Hello switching to this device..I want to switch to the gobal rom should I wait till my bootloader is unlocked first?
Probably. Check in Mi Tool first, if there is a flash without unlocking

Have you signed up for unlocking bootloader? If you have DO NO SWITCH!! If you logout, factory reset, swap to stable/beta/global your device factory resets and then your account is no longer eligible to unlock device. You then have to create a new miui account and start the wait all over again. I know because I went from global stable to global beta a week after I got device. When I reached the end of the wait period I found out that I screwed up and it ended up being over a month (two waiting periods) to unlock and move to miuipro (my favorite custom miui).

I haven't signed up yet...im on the latest global stable..I'm currently download the pie beta to switch to that before I sign up..
Can I switch from stable to the beta through the updater or do I need need to use the computer
Until you are unlocked you can only use updater app. The pie global beta will install with app and I suggest pie over oreo.
I'm trying to get the pie beta but read that I have to be on the oreo beta first but can't find a link so can anyone link me to the oero beta thanks..

You will need to create a new miui account then apply to unlock with new account. Old account will no longer be able to unlock your device. So you have to use new account until you unlock.

Excuse a noob but when I go to the Rom download links there are lots of different ones Aries,Gemini,Dior etc. I am assuming these are for different devices but how do I know which is for the mi5? I have seen Gemini mentioned before but I don't know.
Thanks

When they say "Installation from China ROM Methods" do they mean that people on Global ROM with unlocked BL can't install the ROM? I am wondering why it should matter and if it doesn't then why they specified China ROM.
Can someone shed light on this please?
Also between the Global ROM and this one why should anybody prefer this? Global ROM also doesn't seem to have any (much) bloatware.
They removed the locked bootloader version of the EU rom. This was the rom I unlocked my bootloader on.

You unlocked your bootloader on the EU rom?
Yeah there was a EU rom that could be flashed with locked bootloader but it was taken down from the EU site and I never kept it- well I think I deleted it I still have an EU rom on my laptop but cant tell you if its the same one.
But I never flashed a chinese dev rom before unlocking!!.
Search the EU site you will see mutterings of it.

It's based on Chinese Stable or Chinese Beta Versions. You can choose which one you want.
Excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference between the eu roms version 6.5.x.x and the 7.3.x.x? Is it the lack of weekly updates? One stable and the other beta? Which one is better?

The '6' series is the developer and the '7' series is the stable, both get OTA once a month, though the developer version gets updated weekly and you can download it manually and update through the Updater app.

Hey everyone, tomorrow I got notification to install a new update for Global Stable Rom (v8.2.5.0.MCFMIDL). The update is rather small (21M) and with on descriptive change log(only says 'Fixed Bugs') . Is it safe to install MIUI updates on top of my rooted phone with TWRP and exposed installed. I installed all previous updates via fastboot method, but I really don't wanna go through all the trouble for such small incremental update.
If someone has tried it please do share your experience.
Regards.
Has anyone installed this update?

It's a Beta Stable version for random users.
Bad choice by Xiaomi to propose to upgrade to guinea pig users in the stable branch.

I just got an update to the November security patch for my Mi 9. Nothing much has changed visually from the previous version just a security patch
I think it rolled out pretty quick tbh.
Country: UK
I just got it in France, maybe there are a few bugs fixed, a security update is normally around 240 Mb as I know
got the notification last night, but now it's gone )
Installed manually.
Everything looks OK for now and I personally ddin't see any kind of change except android patch but again we will see during time, maybe is something which one can see so quickly.
EDIT
Now here is what I have noticed so far.
- Clicking on Settings->Security status->Google Play system update I got offer to update Security patch level to 1 October 2019.
- Under display fingerprint sensor works really, really quick, i would say instantly.
- Anti-flicker mode now works without any issue (turning on this option I would get rhythmic backlight change, pattern was about two times in one second from high to low).
- Entering *#*#4636#*#* in dialer and after that Phone information1 or Phone information2 there is new option present "Enable DSDS" and it's activated at me (I have two SIM's).
since the update i have a bootloop with the error gerätesuche wurde unerwartet beendet ( Device search ended unexpectedly )

I have a Mi 10 (codename umi) currently on MIUI 12 Global Stable v12.5.8.0(RJBEUXM). I've seen the MIUI 13 update available via Fastboot or Recovery modes for it but idk how to do it that way. Thx much, I wasn't aware of that. I finally received the OTA update & am now on 13.0.4.0(SJBEUXM)
The MIUI 13.0.4.0 SJBMIX has been out for a couple of days now.
I'm using it with magisk and adaway and it's working fine, but missing out on thousands off adds makes me feel sad, because now I don't even know wether I don't want the products I didn't even know I didn't want. Does that even count as living at all?
Hi guys, I can't update to MIUI 14 for some reason, so I updated my phone to 13.0.13.0 SLFEUXM via update from package on the phone a while ago and when I try to update with same method on the newest MIUI14 for this region it just does not work, I've attached a picture from some site where people are having the same issue. What should I do? Should I unlock the phone and install with fastboot or?
I appreciate all answers in advance..

Yep,wait for what is offered (sometimes it never happens).
I thought that I simply had not received the update.
I give up; I gave Xiaomi a chance to buy this phone, and it can't be until the Poco X3 Pro has already received the update.
