Hi,
This morning I applied the pie/9.0 update to my S9+. One problem I saw at once: the mobile hotspot feature, that is the source of my internet, is no longer working at 5 GHz as it used to prior to the update.
The 5 GHz option has disappeared from the Settings menu altogether::

I called support, all they could say was to backup the phone with Smart Switch, perform a reset and see how it goes. But this doesn't look like a configuration issue.
Do you guys have a 5 GHz option in your Mobile Hotspot menu? Before I go about resetting the phone, and research how to rollback my S9+ to 8.0 (no such option in Smart Switch), I'd like to make sure.
Thanks.
Nope I see the same thing you do... Which is kinda weird, but hopefully once the official release is made (still on the last official beta, waiting for the update from Samsung) they will have taken care of that

Hold on, it's not an official release? I never subscribed to any beta, casually checked the availability of an update in Settings, and it proposed me to update my phone to the latest and bestest.
I see no mention of a beta here.
I guess they didn't take care of that .

Guess they didn't, or the toggle for use 5ghz when available is what they use now for the option?
But the beta testing was mentioned quite a bit here. There was even a thread that had leaked builds of the One UI beta in the Samsung Galaxy S9+ Guides, News, & Discussion forum here.
No I don't have an official release yet. As part of the Samsung One UI Beta testers I haven't gotten the official release yet. We are still on the last beta build they released (Beta 4 if I remember correctly, phone is in other room charging before I go to work).
I'm on stable pie and these are the settings
Samsung support on their forums advised me to explain all that in their Samsung Members app, so that it would allegedly reahc the developers. Besides an automated ack mail I got no answer, which is not totally unexpected. I fixed it by myself. In case it helps someone else, here is how.
I downloaded the exact same firmware that was installed after the OTA update, 9.0, G965FXXU2CRLI_G965FOXM2CRLI_XEF, from sammobile. I flashed it and it reinitialised something and the 5GHz option is back. I have now the exact same version of the firmware that I had after the update and before flashing, and didn't even need to reinstall any app or reconfigure anything after using the "HOME_*.*" file to flash. So all's well.

Hi there,
I've recently switched to the CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies because I'm looking for a more native Android experience on my i9300. The ROM has been excellent and stable so far, but I have one issue.
I have AutoGuard BlackBox set up on my phone, so my trips are recorded in the car. It really is an excellent app, it's automated and even puts SRT files in with the files on YouTube.
On previous ROMs, the application worked flawlessly with no issues at all. Unfortunately, with the CM 10.1 nightlies, the video quality seems to be way off using the automatic quality settings. Trying anything in 480p or above seems to break the camera completely, with me having to restart the phone.
The quality used to look a bit like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyyr86akgQA
and now it's like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KT0mAsiDYME
I've tried other apps, like DailyRoads Voyager and that seems to have the same issue. The developer of AutoGuard has told me that the ROM is to blame for the issues as it doesn't handle custom recording settings very well, so I'm a little lost as to what to do.
Has anyone else had this issue before on a native ROM? I can't post a bug because the i9300 is only nightlies and I can't face going back to a Samsung-based ROM again.
======
EDIT: I have been watching the recording setup process on AutoGuard and managed to get this log from my phone. The key line appears to be:
Code:
06-04 13:30:35.525: A/OMXCodec(1913): frameworks/av/media/libstagefright/OMXCodec.cpp:1171 CHECK(ret > 1) failed.
It looks as if the codec isn't loading correctly.
The full is here
http://pastebin.com/PJa5kxGC
Any ideas?
MrNorm
ive been having issues with autoguard and the cm10.1 nightlies as well. It worked fine up until RC1 (was previously running 3/23, i believe) and now my phone slows to a crawl every time it's recording. I also asked the dev and he said the same thing to me. I would really love for this to be fixed before the stable release comes out.
I'm glad it's not just me then!
Hovan (AutoGuard developer) provided this response when I asked if he could provide any technical information on what could be causing it:
I don't know the mechanism.
But the problem is this.
- Custom recording settings such as resolutions, recording bit rates, framerates should be handled properly
- The rom should be a good communication channel between camera module and 3rd party apps.
Thanks.

