Ported MIUI Camera vs stock MIUI camera - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hello friends,
I am actually a oneplus 3t user and I already know the advantages of rooting.
as in case of oneplus 3t, the ported oxygen camera(Nougat one) is not better than the stock oxygen os camera. Overall, no camera is better than the stock one in case of oneplus device.
I want to know, whether the ported MIUI camera has the same camera quality as compared to the stock MIUI camera.

Camera on Pocophone F1 ROMs

When new ROMs release (like LineageOS for Poco Pocophone F1), how will the camera perform?
Will it include the same quality, AI and specs like the main ROM?
And... I've seen that new official ROM/Firmware updates can update the camera quality via AI, will that be possible to include in the ROMs easily? Is that part of the Treble partition? Or that is not part of the Treble and opensourced, and thus quite difficult to include?

it would need a poco miui camera port to get these AI features at customs ROMs. I don't know why but for the moment gcam isn't even running flawlessy, maybe due to camera firmware. opencamera works and even footej cam. I've tested snapdragon camera and these ports don't work for me on lineageos 15. hmd camera starts but can't enter settings menu and I'm getting grainy photos.

Switching Galaxy S8 to Xiaomi Mi 8. Worth it?

Hi buddies!
My 3 last smartphones were Samsung ones (A5/2016, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8) and now I'm thinking of trying something different.
I have nothing to complain about my Galaxy S8, but let's say that I'm tired of it.
I use the smartphone mainly for for social media and taking pictures, so, the camera is the more important feature for me.
Thinking of a new smartphone, I have Xiaomi Mi 8 and OnePlus 6T in mind.
I had in my hands the Mi A1 and Mi A2, but never used one with MIUI.
How about the screen quality? Will I notice too much difference switching back from 1440p to 1080p?
Is Mi 8 camera better than Galaxy S8's?
What you guys have to say about this deal?
No, you won't notice the difference between 1440 and 1080. Screen is excellent but s8 screen is a little brighter. Nevertheless xiaomi developer team is really really slooooow don't expect to be up to date with Android releases. I mean I am running 8.1 on mi8 (flagship) while the S7 is already on Pie.

Xiaomi updates every week ONLY Beta Builds. S7 has PI look it up I can show you some picture later. Please stop confusing people glorifying xiaomi dev team.

Most of Xiaomi users even don't know what is MIUI Beta/Weekly and the Global Stable ROM is very slow to update.
I had the S8 and made the change to Mi 8.
At first, running the Global stable rom, i was kinda let down. Hdr didn't work, camera was not good and headphone audio volume was low.
Then i installed the Global beta rom (based on pie). All the above problems were fixed, the camera if you want to install the bsg Gcam is Amazing. Stock is good too but Gcam is miles ahead. The norch support is improved, you can now get notifications on status bar.
The mi 8 is snappier ( touchwiz is laggy).Battery on this thing is really good (geting 7h SOT on miui). The Mi 8's screen is a downgrade but not as big as i first thought. I played many videos side by side and could notice "blacker" blacks on the S8.
My opinion is to go with mi 8 if you want to install a custom rom, to make it pixel-like or AOSP in general.
Imho even a Redmi note 6 pro would be a massive upgrade from any Samsung device.
Can't stand their roms and bloatware. Great hardware but awful software.

S7 has Pie only on custom Roms! Mostly on crappy AOSP Rom's where the battery life and camera quality is really bad.
Mi 8 and also Poco has Pie on official Beta from vendor. Even the S9 didn't have a official beta from Vendor with Pie (as far i know, but don't keep an eye on S9 dev).
Please keep the facts! Has nothing to do with glorifying someone.

No. You are confusing them. S7 has no official OTA pie update. S9 does not have stabel OTA pie. Infact, both Xiaomi and Samsung are really slow.

