Isn't Camera 2 API already unlocked?
I don't have S10 yet but my S7E do support the api.

Didn't Samsung already announce at their launch event that they'll be opening up their camera API to 3rd party developers?

To what end?

So 3rd party app developers can optimise their applications to work better with the cameras on their devices?

It's very limited, not level3
And some are unaccessible
It's very very bad
And you can't access third camera id on Samsung devices after pie upgrade (note9, s9). Only S10 (limited access)

And now they wanted to kill it...

Samsung has released details of its Premium Suite upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, which brings features previously exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to the smaller high-performance Android handset.
Arriving as part of an upgrade to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the Galaxy S3 Premium Suite offers upgrades not found in non-Samsung Android phones - the better for the company to fight the popularity of Google's LG-manufactured Nexus 4 device. Features found in the Premium Suite include a system for predicting future actions called Page Buddy - plug in headphones and have the music player start automatically, for example - and a contextual menu which places your most frequently used options closer to the top.
Other upgrades over a stock Android handset include a contextual tagging system which extends the geo-location feature of the Android camera app with the ability to add details on the date, location and even the weather, and a multi-window system that allows two applications to be opened side-by-side - a great use of the Galaxy S3's high-resolution display. Finally, the system gets an upgrade to the in-built browser to make text size easily customisable and page sharing faster, a new Auto Share Shot mode for the camera that allows pictures to be quickly transferred to devices supporting S-Beam or other near-field communication (NFC) capabilities, and a Facebook news ticker for the lock-screen.
These aren't all of the features promised in the Samsung Galaxy S3 Premium Suite, however: Samsung is teasing the details out piece by piece, posting a video detailing what it claims is around half the facilities available as part of the upgrade. Information on the other features, likely to include the smart-rotation and customisable notification features of Samsung's Galaxy Note II, is due to be released some time next week.
As the update rolls out, it will be made available to all Samsung Galaxy S3 owners free of charge, either as an over-the-air update or using Samsung's own KIES updating software.:good:

Probably the last major update I guess, when the S4 is released that will be the apple of Samsungs eye.

Can't you use faceID for banking authentication?

I was under the impression that on Android pie Google would allow all biometrics as options to login to apps instead of fingerprint only.
Is anyone successful with this?
I'm guessing no as face recognition isn't very secure.
Having said that I use the fingerprint sensor.

This is not the standard face recognition that most android phones use. This is with a dot projector and infrared light like the iPhone X models
I think it requires 3rd party developers to implement. Can't really see this happening as only a few phones have the 3d face scanning built in. I mean I think even Huawei doesn't have any apps that uses this technology i.e vault or secure notes.

I haven't tried my banking app yet but google pay uses it.
It is also just as secure as fingerprint and as secure as iphone.

It was just my understanding that Google implemented it for Pie the same way as for iOS. The apps for ios is just coded for biometric. No need to specify if it should be faceID or an older touchid phone.
So the apps should just ask for biometric authentication and therefor it should use whatever I has active.
The app developer would need to code it for FaceID, both my banking apps have settings within the app to use fingerprint login, there would be a setting required to provide faceID login likewise. The same also applies to my phone carriers usage meter, they have only just modified it for fingerprint login.

There is currently no Android standard for face unlock so using it as an identification for banking apps or making payments would be very insecure. Different Android phones currently use different methods to implement face unlock and some of those methods can be bypassed with a photograph.

Gesture Navigation and Raw support (SONY's Reply to my mail)

Hello guys, after of 6-7 months of using XZ1 today I sent an Email to Sony regarding the Raw Support of our Xperia and asking about the Gesture Navigation which was not included in the Pie Update.
Here is what I got as an answer:
Thank you for contacting Xperia Support by Sony.
We would like to inform you that our company’s primary purpose is to provide ever improving services and always acts in our customers’ best interest. We would like to thank you for your remarks and inform you that your email has already been forwarded to the appropriate department.
With regards to your inquiry, we would like to inform you that Android 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 7.0, 7.1, 8.0 and 9.0 support camera features via android.hardware.camera2, and Google defines three modes for the new camera features:
-Legacy mode (no support RAW capture)
-Limited mode (optional capability for RAW capture)
-Full mode (optional capability for RAW capture).
Currently, Xperia devices support the Legacy mode, which incorporates features and functionality in addition to our already renowned camera experience. We are always monitoring our customers' expectations, and as for taking photos in RAW format we will consider this for the future.
We currently have not included gesture navigation in Android Pie, and cannot comment on future plans to add it. However, we will continue to listen to customer feedback and endeavor to evolve Xperia smartphones based on their needs.
We would also like to thank you for being interested in Xperia products and to inform you that we are always at your disposal for any further assistance.
"We will continue to listen" and they never do. LOL.

what an ironic answer is that difficult to import a raw support?

They just dont care about user feedback. Easy.
Employees just follows the guideline from the CIO. That's the problem.
lets sign a petition to add RAW support to xperia devices hopefully then we will get Google Cam to work
Gesture navigation works!!!!
Guys it has been achieved through ADB
https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr.../pie-xperia-10-10-plus-launcher-t3905699/amp/
But you have to use the XPERIA 10 launcher port or else the stock launcher will crash if you try going to recents menu.

Camera2 api and Xperia Z2 ?

So I learned that there is something called Camera2 API, which as far as I understand, allows third party apps to take full advantage of camera on your android phone.
There are 4 levels, the higher the level, the more features and more support you have.
Sadly, Xperia Z2 has no support for Camera2 API, when I install Camera2 API Probe App, it tells me that Hardware support level is "Legacy" which means no support for Camera2 API.
I was wondering, is this set in stone or can it be changed ?
Maybe by rooting or something, not sure.
Hence why I am asking here, do you know ?
So seems like Xperia Z2 simply has no Camera2 Api support and that's the end of that.
That's OK, next time when I go out to buy a new phone I will look for one that has this
As well as unlocked bootloader and sim.
Cheers

Question Install xiaomi apps on pixel phone ?

Hello
I switched from Xiaomi to Pixel, but i find that google keep app suck. Also i losted all my notes on xiaomi note app and this app was better
So i tried to install the xiaomi note apk on my pixel phone, but it gives me an error
Is there anyway to install it ?
Thanks in advance
Xiaomi seems to do what Samsung does and provides a custom framework for its apps that hooks into the Android framework. Installing the app won't work because it needs the custom framework, and you can't simply pull the custom framework into the unit because the Android framework is modified to accept the Xiaomi framework.
The short answer is "no", and the why is "Xiaomi keeps their apps tied to their phones."

Thanks for your answer
You answered exactly what i've want because i wanted to know why it's not possible
It's all clear,thanks.
Yeah, "keep" is pretty horrible.
I also wouldn't go with any kind of 3rd party or proprietary storage.
My suggestion, and this is for a lot more than just notes, is setting up yourself a private instance of Nextcloud. There is a "Notes" application for Nextcloud, that stores notes as separate text files on your server.
