Hi all,
If you're looking to claim as much screen real estate as possible, ie 'Full immersive' mode, 'One Ui' makes it that bit easier.
For 'Navigation bar':
Settings - Display - Navigation Bar
Turn on 'Full screen gestures', then turn off 'Gesture hints'.
For 'Status Bar'
Connect to PC and run this 'ADB' command.
.\adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.status=*
To reverse it.
.\adb shell settings put global policy_control null*

I want to detect the case status (open/close).
In the case without window I could use detection screen status (on/off) like this:
Code:
adb shell dumpsys power | grep mScreenOn
In the case with the window (eg. LG Circle Case) after closing the case I can't use the detection screen status (case closed but the screen may be ON).
I want to detect only case status (using a magnet sensor in the corner of the case and screen)
I recently installed Fluid Navigation Gestures. I loved it till I noticed that the default navigation bar is displayed in certain instances i.e. while in system settings, using keyboard etc. I tried to disable it from the app itself but nothing changes. I also tried to disable the Hide Navigation Bar option. No luck. I noticed that once I disabled the default navigation doesn't return and the gestures stop working. I haven't tried uninstalling the app not until I have re-enabled the default navigation bar (there's also a warning in the app that's along these lines).
If there's a way I can manually change the setting that hides the navigation bar. I could bring it back and then completely uninstall the app. I read somewhere that there's a magisk module that hides the navigation bar. Sadly, I cannot find that from the magisk repo.
I have an H930DS running 20p Oreo and Nova Launcher. TWRP and root. If this helps.

I found a way to disable it safely. I used the Quick tiles shortcut for FNG to pause/disable it. In the app itself I disabled the hide navigation bar option then uninstalled it after clear its data and cache. You should also revoke the permissions (draw over apps). That's it!

try to to disable fng via accessibility setting. did you grant permission via adb or root?
You can restore the navigation keys by running this adb command:
Windows:
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0
macOS:
./adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0
Thereafter uninstall the app normally.
Your also advised to disable the app before you Force stop, Clear app data or Uninstall the app.
You want to hide the nav bar in all and all? Turn off all pauses under black list (in ng fluid app) and you would have no nav bar displayed anywhere.
Don't forget to modify triggers to how you want first
I love this app, this is a great gesture app I've ever used. But one problem I found I not able to restore auto-hidden nav bar in my Asus Max Pro M1 even I disable "Hide Navigation bar" option from App. I also tried it by disable app/clear app data/uninstalling app. But still I'm not able to get my auto-hidden nav bar again. Always it automatically auto hide, I have to swip up from bottom to bring it and after few seconds it automatically hide from screen.
I also tried following command.
Windows:
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0.
Please help
How to disable fluid navigation gesture
You have to install ADB setup on pc or laptop and then open ADB.
On phone download navigation gesture provided by xda and follow all grant permissions app requires.
Then you have to open developer options of your phone.
Enable usb debugging.
Connect your phone to pc.
And write this command.
Adb devices( your phone will be shown on command after you type this command)
Then write one more command.
(adb shell pm grant com.xda.nobar android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS)
After all this process open navigation gesture and disable the option showing " hide navigation ".
All done and free yourself.
Hi there,
It seems Mi A3 has no real full screen mode except playing video.
I tried "adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.status=*" or "~.full=*", there'd be a black bar on top as the same area of the status bar. When using 'full screen mode' in some browsers, it behaves the same.
Is there any method to utilize this area other than status bar and video?
Thanks.
The notch area usage depends probably on the app. For example F-stop doesn't use notch area even in full screen, Google photos yes.

Thanks, but i wish there'd be a system-wide solution. I used to use adb immersive control on my previous Nokia phone and it worked well everywhere. That's without notch, though.

Immersive mode still works and you can control it system-wide or per app, but drawing over notch area must be defined by an app developers. Otherwise you'll see the black bar as you described.
Hi,
I found the immersive mode disappeared by itself recently -- the status bar came back.
I tried giving it adb command again and it looked fine at that moment. Then the status bar came right back after locking/unlocking the screen.
What's going on? Is there any other adb command affecting this?
Thanks.
If you have magisk there is a module but it isn't in the official repository.

Thanks, but I don't want to root my phone just yet.
BTW, I've used this command to grant permission to Fluid Navigation Gesture:
adb shell pm grant com.fb.fluid android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Would it interact with the immersive mode by that app?
I've used both FNG and immersive mode in another phone and it's OK with both of them, but it's in Android 9.

