Hi All
I've got the HTC Leo (radio 2.06.51.07). I'm having a problem with the Bluetooth functionality.
My car has the Ford Microsoft Sync capability in it. The phone is troublesome, the music player (via A2DP) won't change tracks from the car interface, only works sometimes. The play button doesn't always work either..it works fine provided I change tracks via the phone interface. I have tried a soft reset and hard reset.
I want to try another radio version ( I think this is related to the Bluetooth, right?). Do I need to reinstall my ROM everytime I do this or can I do it on the fly?
Also, which radio versions will work with my ROM version? (1.66.405.2 (766410 WWE)
I just wanted to say i have the EXACT same problem as you with my Nissan nav system + bluetooth. The phone connects within 10 seconds or so after starting the car, but getting music to begin playing is a real chore and behaves as erratically as you described. Often I'll lean on the FF/RW keys to force it to shuffle, then hit pause or play and it will just start working all the sudden. Once it is going I can choose songs just fine, but if I try to pause good luck getting it unpaused.
Yes that's the same thing I'm having.
I noticed today that if I remove the phone from the sleeve (the leather pouch we were supplied with the phone) it seems to work more often?
I notice that with my bluetooth headphones, if the phone is inside my jacket pocket, the bluetooth reception is really crap... the music starts to cut out as its playing.
I wonder if it's something to do with the reception or bandwidth available over A2DP? Maybe I'll drop the sound quality of the A2DP right down and see if it works better then.
i had similar problems trying to connect the phone to my parrot hands free kit in my car (i still havent got it to work). try radio 2.11, its not the latest but seems to be the most stable. you with have to install hard SPL on your device, but wont have to re-install the ROM. after that give it a try, if you still have issues, have a look at tweaking the bluetooth settings through an app called hd2tweak. there is a section called bluetooth which has a few options you can change, you may need to increase the bitpool. also check that you have added the bluetooth device on the phone and that it is an authorised device and the incomming connections are accepted (this is in the standard bluetooth options). also try disabling SAP (SIM access) and see if that helps, i have to have this disabled to use my blueotooth headset, no idea why though
Is your Bluetooth always visible turned on?
If not, slide over to the settings tab and select all settings from the menu. Select the Bluetooth icon and it will ask if you want to turn Bluetooth on, tap yes. A screen will appear with the settings button in the upper left corner, tap it. A menu will appear, select the discoverable entry (the binoculars) and make sure the always visible radio button is selected. That should do it. Before making this change, the pioneer Nav. system in my car was having difficulty finding the phone. Since the change everything has worked just fine. I hope this helps.

Hi thanks for the hint... I checked and it is set to always visible but I can see how that could have affected it! Thanks anyway

Thanks for letting me know, I'll give that a go and post the results back. I upgraded the Radio to 2.10.50.28_2 a few nights ago, that didn't seem to make much difference, I'll try the 2.11 (if I can find it!)
Ok I think I have figured out whats going on here. It's the sense player at fault. I switched to windows media player and let it import all my tracks/playlists, and it plays the songs 100% perfect without delay every time. I can even get more track info on the nav screen, like album etc. Pause/Play/Skip work flawlessly.
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!! You are absolutely right!
It works like a dream now. I wonder what the hell it is that is different in the HTC sense player?!
Does anyone know why the HTC sense player ignores some commands but answers others?
Hi everyone!
I've searched this a thousand times and can't seem to find anything current. I'm looking for a head unit that simply allows steering wheel controls and Bluetooth multipoint. I don't care how it looks, because I plan on installing my Nexus 9 into the dash and keeping my Nexus 6 in it's mount.
Ideally, I'd like the tablet to be the master connection, until sound comes out from my phone, then the phone takes over (be it music, a phone call, etc.) I'd also like to be able use my steering wheel controls... So!
Anyone have any leads for me? Many thanks in advance!
Hello to everyone and sorry for my bad English.
