So yeah been messing about with my phone and testing a few things and I have come to the conclusion that with it off my battery lasts longer than what it does with it on. Who would of thought lol
Gonna try to disable it and test, since it appeared in miui 10 i enabled it and, update after update i've been noticed worse battery life, so yeah, i'm gonna test it and see how it goes.

Only half a battery charge in and I'm already seeing improvement
I disabled yesterday and I really felt the difference today.
Thank you!
Wow, good finding.
Gonna test soon.
Gonna try it out as well, cuz latelly I've been felling like it doesnt last as long as it used to. Thanks for sharing the info

Thanks for the information. I will try it out and report here later.
I've adaptive battery and on miui 10 (9.3.1) battery is life is pretty good
I am not a poco user, have pixel 3. The adaptive battery is meant to learn your pattern of using the phone and improve battery using that data. So if initially the battery life is bad, it's not a problem. I would suggest to keep it on and see after a week or so the battery life increases drastically.
I was also getting like only 8-9 hours total time on both my new and RMAd pixel 3 at the beginning. Now I charge my battery once in 2 days.
Testing...
Hurmm, i tried disabling it
The battery standby seems to be much better than enabling before it..
Will post the update after test it for a while
well,in my case its different...the screen on time is the same while the standby drain is a bit higher with this feature disabled!.
on miuipro 9.1.24 (stock kernel).
Some also said that disabling MIUI optimization in Developer Options and Non-interactive mode in Battery and Performance settings help alleviate the active and idle drain problems. I can't link the thread, I tried it and felt some changes.
Adaptive Battery
How to turn it off in MiUI 11?
Hey what did you conclude then

I am currently running debloated stock .305.
I am not overwhelmed by the battery performance. my z3c with slim rom was much better.
So i wonder if i could flash another kernel and improve the battery performance.
So if you guys have some experiences that they will share i would appreciate it.
thanks in advance for any reply.

I'm on the xpower rom and it's weird: during 8h of sleep it only lost 1% of battery, after 10 minutes of browsing and whatsapp it lost 10% of battery. Unacceptable, "screen" is taking most of the battery as there doesn't seem to be any other battery intense app.
Does anyone have any idea?
Sounds like you have 10% drain in 8 hours with light use. That's 1.2% per hour. I think that's pretty usual... And yes, screen should be the most demanding component unless you don't really use the phone. Try lowering the brightness, the effect is almost exponential

Not really, I have 1% over night (which is great) but then 10% in 10 minutes as soon as I start using it (just browsing the net).
I would assume it's just not getting the levels right just after sleep, in fact you've lost 8% and another 2 while using it.

you think so? I rebooted it several times and it would always show the same %, only to drop drastically as soon as I used it. It's really weird to see the battery going down while using it for just a couple of minutes.
Battery % is always a guess.
It would be much better to actually use the device for a few days and then deduce how much battery time you get according to your own usage.
Im using XPower as well and notice the same issue. Battery can last forever screen off but then drains quickly when on.

Well compare to the latest stock firmware the battery seems to be night and day. I can easily get two days with light use. The battery drain on stock seemed to just be constant.
My battery life after the AW 2.0 update has not been the best. I've been wondering if anyone else has had this issue and figured out how to solve it.

Haven't had a lot of time to test battery life but my issue now is that my watch doesn't charge above 75%, anyone else experiencing this?
Give it some time, the first day or two after the update my battery was terrible, but it leveled out after. I've lost 9 percent in the last 6 hours
It's still horrible here after over a week. Did it improve with anyone's watch? I'm seriously considering downgrading back to AW 1.0
Have you done a factory reset since the update? If not do one.
Then run the battery down till it shuts off and then charge it back up full this will reset the battery stats.
My battery lasted only for ~12h after AW2. Only solution now for me is to turn off ambient display ("always on" option), now I need to charge only every other day with consumption ~40% in 24h.
Battery life is still not happening. Any new updates?
Hi.
My battery life, for about a week after the aw2 update, is still not happening. I'm only getting about 12 to 14 hours where before I was almost getting 2 days. That's with ambient and tilt settings on. Never had a problem before the update. And I'd hate to start turning things off just to get better battery life.
Does anyone have an update on how to fix this and what's going on?
Thanks.
Disable tilt setting very better but still not amazing....
or disable ambiant.

