Super Steady in S9 - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

It's possible to have Super Steady video in S9 or it's a feature that needs hardware to be functional? S9 have double camera with super angular, and for me maybe it's possible to have. Anyone knows?

I'm wondering the same.

I hope it's software. If its only software, probably will be ported.

Till now on s9+ didnt have it, but a70 already have, i think it s9+ didnt have hardware requirement

Unfortunately it's not, because it's a hardware thing.
Super steady mode takes videos from the ultrawide camera and crops them to give you an impression of super steady video. That's why all Samsung devices with an ultrawide camera have this feature, and since the S9 and the S9+ don't have it, it's pretty much impossible to make this feature work via software.

camera dual shot s4

hi,
is there a way to capture photo like s4 using both the front and back camera?
I'm not aware of being able to do it as standard, but after a bit of googling you can use this

Not quite like the samsung but similar principle

Google HDR+ Camera for S9+

Any word on whether the existing Google HDR+ camera ports work on the S9+ or if they will have to be developed because of the SD845?
No need for google hdr+ as samsung implementation was just as good since they are using image stacking of 10 pictures like hdr+
HDR+ from Google blows away Samsung processing.
I'm using s9+ and U11 plus. HTC with hdr+ makes better pictures in most situations.
Not working...
Gotta say it's pretty much the same with me with the S9+ and the U11+.
The S9+ does better with White balancing and the live HDR view is nice, but detail retention is so much better on the U11+
Samsung processing is so heavy.
@cstark27 we need ya! Will gladly donate! Getting my s9+ this week! Snapdragon.
I was really interested mainly for the portrait selfie feature. I followed the below directions and was able to install the Google HDR+ camera apk on my S6 Exynos with no problems at all. It is supposed to work on all Galaxy phones, both Exynos and Snapdragon - can someone test on a Snapdragon S9+? (I get mines on Weds)

@cstark27 is quite busy these days so he may not have time for it as of now but hope he gets free soon and develops for s9/s9+ snapdragon and exynos. He even made google camera to work on second camera lens on lg g6

I have one that I was using on my note 8 but it's very buggy for the S9 Plus.
Samsung's image stacking is for noise removal.
Any one got aworking google camera with back potial mode working ?
It is well known that Google's image processing is second to none in the business. Samsung has the best hardware but Google's software is best, specially with their machine learning it only gets better
miniuser's v8.2 works if you do not change the settings, however processing is not good at all. I will see if I can message him to be a test bunny.
So miniuser 8.2 works fine if you follow this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75887172&postcount=197. However, picture looks to have a reddish tint.

Yep, the version I posted above - the selfie camera does not work at all. Really hope someone develops this for the S9+
Also wonder if the Selective Focus mode can be made available somehow on the S9+ like it is on the S9. I know Live Focus is the better option, but I have taken very good pictures with it on my S6- mostly of non-human things with nice blur even in low light environments without having to zoom. The software bokeh strangely enough sometimes seems more natural than the telephoto option.
No version of google camera mod works for s9/ s9+ exynos.
Only the HDR+ works which is very buggy and heats up the phone.
Front/Back portrait mode crashes the camera app.
I have s9 Exynos

Will the UMIDIGI F1 get the new camera APP from the UMIDIGI Power?

In the spot for the Umidigi power, at the 00:59 is possible to see a new foto application (image capture attached), with new Panorama, and Beauty modes.
I think the F1 Play has those modes too.

It doesn't. it has timelapse/video/photo/pro/bokeh/slow motion
The app on f1 play and seemingly the focus are pretty awful.

I just ordered mine. Going to get it next week. I've heard that they fixed some of the camera issues with the recent updates, I hope it doesn't suck too much. It's supposed to have a 12/48mp Samsung chip. If I don't like it I might get the S3 pro, Which has the Sony Chip.
It figures, the way my luck is I probably picked the one model that has something wrong with it. Haha.
The Umidigi power looks cool. What camera chip is it using?

As far as I'm aware, I'm on the latest 5/22 update. The focus is still driving me nuts. Seems to be stuck at wide open as opposed to focusing on where I tell it to.

I hope somebody creates a fully working gcam. Open Camera works a lot better than the stock app but doesn't have bokeh or slow etc. 3rd party apps are locked out from accessing the 2nd lense because of how Android handles stuff through the API.
Camera2.api is functional already on the F1 Play, so all we need to a modded gcam.
A new camera app arrives with the last firmware update! It has a Night mode, AI scenes detection, FaceCute, etc.

Over 4k video recording with modified Open Camera

Sorry if I'm posting this to the wrong place, but I just found out that the A8 can actually shoot video at the same resolution as pictures. I don't know if this has any side effects, but so far it does work!
OpenCamera actually removes resolutions above a certain level because a bug on the Nexus 6, but I built a custom version for the A8 (and other devices as well) that disables this feature.
I also enabled using the flash while using manual ISO and exposure, since it's also disabled because of a bug that doesn't exist on the A8.
Open Camera is not created by me, the official website for it is here!
I just modified it to do the stuff above.
So, steps to record in over 4k resolution:
Download and install the modified Open Camera attached (delete old one if installed)
Start the app and go to settings.
Enable Camera 2 API
Set the video resolution to whatever you want!
Voilla, you have a 4k capable phone camera!
Tested on AOSPExtended 6.5 on pie vendor, and HavocOS 2.7 on oreo vendor.
If for some reason this was already known then sorry, I didn't find anything regarding this.
Note: The apk is an unsigned, debug apk.
Source included in zip (because of license). It's pretty much just a few lines commented out, so I didn't bother using git.
EDIT:
IMPORTANT
As I found out (thanks tho Athaxis and Samsungoogle for bringing it up!) this "mod" doesn't properly work on OneUI based roms!
It does do something to an extent, but anything above 3264x2448 doesn't work. This is the highest you can go on OneUI.
Also (thanks to Samsungoogle for noticing this, again!) apparently the OneUI Samsung Gallery/Video viewer can't play videos created this way! You can use other video players though!
I don't know if it works on older Samsung ROMs or not, but it did work on treble, specifically AOSPExtended 6.5.
There I was able to use the full 16MP (4608x3456) resolution for videos!
Please let me know what ROM this mod works on!
Only one word: FENOMENALE (A8 2018)
Amazing job! Though I'm getting "failed to record" video at 4k resolution.
Wow this is great- however when I try to record at the hishest few resolutions, it says cannot record. It does at the 7.99mp one though. It's still much better than 1080p. Also this seems to be a Samsung issue but the Samsung gallery can't view it while Google photos can.

