Mirrored Display
hello XDA community,
I have here an imate Jasjar which after a screen upgrade is displaying the image reversed. It did not begin like this,
Upon first booting up the device after screen upgrade, all was fine, screen displayed normally. About a week after this, the screen began flickering, not on/off, but instead, reversing the image shown on the screen. (a mirror) effect. I did not know what to make of this. I delt with it best I could.
A day or two after this flickering began, the screen began to remain in this reversed image mode, which I did not enjoy. The same day, I had dropped the JJ into a tub ( a pretty hard fall), but somehow, by the grace of god, the water failed to enter the inside of the Jasjar.
After the fall, I had noticed that the screen had stopped its flickring antics and remained normal for about a week and a half. It is now displaying a reversed image only.
I now am unsure of what to do, I searched throughout the XDA forums and discovered that performing a hard reset should repair this.
I suppose my main question is, is there a registry tweak I can perform to revert the displayed image back to its original state
Many thanks to all who respond.

as far as I know, both of your devices are probably dead. Back in the time I was repairing old Ipaq's the mirrow effect was epically called "The mirrow of death" and meant that the display controller (a chip) has failed.
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you have many chances to bring them back. Maybe this is not your case, but anyway chances are slim.
thats actually a very interesting idea. If you can mirror them via software, you can fool the device into working again
solution ?
Any solution to this yet ?
Is anyone working on that brilliant idea of that mirroring software ?
I've been having the same problem for almost 6 months now. But for some reasons I am surviving with my O2 XDA EXEC. Now, I can hand my brick to friends without being concerned about my personal messages being read.
However, I have found something. When I charge my phone with a motorola charger, while on charger, the screen flips back to normal. So, my best bet- it is actually a tweeny weenie IC not doing what it is supposed to do.
mirror solution!
Tape the phone to your car's dash and use it as a H.U.D.!!!
hey.... maybe I am on to something here mmmm.....

Does anyone know how to make the PDA do this, I've searched everywhere for a software solution but to no avail.
I want to add a second screen to my PDA (piggybacking on the existing screen) but with an inverted display. This way I will have a normal touchscreen display for entering data and an inverted display for HUD use.
I'm aware that when this happens as a fault it is normally due to a loose display connection causing one of the outer contact to come loose, but I'd need to know which 'wire to cut' to force this fault.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey guys,
My screen woes just won't go away. I dropped my phone a few weeks back and cracked the screen. Ordered a new one from eBay (Item number: 260818538062) with the faceplate and everything. Had it installed but then started noticing that SWYPE wasn't working as well because my words would start breaking midway. Installed Yet Another Multi Touch Test and when trying to paint realized that there is a very evident line on my screen that isn't working as well. That was one continuous movement of slow up and down jestures but as you can see, the touch sensitivity is much weaker as well as the screen sensing a second touch at some point.
What can I do? I will gladly take the thing apart and clean the connectors.. if that will help. But somehow am inclined to believe that the issue lies with the screen. Is there a software recalibration fix that exists perhaps? Anyone experienced the same thing and walked away with a working solution?
Please help and thank you in advance.
(EDIT) I've added a second attachment where I started going around the outer edges working my way in, there's definitely one faulty line in my screen!
(EDIT2) Found a native Android touchscreen test (white and green) thanks to a member named BryanNL in a different post. Basically had to dial *#0*# and chose it from a menu. This test claimed that I passed but you can see that it is not made to tackle an issue like mine.
Bumping.. Anyone please.
Hello! So my Xperia Mini pro has been broken, it doesn't show any image anymore, I think there is a problem with the screen but I want a confirmation or recommendation to find out what the problem is.
First the screen "touch" capability stopped working, and then two weeks after that, the back and option buttons stopped working too. And a week after that ,there was like a screen "flickering" (I tried to recreate the problem in the attached image) when I tried to either open or close the slider.
Finally the screen stopped working anymore. I tried to connect the phone to the PC but says that windows cannot recognize the hardware. And there's one more thing: I can turn on the phone, it vibrates, but the keyboard lights seems that are not working, they are permanently off.. and when I try to Increase the volume it doesn't sound either... There is only the black screen and a backlight.
Please Help me to find out what is the problem, I'm thinking to buy a screen replacement on eBay, but some people told me that is the "flex" cable. I'm not sure if there is a fix for my phone's problem.
Thanks!
Hey there.
Based on my experience, yes, your problem is most likey a flex ribbon issue. Your flex has been ripping apart lately, causing many of its wires to break. This can cause a lot of unpredictable problems, such as a misbeheaving notification LED, inactive ambient light sensor, or "dead" display/touch digitizer. Your problems have gotten worse over time, which is clearly a symptom of a broken flex.
You phone is no longer booting up to android because the kernel no longer detects a proper "response" from the display driver and halts the bootup. This is why you can feel the phone vibrating when pressing the power button, but nothing else happens. Your screen assembly is fine, I can assure you that, unless your glass is broken, of course.
Here's one hell of a good teardown guide: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Sony+Ericsson+Xperia+Mini+Pro+SK17i+Teardown/7275
I used that very same guide when I repaired my own xmp. I regret messing with my screen assembly because I destroyed it and had to buy a new one, which is costly
Thank You so much for the advice ! Now I'll try to repair it, It doesn't seem too difficult. Thank You Again!!!
This is my second Cricket smartphone in 6 months and both have developed the same issue:
The screen glows with no visible image rather than displaying anything. The touchscreen still works while this is going on as I can answer phone calls. I found that by inserting the usb plug, with some light jiggling, the screen will sometimes briefly appear. To begin troubleshooting, I opened the phone and re-soldered the usb contacts. This was of no noticeable affect. I believe the problem lies with the ribbon that is seated right beside the usb port and seems to run under the screen. Can anyone tell me what the proper name of this is, whether it can be replaced, where to find a replacement, or give any suggestions as to a quick fix?
Hi,
I've had my Xperia ZU for 2 years now. I had broken the original LCD a few years ago so I bought 2 replacements deemed genuine. Both these were fakes, no doubt but I used them anyway. After my 2nd Fake stopped working, I opted to buy a genuine one which was with the shell attached to it.
I received it, and it looked genuine but after installing the motherboard in, I've had some issues. One issue is that when pressing the power button to use the phone, lines appear across the screen for a second and then the unlock screen appears, this problem happens when booting and unlocking the phone or whenever the LCD is turned off for more than 5 seconds. My second issue is that there is color inconsistencies on the LCD. The color of the notification drop down changes from dark blue to a lighter color if I clear notifications. It does the same behavior in anything that has color changes.
A video describing the fault is here: youtu.be / riJ9GShHNOI
However, these issues also happened on my fake screen before but I ignored them since it was a fake screen.
I am wondering if the screen is faulty or is it my actual Motherboard that is faulty? Thanks in advance
