I am looking for a way to increase visibility of notifications on my Redmi 6 Android 8.1.0 O11019
I want them to actually be a pop-ups which would interrupt other applications if needed.
Second thing I would like to ask is about disconnecting apps.
Whenever I tab out of any app which is requires connection to internet (games or stuff) app disconnects I understand that Internet is cut off if I tab out - is thee anyway to prevent it from happening ?
Same with screen saver, is there a way to setup some applications to overrule phone general settings and do not turn off the screen during phone inactivity ?

I really want to improve the battery life of my Hero as at the moment it only lasts about a day.
What would you say are the best 'battery life saving tips'
Thanks!
I don't have 10 saving tips, but turning off wifi and roaming internet will probably save some battery power and only use them when needed. lock screen after a 1 minute is probably another tip that will go along way.
ddind to what tweedie suggested: Turn GPS off when not using.
All those tips might make battery last 5 minutes longer or thereabout!
Personally I have found that the following settings suit me:
Internet- always on (for calendar and email updates)
Phone set to 2G (GSM)- I switch to 3G manually when actively using internet
Bluetooth off unless I'm actively using it
Wi-Fi off unless I'm actively using it
GPS off unless I'm actively using it
Just to let you know - turning GPS off or on is reliant on the application you use.
ie, if you turn GPS on and dont use a program which requires GPS, then GPS wont be activated.
But for my two cents which i've read around:
- Turn off automatic weather updates
- Turn most schedule feeds to be at least 1 hour (twitter, email, facebook etc). The more the longer your battery will last
- Turn off 3G if not actively using internet (as mentioned above)
- Install "Spare Parts" to check which program is eating your battery the most and consider if its worth it or not
- Turn off contact sync after your initial setup on your phone. No need to keep syncing contacts when it doesn't change too often
Advanced Task Killer - Download and properly close apps down after using them. Shortcut on home for quick access
APNDroid - Disable data services (3G/GPRS/EDGE). Home screen widget for quick access
Battery Widget - Handy home screen widget showing battery life and also gives options for enabling/disabling WIFI, GPS and Bluetooth. Also display settings.
Disable auto synchronization on things like people (facebook integration), mail etc.
Screen timeout - 1 minute is normally adequate, but I suppose there's no harm in turning it down to as low as 15 seconds, just depends on how you use it.
Turning off animations? - Don't know about this but surely it won't use as much memory so can't be a bad thing. (Spare parts)
Basically everything is off unless I need it, then I switch it on.

