Currently I have a note 2 and I love it. I wanted to upgrade to the Note 4 but I found the G3 for a penny on amazon so I jumped on it. This will be my first non Samsung android phone so I'm a little nervous. This phone is getting great reviews (except battery life) but how does the screen compare to samoled. I'm so used to the amoled and I'm wondering if it will be a huge disappointment. Any former galaxy users have any input. I should be getting mine in the mail in a couple days.
I had a Note 2 on Verizon. The colors made by the G3 aren't as vivid as the Note by any means, though they may be more accurate. There's a setting in accessibility that will help enhance the colors of the G3, and some would argue that will start to approach the vividness of a SAMOLED screen.

Ah OK. I guess I'll have to check that out when my phone arrives. Do you regret the switch or are you happy with the go despite the screen not being as good

LOL no worries.
I had a couple of phones in between, so I'm sure the transition wasn't as dramatic as what you'll see. The other thing to keep in mind though is the added resolution in the G3's screen. It's 2560x1440 compared to the Note 2 at 1920x1080. It's CRAZY sharp. I do like the form factor WAY better on the G3 too. Same screen size, but the phone has a smaller footprint. Let me know what you think of it.

The note 2 is actually only 1280x800 so I'm in for a shock. Lol
I came from a Note 2 to my G3 and while i DO LIKE my G3, I also miss the samsung interface that i've become so accustomed to. I do like this phone, but i've honestly got it on craigslist looking to see if anyone bought a Note 4 and regrets it and wants to trade. Not having a Note phone has definitely made me realize that I used the features more than I thought.
That being said..... If I end up having to keep my G3, i certainly wouldn't be unhappy.

I made a huge mistake recently... I had both the note 2 and 3..s4 and 5... So I traded my s5 for the g3 on craigslist... All I have had is Samsung for years now. I loved the g3 but missed my s5. So long story short I went back to a s5 for 3 days.. Went back on cl and traded back to a g3. I had never noticed how much lag samsung phones have till I used the g3. Candy crush on the s5 was choppy...g3 its nice and smooth
I don't think you will be disappointed with the screen at all.. That was the biggest reason I came back to a g3... I use nova as I think touch wiz is a joke.
I came from the note 2 and loved it at the end with battery and CM11. I hate touchwiz and everything it stands for. I was so over the physical home button, I have been dying for on screen nav bar. Battery life on the g3 is awesome. Everthing about the G3 I love. Aside from the aux input quirkiness.
Yes. Note 3. Tmobile. Verizon but it wasnt connected. Then i still have my clone no.1 n3. The best clone ive ever used. To date she runs color os 2.0 and 720p screen is from another manufacturer a bit better than original. I am very impressed with what mediatek has done.

By photo studio you mean the picture editor where you can edit photo with filters, cropping, drawing on them or stuff like that or an actual studio where you can stitch pictures and video to make a sort of montage?

It was an editing thing see attached but not playing next video is ridiculous,the slideshow has been trimmed down its bare bones touchwiz i can name 20 things the note 4 has and edge hasnt.

I think it is because the note 4 is supposed to just be a beast that does everything while the s6 edge is supposed to be an entire design overhaul, going back to the basics.

they say its project zero starting from the bottom but touch wiz is nearly the same just really basic the s range was the one with all the fancy software but now its becoming iphone features.

The perfect phone doesnt exist, and criticism will always exist. No matter what Samsung do, they will always be criticized. I have swam in all the pools (almost, except for windows phones) I've been with Apple for a few years, LG, Sony, HTC, and have always came back to Samsung. They are the only company that take risks all the time. Apple took a few risk in their early smart mobile devices years, since then, they've played it safe and let other study the market for them before finally playing catchup. On the other hand, Samsung take risks all the time, every year, and they know how to admit defeat, but at least they tried. Some call it gadget spam, i call it market perfection. Who knew an almost 6 inch phone would be so popular, Samsung, who was the ONLY company that fit a projector into a phone? Samsung, who was the ONLY company to take a point and shoot camera and make it make babies with a smartphone? Samsung, who was the first company to taylor a VR headset to a smartphone, yup, Samsung. Who was the first company to fully curve a side of their phone, and if that wasnt enough, make it 2 sides. Who is the only company to have 5 smartwatches on the market? Or to have enough balls to stand up to google by using another open source os like tizen?
Remember that day the all mighty Apple showed their iphone 5 on the keynote saying that making a phone taller is perfection, but making a phone much taller and much wide is ridiculous because when you hold it with one hand you can only reach less than half of the screen realestate? Well look and them now. I used to think of Apple as the innovator, sure, they perfected the touchcreen phone and created a new category of devices with the ipad, but their innovation stops there. And thats also when other companies turned to another player to copy. Nowadays, whatever Samsung does, other will follow soon enough or die trying.
Thats why i've always came back to Samsung. Their products change so much, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst, they put to market dozens of different smartphones every year, unlike other major players like HTC or LG that make almost identical phone every year, this allows them to adjust to an ever evolving market and always stay on the top of their game. Love them or hate them, like I always say to apple fanboys, on the inside, we're all Samsung.:laugh:

I disagree with it being iPhone like. At first glance it looks like an iPhone, but if you spend longer than three seconds staring at it you will see it is a typical Samsung design. Also, the software is mostly Samsung's style. The only thing the s6 edge has in common with the iPhone is the port layout and overall performance

the phone design is fine its the software i find iphone like,theres lots of stuff thats useless like baby monitor or door bell and things like auto play next video could be kept in im annoyed its premium outside and bare bones inside but saying that its somebody on ebays pride and joy now so ill stick with note 4 until it stops working as i feel note 5 will go down the same route as the s6..

