Yes it can, and also the way you didn't like it's your choice!
In Face Recognition settings select the option for Direct Unlock.
Any option to add 2 faces instead of just 1?
You get the option for an "alternate look" (possibly only in later builds, I can't remember) but don't know if that will work for a second, different face.

When my phone is locked (I need to drag my "locker" at the bottom upwards to unlock it) I can still access my "top menu". This is causing me to open up my phone when laying in my pocket, and its very disturbing.
Can I change so that I cant access ANYTHING on my screen while still locked?
Im having my phone rooted with insertcoin 5.0-5 (ROM)
I don't have my phone in front of me to verify this, but I believe if you enable any type of lock screen security, it will prevent the notification pulldown.

Ah, okay, but that security is to for example have an PIN code or something before enter the phone right? Will try it anyhow. Taking more tips if anyone knows how to make this work without this security enabled. Thanks for answering!
I think it is pointless to press the home button (maybe a few times) for the finger print verification. THEN I have to swipe my finger??? really? Seems redundant. I've looked in all the settings. Is there really no way to turn the swipe off?

Do you mean the swipe to unlock you would use for the lockscreen if you didn't want any pin security?
I don't have my Edge yet to check, but in all the videos I saw it unlocks as soon as it recognises your finger. Have you set Fingerprint as the "screen lock type" in "lock screen and security"? I think it is possible to use the fingerprint for paypal etc while using a traditional screen slide-to-unlock.

No, I have fingerprint security on. So you press the home button, it verifies you. Then it takes you to the lock screen where now you have to swipe. It should just take me to the launcher. ready for what I want to do. Why should I have to then swipe the screen???

I agree, but what you are describing isn't what reviewers are showing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Kc4NgYS1rs
This is what made me think "screen lock type" may still be swipe, and it may just be authenticating your fingerprint for use other than the lock screen, such as paypal.
The only other thing I can think is something is enforcing the security, might be worth checking if any software is set as a device administrator. Exchange email can enforce security settings too.
Otherwise we will have to wait for someone with an edge to double check for you.

Does not work like in the video for me. I have to swipe after the fingerprint. Or if it has been authenticated very recent I power on and just swipe.

Not sure if maybe you set something up different than I did. But I go from fingerprint to launcher. No swiping or any extra steps.

Can you check your trusted agents on other security options?
I'd like to verify if it goes straight to launcher when off and prompts for the additional swipe when on.
Settings -> lock screen and security -> other security -> trust agents.

That worked! thanks.
That's strange. I have smart lock enabled, but when I unlock with fingerprint it takes me straight to the home screen. Only when I'm connected to a trusted device do I have to swipe to unlock.
I changed my screen lock timeout..
Just needed to go to secure lock settings --> secured lock time
Set to immediately.

Agreed. If you're phone isn't actually locked. It goes to the splash./lockscreen where you have to swipe to go to launcher. If the device is locked(fingerprint locked) then unlocking will go straight to launcher.

Yeah seems stupid to me -- so now when I am home I have to swipe when I am used to pressing the fingerprint scanner anywhere else ... should just go to home page. I just turned it off so its always fingerprint
i have a iphone5S on freedompop, you just pay for the phone and get you free 200 talks, 200 texts, and 1GB data free every month without monthly fee.
on iphone5S screen, it showing "slide to unlock".
you can slide to unlock or just put your thumb on fingerprint scanner and it automatically unlock.
on samsung s6 edge, when it showing "swipe to unlock", you must swipe to unlock, it wont unlock if you put thumb on fingerprint scanner.

Search for secure lock settings, it's a setting that you can set a timeout period before requiring fingerprint scan..or make it always require fingerprint..

It really is annoying! I think Samsung's fingerprint scan does not integrate well with Android's SmartLock features.
The only solution for is to disable all SmartLock features to avoid this trouble.
The method with slide to unlock is redundant and annoying. How to remove slide to unlock?
I'm in the same boat.. every time I try to turn on fingerprint unlock, I still have to slide to unlock.. I'm missing something here..
I don't get it. When you have finger print as your unlock method there is no slide to unlock. They are mutually exclusive, you can't have both.

I have experienced the Slide to Unlock screen when I have a paired bluetooth device that I have listed as trusted. I think this is what these guys are talking about, and it is annoying. I wish it would just unlock to the home screen.
I think you should upgrade to latest firmware, i never got slide to unlock screen when i use finger screen function!
Look attachment!

