Hey all,
I just bought the Global Mi Mix 3 and it doesn't come with a case nor a USB-C to Aux adapter in the box like the Chinese models do. This is my first foray into USB dongles so I don't know a lot about them, does anyone have any recommendations on which ones provide the best quality sound? I did some Googling and couldn't find anything very useful, the few comparisons that were backed up with actual evidence went way over my head.
Is there any reason to buy the $25 Razer 2 adapter over the $14 Pixel 2 one, or even the $10 Apple one? A couple reviews say the Razer 2 adapter is the best but there's not much information as to why. Seems to be a trend with USB-C audio in general... is there any way to tell which adapters are compatible with the Mi Mix 3 short of buying a bunch and trying them out? I at least found out that phones other than Motorola and HTC require active adapters (ones with a chip inside that can draw power from the device), but does anyone know which brands/models are good quality?
WTF? Mine is a global Version and comes with a case with the same color of the phone (chinese always comes with a black version) and the USB-C Adapter
You could look into HIDIZS Sonata HD DAC II, (29.64 on aliexpress).
This supports PCM 192Khz 24Bit output.
The default output is trash no matter which dongle/cable you buy unless it has a dac in it.

I have the HK Global version Jade Green and it came with a green case and a white usb-c to aux adapter. Weird that yours did not came with it
Are you sure you didn't get the USB-C adapter? The area where the case, USB-C adapter and SIM card removal tool are is inside the insert that holds the wireless charger.

Yeah, mine came in a little pack with everything.
As for the adapter I recently brought: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32931814282.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4fcf4c4dexN1zD.

Hello,
I just noticed there are many Mini-USB to 3.5 (or 2.5) audio adapters on sale at e-Bay, like this.
All of them seem to be for Motorola phones, though. Anyone has tried on the TyTN?
I seem to remember reading somewhere in GENERAL that they would not. Someone asked HTC and they said it was propietry - but they would have an adapter out soon(ish).
Rich
I can't see why it shouldn't work... it's just £5 so what's the loss if it doesn't...
EDIT: I've bought one today. I'll tell if it works or not....
The port is NOT proprietary. It is a standard mini-USB, and takes standard mini-USB cables.
They tweaked the socket a little bit to go along with their new proprietary headset.
In other words, you can plug in any standard mini-usb cable/accessory, but you can't plug the headset into any standard mini-usb port.
Sorta "dain-bramaged" if you ask me, but since I use a bluetooth headset, it's a non-issue.
Charge and audio simulataneously?
So, how do I both charge the unit and listen to music (wired headphones) at the same time? Does anyone know?
There is an alternative to an adapter. As they say on Blue Peter, here's one I made earlier.......
http://www.4winmobile.com/tutorial-replace-hermes-headset-connector-with-35mm-socket-vt3146.html
I asked htc for an adapter
here ist the answer:
Dear Sir
At present HTC does not manufacture, supply or support such a connection and HTC cannot supply such a diagram.

Easy answer: get an iPod!
Hello,
I tried one of those "motorola / razr" headphone adapters on sale at ebay. while the adapter fits nicely it doesn't work. Tytn just doesn't seem to recognize it.
Any thoughts of why it doesn't work and alternatives greatly appreciated.

If you look at the connector the motorola one has 5 pins across the top of the it. If you look at the Tytn on it has 5 pins across the top and 6 across the bottom. In order to be compatible with current chargers the top 5 pins supply the charging and the bottom 6 supply headset and serial connections.
I do not intend to use the "Line out" function of my TyTN often but it DOES lack an audio output. Sometimes I need to connect the device to speakers and etc.
It should be a modified mini USB port that the TyTN has and that must have saved some space over traditional 2.5mm sockets. We all know 2.5 sockets are not common and you need an apaptor to change it to 3.5mm anyway so prolly HTC gave up on the 2.5 and made the USB standard.
I am pretty sure that some accessory will come out.
Does anyone know if the Ebay adaptor cable will work on the TyTN?
Most of the ebay adapters are standard usb mini for use with the razor etc. These will not work. It needs to be an adapter specifically for the Tytn.
thanks! It is really stupid for HTC not to launch any accessories for the TyTN(or other releases).
Like the Atom Exec has factory cradle kit, battery, silicon cases, leather straps and etc. I don't even know where to get an extra battery!
Thought of one of these:

Anyone used these yet?
Does anyone have any experience with a MHL adapter that will charge your phone and also provide analog audio? I would like to make my own car dock with one.
The "iKross MHL micro-USB to VGA Display and Stereo Audio Adapter" on amazon is pretty much what I need, but am unsure if it will work with the EVO LTE.
It's really unfortunate Sprint/HTC opted to get rid of the charging/audio pins on the back of the ONE X when designing the EVO.
you can still use the 3.5mm headphone jack as an audio out even with the MHL streaming out via HDMI. It tried it with my headset and my monitor. Works great

I've been looking for a similar solution. I'd wager that the adapter you mentioned is compatible. MHL is a standard and I'd very be surprised if the GNexus (as listed on the product page) worked, but the EvoLTE didn't.
I have an aux jack and charging port in my glove box, and for years I've just been using both USB and audio cables which dangle out of the box. I don't think I need a car dock (my car already has GPS), but just having one less cable (like those old iPod car adapters which split out analog audio) will be quite nice.
If you're nervous about buying it, I expect I'll pull the trigger on this in the next week or so, and I can report back.
I'd like to find a black or gray version, though. White cables are garish.
Exactly. I never bother with my phone because of all the wires being a hassle. Just looking for a more elegant/convenient solution I can just set my phone in. Might try to hack the MHL adapter and HTC car dock together, though I wish the car dock wasn't so unnecessarily bulky.
Just picked up the belkin Bluetooth today and hooked it to RCA inputs. Got an app that connects Bluetooth when the power cable is connected and turns it of when its not.works great So far. So now I'm down to just power cable .
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Would this work?

