We are a community of tech savies that have limited access to internet, and all of us have "SANDISK Clip Sport" MP3 players. We are loading custom music on our devices via OTG.
Android version: 6.0.1
Phone model: SM-S550TL
OTG Checker = all verified
USB storage doesn't list under Settings - Storage
USB storage isn't listed in " My Files"
USB storage isn't listed in " ES File Manager" nor " Xim"
ONLY able to copy files using " OTG Disk Explorer Pro" which lacks capabilities of copying to USB from SD card and cannot delete or modify files from USB storage.
Also, "OTG Disk Explorer Pro" frequently gives a file system error and can't access several of our USB storage devices, giving error "Drive cannot be opened. Please check if the file system of USB is FAT32 or NTFS!!"
Unfortunately, rooting the Android phone I'm using is NOT an option.
I'm sure with enough research I'd find the answer, but with the very limited amount of direct internet access, I'm asking my community to assist.
I'm also having problems with transferring music to the mp3 as well but I have figured out a few tricks that you might would like to know you can use the automatag app to remove all the covers then just load the song again on the mp3 and it will take it off the mp3 same will work if there is a bad song just make sure the name of the file is the same also I figured out if you rename every song as numbers before you put it on the mp3 if you wanted to change the song with another you can put a new song on with the same number and it will replace it but I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to read when it says unknown file type just keep resetting it and also try scanning it on the computer may help also don't let it freeze up to long or it will make it stick to where it won't load anymore music you just have to watch it and if it starts to freeze unplug it fast hope you can use any of this info good luck

Hi,
I am completely new to android coming from WinMo.
I have 4 new Nexus S phones in the family. I need to transfer some files to all of the phones. There is no SD card, only 16GB Flash. All of the files I need are on my mac, but I can use PC as well if this is easier.
1. How do I transfer music and video files to the phones from the computer?
2. I have several large .apk files on my mac (Large enough that I cannot e-mail them). I would like to sideload them, but cannot use SD card method. How do I transfer them to the phone for installation?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Please be as specific as possible, as I never used android before. WinMo used to be easy with Windows on PC.
Thanks a lot
Sincerely,
Mike
You can connect the phone to your computer with a USB cable.
Hello,
The way i would do it is to transfer the files over usb via a micro usb to usb cable connected to your computer, of which should come with the phones. I only know the process for windows but mac should work the same.
Before you connect the phone to the computer you must make sure usb debugging is enabled on the phones you want to connect. This setting is found in your applications menu, in there click on settings then applications then development then check the box 'usb debugging'. It will come up with a warning message read if you want then press ok. While you are there you might as well check the box 'unknown sources' under applications which will allow you to install your large .apk's from your internal memory rather than the android market.
Once this is done you now need to connect the usb cable. If all is good you should see a green little android with a usb cable for a hand. Click on 'turn on usb storage'. This will hopefully send windows to fetch drivers for your phone to install it and any future sd card you intend to buy as a hardrive listed under my computer. IF you have software on the phone that is used to sync media this may take your phone and display it in my computer as a portable device.
Once the file is on your phone you can then send that file over bluetooth to the other phones if you prefer may save a little time if your in a rush. This is between phones. Go back into settings found in your applications menu. This time go to Wireless and Network, go to Bluetooth settings and in this turn on bluetooth (must be done for each phone though when you want to transfer). Now you must pair the phones that will be transferring before sending/recieving files. To do this make sure the THEIR phone is set to be visible and then 'search for devices' on YOUR phone. You can skip that 'search for devices' step simply by clicking on the name of the phone if it shows up saying 'paired but not connected'. You will get a warning if they are connected, and you wont have to pair the two devices again.
Now you can go back to the files you transfered from usb and find it in your file browser, long press on the file and select share, then bluetooth then it will send a notification to the other phone. On the other phone to accept the incoming bluetooth file you must pull down the dropdown menu (slide downwards with your finger from the top edge of the home screen) and accept via the notification.
Goodluck.

1. Use a USB cable.
2. Use this: http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...-central-sideload-wonder-machine-v-1-2-a.html . I recommend using the installer version (for windows) and make sure you have the drivers installed for your device.
Dear all,
Strange potential issue with my ASUS Prime...
When I connect it to my PC with MTP, I'm not seeing all the files. E.g. I have a folder which contains about 15 media files and on my Windows 7 machine I only see 3 of them..
Is there another way to access the internal storage over USB ? I would like to use a Linux system to copy large amount of files..
Thanks
I already found that I can see the "missing" files by first executing a rescan.
There is an app for this SDrescan in Android Market
So still asking if we can do anything to get the old USB storage back ?