Slide to unlock shows when you use the smartlock feature to keep your phone unlocked. It's there to prevent you from butt dialing someone.
Go to secure lock settng > secure lock time and set it to instant.
That way every time u lock your phone it will ask for finger print and will unlock right away

This man probably has it, your phone will not go to the lockscreen when fingerprint security is checked unless you enabled trusted devices and are near one. It should in that case simply go to the home screen as it does on most devices when similar schemes are enabled but it instead switches to swipe to unlock making the whole thing not only pointless but more work then never enabling trusted devices at all.
Its either a bug or stupidity, hopefully they get it changed.
Make sure you don't have any trusted bluetooth devices set up. If you do, you'll always have to swipe whether fingerprint authentication is enabled or not.
Aha!

Ha- that actually does work as a workaround, but sorry... What I want (and think OP is after) is to just turn off the swipe.
If the phone if unlocked, show me the home screen.
I want to take the risk of the buttdial!
Use case- pick up unlocked phone, press the side button, see home screen. Not swipe to get to home screen.
Don't know if that's a feature request or a rant or just a bit of both.

I tried to use No Lock Home module for Xposed instead of built in Smart Lock. But it doesn't eliminate Swipe to Unlock either.
I had my S6 set up to just require a pattern to unlock. Worked fine for the first 6 months I owned it. But since I allowed Samsung to upgrade my software, a swipe is needed before it will allow a pattern unlock. This happened to my wife's phone too. Thanks for the ****ing annoying "upgrade" Samsung.
So my S9+ took a tumble and was unresponsive. Luckily, I had insurance. So when I received the new device, I set it up, let everything restore that was available for restoration, and took the latest update (screenshot attached). Now my absolute favorite way to unlock a phone out of all the phones I've owned, was the gesture unlock. Not pattern, gesture. What am I missing here? I can't believe they would remove this amazing feature, so I must be missing something. Thank you!!
Anyone?
Gesture unlock as in the option for "swype" as a lock screen type?
Swype for unlocking the phone is present on my phone (G965U). If your using a 3rd party lock screen try disabling or removing it. If you have some sort of app/configuration that requires secure lock it might have disabled swype to unlock.
Otherwise maybe try factory data resetting the phone or else reflashing the update using odin?
No, not swipe to unlock, that's still available. Does no one remember gesture unlock? Like mine was up down up down up down left. Just swipe those gestures to unlock. How does nobody remember this?? Gf confirms btw, so I know I'm not crazy lmao

Gesture (singluar) unlock as I remember it was simply swiping your finger up the screen to unlock it. What your describing sounds more like a pattern unlock method.. Where multiple swipes in a specific manner will unlock the screen.
Looking on my phone there is a pattern unlock option. Is this option present on your lock screen > screen lock type settings?
** Edit - Never mind, the previous poster found the setting in question.

I want to add multiple face to unlock phone. Also please tell me how can use split screen while in full screen mode? I am using 10.3.8.0 rooted phone. Thanks
Hi,
To answer your second question:
I open two apps, than touch once bottom left (don't know how to call that button) and at the top you should see suggestion with icon for split screen. I activate it and it splits display in two asking me to drag the desired app in one of fields. Hope this helps!

Just dragging from down and hold then tap spilt screen on top. Cheers.

you can't add 2 faces. it's not possible
Kind of defeats the purpose of having Face Unlock if you are going to have more than one face. I understand you might want to add the face of your partner but it would be overly complex for the phone to remember and process two different faces.
Have you tried adding two people's fingerprints?

Wow actually I didn't think that way. Thanks
Additionally can you tell me how can I pin and unpin screen while I am using phone in full screen mode
First, please state whether you are using Stock ROM or custom ROM. As far as I know, stock MIUI 10 on POCO does not have screen pinning by default. I saw some article to enable pinning but I haven't verified if it works or not.
Also, there is a glitch in MIUI when you use screen pinning along with full screen gestures. It doesn't allow you to unpin app... This is only what I have read, I cannot test or verify. I have read the only option is to reboot the phone.
I have also read some other suggestions which say you have to press power button and slide screen at the same time. Again, as I mentioned earlier. I cannot test or verify.
But most articles I have read, they say don't use pinning if you are using full screen gestures.
Good luck.

As you mentioned I also did not see any screen pinning. Hope miui 11 does
No, it will not be added.
However you can enable it unofficially.
I don't want to use links. I'm sure you'll be able to find it. Just type "Enable Pinning MIUI in Google."
There is an article to install an app and run some commands to get pinning option.
As always, I recommend you DON'T try it.
Don't damage your ROM
