auto rotation - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Is it possible using app like setting datebase editor to change setting to allow full 360 rotation on a non rooted/bootloader locked phone?
I'm currently using auto rotation app which can and is working fine, but I hate the fact it shows in notifications, (if you don't keep notifications system kills the app and won't fully rotate).
I have had a look at setting datedase editor but can't see anything directly but I as I'm not that tech knowledgeable I could be missing something in the app.
I have used this app to disable touch mode(when top sensor is coved by hand/case)
Any advice help much appreciated.
Thanks.

Could you give me a little more details.
I have it set to rotate but it doesn't rotate complete 360° unless I use rotation app.

Sorry I surely misunderstanding you.
On my side rotation didn't works on home screen but on app yes.
In fact I didn't test 360. It's more 90 then for me.
And home rotation works for samsung.
I did notice that if app is rotated in landscape and I'm going to home I can see that home is correctly rotated for less than one sec so it can works but Huawei is bugged or it's intentional.
On my mate 10 pro it was worked on first earlier firmware and was broken quickly after.
On mate 20 pro it's never worked.
On Nova launcher for ex it's works.
Tapatalk

I also see the correctly rotated screen for a second!

Full screen rotation?

Has anybody looked at this? Some apps rotate the tablet so that you have to hold skinny side in portrait, which sucks. Would be nice to be able to rotate and hold fat side.
Hoping for that too.
hi
few days ago, i discovered "Ultimate Rotation Control"
There is a 7days (or longer Trial) at google play. I'm not allowed to post Links, so u have to search it by ur self, sure isnt a big deal.
Set it to Force Rotation, and Apps (inclusive market previews) will rotate like u want!
greets nuts
it also is a setting in 4.0 if im correct, could be a cm9 feature
yup
For some reason Sony limited the tablet to three axis'.
However with a orientation app you can use all four.
All of the orientation apps that I have tried reduce the performance of the tablet. Just try one, force an orientation, and try scrolling the homescreen. You'll see how slow it is.
Hmm, with Ultimate Rotation Control, i have no slow downs - its working like ever, only thing is, Apps starting in the right rotation, not upside down .
Until now i'm using the testversion, and its says 18days till end - not 7 as u get told in market. Hoping for ICS, too

could u tell me an App what do all 4Axis by auto rotation?

URC works very well for me, but slows my launcher too, what a pity...
Search Set Orientation by Eyes-Free Project on Google Play, is simple and works nice.

NOT! Playing With The Proximity

I'm Using My Xperia S Quite A Long, This Is My First Android Phone So Far!:cyclops:
Now Straight Coming To The Problem:silly:
In Market, There Seems To Be So Many Cool Apps Dealing With The Proximity Sensor Like:
1>Proximity Screen Off
2>Wave Control
etc
Well It Seems There Is No Problem Installing It, Or Crash (or force Close)
BUT
On These Application Gesture Function Nothing Seems To Work EXCEPT The 'COVER & HOLD' Mode
[e.g: say I Set 'Swipe Once' To Turn Off The Screen And 'Swipe Once' To Turn On The Screen...NO NOTHING WORKS!:crying:
Now Put 'Cover & Hold' To Both Turn On And Off The Screen Just As Before (in different gesture)...Works Like A Charm:laugh:]
Same Case Happens In Wave Control ('Default Pause Or Play' On 'Cover & Hold' Works, But 'Next Song' On 'Swipe Once' Doesn't Work:crying:
I've Even Uploaded A Video (SORRY FOR LOW QUALITY with Nokia X6 :silly Showing The Problem In 'Proximity Screen Off' App
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CVFaV2QeIk
If Anyone Is Having The Same Problem Please Post It Down And Of Course The Solutions Are MOST WELCOME
AnYoNe!!??
Proximity Screen Off didn't work too well with my Xperia S...it had a problem with immediately switching the screen right back on after it triggered a screen off. I'm using Smart Screen Off myself, which I think is the best one of these sensor on/off apps I've seen yet. It has a lot of options and seems to have a better calibration for your proximity sensor and gyroscope. Not only can you trigger your screen on and off with the proximity sensor, but you can also shake the phone to turn the screen on/off, and flip it over to turn the screen off. I'm using a hand wave to turn the screen on, combined with a screen off widget and the flip over motion for turning the screen off, and it works great.
I do wish somebody could make an app like PGM Nexus for Xperias, that is an amazing app that's sadly for the Galaxy Nexus only. You can turn on your screen by just swiping left to right on the screen, or double tapping on it with that app. Swiping right to left at the screen bottom turns the screen back off.