I did disable both of them. The battery is a little better, but nothing like before the update.
I use with ambiant and Asus face, not impressive but about 4% at 4.5% by hour for my usage. So can be used for a long day with 16-20H. Before I can have 3.5% or little better (but not always) so not huge difference.

Ok. With Always On turned off and Tilt left on and using Facer for a watch face ive gotten 31 hours with 20 percent left.
Now, I'm starting to feel happy again! I'm gonna try the same settings but switch watch face to a zw2 face and see what happens.

Okay. Same setting but with a zw2 face instead of Facer, I've gone a day and a half.
Not bad.
Battery life on mine has been crap since 2.0. ambient screen is off, WiFi off and I'm lucky if it last 2 days. But the charger connection has become complete crap too. Had to order another charging cable... Which is made in China since I can't find actual Asus brand ones for sell anywhere. Takes 10 minutes and lots of attempts to get it to register the charger is connected. Even clean all the prongs to

Hy,
Mine was also very bad battery life after updating to androidwear2,0.
I downgraded back to AW1.5, and then after this, i did my update to 2,0.
Now my battery is even better then on 1.5.
I don't know why, but this method work for me.

If battery is your only problem... root your AW2 with TWRP flashed as recovery and just flash Magisk v14.0. Then load https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sssemil.advancedsettings and check your Performance settings. Set "Governor" to Ondemand and "Min Frequency" to 600000. Quite a difference that way.
EDIT: Btw, you have to start the app once then the root permission thing shows up sooner or later, but no way to allow it that way (AW is no full Android and you can see it there for example...) then hop over to Magisk app and under Superuser allow root forever. Then the app works.

Hi
How is the battery life and performance on oreo compared to nougat on tab s3? I'm worried that the oreo update will decrease battery life and performance, so I haven't updated it yet. I read many posts about the oreo update messing up the battery life of Samsung s8 phones, so I'm very sceptical about the oreo update.
Thank you in advance!
In my opinion, the battery consumption is far more worse, than I've expected.
But that's no big news, because it is/was the same with the nougat/oreo update on the galaxy s9.
Got the v8.0.0 April 1 2018 update yesterday. So far zero issues.

But is it significantly worse than with nougat as the os on the tab s3.
A couple of days in and battery life seems to be a lot better than with the previous OS version. I find I don't have to plug in again until well past lunch time where as before I was plugging in at lunch time. So better battery life and the UI is feeling a little crisper and faster.
Sorry long time irregular user here but on my US wifi only S3 9.7 if that's what we're talking about here, the battery usage is waaay worse than it was before the update 2 days ago which I thought previously was excellent. I don't buy tablets to tweak them but it seems like I have to do something, I did try a list of tips I think I found here when I got the device in December I'll try to dig up, assuming that doesn't work I'll be in here asking noobishly how to roll it back.
I did not do a factory reset after the upgrade from nougat to oreo.... It's still lagging.
I have done nothing after the upgrade and continue to have superior battery life than before.

