Can't add anything to personal dictionary (Gboard) - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

As stated in the title I can't add anything to my personal dictionary in Gboards.
Am I the only one with that problem?
Anyone got a fix? If not how can I report it?
Simon

I have the same issue. Still didn't find any solution.

Why dont you guys simply use SwiftKey? Its so much better. (IMHO)

Nope you're not the only one. I've had it ever since I got the phone around the release date. It's a pity though. However there are apps like user dictionary manager that can somehow help wth the problem but it's not the same still as you have to add your words manually and not double tapping on them while texting to add them into user dictionary - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.usr.dict.mgr
Nope SwiftKey is far from gboard so not an option.

Thanks, dictionary manager works like a charm!

No worries. Like a charm maybe but not as intuitive as when you could only double check tap the word while typing on gboard ?. Maybe someone will fix it one day.

I hoping there is some SMS software that allows the SPELL input with a basic word suggestion/dictionary (As with the Universal etc) anyone have any ideas ?
I would like to know that too.
The dialpad with T9 doesn't allow to add words to the dictionary

That's odd...my StarTrek remembers not even words, but whole sentenses, smileys and all...and I can choose whenever I want a new word...

Why not to use T9?
FlexMail 2007 Is the really good.
The best sms/email replacement prog for a wm smartphone is definately FlexMail 07
Well... if this dosen't have what your looking or... I doubt anything else will.
What is really cool that during the install it asks if you want flex to be the default application to handle email/sms.

Default input abc instead of xT9 cab fix

Hi,
We've been having the same problem on disabling XT9 and there were no solutions. Good thing I found this. And few people including me tried it and it really really works! so, i share this with you all.. Cheers!
Yeeeaaaahhh
It Realy Works!
I Love You For That...
Thank You So Much
Rename your thread. This could be misleading. This does NOT disable xT9. It only changes the default input method to abc (which is much better for most of us non-english users).
Rename it to something like:
Default input abc instead of xT9 cab fix
there... I changed it heheh... Thanks But I also found out that somebody knew about this earlier. Too bad I didn't read the post.
But now your thread title is more descriptive and will definitely get more hits on search query results.
guys..is it working for WM 6.1?

Same here. I want permanent xt9, not ABC.
Here's another kick for the same request. Does anybody know how to switch to xt9 permanently? I've done a lot of searching but can't seem to find a solution. Much appreciated!
Thanksssssss !
So happy found this app, simply great ! Thanks

I found out how to set xT9 as the default (over ABC):
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME
-> set CarrierDefaultTextMode to 1 (the .CAB in this thread sets it to 0).
Now my keypad switches to T9 automatically when it pops up!
how about forcing qwerty mode always on, instead . is it possible?
i'm trying to get a touch dual (uk t-mobile latest stock rom) to default to xt9 rather than abc.
I've tried the CarrierDefaultTextMode fix mentioned below (adding the key as a Dword as it didnt already exist) but no change, it still defaults to abc when starting a new sms message or anything.
Before recently going back to t-mobile for a repair and them flashing it with the latest rom it defaulted to xt9 and the owner wants it to behave as it did.
Anyone got any other ideas?

PS Its running wm6.1 btw.

Letter Recognizer???

I am really disappointed that HTC has removed the letter recognizer in Touch2. As it is now i have to use qwerty or cell keyboard and its really frustrating.
What the hell was the HTC development team thinking when they descided to cripple the users like this ...
I like the device but if i would have known this in advance ...
Does anyone know how to get letter recognizer ?
I found a solution for it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4882992&postcount=34.
It worked great for me and I hope it helps.
Bye
Caes

But... there must be a way to change btw handwriting and keyboard (by default) without a soft reset
Patience...
you're welcome
I can live with it, because I rarely use the keyboard. But you're right it would be great if it would be possible (then I don't need a reset after my boyfriend played with my mobile phone.... )

ha ha, you can either change your boyfriend or try out the fix at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5023391&postcount=67
But be warned it is not a 100% solution because sometimes the Letter Recognizer still won't work well.
Cheers

caessa, if you think that the solution provided by NothingBetterToDo about your boyfriend is a little bit "radical" I suggest you to install the fantastic app "QuickMenu" in the TaskBar HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340352. It has an option about "keyboard" and there you change your Input mode WITHOUT any SOFT RESET.
Enjoy it!

Xposed Module: Keyboard Suggestions Blacklist

Hi folks,
This is a little module that started out as a PoC but turned into something that I find useful. I use swiping on the Google Keyboard and found that sometimes it would detect words or offer suggestions that I would never type. I had previously used Swype and so not being able to remove suggested words drove me crazy.
This Xposed module adds blacklisting to the Google Keyboard.
Features:
Long-press on suggested words from the keyboard interface
Add words to the blacklist through the module itself
The project is open source, you can view it on GitHub.
I'd prefer bugs/feature requests to go into the GitHub tracker, but if all else fails you can get in touch with me through XDA for support/bugs/feature requests.
There's also a Reddit thread if you're into that.

Found this the same day i was trying to delete words..There is no other way really? I was swyping wrong words everytime
Thanks for you module. Some words still there, and i cant delete by long-press, but its really better now.
Can you explain the problems you're having a little more detailed? When you long-press, you should get a Toast message saying that the word was added. Are you seeing that?
It currently doesn't delete the word that was entered though. Is that what you mean?
What phone/ROM are you on?

Wait a minute... this is suposed to work with N4 only? I tought it was working but i dont think so. all words i black-listed still showing in my suggestions. My way of black-listing was adding through the app itself.
I dont see any toast message when i long-press a suggested word.
Im running Omnirom 4.3 in my S-Advance.
It should work with other phones and Roms, but hooking methods by name and signature is iffy. It could be that a particular ROM has changed the package or class name. It's hard to say.
At this point, I personally have only tried on vanilla 4.4 on a Nexus 4, but I know at least one person has it working fine on Note 2 or 3.
I'll have to add some error handling logic, in the case that something unexpected is encountered. I'll log some bugs on the GitHub that you can track.

Can this work with the android keyboard, not the playstore Google one? At the moment i doesn't appear to work and I could do with removing these American spellings from my keyboard.

I'd like to build in support for multiple keyboards soon. I am working now to fix it for the Google Keyboard first, then I'll look at the Android one.
I have it working again with the latest Google Keyboard. I refactored the code some so in theory it should be a little easier to add support for other versions of the keyboards. I should have a new build up before Monday.

Canned SMS Replies - Hangouts

I use Hangouts, and I like to use the pre-composed replies while at work (especially in a meeting), where I can't do a verbal reply. Does anyone know of a way to customize those replies or add new replies? I didn't find anything specifically in Hangouts regarding that.
This is another one of those things where I don't know if it's a Wear thing, a Hangout thing, or what.