Wifi. With wifi on all day and barely any usage of 2G, I'm down to the red zone. Without wifi and 2G all day with text, emails, web browsing, etc, I'm only down to about 80%.
Hello
I'm sorry to ask all those questions in a single post, but I would otherwise have had to post in several forums. I'll be grateful if you can answer even some of those questions.
I'm very happy with my Samsung Google Nexus, but there are things I need:
1. Ad blocker: For web browsing, I generally use Dolphin, and use Chrome when I need to start an incognito tab. Are there ad blockers for those browsers to avoid those heavy web pages?
2. Since 3G uses more battery, is there a way to tell Android to switch back to 2G automatically after Xmn of no web browsing (2G seems good enough for the few times I use GPS)?
3. I'd like to have the following shortcuts on the screen:
- Switch to 3G or 2G
- Enable/disable Airplane mode
- Enable/disable wifi
I currently use the "2G-3G OnOff" application, but as the name implies, it only handles the first item.
4. Is it possible to change my MAC address as a work-around to those pesty public access points that limit users to 20mn? There are several utilies for Windows that do this, but is there one for Android?
5. Is there a way to tell Android to go through a proxy when browsing in 3G? The Proxy Settings application only works for wifi
6. Is there a way for the phone to vibrate when receiving text messages?
7. Can the ring volume rise or go down depending on the surrounding noise? When on the street, I often miss calls because I can't hear the phone even with its volume pumped up to the maximum... which I must remember to lower back to a reasonable level when going back inside.
8. When using my phone as a GPS receiver while biking around on week-ends, I'd like to switch off data mode to save battery: Does GPS require a data connection, or can it work offline?
9. I generally find Android's default calendar nice to use, but there are a couple of things that bother me:
- it can't be squeezed vertically, wasting a lot of screen real estate, and making it possible to see appointments below a certain hour: Is there a way to squeeze/inflate the calendar through multi-touching? Here's a screenshot.
- it always displays a "Attending?" question, even though I don't use a shared calendar (I do attend my own appointments): Can this section be removed? Here's a screenshot.
Thanks for any help.
Hi everybody,
My device is rooted with pure stock 4.2.2 and mediatek 6572 processor.
Problems: (ONLY OVER WIFI and SCREEN OFF)
1. all my notifications are either delayed or undelivered, when screen is off.(not SMSes but those over WiFi)
2. GTalk messages always take 5 minutes(Heartbeat Interval duration) when screen off
3. Play Store apps are never updated/ downloaded when screen is off, start right after screen is on
4. IM apps like Xabber never get IMs until screen turned on
Exceptions:
1. NO PROBLEMS WHILE SCREEN ON
2. Gmail ALWAYS gets email exactly after 30 seconds or more(possibly rules out connection timing out)
3. Above problems disappear using MOBILE DATA
4. NEVER HAPPENS during charging
5. With LOCATION REPORTING enabled, Talk messages reach within 30-40 seconds, with screen off.( battery consumption doubles also)
ALREADY TRIED:-
1. In sleep policy set to Always On
2. Used PNF and set heartbeat interval at 5 minutes, to no avail
3. PORT 5228 not blocked on router
4. WiFi optimizations turned off
5. No battery saving mode or 3rd party app enabled
6. Background Data Restrictions disabled
7. Same thing in SAFE MODE
8. Did FACTORY RESET
9. Tried logging in from another Google account
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
same problem here, have you found the solution?
I have done your own attempts..but nothing.
i have two android phones with CM11, 1 has no delay and one yes
Sounds like the device is going into a very deep sleep when the screen is off. Most likely a software setting or a kernel setting that some use boost battery life. Also make sure not to have greenify installed.
My wifi and data connection disconnects when screen goes off on my huawei ascend mate 2. For samsung phones it can be solved with secret codes like ##0011# but for huawei phones the secret codes are not working. or do you know a working secret code on hardware level for this? my power save mode is off. wifi is set on always on mode. auto synchronisation is on. my apps can all run in background. So I have set off all possible energy saving option for all apps. besides I have downloaded apps to keep wifi always on. but when I put it on always on mode on this app. It mentions that the wifi set on always on mode. but after 2 seconds I open the app (wifi always on app) it says that the wifi is on saving mode and not in always on mode. So there is another more dominant program (probably the huawei custom ROM) who has more privileges than a normal app so that it avoids that wifi is on always on mode.
Sometimes even when the screen is on, viber whatsapp does not receive calls or messages you should launch the app to receive calls and messages. you would say that it is a synchronisation problem. No. No. sync is on for all accounts. all accounts have full access on all my data and on the battery. All settings about battery saving options are set off.
I have sort of the same issue. I use KIK to talk to a lot of friends and on other phones I've had (LG G3 previously), I could load up the task manager and clear away all apps and it had no effect on getting messages. Now, with the HAM, if I clear away running programs, including KIK, even though I have KIK set as a protected app, I will not get any messages and people who send me messages say it stays on S (sent) as opposed to D (delivered). If I clear out all running apps and then load KIK up again before turning off the screen, the messages get delivered and I get notification. It's a little annoying, but keeping the program I want to receive notifications, running, seems to solve the issue for me.
Hi,
I am using Netguard on my device.
The VPN is disconnected after closing another app, by pressing the middle home button.
I already mentioned this problem in the netguard thread, but it is not netguard related, seems to be a miui problem.
Problem:
Netguard is stopping sometimes since Android 10 update (MIUI 11.0.1).
It pops up a message: Can't connect to always on VPN and I am online without firewall.
the Logo [VPN] on the top right switches to the KEY logo (I know from older android versions) to the top left and the netguard message "enforcing rules ..." in the top down menu is gone.
it is closing netguard by closing the game, the VPN and Netguard notification message is available during gameplay
As far as I noticed, it happen mostly after playing games like clash royale.
Settings:
Battery optimization is off for Netguard
Autostart permission is on for Netguard
unable to find "memory optimization", I deactivated MIUI optimization in the developer settings instead
deactivated miui bloatware with XiaomiADBFastbootTools
game turbo is deactivated
Security -> Battery & performance -> Battery saver >> is deactivated
From the home screen:
-> open recent apps
-> press and hold netguard
-> add a lock
Maybe it happens less frequently with added lock under recent apps and not when apps are manually cleared. But sometimes it occurs anyway.
Someone know a solution?

Did you use any other vpn? Not yet, then first try other vpn and check either you still face same issue or may be you will get a good experience. I suggest you to try a free trail of PureVPN, if it resolves your concern that is good sign otherwise you can cancel your trial without paying any single cent. By this you will get another experience and the good thing is, it offers a new feature which is directly related to your concern such as "on demand vpn".
