week I have been trying to force audio only through one bluetooth device while dual audio selected. My goal is to add delay between two speakers, but I haven't been able to force an audio through one speaker. Another approach I tried, was to disable dual audio and just trying to use MediaPlayer.setPreferredDevice(), but if you create more than one instance of it with different speakers, the audio only plays on the first speaker. I have been wondering - is it possible or am I just waisting my time?
I am using galaxy s8 android 9.0 for testing