I'm not really sure how to let people at CM know about the issue, as we can't post issues on nightlies to the team. I'm surprised the S3 hasn't even made it to an 'M' release to be honest. It's a very stable ROM (on my phone, at least). It's just this one issue I can't seem to get on with.

I'm afraid that's incorrect. This is an international Galaxy S3 (i9300) forum. RC4 is available for non-international versions only at this point. The i9300 hasn't even had RC1 yet.

You can't post battery stats with less than a day use of rom, have some respect for the Developer, the Rom is not fully stable yet and a lot of kinks need to be worked out, if you want a stable rom, go for a nougat rom, if you want to Oreo, be happy with what you are getting at this stage and stop whining
Thanks to Frankie for this excellent work!
Everything works very good - GBoard as well.
I only have one question: I want to decompile the SystemUI.apk to translate the settings (String) to german.
apktool.jar (2.2.4) doesn't work - smali folder won't extract so recompiling doesn't work as well.
Does someone know how to decompile/recompile the system apps from this ROM?
Thanks in advance!

I'm not posting about overall battery life. It's a kernel wakelock problem, it's not going to go away on its own. It's a bug that the dev may or may not know about. He wouldn't have made a thread if he didn't want bug reports. So quit YOUR whining

If I need to provide more info, please share.. I am on Verizon latest radio and bootloader, latest TWRP. Flashed ROM, BusyBox, and Magisk.
EDIT: I understand the ROM is new and appreciate the hard work if the developer. Helping out best I can.

It's all about context and tone. Some "bug reports" come across as entitled whining, or outright complaints with no respect for the developer or the work that's been invested.
For anyone looking for busybox, this is a direct link on XDA. https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4252596&d=1503713259 It covers Busybox version 1.2.7 and is Magisk 14 compatible.
Here's what should be done for all you noobs. If there is a bug and u want to report it, attach a logcat. Otherwise how will they see the error being replicated?
I will capture a logcat of the 5 GHz wifi when I get home.
i was able to solve the BT battery problem by disabling instant tethering under settings ->google->instant tenthering

Does Android Pay work? I remember NFC not working alongside Bluetooth and now that Bluetooth is fixed, can someone confirm NFC/Android Pay function as well now?
I've just got a notification that a new official international firmware for my Pace is available: 2.8.05. It downloaded OK (with some glitches, but luckily downloader resumes after a "fail", does not start from scratch every time) and has just been installed on my watch.
I am curious what is really new and what just a bug fix. The high version number of firmware might mean major upgrade.
The upgrade adds additional languages, but requires new pairing, that is "scan the QR code" procedure. I wonder if this is really necessary?
Obviously, this pairing procedure wiped my custom watch faces, but retained music and gpx files.
Otherwise, firmware looks stable after a couple of minutes of usage and checking.
New "apps":
Disconnect Alert
Standup Alert (on/off)
New activities:
Tennis
Soccer
Run indoor
Thanks! I am waiting for the Update. No Updates available yet. Which Model do you use? A1612? Which was your Last Firmware before the Update? And Last but not least, where do you come from?
Well the change log was really full of things. It was the biggest I have seen since I bought the watch last August. Besides the things you mentioned it told about new heart rate models and optimization, multiple optimizations of the user interface for speed, battery, etc. new official face watches, new menu with activity history and a couple of other things that I cannot remember right now.
...that notification get me this days. But download ends with error. My Pace ist on 1.3.6 d (Germany)

My last firmware was 1.3.6 (international) and the model is A1612. My current location is Poland.
One more observation - this update wiped my side-loaded apps (while previous ones didn't).
1.3.8a here too.
but, I will update the watch later.

i guess its normal if the new version comes with a newer "os"
it's a full system OTA, it will wipe your watch
I am wondering why no update notification on my pace. Is it because of bootloader unlock?
its a 10% deploy only, not everybody will get it now, it will be randomly deployed only to 10 percent of all pace users.

