it's probably just me, and something really simple, but when I'm using my phone and someone messages me on the FB msg app, I no longer get the drop down showing the message ? I get the notification alert and the icon, but thats it
Everything in the app settings is turned on and for other messaging apps (IG, Textra etc) I'm not having any issues......
any ideas?

Ha dang - got excited seeing a reply
Check drop zone is activated....if you search Google Huawei drop zone it mentions FB and receiving notifications etc.
Drop zone is found in (stock app) phone manager.
Has any battery savings been disabled.
I have similar issue with Gmail not giving notifications etc.
Has FB messenger changed/updated? Check settings in app.
Yup drop zone is activated. Toggled it on and off to make sure. Had one message drop down and thought it was fixed but then it resorted back to how it was.
Partners is still showing drop downs so the app hasn't changed.
Cant for the life of me work this out !
Clutching at straws but some of my notification issues with SMS messages not popping up started working when I turned off smart lockscreen notifications in security settings face detection.
I can't say that this is going to fix it.

2 Issues Ive seen with the evo LTE so far
My haptic feedback vibration seems to rattle the phone. Its normal on phone calls and SMS receives, but it feels loose during haptic feedback. Anyone else's liek this?
Second issue is with Go SMS Pro. I keep getting text messages where Im receiving a message from "matt" but in my go sms inbox it shows "sue" as the name. If i watch the notification bar while the message is received it is correct, but its mixing them up with the wrong contacts in the inbox. Anyone else see this? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but its still doing it. I did notice if i task kill Go SMS, then restart, the messages revert to their proper names, but it starts doing it again.

i have the haptic feedback issue as well. When texting, i initially thought that sound feedback was on, but it was the vibration motor clicking for some reason.
I hope its not a big deal..gonna be annoying in class

1 - Same here, I didn't notice it yesterday but the more I use the phone the more vibration it has. It's funny that this was posted, i was just thinking if the phone is going to vibrate apart.
what about the go sms issue?
I thought I was the only one. I noticed the vibration issue too, I had this problem with my OG EVO and I tried to take it in to Sprint but it was too loud in the store for them to hear it. Anyone know how we can deal with this?

My vibration is also very loud had to turn it off for all notifications and all haptic feedback, now I noticed I have a have a dead pixel on the very top of my screen to, anything else wanna go wrong?
I think I'm having the vibration issue as well. Has anyone's gotten worse since first noticing the issue?
When it comes to Galaxy S2 ICS 4.0.3, the problem is that GoSMS uses vibration settings from "vibrate on screen tap"
Solution:
- System settings>Sound>Vibration intensity> and set "vibrate on screen tap" as you like.
- If intense vibration on screen tap bothers you, you can completely disable it at the bottom of the sound section (..>Sound); just uncheck "Vibrate on screen tap".
I use a Perfect Keyboard which allows you to adjust the vibration level for the keys (along with many other customizations.) As far as GoSMS, I used it for a year up until last week and switched to Chomp. I didn't have issues as you describe with Go, but whenever I would send an MMS, it would repeatedly show up as a draft that I would have to remove over and over. I also grew tired of the bloatware with Go and constantly being signed into GoChat, which would screw up my texting. Their themes are loaded with airpush as well and now they are charging for features that were once free, such as contact pictures, private box and backup. Chomp is a much cleaner experience with all the features I need, including Facebook contact pics, without the garbage of Go.

I noticed this before I rooted my phone and it is starting to bug me. I have already check roaming notifications and all are off. What happens is at random times I get a doorbell sound from my phone and the notification light blinks. No notification are displayed, no gmail, no email, no text message. Does anyone have a clue what is causing this notification, and if so how do I disable it?

Do you have Yahoo Mail installed? You can tell it to not put notification in the toolbar but it'll still make the sound and flash the notification light. It's default sound kind of sounds like a doorbell. For me that mail account gets a lot of junk so I don't want to be notified I have mail unless I manually check. Overall I hate that app and with my new EVO I just use HTC's email application.
I get the same thing and it happens when I go into roam, no matter what roaming notification settings I turn off. I posted this issue in other forums and haven't had any luck. My next step is to install stock ROM and see if maybe there's just something on the software side screwed up.