Does the note 4 in general has a problem with motion blur while scrolling through the screen? I experience this while using it now with latest RR Nougat ROM. As I only had MIUI for a few hours I can't tell if it's a ROM related issue or if it's hardware related.
I noticed it because I have a note 3 with RR and don't have that issue.
With bootloader unlocked official and installed TWRP, can I flash official MIUI marshmallow and stay with TWRP ans unlocked bootloader?? Someone has a guide for me? AS xiaomi.eu Rom is only on Nougat im afraid i will Run into Problems.

Aida64 says it's a tianma panel. Could someone check if their tianma panel is always blurry too?? It looks like LCDs when they get cold outside.... Slightly blurry when in motion.
I'm in the exact same situation as you. I'm on the latest RR, I've got a tianma panel and i notice the blur when scrolling, expecially on reddit is fun while CF Lumen is active

Yesterday I flashed xiaomi.eu ROM. But no noticable improvement.... Today flashed lineage same blurry effect. As I don't know if on original MIUI ROM this effect occurs I'm thinking about flashing stock ROM with mi flash.
I ordered a second 4x in black which should arrive in 2 till 3 weeks. Im considering to sell this one already. Note 3 pro display is totally snappy against the n4

No motion blur on my brand new Xiaomi redmi note 4 global edition nt35532 dsi panel.
Tianma panel here Note 4 global no blur whatsoever.... or should i say ghosting? It is snappy and works perfectly, currently using the last build of AEX Rom

I used an app to change the screen colour for night viewing, and it goes a darker shade when scrolling. It's mildly annoying at best but not enough to ruin your experience. I think if a person is picky enough to change phones because of one small thing they can't live with they'll never find a good phone.

Yes it's that annoying. Everytime I scroll the text becomes white and lite and looks blurry.

well, for me the display is everything. i dont care about cpu, gpu etc. when viewing content on my device is awful. so everybody is different, maybe the most of the people wont even recognise it. but i cant stand it. so i will stay with my note 3 pro. ive ordered another note 4 in black, i will check if this has the same behavior.

Too be honest i couldn't see anything... and i gotta say i'm really picky when it comes to screens too... Like i would inmediately notice ghosting if i play a game with a monitor with low refresh rate.
Come on ... As I said I recorded it with my note 3 which too has a bad camera. I know what I've seen and asked for people who has the same problem. Nothing else. If you don't have a faulty screen please feel lucky but don't question what I can see on my faulty phone.

Try as I may, with each yearly unveiling of an Apple phone, I don't see anything that would yank me away from Android. Now I can't say the same for their accessories, because those always look cool and that wide size battery pad looks great, but the phones themselves, eh. Not enough to pull me away from Android. Especially if you compare any of those shown today with the Note8. The stylus on the Note8 is simply the best.

Anyway the benchmark for iPhone x are crazy powerful, but pointless. Current android hardware is powerful enough for anything. Battery technology should be what they concentrate on from now on. And new innovations

iPhone 7 WOW'd me more than the X...easily the ugliest phone of the year lol. looks like a iPhone 3 with a ugly full screen. every other phone company who decide to go with edge to edge screens made a good looking phone. Just seems really silly to all of a sudden decide to switch. If someone was that much on the line about which phone, why even bother pre ordering/buying the Note 8. The iPhone still to this day can't do what I need, its why I buy android. I can appreciate it from a distance but until I can install apps from unknown sources it will always be a no go for me. Lets not forget the pen and everything that goes with that. I dont have to screw with itunes, I can manage my files like a COMPUTER. I need something versatile, not shiny and new. I probably wouldnt have gotten the Note 8 if I didnt get half off the price to own it.

I heard that T-Mobile is doing a BOGO offer for the iPhone X, so that comes out to be $500 per phone, which isn't bad, providing one wants to get the X. Personally, I'll stay with my Note8. I really love that thing.

I personally spent the last months between S9 and OP6T trying to escape from the Samsung supremacy but always find myself returning back to S9. The OP6T isn't bad at all but just feels unfinished when it comes to the special features which could make it more a flagship than a flagship killer.
The S10 in comparison is for me far superior in every aspect: look, feel, build quality, DISPLAY, stereo speaker, atmos, sammy features, CAMERA AND ITS APP, VR, jack, power sharing, wireless charging, shealth, ...

I do a lot of video recording and recording in hdr10 plus is a big thing to me. plus all the other parts that you already said. And the camera has a super steady mode that literally takes any jitter out of the video. I am coming from the pixel 3XL. I will miss the timely updates but I won't really miss root. The only thing I did with root was a theme with substratum and use AdAway to get rid of ads. and since Samsung already has substratum without Root is pretty much not an issue for me.

Which is why I bought the One Plus 6T but the camera on that thing SUCKS and there's no wireless charging or a headphone jack. The S10(e) has those things along with a flat display. Plus, it's easier to hold in the hand than my Note 9.

TBH I might skip the N10 if it doesn't have the 5G radio in it ... and wait for the N105G
S6 to the S10 for me, going to be a massive upgrade!

Pretty much the same here but I went from the Note 9 to Pixel 3XL and now on to the 10+. I won't miss root at all and AdHell3 is great for ads and disabling any unwanted apps.

Not me. I was really close to pulling the trigger but one thing stopped me from doing it: the slow charge on s10. I need super charge feature of the Huawei cause i really depend on it. Otherwise 2 very excellent phones indeed. And this is coming from someone who had the note 9 before the mate.
Pre-ordered the S8+ two years ago, now I've got the S10+ coming today. Seems every 2 years Samsung makes a lot of improvements to their phones. S3-S4, S5-S6, S7-S8, and now the S9-S10. At least it's a predictable trend.