In principle, I advise you against it,
I have Mi8 it is very good phone at an excellent price, I moved from Galaxy Note 4
Mi8 battery life is great, usually I get +7 hours of SOT, and sometimes I reach 48 hours of use on one charge.
display is great, colors and brightness
I don't play games on it but the performance is smooth in general
the design and dimensions are very good also
the finger print sensor is fast , convenient and well placed.
charging is faster than Samsung's
I have used Samsung's software for years and I like, but you can easily get used to MIUI.
the stock camera software is not that good, but you can use a Gcam port like I do.
I have one complain about the Mi8 which is the speaker loudness, it is nearly inaudible if compared to my previous Note 4.
if you "need" a new phone immediately it will be a very good choice at a budget.
If you are looking for an upgrade from the S8, I think you Mi 8 is not a suitable one, neither the OP6T, especially with that in-display slow andn insecure finger print sensor.
I explained my reasons here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/how-to/love-mi-8-t3876024.

You will notice the difference in sound quality if you have an In-ear monitor (IEM) like KZ ZSN.
but price wise, and performance yeah I will definitely choose Mi8. will just need to unlock and tweak the audio. cheers
I've done it myself and I can say that I love the MI8 for its overall performance and MIUI10 which is to me so far the best Android experience. I do miss some stuff tough like the wireless charging and IP68 certification which was really nice to have. But I don't regret my purchase.

I honestly couldn't tell if it's better or worse but it's really decent ?
I have the The mi 8 pro (in UK) and can confirm that the camera is nowhere near as good as the Samsung.
Very, very, disappointed.

Poco worth it for LineageOS? Is it a solid alternative to a pixel 2 xl?

Hello, how are you?
I am wanting to buy a new phone for Christmas.
I am thinking about a poco f1 for the specs and price.
But I would like to use a stock android experience.
How is the poco with the current unofficial LineageOS?
How is the performance and stability?
Also, is the poco with LineageOS thanks to the better 845 Soc and 6gb of ram a better phone than a pixel 2 xl?
How does the LineageOS rom with gapps compare to the stock Android on the Pixel 2 xl?
And the camera? How is LineageOS with the bsg pixel camera port against the Pixel 2 xl?
Thank you for your help.
Regards

I bought my Poco F1 roughly a month ago, and I flashed lineage os a couple of days ago. I really like lineage, it feels very solid and quick, not had any issues at all yet. The stock camera that is bundled with lineage works well, but doesnt have many options for changing settings. Ive only had a little go with the B.S.G camera ports, and the one I tried seemed to have an issue with the preview when taking pictures. I think I may have turned a setting on by mistake or something. I did have it fully working for a bit, and it worked really well. Overall, I think this phone is great, my only real gripes with it were software based issues, but with lineage, all of those issues have been solved for me.
I cant compare it against the Pixel 2 XL as ive never owned or used one. I can compare it against my previous phone, the OnePlus One And the Poco is miles apart from the One.
If you wanted a full pixel experience, there is a couple of roms which are made to be as close to pixel as possible. LinusTechTips on youtube did a video on it.

Suggest Google camera for Redmi Note 4/4x snapdragon

Hello all, I've been using GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1 on my redmi note 4 snapdragon for a long time. I want to change to a newer one with nightsight, if there is finally a stable one with good quality. Which one do you suggest?

Can we talk about the current state of F1 development?

The pocophone F1 was the best phone I ever had and I miss it dearly, so I decided to buy a used one in the next few days.
I would like to know a few things regarding the current state of it's development:
In terms of gcam, does the original pixel 3 gcam is still the best, most compatible version for the f1? I've had a few android phones and none had the compatibility and stability that the f1 offered, and I'm afraid that with the new android 13 roms the pixel 3 gcam isn't compatible....
Is the custom rom development still active for the F1? Saw that Havoc Os hasn't been updated in quite a long time and I really love that one

I am using BSG Gcam ports (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/) and the latest stable release (8.1.101) is working perfectly well for me.
Regarding ROMs, development is still active (LineageOS, crDroid, etc.) and totally suitable for a daily-driver use.

Thanks for replying,
Do you notice an improvement with the latest gcam versions compared to the 6.xxx versions? I remember the old version as a reliable, stable and legit equal to the pixel.

I have never used the 6.xxx versions, so I couldn't tell you, but in my opinion, the quality, detail, sharpness, especially in good lighting (but low-light shots are also good) are outstanding and really close, if not equal, to Pixel phones and iPhones from the same "era" (and maybe up to some of today lower-end models).
We have the same optics (from Sony, I don't remember the exact model) as many Pixel phones (minus the Optical Image Stabilization) and we also benefit from the Image Signal Processor of a flagship SoC (Snapdragon 845).