This USB storage thing IS a problem on Linux sytems with the Prime, right now. I tried everything to get it to work one day ... before finally realizing that I was wasting my time.
To copy files, you could use ADB, but that is really slow for large amounts of copying, and you do have to install the Google SDK on your machine (which isn't a bad thing, but takes time.)
3 other solutions (1 & 2 are a 2-step copy process ... and only #1 is a USB method):
1) Instead of MTP, you can use the photo option (PTP, I believe) ... it's the choice right next to MTP in your settings. Unfortunately, with this method, you can only copy to your photo folder, so from there you would need to move your files to your final destination folder. PTP did allow me to see and move any type of files.
2) Copy your files to a microSD and plug them into your Prime's microSD and copy from there. (I know this is an obvious solution, but for completeness, I included it!)
3) AirDroid -- I've used this, and it works well ... probably quite slow for large amounts of copying.
Not the greatest solutions, but they will get you by...
One thing that i discovered that let me see all my files and be able to copy them to my TFP without issues is adding the UDEV rules. wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Udev gives you a good walkthrough on how to do that, just do the all models part and change the vendor id and everything should work for you. I verified this with LinuxMint and LMDE
Hi, Before when I had my Desire HD, connected the phone via USB to TV, and could see the contents, also appeared a message asking me if I wanted to charge only, and now with the HOX+ the TV does not recognize any device, only charge
How I can play the contents of the phone on the TV via USB?
Thanks..
Charging only, because sdcard is not mounted as usb drive anymore, we have mtp device. If you are rooted you can try viper virtual sd card app
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium App
Viper VirtualSD
Hi!
I flash Viper 1.6 on my HOX+ and try to use VirtualSD feature.
MTP is a terrible system, I try to use, but this failed a lot of times, copy large archives is impossible with MTP. And I lost the possibility of use my device like a USB drive to connect on TV, Radio, Decoder etc.
VirtualSD really works to create a virtual SD, my windows recognized this, and I able to copy files direct with windows explorer.
But, continues with errors. I try to copy a ISO file 2.3 Gb, and copy stops every time I tried.
I copied a file 600 Mb AVI with sucess, but when I try to view this archive on my digital decoder of Tv, the device is not recognized.
Someone have sucess on copy large files or play media files with VirtualSD in other devices than nothing a PC?
Sorry my poor english!

Go to an online shopping site (ebay preferably) and search for the mhl micro usb. Get the one that suites your liking. I got the red one meant for Samsung. Replicates screen on to tv.
Nexus 9 to PC
Hi, this is my first post on any forum anywhere! usually i can google my way out of the problem, but i am stumped - it might be possible there is not a solution......
I have a nexus 9 with Word app, on which i create documents for work in .docx format. i need to transfer them to my PC for printing and further editing VIA USB as work policy won't allow the tablet to connect to work wifi or to use Cloud transfer.
I connect usb as MTP, see 'Internal Storage' - cannot find any of the word docs anywhere, i have tried to save them on a bunch of different places in the Nexus but still no joy. All of the guides i have seen end at the 'internal storage ' part and then say 'just transfer between pc and device'. I have been able to transfer pc to android and edit on Nexus, but then re-reading the file on the PC it is flagged as 'corrupted'.
Is there some software for the pc i need, or is it simply $$%"£"""£££ and i need to get a MS tablet for work?
thanks for any help!
Have you tried OTG cable? I normally use the cloud option or just have my work saved via email, but you certainly have the option to connect an OTG cable to your device with a flashdrive and use a file manager app to transfer files over while avoiding corruption.
Hello,
I have a JioFi dongle with a 64Gb micro sd in it, to facilitate local wifi storage. The difficulty I face is that, i cant seem to get a seamless synchronization with the data stored in the dongle.
Earlier I used to have ES file explorer and I used to set it up along with my pc within a LAN network so that I could easily share files wirelessly by simply setting permissions for the folder to be shared.
But now I've moved to the open source world, and I could hardly find an alternative to make it possible with my WiFi dongle. Syncthing did cross my mind, but it needs the recipient device to have that installed as well (which is not possible since in this case the device is a dongle).
Eventually, i have to use a browser and share the files through it, with every time logging in as admin. That is tiresome.
So, any possible method I could implement here ? I only need a file explorer like experience so as to easily stay in sync with the data stored in it.
TL;Dr - Any method by which I could sync and access the local data stored in a portable wifi storage, perhaps a file explorer (preferably open source) ?