Negative. Did the upgrade and restarted the tablet. I don't do factory resets.
Oreo improved my s3's speed, minimal lag now. The battery does appear to have taken a small hit tho.
Mines turned into a lag fest and the battery is shocking. Its made a top of the range tablet into a dog.
Upgraded to oreo yesterday (Verizon U.S.). No reset here. Battery life seems worse. 10% drained sitting on my desk for 5 hrs doing nothing, mobile data turned off, wifi 'never' on during sleep.
Battery drain is fine for me. Looks better than before.. Stock WiFi not Verizon.
Update: After a few days of battery drain, things seem to have stabilized now. I seem to remember seeing something in Battery settings stating 'determining battery usage' or something similar. So maybe it takes some time to get straight, but all seems normal now.
That said, why was Oreo even released? I see no serious added features or performance gains. Only a few surface changes. But hey, at least we now have numbered badges. Big deal.
How are people finding this huge 5000mah battery?
In all honesty, I was expecting a little better performance. Perhaps it's still too early to tell but I'm on my 3rd battery cycle, have "balanced" battery mode active, power saving feature applied to most apps other than essentials, don't have Facebook installed etc. Have rooted and also Universal Doze for magisk installed.
I'm currently on 10% with 5hr30min SOT. Granted, I have been listening to Spotify today but over WiFi.
Just doesn't seem to be blowing me away and not feeling like my battery is 25% bigger than my previous Xperia 1 ii, with the exact same setup/general usage. If anything feels the same size, maybe even less?!
Used BetterBatteryStats and nothing seems out of place there.
Will continue to monitor. Still extremely happy with this phone.
Hmm so quick update, I had Dual WiFi (blend of 2g/5ghz network) enabled previously however today it's now disabled.
I'm currently on 45 mins SOT and still at 97% battery!!
Anyone else any experience with this? I haven't changed any apps but seems this setting may have been the cause of high drain for me....
Will continue to monitor....
My battery life has been pretty good after a few cycles
Not bad. I keep it on mobile data most of the time. And i charge it only to 90% with a 500mAh charger. And i do have Facebook app, a Garmin smart watch and many synced accounts that run in the background
Not bad at all IMO. Received the phone today and it was at around 40 percent. Haven't charged yet. Refresh rate is on auto.

Overall, yeah I'm very happy with this phone.
Comparing the two:
- the speakers were better on the Xperia, front facing always wins as avoids you accidentally covering the bottom firing one up on the Zenfone plus the top earpiece one isn't great. But, it's still good enough and they sound decent to keep me happy
- the less wider feel on the Xperia was also very nice but I really don't mind the feel of the zenfonr
- the camera on the Xperia was very good, but I just didn't feel like I was amazed by the point and click usage. Which I know it was really aimed for Pro users, but still....
- for the Zenfone I love the feel of it. A very fast phone, great camera, I'm a big fan of the flip camera, very good selfies (more concerned about video calls as the Xperia has a horrible smoothening effect which they didn't fix)
-the led on the Xperia was very nice whereas there's not as many colours on the Zenfone
Ultimately one of the biggest factors for me is rom and gcam development. It was virtually non existent for the Xperia but I enjoy it too much to sacrifice it. Already there is a decent gcam for zenfone and havoc & omnirom are being worked on
So I guess it boils down to what matters the most to you. Both very good options to be honest!
My first cycle from 100% down to 0% (won't be doing this often). Auto refresh, mainly on wifi (95%), AOD off, balanced profile. Not bad > 7 hour SOT.
Edit: don't know why PNG screenies aren't working with attachments :/

Auto refresh rate as I said.
I'm gonna try turning wifi off and see how long the SOT is from 100%-0% using just 4G (5G is off as my carrier doesn't support it).
Might try forcing 90Hz on a separate occasion too.
5 hr 53 min SOT ON dual sim 4G only.
battery life is good. not as good as zen 6. However its a all day phone. Charges really fast. Fastest charge so far.
90Hz is noticeable.. Keep your NFC , Bluetooth and especially Location off to save allot more battery..
Overal the phone is a winner .. only major peoblem.. I cant seem find ANY info to get 4g or even 5g here in USA> I thin this phone is NOT compatible for USA cell bands.. I even brought it to att store and they couldnt ge it to work past 3g.
This battery could be better, Asus need optimize better the kernel. I have bad performance on game Genshin impact (drop frames) and bad standby, 6h it goes 3,5%, on my motorola edge plus it goes 1% with the same condition.
I had pretty bad standby at first but then I disabled all battery optimizations and got great standby. I think "Optiflex" was the cause of it. Just turn it off.