Yes i know this bug.
It's just because the proximity sensor is to slow.
And don't worry, it's a software bug.
To fix it, go to system/etc/hw.conf
You will see 'proximity sensor configuration"

Razr XT910 accelerometer issue

Greetings,
Today my Razr XT910 is showing a weird behavior. The screen is not rotating. The option to auto rotate is enabled, but the phone does not rotate.
Tried a Bubble app and it is not marking any movement.
I installed AndoSensor to check everything and the app reports the accelerometer flawlessly. The screen even ROTATES inside the app! When I close the app, even with the device in landscape and the screen perfectly rotated, the phone goes back to portrait mode and nothing else detects the movement.
It´s a brand new phone (got it last tuesday) Im using ICS stock, rooted.
Any ideas?

Is it just mine or does the camera always open in landscape?

It couldn't be more obvious that I'm holding my phone in portrait mode, but damned if the camera doesn't always open in landscape . It's not a huge deal, I suppose, but it's sort of annoying to have to tilt the phone to the side and then back upright anytime I want to take a quick portrait pic.
Is this typical behavior for the One?
I can take screenshots if I'm not describing the issue clearly.

Scratch that. It always opens in landscape, but upon touching any button, the interface switches to portrait.
I don't know how I didn't notice this before. Guess I never thought to try it. Sorry folks!

That's not a default action. Do you have auto rotate off or something? My camera opens according to how I hold my phone.

No, I have auto rotate on and just calibrated the gyroscope last night. Same thing happens.

Rotate your phone in camera, the only things that rotate should be the camera buttons, 3 dot buttons, and zoe button. Let me know if those buttons rotate.

Mine does this too. Note that it's not the whole orientation that opens in landscape (images in the viewfinder are not flipped 90 degrees), it's just the icons that launch in landscape. Simply touching one of them, or rotating to landscape and back to portrait, will put them in the right orientation. I had this same issue when I ported Sense 4.1 to the Vivid, and I was able to find where the icons were being called to Landscape orientation on launch and changed it to SCREEN_ROTATION (thought looking at where the Sense 4.1 workaround was, I don't see the same in the Sense 5 camera's smali). Go figure when I got my One it did the same thing, so I went ahead and assumed it was by design :/ It's only aesthetically annoying though...taking a picture will still come out in the correct orientation

HTC probably intended them to be that way. You shouldn't have to touch them to have them rotate. Here's some screenshots of my camera.

Here's what we're saying..notice the icons. First one is when the camera initially opens in portrait, second is aft hitting a button while still in portrait, third is landscape

Ok I see, try resetting defaults in the app or try deleting data for the camera under settings in app section and see if it corrects your issue. Again mine rotates automaticlly.

yea no dice. Like I said it's only aesthetically displeasing, I'll see if I can find the initial orientation calls and change them..
Glad to know it's not just me at least. If I find a fix anywhere I'll update my first post in case, somewhere along the line, someone else stumbles upon this thread.

Power off screen with fingerprint sensor without triggering pin-unlock to wake?

I set up Fingerprint Quick Actions app on my old Axon 7 so that when I pressed the fingerprint reader, it shut off the screen. Now, when I try to set up the same system on the S9+, I can set the screen to turn off, but when using the fingerprint reader to wake the phone up afterwards, I am forced to do a pin-unlock instead of biometric.
Does anyone know a fix or is this not something that can be done anymore in Oreo?
Same problem here...all third party lock screen app is not supported in this sense.

it wont work as said by OP, both widget type and double tap screen lock/off will make fingerprint unusable since it will ask for a pin. really wanted this too, hope we can find a solution.

Actually, Nova DOES work, because it doesn't actually lock the screen. It resets the screen timeout to a very short value, turns the screen off, and then resets both after the device locks on it's own (or you take some action). I use it all the time, but it only works from a Nova home screen, not from anywhere else.

For a similar outcome I am using the 'screenoff' app and it's working for me (Snapdragon SM-G965U1 running Pie)
Because I haven't done enough posts I can't post the link but search for github and jsalatas and ScreenOff and you'll find it
Powers off screen with app button instead of fingerprint sensor and then allows fingerprint opening.