You are correct it was yahoo mail. I had turned off notifications but did not turn off sound. Thanks for your help.
Glad I could help. I had the same exact issue on my OG evo after Yahoo updated that app.
As of last few weeks, I do not have any gmail notifications in notification bar.
I looked around and found many have same issue and some say to go into gmail settings on phone and turn a bunch of notifications for this and that on. So I did. Everything is turned on, no notifications.
Phone DOES receive new emails, as when I go into any of my gmail accounts on the phone, inbox will say "3 new" or whatever the number of new messages is.
But none will show in notification bar.
Suggestions? I just spent 45 minutes digging this out online and fooling with accounts settings on my phone. Every one says notifications turned on, labels and all that new bs turned on, etc. Sync is of course tuned on. Good connection. I mean - EVERYTHING says it should work on the phone.
No notifications. Just had another email pop on PC screen for one of my emails, in Thunderbird - phone is silent.
Thank you.
Any apps or mods that might be blocking notifications? Are your other notifications working properly?
If you're using Priority Inbox, you have to enable notifications for all other tabs besides Inbox. I kinda don't think that's your problem based on your description, but FYI anyway.

For a while now, whenever I get notifications, gmail even sometimes text (sms) , they'll get delayed until I wake my phone or when I do a manual sync.
Sometimes they'll come through instantly, but sometimes they mostly wait until I wake the phone/manual sync and then they all come through all at once.
Has anyone else had this problem, is there a fix? I've seen notification fixer, I'll give that a try!
Thanks,
JP
Me too. Also no longer get gmail notifications on gear 2 even when gmail does come through on its own
It's been happening to me too. Couldn't understand why as I didn't change anything other than download a few apps that should have had no impact.
Android Nougat 7.1.1
I excluded Whatsapp and GMail from battery optimization (doze), I set the notifications to level 4, ensured that there is no data restriction for these apps; however most of the time to see notifications I have to wake up the phone from deep sleep (by turning on the screen): in facts, most of the time when I wake up the phone, after some seconds I receive a lot of old notifications and missed calls of Whatsapp and also emails of GMail/Inbox.
I also tried by not closing whatsapp, but leaving its window in background, but nothing solved this major issue.
In developer options, under active applications section, whatsapp and GMail are not always present (after a while they falls in "background applications", which, to from what I heard, is ok).
I also heard that to keep an app always active (if we are without root) there is the need to have a persistent notification, but Whatsapp and GMail are not provided with such option.
On another phone with Lollipop 5.0, a phone which I rooted, I had the same issue which I solved by using "Push Notification Fixer", but on the phone with Nougat (an Xperia) I can't/won't enable the root (otherwise I will lost the camera's DRM); since "Push Notification Fixer (PNF)" on the rooted phone was able to solve the issue, I suspect that the culprit is GCM (Google Cloud Messaging)? by using PNF on the rooted phone I set the "heartbeat" to 5 mins.
I know that there's also a "no root" version of PNF, but doesn't works reliable for me.
So: maybe there is a way to always keep Whatsapp and GMail In running apps or there is another workaround/fix?
Thanks.

Well, since yesterday I installed an app called "Recurrent Notification Manager" which is able to intercept notifications from apps which I choosed (Whatsapp and Inbox) and the most notable thing is that this app is provided with a persistent notification: I noticed that when I receive a Whatsapp message, is firstly reported by this app instead of whatsapp. What I mean:
First of all: I inserted whatsapp inside this app by choosing a green color of the led and a personal sound.
1) I send a messagge to myself from another phone after a while of deep sleep (eg 1 hour)
2) I receive a notification after few seconds
3) I wake up the phone and I see a notification from "Recurrent Notification Manager" but nothing from whatsapp itself
4) I open whatsapp and I receive the message.
Well, this behaviour, at least, seems to make me able to immediately receive notifications.
I will keep on do tests and I hope that this app really solved the bothersome issue.

I'm sorry for the noise: I'm updating step by step this thread to notice every single action that seems to help.
In "Recurrent Notification Manager" app, I also set to monitor "ongoing notifications"; these appear to be the notifications that Whatsapp often displays before of receiving a message, when it says "Checking new messages" and "You may have new messages" (I'm not very sure about the English grammar since I have the Italian language set on my phone) : I often see these notifications before receiving a message and sometimes I also have to wait some minutes, to receive a message: "Recurrent Notification Manager" will send me a "real notification" when Whatsapp shows only these "early notifications"; in facts, as I've said, when I receive a new message, the first notification is from the notification manager instead of Whatsapp.