Or a generic micro-usb to 3.5mm adapter with a micro-usb Y?

has anyone tried this yet? I'd be interested in its compatibility with the car dock as well as how the quality is. With the car dock and the headphone jack I'm getting lots of feedback and static.
I've order the iKross MHL adapter and the parts necessary to assemble the custom cable. I will report back if the iKross adapter works. If it does work, I may not assemble the custom cable. If the iKross adapter does not work, I will assemble the custom cable and post results.
The iKross MHL adapter came in today, and it does work on the Evo 4G LTE. However, the sound is so terrible that I cannot recommend it to anyone for this application, and I will be sending the adapter back. It seems to only pass low frequencies to the 3.5mm jack, so much of the audio signal is lost. The audio is very low quality compared to the built-in 3.5mm jack. I will be trying the custom cable now, once I get all of the parts I need.
Hello All,
I've had a thought whilst browsing through the forums this evening. Our SGS3 supports audio output through micro usb port via a DAC in the same way that Apple now has to do with its lightning to 30-pin adaptors, there are knock copies floating around ebay for £6
I wonder if it would be possible to remove the lightning plug from one of these adaptors and replace it with a micro-usb plug and maybe a 40.2k resistor to trigger the USB host mode and get it talking to the DAC inside the converter??
it might not be a straight forward hack but I'm sure the majority of the components are the same, could make for a great accessory for people switching from iPhones to Android who have old docks lying around, I bet its quite a big market.
update : Just found the Chipworks tear-down of the Apple adaptor : http://www.chipworks.com/blog/recen...inside-the-apple-lightning-to-30-pin-adapter/ looks like it has a Wolfson 8533 dac same as used in the GS1 I think. I expect the clone adaptors use a cheaper dac.
Hi guys,
I've got to work today and found I've not brought my bundled USB-C - 3.5mm Headphone adapter with me. I'm thinking it's probably a good idea to get a spare or two.
Looking around it seems that not all types are compatible with all phones.
Can anyone confirm if an adapter compatible with other Huawei phones e.g. P20 will work with Mediapad M5?
I'm thinking of something like:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Headphone-Adapter-TriLink-Huawei-Black/dp/B077FJKZMM/
Thanks for any advice!
The one I bought for my M5 8.4 was https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-C-Ty...cd803a66b:m:mTROBXmtYcyehHK4G3vWF6A:rk:1:pf:0
Only used it a couple of times, but seems solid enough.

This works great if you're wanting something that sounds a bit better than stock.
Pixel 2XL USB C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter,Hi-Res DAC Chip Headphone Jack CONMDEX Type C to 3.5 Converter Compatible Google Pixel 2 Pixel 2 XL HTC U11 Essential PH-1 Phone Razer Phone https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DXP213B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_KywBCb00FQQAK
This one works fine, and you can charge at the same time, but it disables quick-charge (must only connect the + and - connections and not the ones used for data).
The M5 supports analog audio directly out of the USB C port, that is how the bundled USBC-3.5mm adapter works. I found that my bundled adapter makes clicking sounds if the usb connector wiggles at all.
I bought 3 of these adapters (only $1 each so I bought 3 incase any were duds) https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07KT2F7K7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
It works like the bundled adapter, it doesn't need a DAC chip as it takes the analog audio directly from the usbc port. It doesn't click like the huawei adapter, sound is excellent. 1 of 3 the connector case on the usb-c end slides off as if its not glued properly, the other 2 of 3 are perfect.
I also bought digital adapter with a built-in DAC chip, https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07MX553YX/ref=twister_B07KSSXZ8Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It works fine, sound is excellent, it drains the battery a bit faster however so I choose to use the analog adapter.
Here is a link from my previous order in France. Works perfectly well

While I have a Note 10 plus, this will work for any phone that has a USB C port. A company I have worked with many times before it's looking for honest reviews of their new products and you'll get one for free. I found out about it here on XDA a few years ago and wanted to share so others could join in. Who doesn't want free accessories for their phone
They current have a USB C to 3.5mm adapter (2 pack). Basically, you buy the adapter, post a true review, and he'll reimburse you via PayPal for the adapter. I've personally reviewed a number of products he sells and they have been great.
He also has an 8K HDMI, and USB extension, if you're interested.
If interested, contact Jayson at [email protected]

Speaking of the adapter, it's awesome. My car's Bluetooth is not reliable, so when it goes out, I need an adapter to connect my phone to the car because stupid Samsung killed the headphone jack. This adapter fixes that issue. Unlike others, this one for nicely into the USB port (many are cheap and feel like it's going to break my phone), it looks good, and the sound is crystal clear. Well with it...