I'm working with NotchKiller and FNG without issues.
This is killing me, and given the original thread is labeled "Lollipop", I thought i would start a more relevant thread subject so people can find it. The problem is in the new Samsung UI 2.1 update re-enables pop-up notifications, and the old method below doesn't "fix them" like it has since Lollipop. Here is the link with details to the original thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/howto-4-to-disable-heads-notifications-t3197660
My hopes are that someone knows how to disable these in UI 2.1. They just kill me when I am trying to type messages and a window keeps popping up over my work with incoming messages. Stupid and so GD iOS'ish it's ridiculous!! The answer before UI 2.1 was the simple command "adb shell settings put global heads_up_notifications_enabled 0" which Samsung must have changed the control variable. I am really hoping someone technical can tell us the new way to disable these annoying pop-ups again which we've been able to do so since Galaxy S5!
I've been asked by a lot of friends on how to disable those notifications which pop up on the top of your phone's screen. They are mistakenly called "pop-up notifications", but their real name is Heads-Up notifications and can be really useful, but sometimes they are extremely annoying. Specially if you need to use a button or something that is located on the top of the screen right when the notification appears. Some ROMs do allow to turn them off in the Settings, but most of them don't.
So in this thread (which is my first here on XDA) I'm gonna put all the info I gathered during my research about disabling the Heads-Up notifications. These methods will COMPLETELY disable them for all applications while MAINTAINING regular notifications in the status bar. All of these methods are free. Some require a rooted device and some don't.
1- ADB method (using your computer) [FREE]
Before trying this method, make sure you have installed Android ADB in your computer, that your phone is connected AND that you have "USB debugging" option enabled in the phone Settings.
If you don't have Android ADB, you can download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=48915118. If you have any questions concerning ADB and how to use it, take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2225405
a) Open a terminal and check if the device is connected using the following command:
Code:
adb devices
b) You should see your phone on the list that appears. Now use the following command:
Code:
adb shell settings put global heads_up_notifications_enabled 0
c) Reboot your phone.
d) Done!

It looks like this is now available in the app and the adb hack isn't needed any longer. It would still be nice to apply a global default with this hack rather than changing each app individually. It's there, under "Message notifications" and is called "Show as Pop-up".

Yeah! There's the option to change it.
For example on the Samsung Message app:
Go to notification settings, tap in "General Notifications" (tap on the letters, don´t tap the toggle switch) and then you would find the option "Show as pop-up".
You have to do it individually for each app, in FB messenger and Whatsapp is a little different, but you would find "show as pop-up" by tapping in the letters in each option in the notification settings.
Hope this help!
This option to change it manually for individual app has been there since Android 9 in Samsung. But that's a pain! Every time you install a new app you have to disable it. The option to completely disable heads up notification would be nice for the One UI 2.1
I cant find data connection taggale in notification on my Samsung Galaxy A526U 5G .I can't add also.
Settings > Connections > Data usage > Mobile data (turn off/on)
If you want it on your notification screen then swipe from top > Three dots on top right > Edit buttons > find Mobile data and hold and drag onto your notification screen.
Sending the ADB Command to Enable Mobile Data Toggle
Once you’ve confirmed ADB is working, it’s time to run the command. First, enter the following command to enter ADB shell:
adb shell
Your terminal/command prompt should now show that you are within the shell environment of your device. Once you’re in, enter this next command:
settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles
This will output a comma separated list of names that represent your current Quick Settings tiles. Copy this list down (save it in your clipboard, to a text file, whatever.) If you do not save this list, all of your existing Quick Settings tiles will disappear in the next command. Next, enter the following command:
settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "YOUROLDLIST,MobileData,Hotspot"
Where YOUROLDLIST represents the comma separated list of Quick Setting tiles that you saved just before and MobileData is the name of the Mobile Data Toggle, appended to the end of the original tiles list. Hotspot is the name of the Mobile Hotspot tile. Note the comma between the old list and the two additions, MobileData and Hotspot, and also note the use of quotation marks. Basically, all we’re doing is appending the name of the Mobile Data and Hotspot toggle to the end of our original tile list.
Once you enter this command, you should immediately see the Mobile Data and Hotspot toggle show up at the end of your Quick Settings tiles. You can then re-arrange it as you please so it will appear on the first page. This toggle will persist through reboots, but won’t survive a factory reset.
