Custom Resolution Android x86 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I installed android x86 on an old laptop to run a game. Everything is working correctly and no issues so far. Now I’m trying to run one app that only works in cellphone resolution (720x1280). Tried to change resolution with apps from playstore, resolution changed but app stoped. Tried to change resolution with terminal ( wm size 720x1280 ), resolution changed but app still stops. Then i finally remembered to edit build.prop and added (debug.drm.mode.force=720x1280) to build.prop and the app started to work, but now the resolution doesn’t fit in display, causing the image to flip and stretch in screen. Now that I’m sure that it’s a resolution problem to use the app, is there any alternatives to display things proportionally on screen without flipping all the system and apps?
Thanks and sorry for the big text

[Q] change tablets resolution

I have a Tomtec excellent 8 inch tablet with screen resolution of 800x600. After some playing i saw that many games dont work very well at this resolution. sometimes i can play a game and some of the side is missing. very annoying . Dont know if its possible but might it be possible for some games to change my resolution?
If it's rooted, then you can change the dpi by using this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.beansoft.lcd_density_changer&hl=en.
oke looks great. I have not yet rooted it but was thinking about doing that soon so im going to try this for sure
havent tried all the density change apps there are around, but it dont seem to work with the ones i tried. I cant stretch my ratio of my screen so it doesnt help.
Need an app that can make a stretch 480:800 to a 4:3 screen with 600:800

[Q] How to change resoution but not density?

Hi, all!
I have JXD s7100B and when I changed custom bootscreen (only the last one. I can't find others to change them ), because there was a circle on the boot image, I've noticed that the image is deformed - when turned to lanscape mode it is "squished" verticaly. After that I've noticed the same with the icons on the launcher - however I rotate the screen shorter side is squished. I have an idea that maybe display is not WVGA (800x480pix) like it's set (and sold) but a WVGA NTSC (854x480) so I would like to change 800 to 854 somehow but leave 480 and dpi. I've searched forum and net and 90% of posts are changing dpi with LCD Resolution app or by editing build.prop but nothing I found says anyting about what I want to do. I found some resolutions in /system/bin/set_display_mode.sh but I've decided to ask first if someone knows what I should do. Can you help me? Can I change one dimension with some app or by editing some file?

[Q] Change screen resolution on app launch (and change back on exit)

I am attempting to play a very old game that only works on a very particular set of screen resolutions on my modern Android devices. The game does not scale at all and is completely unplayable without changing the resolution to one that is supported (the only one I can get to work correctly is 320x480) I have gotten this game to work using an app called NOMone Resolution Changer from the Play Store, but it is a pain to change the resolution (really screwing up the UI), launching the app, then getting out of it when I want to quit, and changing the resolution back. What I am wondering is if there is some way to make it so that when I launch the app, it will change the resolution, and then launch the app, and when I close the app, it will change it back. I am quite skilled with Android and Linux so I am willing to try anything. My device is rooted running KitKat.

[Q] Faking display resolution for Cocktail Flow

Hey there,
Cocktail Flow is probably the one and only good looking cocktail app for tablets out there. However, its developer really hardcoded the resolution to 1280x720 which means it cannot be used on any newer tablet (like a Nexus 7, see screenshot). And since the developer abandoned the project, this app is probably gone forever.
Is there are way to reduce the resolution of tablets (or faking a lower one) such that the app is stretched and can be used again?
I've already tried Xposed + App Settings, but changing the DPI doesn't help, since the developer is not using dp...

Physical (capacitive) buttons not working after change resolution

Hi,
My device is ASUS ZD551KL running android M, stock rom, not rooted.
It display resolution native is 1920x1080, and 480dpi. With this resolution playing game a bit heavy, so i try to change display resolution and dpi. I did that using adb shell command to make resolution 1280x720 and 320dpi.
The problem is the physical (capacitive) buttons not working when i change the resolution (with dpi changed it works fine). So, anyone can help to get around this problem? With non rooted solution preferably.
Thx.