Is this what I requested them to do ? Could this be?
I found it most useful on my former Alcatel WatchGo , it's for when you forget your phone and bluetooth disconnects, it said "Don't forget your phone!"
Literally saved me from leaving phone on car hood in the middle of crowded area! (I was carrying stuff, and yeah I know I'm a moron)
Is this - that ?

Then, you may like one of PaceOn app's features. Bluetooth disconnection alert has been available for a long while and can run on any rom version. It doesn't even need any app running on your phone.
After some using I this update as it seems most things are better (even battery, but not sure), but there are some things that got worst. First the sports menu is sluggish compared to all other menus. Secondly I cannot find the menu where it states for how long my watch has gone without charging, etc. It was nice info.

My system call settings are:
Calling accounts.

Fixed dialing numbers.
Call Forwarding.
Additional settings.
That's it. Am I in the right place (system call settings)?
Also, I am a beta tester, but because I'm not in the US (I'm UK) it doesn't work. I'm hoping it rolls out soon.
More to it....
My Wife and I both have Pixel 2 XL phones. She is not a beta tester, I am. We both have the November update. She has the call screening feature, I do not. I have called Pixel support (Google) and they have nothing. The best answer I have so far that makes sense is it's a server issue and the feature is being rolled out in blocks. I did revert my phone to mirror hers and even did a factory reset. Still no call screening.

I live in Indonesia, and have the latest phone app (beta) + play services (beta) + google app (beta). I have a Google Fi account (from my prev. US trip) and tried changing it to Google Fi activated the call screen feature. When I switched back to my local operator, it disappears. I think it's based on your SIM card identification.

The only other way I've seen to get it is enabling it through root, which isn't an option for me yet.
Mine did decide to show up, I'm not sure how it just showed up without another update, so maybe it just takes time to get enabled. Or like the previous post, maybe its sim based, in that case someone should probably try taking their sim out and restarting. Might be worth a try, at least.

I was SUPER jealous when I saw this feature announced for the Pixel 3. Later in the article when I learned about the execution of the feature I quickly started to cringe. I was certain that the first time someone screened my call I'd be pissed. I was.
Then I got the feature on my Pixel 2 XL. It's like the backlash to the appointment booking assistant of the future and immediate capitulation by Android to announce the AI presence at the beginning of the call. In my opinion this is a knee jerk reaction that I'm sure trickled down to call screening. I really hope that we're not staring down another Glasshole scenario.
I don't remember anyone losing their mind when we didn't know if someone else was listening to their answering machine. My Dad just recently stopped talking to my voicemail like I could hear him in real time.
Iam from Indo too, just edit the xml and it'll work, i just can't get the transcript feature work

Anyone from our friends in India who can capture the link of the beta update for S906E? Thanks guys!
Why is so hard to get a link of Indian version?
I don't really know. Maybe there are less people who got s22+. Rn we only have s906B. Hopefully someone with s906E will get the link and share it with us.
I just bought S22 plus. And yes not too many buy Samsung flagships here bcoz of atrocious pricing. People just go for iPhones, which is ironic since iPhones are even over priced.
I'm on OneUI 5.0 beta.
What can I do?

Guide me. I joined beta via samsung members app.
Here try this.
How to capture the update.zip file to share with other people:

2. Open HTTP Canary app
3. Start the update by pressing "download" and don't pause it

And This capturing process is tedious. I'm not even sure If I've set it up correctly and it seems like only one shot at capturing.
In the above image it still says ca certf not installed in blue heading.

I honestly don't know if that will work. Since we lack people who uses s22+, we can't test it. About the certificate, it can be installed from settings. I'm trying to replicate it myself.