From using about 1% per hour to about 2% in 8 hours sleep. Check your APN also, I've seen some mention the phone does not use the right one automatically.
Going from the Zenfone 6 to this Zenfone 7, there is certainly a slight drop in battery endurance. The better chipset/hardware etc I don't feel explains the difference but it won't put me off the phone.
Just wish phone batteries would massively improve!
Hey folks, see if this is the right forum to post this.
Like some other people on here and on reddit the latest Android 11 update C.57 caused a lot more battery drain on my device.
Before on A.46 my over night drain was about 2% which is good I think with Wifi on.
With Coloros 11 it can be over 10% drain over the course of 6-8 hours which is far more.
I have tried gather info from my phone which app is draining but it looks rather normal.
Even tried the adb command to force the phone get the phone to do the battery optimazation manually without luck, seems I have dont have the permission to make suchs commands through ADB with USB-debugging mode enabled..
However this morning I found in Settings>Battery>More Battery Settings>Optimize Battery Use
The whole list on every app there was set to "Always ask" and not "Optimize Automatically"
Now I changed every app to Optimize Automatically and will see how this affects the current drain.
I read somewhere that to the phone to get to this "state of battery optimazation" you need to have the phone in the right state to execute that which was Battery Full on Charger in idle mode not moving for a few hours.
So I thought if the battery optimazation settings where set to "always ask" (which it never did) this state maybe never happens?
Anyways feel free to share your battery settings and what Battery standby drains you guys got because I have been going a little nuts over this issue haha.
I wouldn't bother changing the battery optimisation settings, they seem to reset themselves.
I wasn't getting great battery life so finally did a factory reset. After a week the battery settled down and is now ok, probably around 5.5 hours screen time a day at qhd 120hz with always on display in from 8am to 11pm. I don't really check battery drain overnight, I will check it and report back.

Yes I checked them again now after you mentioned it and they do seem to reset. However now my phone seems to work how it should, currently 3 hour screen on and 64% battery left. Wifi at home all day. Also the standy drain is night and day better now. Maybe this was a bug in Android 11 that kept it from optimize the apps?
I have adaptive on both refresh and resolution and same Always on time settings as you.

Glad it's working better now. I do find the battery a bit inconsistent, some days it's great and others it goes down quickly. I've turned location off now as dont need it that much, I lost 3% overnight which seems good to me.
I really don't understand how you guys get such a low battery drain overnight.
On ColorOS 7 I had 10-12% drain overnight.
On ColorOS 11 it stayed the same. I have reset my phone, now it's about 7-8%.
This is with night optimization on in the settings. 5G disabled.
I always was able to get that 3% on my older OP 7 Pro. Even on my Realme X2 Pro, which had the same OS!
Also, my SOT is not that good. On mixed data/wifi I only usually get 3.5hrs SOT. After the reset its 4hrs now.
With 5G on it's unusable, even with good coverage here. (AccuBattery: 6hrs SOT, 57hrs standby, just very bad)
It's nice to have Dual SIM now with Singapore EX, but I cant use it, my battery just can't handle that.
I kept this phone just because the rest is awesome, but the battery is such a letdown.
I thought it was a SD865 problem, but I also had the Mi 10 and Poco F2 Pro as a secondary device without any drain problems.

Yes I agree the battery drain is very weird with this OS.
Have you tried changing the settings in the battery optimize section? I turned on optimize automatically and then charged my phone full and let it sit for a while with charger plugged.
Try this and see if it gets better.
Its weird that the settings change after a while tho.
Just recently managed to use the phone and have to confirm ColorOS 11 is killing battery overnight, I have this for few weeks now so should be all optimised, yet still overnight is around 25-30% battery gone, my previous mate 20 pro was taking maybe 2-3% overnight so is massive hit. No notification is allowed, do not disturb on with wifi and mobile off, really weird is behave like something in the background was still on.
mine only about few percent but my battery life sucks at 4-5 hour ish