Thanks, and now that I tried it with an OneUI based ROM, I realized, it doesn't work with it, only the 7.99mp one. If you want even higher resolution recordings, it works better with treble gsis (at least I was able to record at the full resolution of the camera on AOSPExtended 6.5 GSI).
Thanks for the feedback tho, I wouldn't have realized this without you!
I'm adding this to the main thing.

I think it's locked at 30fps from the system or something as we don't have slo mo (which uses like 240fps) while other devices with same camera module and worse CPU (A40, A30) have it. It would be cool if there is a way to enable 60+FPS video thoush
I really hate this marketing strategy of companies limiting video capacity based on whatever parameters they use
Any phone released today has the processing power for recording 4K30 or [email protected], the Note 3 with the Ancient outdated Snapdragon 800 had it, why can't we?? Oh because we aren't using the top of the line S or Note... At least we can force 4K 30, but why not 60FPS? seems complete bs to me
Btw the Moto G6 has 60fps mode and the Moto G7 has both 4K30 and 1080/60, phones that are well behind the price level of most Samsung upper-tier A-series models

Yeah, I agree. Why should I 'upgrade' to an A40 as an example for 240fps slo motion video (doesn't have 60fps but I think that can be forced by a mod) when it's a downgrade in everything else. Same with software updates, instead of seeing specs the android companies just see what os it launched with and give it 2 or 3 more updates - for example the note Fe gets pie while s7 doesn't with same specs.
To me it's just one of Samsung's ways to get people to buy flagships as midrange devices are getting very good anyway when it comes to power.
For another example the ancient and slow iPhone 6 with 1gb ram can do 1080p 60 and 720 at 240fps. That is on the level of budget phone CPU power now, and yet it can do this?

Exactly, the Galaxy A8 is really a small step behind the S8 honestly, yeah it has some advantages but sometimes it just doesn't justify the price for most people
Also some weird things like the A3 2017 having Type C already but later the Galaxy A6 and A7 having MicroUSB, ?????????????

(btw i was using the word above when i wanted to say behind lol i feel like an idiot)
Also the Galaxy A7 is a lot bigger than the a8 (not the plus)
It's very hard today to find powerful but small phones besides the S series
Besides the A8 only the A40 is small and powerful today, but it still lacks some features of higher-end devices like IP68

Yeah I really hope next year the a51 is the small one as that would have good specs. If they brought back metal body (glass not necessary) and ip68 it would be perfect upgrade from the A8. Also 1080p60 and 4k obviously

Hi bro, and guys, anyone got any solution for our A8 camera? I think a very good smartphone, but the camera could be better, I miss 60fps, is there any possible solution to this? I saw some posts here on xda about other devices that did not have 60fps and use Exynos, but I do not understand anything to develop.
Please, let's try saving this smartphone.
Here is the link from some of the posts I found.
sorry for my bad english.
let's try to save this device

Yeah, its pretty clear Samsung's disabled it though as the A7 2018 gets it. I mean they aren't even giving us android 10 they hate this phone for some reason, just want us to upgrade to the A71 or something. Although it could be because of the fact this phone came with only 32gb storage (still regret that 64gb wasn't in my country) which would mean 60fps video would use a lot of that storage quickly

Question Any gimbal working with Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra?

I wanted to buy DJI OSMO Mobile 6, but it seems that it lacks support even for S22 Ultra, so I suppose they will never make it work with S23 Ultra.
So what else can I buy?

See, it depends on what you really need, I actually am using that currently for my s23 ultra, but only because I just needed something with stabilisation and something to hold my phone for still shots. It's sad the hardware doesn't work directly with the camera app, they have their own which is pretty lackluster, however all the features worked related to their product in their app.

Can you specify what 'all the features worked related to their product in their app' means? I thought that S23 Ultra is not supported at all?
Is it possible to shoot 4k 60fps stabilized video?
Also is it possible to shoot photo (not video) panorama handheld?
Can you please post some video on which is visible how stable the phone is?
Thanks.
You misunderstood me, the features that they advertise do work, but most of it is because it's all done with their tripod + app. That's also the problem however, since their app is pretty lackluster, yes it'll do everything they said it can, but you have no control or options, for example I can use only 1080p 60fps recording. What I'm trying to say is that it can do all the stuff they say but you're only limited to what they offer in their app (Device support, yes it'll support any phone theoretically, however the options are limited to the support of the device), which isn't a lot, and you lose out all the stuff from the stock camera app. However if you just need a tripod that stabilises then it does that regardless of any further interaction, works out of box since it all happens on the tripod itself, however you'll need the app anyway to update the firmware of the tripod. I'll show you some photos from in the app when I get home from work.

Exactly what I did, bought it from there, decided that it fulfills the basic necessities and kept it, like you said you can always return it. In terms of stabilisation itself it's actually not too bad in my opinion, however this is my first one ever so I can't say anything more besides that. And yeah I will.