I bought a from ebay a Car-DVD- Android-4-2-for-Mercedes-Benz-C-Class-W203-W209-C230-C240-C280-C320-C350 with item number 181653721821 and after lot of work I installed the unit to my car yesterday. I am not sure but about the unit model but I think it's KGL-7508 with RK3066 CPU and anroid 4.2.2 jellybeam operation system (CPU and operation system are correct) .
All working till today, I was trying to connect internet via wifi and as I did yesterday, and nothing. I turn wifi on and turned off by it self and finally it stuck and didn't do anything. I pressed the reset button from the unit and it turned on, but again the wifi didn't work. My next move was to press from menu "RETURN TO FACTORY SETTINGS". When the procedure completed some of apps erased and my steering wheel buttons won't working (the steering wheel controls works perfectly with the rest car) either the wifi. I tried by menu steering wheel to fix it exactly as the instruction manual says but nothing.
So please if anyone knows PLEASE HELP ME with, what I can do to fix it steering wheel controls and wifi or just the controls ?
Hello! First sorry for my poor language.
Polish android forums can tell me only stupid ideas, these people can't use brains.
I want to open discussion about mounting smartphone with Android to car. Important things: considered connect charger(i have car electric items and idea how to connect and hide wiring), make car recorder(AutoGuard app), make audio source(bluetooth connected for car radio - without wiring), sometimes use Torque app(i have OBD 2 mini ELM adapter).
I have some old phone - Samsung SM-G350. Car is passat b5, but its not important.
My samsung is rooted, have cyanogenmod 11 on android 4.4.4. I'm searching ideas for reaction in my telephone when i turn on my engine. For example - if i turn engine on, car charger is working and callphone battery is loading. I want to in this moment run AutoGuard and start recording, or screen is displaying always and is unlocked.
Have some ideas? Maybe change android files? Some scripts? Help me, i need to good advices.
You need the Android Auto for that, old cars don't usually have it.
To have something mounted, your best option is to get an Android Auto receiver, but you'll have to do the research with your car info and stuff like that. You could also just get a simple phone mount for pretty cheap on an online store like Amazon.
With Tasker, possibly, you might be able to use that root capability to its potential by setting up some automation stuff that opens apps once the phone detects power input (once it is plugged in).
Android Auto is a good option, but I don't think that it runs on Android 4.4.4. You'll have to get something newer.
(I also just realized that this is a really old thread that people are responding to now. )
Hi,
I'm building "accessory" box that allows me to add Carplay to my 2016 Audi A6 that has no carplay support. The build in infotainment has analog video in using Audi AMI connector. The plan is to use Raspberry Pi running LineageOS connected to infotainment video/audi in, and using CarLinkit usb-carplay dongle run Carplay in the Raspberry.
The center console controll knobs / buttons communicate the headunit via rs232 serial - and when the infotainment is on aux video mode, only the back button is in use. The plan is to use the stock controlls to conrol this monstrosity. So far i have connected my laptop in between to map the data each key press send ie: each click of the wheel to the left send "3#56" trough the serial.
Now the real question is, how i can use this to controll the android? So that each time the wheel turns to left it would be mapped as arrow key left in android?
Bump!
I'm literally wondering in the woods how / where I should start unraveling this... If this would be normal PC enviroment and i could use Python i would know how to do it, but being and IOS guy i have no idea how the android functions and where is should start: Can i make autorunning app that emulates keyboard from the serial input? or what would be the best way for it?
I am currently attempting the same thing. I’m half-way through gathering my parts and pieces so I can’t speak to a functioning example. What I can say is what I am trying to do to leverage the in-vehicle iPod controls to control the Pi.
Search for an android app called “PodEmu”.
It spoofs the vehicle’s head unit into thinking an android device is actually an iPod. You have to create you own DIY cable to make the connection happen but I’ve managed to cobble one together for about $15.
Download the app, plug in your homemade cable and you should be set (in theory). In a perfect world it will even transfer the artist info to your vehicle but I’m currently running into notification enablement issues between PodEmu and LineageOS.
